Second display control & E-mail checking

Anyone got this feature to work.  If I try to initiate mail checking from the start menu, all programs, second display control, mail checking after filling in the panel it fails with a "failed to connect" message. Can find no help info for this feature. Anyone tried it with any success?

Fair enough, then how do I close out that last E-Mail from being displayed, without closing out the program?

  • What controls which screen is the 'Second Display

I have 4 screens on my mac
Two identical cards , each with two outputs.
3 monitors in panorama, with the 42 inch TV above the  three
Today when i started, I selected Windows | Show Event sonSecond display...the Events panel popped up on the big TV screen, not where I had expected it,on the LHS. So I though it may be because of the way the screens were plugged in to the machine, so I reconfigured, swapping the TV cable with the LH screen cable.
All worked all, for 8 -8 hours. with the events n the LH screen.
I have not touched the cables again.
Now I re boot the Mac ..and fire up FCP again...and the Events have gone back up to the TV screen.
Am I going to have to swap cables each time , I want to start FCP  or is there anther way?   maybe eFCP X is just not really designed for multiple screens I guess?
    Any hep appreciated
Google searches on this have come up fruitless yet again.

    Hi guys
yes arrangement in Sys preferences is correct,
    the mouse tracks across them
    all as expected.
this is a pre Thunderbolt machine,  2008 3.1 mac pro tower.
    Two identical Apple ATI 2600
    cards. Two DVI ports onbeach
It is weird and there does not seem to be any logic or reason to what happens.  I can swap the leads over, and each monitor in Sys Prefs keeps its place, desktop icons and backgroind maintain their corrrct arrsngement per monitor.  So LH desktop backgroind will stay on LH screen, no matter what port its cable is plugged into.
Yet, you do a reboot & swap a few minutes later and it is totally random in sys preferencex.
FCP X will seem to randomly choose any of the other screens as its second display..
I know with launching an app from Spotlight, the app tends to open in tjd screen where the mouse is active, no matter which screen Sotlight was launched from.
I have multiscreen setup as 'Spaces' so each has its own Dock and Taskbar.
THis machine has Mavericks 10.9.5 on.  I am quite scared to try Yosemite on it for fear of what else they have broken since 10.6.  Laptop has Yosemite on it but not mutlimonitor capable.
this is definetly an FCP X issue rather than OS related.  I can fire up Adobe Lightroom, and without fail it chooses the LH screen as its second monitor.
I Have a Premier Pro disk kicking aroind somewhere, may have to give that a try and see if that supports multi screen,

  • How to remove second display on settings

I have a Macbook Pro 13inch and a Samsung LED TV. Last time i used to view my work on the large screen using HDMI cable, with same resolution on MBP and the TV. Now, when i connect the HDMI, the MBP screen resolution distorts and widens and the TV resolution compress a bit. What could be the problem? And i want to get rid of the second display on my settings. Some rubbish app automatically installed the second display. Please help me.

The settings lockout would be controlled through the EWS (embedded web server) of the printer.  The lockout is really designed for the Officejet printers to prevent others from making printer changes that could affect how the printer behaves.  For example, to keep the date and time set to that faxes show an accurate receive time.
Get the printer's IP address by pressing the network icon at the top of the screen.
Enter this IP address into the address bar of a web browser on a computer.  The printer's status page should load.  If you receive any certificate warnings, choose the option that lets you continue anyway.
Click on Settings and then go to Administrator Settings on the left.  Many of the features of the front panel are controlled here.  Make sure everything is checked except for Control Panel Lock.  Once this is set, click apply.
Power off the printer for at least 1 minute and then power it back on to force the new setting to take effect.
You could also try setting the date and time under preferences on the left of the settings page, but it sounds like the lockout issue is more widespread than just date and time.
The Admin settings page should look similar to this screenshot when it is set the way it should be.

    Hello Raimonds
Respect my friend. You have already this new beauty. Can you please tell me how much you have paid for it? Are you satisfied with it?
I really do not believe that many forum members have this brand new notebook and you will be very lucky if someone can offer some assistance. Have you already checked userss manuals? Maybe you can find there explanation how it works with small Toshiba's organic light emitting diode (OLED) "Edge Display".
I just know that this small display shows email and calendar notifications, and must be synchronized with your email client. It will even continue to update when the unit is in sleep mode

  • Crome - stuck in full screen on Second display

    Hello
I am in need of some help here.
I have a dual screen set up
Main display - Apple 30" display
Second display - Apple 23" display
At one point I have enabled full screen mode with Google Crome on my 23" display and I can't get it out of Full Screen.
I have quit Crome and tried to start it holding down different keys - Command, option and also control, (alone not together)
No change, still runs full screen
    UGH - hate it.
I have tried 'esc' and the blue arrows in the upper right of the screen both did not help.
    Thanks

  • How to adjust the brightness of a second display connected to iMAC 2012  by Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?

