searching to purchase mac os x 10.8.3 mountain lion recovery disk.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you want to purchase Mountain Lion in a USB drive or DVD, it's only available in the App Store, so you can't get it in a DVD or USB drive. However, after purchasing and downloading it, you can create a OS X Mountain Lion bootable DVD or USB drive with Lion Diskmaker > http://liondiskmaker.com

  • Purchased MacBood Air. Want to install Mountain Lion to our MAC. How do you do that?

I purchased a MAcBook Air, and want to install the OSX Mountain Lion that came with it to my MAC.  How do I do that?

You have to purchase Mountain Lion for the other Mac. That's because the Mountain Lion license that comes with the MacBook Air only allows you to install it in this MacBook Air.
In your other Mac, follow these steps to upgrade to Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade Note that, if you have 10.5 or 10.4, you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard if it's supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • HT1338 can a mac 10.5.8 upgrade to mountain lion

can a mac 10.5.8 upgrade to mountain lion?

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
OS 10.6 Snow Leopard is once again available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • HT3606 please help me to upgrade my mac osx 10.5.8 to mountain lion

please help me to upgrade my mac osx 10.5.8 to mountain lion. i am not able to do it.becoz i am not having app store.

Before you buy anything, first make sure your Mac is compatible.
Minimum specs for Snow Leopard.  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -                 Read the Technical Specifications
Note.  You can no longer buy Snow Leopard from an Apple retail store, only as follows.
If you are in North America ... Last I read, you must call them (1-800-MY-APPLE). It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for the individual use version.
In Europe or otherwise … call your National Apple Helpline … http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
Once you have bought and upgraded you will need to apply the Combo updater for Snow Leopard.          Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
For Mountain Lion the minimum specs are … technical specifications.
But if your computer meets those specs you can upgrade to Mountain Lion without any intermediate steps.

As the others have stated, you're on Mountain Lion with 10.8, anything. But you can check your version of the software by going to the apple in the upper left corner of the screen and clicking it and selecting "About This Mac". That will open a box that shows your software version. Once there you can click on "More Info" that will tell you everything about your specific mac configuration.
    Welcome to the Mac family.

I get an "install failed" message. "Recovery system can't be created—click restart to return to previous version of OS X." This doesn't work. My Mac continues to try to install Mountain Lion. What is the elegant way to get my system back?

The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP.  It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error.  I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps.  I closed apps  manually a few times to no avail.  I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it.  The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive.  This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

  • Upgraded i Mac to version 10.8.4 mountain lion and can't run adobe flash - Appreciate help!

Upgraded my I Mac to version 10.8.4 mountain lion and cannot run adobe flash.  Tried uninstalling and still cannot install flash player.  After initializing, I get a black box and eventually a message that installation was unsuccessful.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Download the offline installer here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg
If it won't download directly, right click and "Save as"
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder (the whole folder)
    Empty the trash
    Reboot
Mount the DMG and run the installer.
BEFORE opening any Flash content in Safari, open Safari>Preferences, and check the Security tab to make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked.

Install the required Windows drivers: Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033. Download this link preferably from Windows. Otherwise, download onto a FAT formatted USB disk from which you can copy to your Windows system.

  • Can I upgrade a Mac OSX 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion?

I want to know if It is possible to upgrade my Mac OSX 10.6.8 to mountain Lion..

I'd suggest you hold off for at least version 10.8.2 to come out. The first two, 10.8.0 and 10.8.1, have proven problematic in terms of battery performance for a significant number of users (see the corresponding thread reaching Biblical proportions in this forum).

  • Mac broke while trying to install Mountain Lion

Well installing Mountain Lion turned out to be a disaster for me.
After downloading the installer and opening it, the Macbook restarted and went into the installer program. After waiting for about 10 minutes it told me the disk needed to be repaired. Fair enough, it's probably nothing, so I opened the Disk Utility app included with the installer. Repairing the disk failed, it told me it needed to be formatted. That not what I expected, but okay starting with a clean slate isn't such a bad idea anyway.
I tried to restart the computer to get back into Mac OS X, to see if anything needs to be back-upped. Sadly, it doesn't want to start up into OS X, I am taken back into the Lion install mode. Tried repairing again, but doesn't work, so okay, I'll format. Everything is on Github and Dropbox anyway.. Except that I can't format, because it refuses to unmount the disk. So I am stuck: can't repair, can't format, can't startup into OS X and can't install Lion / Mountain Lion.
I then created a Lion recovery disk using http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433 and an USB drive. Started up from it, and still I could not format my drive because it did not want to be unmounted. So I don't know what to do anymore. It's even more weird because the Macbook was working just perfectly fine before, never any problems.
I don't have the DVD anymore, so that's not an option. Should I try single user mode? Bring it in? Buy a new hard drive?

It's being a pain in the arse huh?
Well zap the SMC and the PRAM, I suspect there is something there from the 10.8 installer that's trying to do it's thing.
    #1 and #2 here
Step by Step to fix your Mac
Next try option key booting from the 10.7 Recovery USB again,
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
use Disk Utility to Erase the hard drive with the middle option (one step from the right option) on the entire drive (select the drive makers name and size) on the left, it will take a bit, map off bad sectors and give you a brand new EFI and GUID partition map whichh also likely have been borked by 10.8 update.
Then install 10.7 via the USB, then commnad r boot and AppleID and password (required) for 10.7 install, then try updating to 10.8 again, I think it will go well this time.
If not, if you have a Firewire cable and another Mac, you can T boot the sick Mac's hard drive to the desktop of the other and use Disk Utlility to wipe the drive that way.
Another method is to use another Mac to burn a ISO of Parted Magic to cd and option or c boot the problem Mac with that, use the default load in RAM option and it will spit out the disk, use the mount disk option and erase the disk with extreme prejudice. LOL.

  • How can I Upload Pictures, from my Mac Book Pro Retina Display with Mountain Lion OS? Tried but it gets as far asi  pictures but does not open?

How can I Upload Pictures, from my Mac Book Pro Retina Display with Mountain Lion OS? Tried but it gets as far as i pictures but does not open?

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there.
