Searching with Google fails

When I navigate to the google frontpage, I am able to search normally. For example, searching "firefox" bring me to:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=firefox&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=99700e3379e1c1b1
There are several problems which occur. First of all, the title of the page is not "firefox - Google Search", but rather the entire URL. Secondly, and most importantly, the search functionality fails completely. When I try to search for something else the URL changes but firefox remains on the same page.
== URL of affected sites ==
http://google.com

I'm not sure if it is Google or firefox. FF3.6, FF3.6.4, and FF3.6.6 all fail in the same way for me. This behavior just started in the last day or so.
Your Google searches will work if you don't let Google use Javascript. The most practical way to implement this workaround is with the NoScript add-on, available from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 - just allow the sites you trust (good security practice anyway), but DO NOT allow google.com. This will allow your google searches to work while they fix this bug.

  • Searching with Google

I trying to make a application that can make searches with google. Is it possible to send a form to the google server. I've made a connection with the
openConnection class and can read off pages from the web. Is there a class I can submit data with?

somethings i type something in the address bar, like 'paypal', mozilla used to go straight to that website, which was helpful... then it started searching with google, this i was not too upset about... however now it has started searching with yahoo, this i am upset about, and i would like to change this, however i do not know how?

    1. Use  free  AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here

  • When highlighting text and searching with Google, even though my default browser is Chrome, it searches with Safari.  How do I change that?

Using iMac and Maverick OS.  I have Chrome as my default browser.  I find that going to System Preferences/General under default browser, I note that Chrome is chosen as default, yet the browser "above the line" is Safari and Chrome, while checked off is "below the line".  In other words, the top listed browser is Safari which is unchecked with a line underneath, even though all the other browsers are listed below the line and only Chrome has a check mark.
When I am on a website and I select words to search in Google, it always searches with Safari instead of Chrome.  How do I change that?

Thanks for your response.  I think it was my error in that I did not define the problem properly.  Indeed Chrome is my default browser.  And Maverick does not have a "next line" to default to Google.  I can do that in the Chrome settings.
My problem is that when I am in another application.....and it is apparently an application native to Maverick....for example Contacts or Calendar, Reminders, Notes, etc., if I highlight a word or phrase, and right click and choose "search with Google", it defaults to Safari.  How do I change that?

  • Opening "Search with Google" in New Tab

When you highlight text and right click to choose Search With Google, the results are displayed in the same tab. Can the results be opened in a new tab instead?
    Thanks
    kbhat

    See, I get that.
Here is what I'm looking for. Say, I'm reading an interesting article in Safari and I see a term that I want to search. I highlight the text and Right click to select 'Search with Google'. The results populate in the same tab. I want the result of that in a new tab so I can continue to read the original article and go the new tab to see what google results are...

  • Edit "Search with Google" service to open in a new safari page

I frequently use the search with google service in OSX.
This appears in the contextual menu as "Search in google" and in the services menu as "Search with google".
When I am in Safari and I want to search some word or phrase in google, I am redirected to the google page in the same page I m at. So if I want to search several words in google, I have to do it one by one.
I want to be able to edit this function so the word I am looking is searched in a separate tab or browser window.
I cant find the workflow in the Services folder so I can edit it. Anyone have an idea?
    Thank you

this is a built in service not made with automator. You can not edit it. you can try making your own service for this task using automator although I don't quite see how to make one that will do what you want.

  • Is there anyway to get the "Search with google" feature in Safari to automatically open in new tab?

Is there any way to get the "Search with google" feature in safari to automatically open the link in a new tab?
I am indifferent as to the solution, whether it be an extension, plug-in or apple script using automator as long as it is well documented.
Have yet to see an elegant solution.

Hold down the command key while selecting the menu item.

  • Mail wants to use the restricted Service "Search With Google."

This is the response/error I see when I try to do a Google search from an email message - "Mail wants to use the restricted Service “Search With Google.”"

Interesting - I just created a new user account I named "Test", and tried "Search With Google" in Notes and it worked fine in this new account.  Without any additional change, I went back into my normal user account, and tried to use "Search with Google" on the highlighted word, and it pulled up the Google search fine as well.  No reason I can think of that these actions would have resolved the problem - e.g., either the creation of the "Test" account, or switching between this "Test" account and my normal account.  Possibly creating new account caused a cleanup of the Safari preferences to point to version 6.0.(essentially reset the default)
Would be curious if droow007 solution works for others.  Definitely quicker than the route I went :~)

  • Right click to search with google

In Safari when I select a word and right click it I get a menu that has two "search with google" options, one that googles the selected words in the same tap, and the other googles the words in a new tap:
How can I delete the first one and keep the second?
and in general how can I customize right click menus in OS X ?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

  • Safari (7.1.3) forgets preferences in Mail 7.3, when "search with Google"

When in Mail 7.3, "Search With Google" on any selected text causes Safari (7.1.3) Icon to bounce in dock and when selected, it opens with a screen to set up my preferences.  As if it were the first time I used Safari. None of my extensions are installed in the safari preferences.
When I open Safari first THEN open Mail, then Safari behaves normally.  I am using a non-standard "home page" but Google is my default search engine.  I am running Mavericks  ) 10.9.5.
Tho it is easy to work around this issue, over time it has made me curiouser & curiouser.  Any help or ideas would be most welcomed,
      Thanks...

Really? Nobody has encountered this?  This is the first time I haven't gotten one response to a query. Booo

  • Quastion marks in non-latin charecters when searching with google

    Hello,
After installing firefox I encountered a problem.
I am on the hebrew version of the browser, updated to the latest (33.1) version.
When searching in the search bar with google using non-latin chars (hebrew) I am taken to google search page but instead of the search term I am getting quastion marks symbols (???????) I then need to again write the search term (which is now ok)
This doesn't happen in DuckDuckGo or Yahoo search.
A solution would be appreciated (and also important for other users)
    Thank you

I can't seem to duplicate this.  Are you typing in the same place I am? I see I only have 6.0.1...