How to adjust the brightness of a second display (Dell 3007WFPHC 2560x1600 dpi) connected to 27 inch iMAC 2012 through thunderbolt port by an Apple Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?

Macs control computer by USB.  With a non-Apple display, you will have to use the brightness control on the display.

  • Can I use a Sony all-in-one PC/TV as a second display for the G5?

I'm trying to build a pro music system out of my G5, which means that it should only have music software on it. I have an aluminum 20" display hooked up to my Radeon x800T video card, which has one DVI and one ADC jack on it. A pro music rig needs two 20" displays, at least, to display all the mixers, processors, instruments, etc. I have to use a PC for my financial stuff and need a new one. The new Sony Vaio VGC-VA 11G is their version of the i-Mac G5, it's all-in-one plus it is a 20" LCD TV with S-video and composite video in, not VGA in. If I get an ADC-to-VGA adaptor and hook that up to a VGA-to-S/video & composite adapter (all on ebay!), can I plug the output of the G5 to one of the video ins on the Sony Vaio and then use the Sony Vaio's TV as the second display (not simply mirroring the Apple display)? I guess it would be the same as using an LCD TV as a second, non-mirroring display. If it works, it's going to be cool!

Next button to the left of the on/off button, controls the input. Cycle it until you see HDMI in.

  • My Mac Pro Desk Top computer no longer can "see" my second display??

I've tried reversing the connections on the back of the MacPro but it still doesn't "see" the second display.  I've had these two displays hooked up for years with no problems.  I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and I just had the MacPro in the Apple Store for a  "One To One" transfer of data to my new MacBook Pro laptop.  When I brought it back home it still worked fine.  I then was cleaning up some stuff and I know I went into my "Users and Groups" panel in System Preferences and I did remove some items from the "Login Items" list that open automatically so maybe that is the problem??  I know the second display is getting power and recognizes it's connection to the compuiter because when I disconnect it, it says, "no signal" and when I reconnect it, it just goes to sleep.  Advice appreciated.

Some of the graphics cards that had two DVI connectors had one Dual-Link (suitable for all resolutions including wider than 1920 wide) and one Single-Link (suitable for resolutions up to 1920, but not wider). This does not appear to be your problem, since both are less than 1920 wide.
The "Drivers" business is a complete Red Herring (Not Applicable), as the Mac does not use Drivers for displays -- it uses a unified driver for the Display CARD, and customizes it based on the capabilities reported by the Display when connected. In order to get this to work, the display must correctly self-identify.
To verify that the display is correctly detected, look in:
About This Mac > ( More Info ) > Graphics and Displays ...
... a correctly self-identified display shows its Name and its maximum resolution. be skeptical, this information does not update when you plug/unplug the display, and you have to close and re-open this window (or possibly the entire program) to get the information to refresh after a change.
If either display provides a USB cord, it must be plugged in to complete the display connection and provide display ID and control (this is much more common with Apple displays that third-party displays).
Is there any evidence of trauma to the display connectors or cables? Any bent pins on the connectors?

  • When running windows in vmware fusion how do I extend my windows desktop to my second display

I am running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise in a VMware  session session on my MacBook pro.  I was just given a second thunderbolt display today and I want to be able to extend my desktop when running the windows VM.  When the VM is shut down it's working perfectly and awesome.  However when I'm logged into and working with in the VM, I'm limited to only using one display.  It would be very helpful to be able to extend to the second screen as I need to run 3-4 nearly full screen apps at once and would like to utilize this second display.

You might get better results raising that question in the VMware Fusion forum. I don't have two monitors so I can't test anything but a quick check on that forum for that question gave: "Normally if a user wants to use two monitors with a VM, they can select "Use All Displays in Full Screen" in Full screen mode."

  • Samsung TV as second display

I have a late 2009 27inch iMac and I would like to use my Samsung TV (Model #UN32EH5000 32-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV) as a second display. The resolution on the Samsung TV is set to 1080p yet the picture is not as crisp as on my iMac Display. Any idea on how to fix this so that both screens are identical in image quality? There doesn't seem to be a "PC input" on the Samsung TV, just 2 HDMI ports.

