Second Exchange account mail stuck in outbox

Hello Everyone,
I have a strange issue. Nor me or my colleagues are able to wrap our heads around it.
We have an exchange account for our Value Added Services (VAS). I've added this mail account as a second exchange account to the outlook 2013 profile for the employees. However the problem is that all mails they sent are stuck in the outbox. And this happens
only for the VAS mailbox.
1 User however doesn't face this issue, when that user sends a mail it is directly sent to the person. That user is currently responsible for cleaning up the outbox.
The mail setup is as follows:
1. Personal Mailbox - Exchange
2. VAS Mailbox - Exchange
3. QA mailbox - Exchange
4. P&G mailbox - Second mailbox (read only access)
They all work fine except the VAS mailbox.
Other relevant information:
They connect to our RDS (SRV 2012) farm and start Outlook 2013 trough remoteapp.
Their PC is running W7
We are using Exchange 2010 with the latest updates.
Any clues/ideas as why this could be happening? And why only the VAS mailbox has that issue?
In my testing i once setup the same mailbox structure locally, and this setup worked.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards,
Niek

Hi,
I recommend you try to use OWA to check if there is the same issue.
Open another user's mailbox or a resource mailbox from Outlook Web App
You must have Full Access permission for the mailbox that you want to open to perform this procedure.
Sign in to Outlook Web App.
At the top of the Outlook Web App window, click the drop-down arrow next to your mailbox name, and then click the
Open Other Mailbox window.
Enter the name of the mailbox that you want to open, and then click Open.
Thanks.

  • Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013: Mails stuck in Outbox

    Hi everybody,
I am using Outlook 2013 connecting an Exchange 2013 server. After sending a mail, all outgoing mails remain in the outbox. After removing the cache files it works for a while until the problem occurs for the next time (approx. once every two days).
I already re-installed Windows 8 to test it on a completely clean environment...OWA works fine, the problem only exists with Outlook.
Additional note: It might be interesting that after sending a mail, the "Send/Receive progress" window states "sending [email protected] - complete" but the Mail is still in the outbox and was not delivered to the recipient. Safe mode doesn't work
for me. Other users connecting with Outlook 2010 don't have a problem with this exchange server.
Do you have any ideas? If I can provide you with further information, please let me know.
    Greets,
    Basti

Thanks for your answer. Here are the requested information:
    >What addins are you using?
No 3rd party addins, at the moment "Microsoft Exchange Add-In", "Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin",
"OneNote Notes about Outlook Items" and "Outlook Social Connector 2013" are activated. But the problem also occurs if no addin is active (or even in Safemode).
    >Antivirus
scanners can prevent Outlook from moving messages to the sent folder.
I will try to deactivate the virus scanner the next time. (Avira is used)
    >Can
any address trigger this behavior or does it happen with certain addresses?
No, it does happen with any address by random. Once the problem occurs, I can try to send as much mails as I want to
any address - nothing leaves the outlook client.
    >Is
this your mailbox or a shared/secondary mailbox?
It is a user's mailbox, nothing shared.

Can you add a second exchange account to Mac Mail?

You should be able to, enter it in Internet accounts.

  • Outlook 2013 mail stuck in Outbox

We just started using Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 (Fresh install) but we got a problem with additional mailboxes.
When you open additional mailboxes on your exchange account settings where you have send as permissions and full access and then send an e-mail from that mailbox it stays in the outbox. Sending an e-mail in owa works fine from the mailbox.
    What can this be?

We need to try basic steps for this mail stuck in outbox issue as below:
Work offline, move the stuck mail into another folder. Restart Outlook and Work online to send it again.
Temporarily uninstall or disable firewall and antivirus software.
    Test in Outlook safe mode.
Create a new profile and re-setup your account.
Let me know the resualt. Thanks.

  • Google added as Exchange Account (mail, contacts, cal), issues with contact #'s resolving to Names.

Google added as exchange account (mail, contacts, calendar), all works except contact correlation. Meaning somebody calls me, it's in the contact list but does not show name just the #. Same for outbound calls..search contacts, tap #, phone shows I'm dialing # versus contact name. This is completely goofy. I had a previous emplorers Exchange account working perfectly before I had to delete it. I removed all email accounts from iPhone and started fresh with adding Google as Exchange 'type' account.