  • Envy M6 (c2l95ua#ABL) - Windows 8 - Turn on second display (TV over HDMI) as computer wakes

I want my TV (used as a second display over HDMI) to turn on automatically as the laptop turns on or resumes from sleep/hibernation.  (As does a monitor on a desktop PC or the built-in screen on a laptop)
CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is supposed to allow to turn on TV over HDMI.
The television is CEC compatible and has CEC option turned on.  Theres also an option called "Allow CEC compatible devices to turn on television", which is turned on.
Can this laptop turn on a TV through HDMI, with or without CEC?
    How?
    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks for the reply.
Is the T.V. entering standby or powering off after a certain amount of time?
The TV is in what the manufacturer calls standby-mode.
    http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/televisions/NS-39E340A13.html
    What model is the T.V.?
    http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/televisions/NS-39E340A13.html
TheT.V. should wake from standby upon receiving a signal from the notebook.
    I agree.  It should.
To the best of my knowledge, the notebook will not turn the T.V. on from a powered off state.  At least, I haven't found any indication that this model will.
Anyone else has a solution? There could be a way to turn it on from off state if HDMI CEC is implemented by HP.
    Or another way..?

  • Second Display Use

Okay, I have a Mac Pro (two years old) with a 23" Apple Display. I have been thinking of connecting my old 17" Apple LCD Display in as a second monitor. I know I need to get a DVI to ADC adapter to work on the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT I have.
So, my question is this (and I know its probably a dumb question): What can I do with a second display connected? I have read that with applications like Photoshop (I have Adobe CS4), you can move panels or palettes to the second display. But I was wondering if I can have my Apple Mail open on the 17" (since I usually have it open all the time) while I work in PS on the 23". Or can I have like streaming tv from Hulu playing or be playing a DVD on the 17" while I am working on the 23". I figure I might as well put that 17" display to use and I have seen photos on the web of people with more than one display connected, but I never thought what they could be using it for.
And one more question: Do I need any software or do anything special in settings on the Mac to make this work? I really appreciate any input.

Yes, I have done those things on the second monitor. What's on my second monitor right now: iTunes, iStat, SizzlingKeys, sometimes Disk Utility, iChat, SuperDuper, basically anything I don't want to obscure what's on the main monitor.
And one more question: Do I need any software or do anything special in settings on the Mac to make this work? I really appreciate any input.
It is all built in. When you plug your second monitor in, you will see two monitor icons in the Displays system preference, instead of the one you normally see. Arrange those icons the same way you laid out your actual monitors on your desk, and the system will know which edge is the common edge and the mouse can travel between the two monitors as if they were one. At that point it does not matter which windows you place in which monitor, you do what you want. You will be able to assign resolutions, color profiles, and options separately for each connected monitor.
The menu bar must remain on one monitor. It can be dragged to any monitor using the Displays preference. The monitor you put the menu bar on will be your startup/primary monitor.

  • IMac Second Display won't power down

I've added an LG 20" widescreen as a second display for my 20" Intel iMac (white). When the iMac sleeps or powers down, the LG display goes blank but not black, power button remains on and a "check signal cable" message displays.
A second problem is that I've been trying to get the two displays to look the same, color-wise. The color match option under displays>color gets it close, but that option has disappeared from the list of choices. Before, I could choose from the LG color settings as well as several generic choices (Color match, Adobe RGB, etc.) Those other choices have gone away. The calibrate option is still there. I just upgraded to Leopard. Did that have anything to do with it or was it just a coincidence?

Have you checked the Energy Saver settings? System Preferences / Energy Saver.
If the settings are what you want, you can try this. Change them to anything at all then change them back to what you want. The restart the computer and reset the PRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Notebook as second display?

    Hi all,
Is it possible to do this? I want to practice my keynote presentation. I have hooked up through the mini-display (MBP...recent) to a DVI connection on an older Powerbook G4. Should I be able to use to the display on the powerbook as a second display.
The system preferences display pane does not see a second display...so I think not. But, just wanted to check with the experts.
    Thanks

If you have a HDTV with an HDMI input, you can get a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect between the computer and TV. Then you can use the TV as your second monitor.

  • IPad as second display?

Hey guys, I know there are apps like airplay that allow you to use your iPad as a send display over wifi, but is there any way that I can use it as a second display by it being connected to the computer through USB? I ask this because my internet is very slow and using the apps that transfer over wi-fi is really laggy.

    Hi,
Not sure if this can be accomplished via USB but check out this app.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-display/id368158927?mt=8
For a slow Wi Fi, try turning your router off for a few minutes then restart and restart your Mac. Perhaps troubleshooting your Wi Fi connection will help.
Troubleshooting help here for Airport. http://www.apple.com/support/airport/
And open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder then the Preferences folder then the System Configuration folder.
Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac. The Mac OS X will create a new SC folder for you.