Ok I fixed this problem. Within Google under contacts I had imported 1,200+ contacts and they all showed up there, on my iPad and iPhone. But on the phone name and # would not correlate. I discovered that by editing a contact (within Google contacts page) it would mark it as 'My Contacts' in addition to being Imported on xx/xx/xx. Once I did this, magically my iphone call log would display the name of the contact I edited/reclassified as 'My Contacts'. So I reclassified all the contacts as 'My Contacts' and now have full functionality. End of **** story and hope this helps somebody else.

  • Mail stuck in outbox (exchange)

I have an issue where messages sent on my exchange account tend to "hang around" in my outbox until eventually I am prompted to "try again with selected server".  On this 2nd attempt the message seems to send.  This happens on about every 5 or so messages and is getting annoying...
Anyone lese have this issue?  Any work arounds?
Seem to ahve this issue on both iOS devices and Mavericks
    I'm running 10.9 on a Mid-2012 MB Air,
iOS 7.0.4 on 5s and first gen iPad Mini
    Exchange version14.3.123.0

    Short:
Use the external IP address, force it into all instances of the connection - Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, and Reminders.  If your external mail server is populated in the preferences box - from OUTSIDE your corporation, use the command $ nslookup {mail.server.address} to find the IP address, then use that IP Address in all the boxes.  Save the account info, exit the apps, restart your Mac.  You should be good from then on.
    Long:
I had the same problem and worked through my difficulties and have a solution.
Also, I believe the problem is with Internet Accounts - common information between Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, and Reminders.
For me, I could force the problem to reproduce by VPNing into my corporate network, then disconnecting the VPN - minutes or hours later, didn't matter.  While the transition into the corporate network went fine, it appears to get stuck trying to use the Internal name/IP even after disconnecting.  It would not "release" this lock until I rebooted.  I even tried the whole tech support 45 minute phone call, add a "take offline / online" Toolbar Shortcut, etc - none of it worked until I rebooted each time.
Now I believe you could resolve it by resetting the network connection ($ sudo ifconfig en0 down / $sudo ifconfig en0 up), but I resolved my issue before testing that out.  And who wants to reset the network connections everytime this problem comes up?
I discovered my Internal and External server boxes were inconsistently populated, and decided to manually populate all of them (turn off autodisover) with the IP Address of the external server, so it would always work whether inside or outside the company network.
Preferences (Command ,) then Accounts, select your exchange account in question:
Account Information tab - un-check the Autodiscover service, manually enter the IP of the external server in both Internal Server and External Server boxes.
Advanced tab - make sure your Internal Paths and Ports are manually configured properly (with or without SSL as needed by your mail server).
Save the settings (change accounts or close preferences and save).
You may be prompted with a warning - the SSL Certificate does not match.  This is because your "*.company.com" SSL Certificate does not match the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP Address you entered - which is understandable.  Just verify the certificate is for your company's domain, and Accept (Trust) it permanently - which will require you to provide admin credentials to save the certificate settings.

  • Mail stuck in outbox after update

After I updated the OS today, all my email messages are stuck in the outbox of Entourage. It was working fine before the update, and I didn't change any of the settings. Any thoughts?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Mail that gets stuck in the outbox usually can't find the SMTP server to send the messages to. Verify that the SMTP server you are sending to hasn't gone down, and if you are using password authentication that it hasn't forgotten your password. If you aren't connecting to the internet via the internet service provider who gives you the SMTP server, it may be blocked unless you specific a port to send the message through. 2626 and 587 are the most common alternative ports, though your internet service provider may have another. If using Exchange, check and see if you can send messages using an Exchange account with Mail.

  • Office 365 mail stuck in OUTBOX

    Hi,
We recently upgraded our Exchange Environment to Office 365. Suddenly my users started complaining e-mails would be stuck in OUTBOX. It would say sending but the bar would load forever. The only way to stop this is to restart OUTLOOK and then the mails would
be sent. All the new emails would be received too.
On the web I found out that people that were using a DLINK router had to turn off SPI. We were using a DLINK router too but we didn't have the SPI turned on. But to be sure I swapped the DLINK with a Cisco. The problem still persists.
    http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/382519-outlook-stuck-on-outbox-if-left-idle
I also deleted some users' OST file and would reload it to see if this would improve the situation. Also this didn't help.
All my users surf via a squid proxy server. I don't and I never had the problem, so I changed my settings so I would surf via the squid proxy server and I also experienced the problem. I found this article on technet.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/onthewire/archive/2014/03/04/network-perimeter-tcp-idle-session-settings-for-office-365.aspx
I was wondering if there are other sysadmins out there who experienced the same problem with using Office 365 and squid. Do you have any solution for it? Because I haven't found one yet.
    Kind regards,
    Michael

    Hi Mike,
How about sending emails to external via OWA on your laptop and desktop?
If working well in OWA, it seems an issue on the Outlook 2013 client side.
Please try to run Outlook under the safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
Please try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
If not working in OWA, since Exchange 2013 is different from Office 365, I suggest ask Office 365 forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions.
    For your convenience:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/default.aspx
Also suggest collecting detailed error from App log.

  • Mail stuck in outbox. Mac locks up

I know there is a known issue with mail and there are numerous threads on the mail memory leak.  I am amazed a core app like mail has been neglected by apple for so long but anyway.   I have a mail stuck in the outbox and cannot get rid of it due to the memory leak.  Within a few seconds of launching mail the app hogs 10gig of ram and counting which doesn't give me change to get to the offending message.  I cannot rebuild mailboxes either.  I have been told it might be a gmail issue but I cannot do a thing once I click the dreaded mail icon.  Any pointers would be appreciated

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then launch Mail and wait for it to do whatever it's doing. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Sending mail "Stuck" in Outbox??

I have mail that is not being sent to valid email addresses. They are still in my outbox.
    3 Questions:
    1) How do I force mail to be resent from the outbox?
    2) If there are 3 messages in cue & message #1 has an invalid email address will it prevent messages numbers 2 & 3 from being sent?
    3) If I put 10 correct email addresses in a recipient list and one address is incorrect, will the mail be sent to the 9 correctly typed email address and alert me that one address was unavailable or will the one incorrect address prevent the email from going out?
    Thanks in advance!

    > 1) How do I force mail to be resent from the outbox?
By fixing the problem that prevents it from being sent. There is no way to answer that with the information you’ve provided. What’s the problem exactly? What error messages do you get, if any? Are this mail account and the associated outgoing (SMTP) server provided by your ISP or by someone else?
    > 2) If there are 3 messages in cue & message #1 has an invalid email
address will it prevent messages numbers 2 & 3 from being sent?
AFAIK, a message stuck in Outbox doesn’t prevent other messages from being sent. The reason why the message stuck in Outbox couldn’t be sent is irrelevant — unless it’s the same reason the other messages cannot be sent either, of course.
    3) If I put 10 correct email addresses in a recipient list and one address
is incorrect, will the mail be sent to the 9 correctly typed email address
and alert me that one address was unavailable or will the one incorrect
address prevent the email from going out?
The message will be either sent to all recipients or not sent at all. Whether all the recipients receive it is another story. If Mail puts the message in Sent, that means the outgoing server told Mail that the message would be delivered (to all recipients). If the message remains in Outbox, the message wasn’t sent to any of them.

  • Mails stuck in Outbox when sending as shared mailbox

    Hi
I have some users who use a shared mailbox [email protected]
Their primary mail is their own [email protected] and the shared mailbox is the secondary. When they try to send mail as [email protected], the mails get stuck in the Outbox folder or the shared mailbox. Sometimes, only one user has a problem, sometimes 3 of
them (there are 6 members). Sometimes the problem is resolved, sometimes the problem happens again. Sometimes, the mail will be stuck in Outbox for 10 seconds then send. The recipient does not receive the mail when it gets stuck on the Outbox. I tried to add
a test user with the same privilege as this group and tried to log-in the computer of the user who is having the problem. In the test user, mails can be sent as the shared mailbox, but going back to the original user, it gets stuck on the Outbox. So I think
this is not a problem of the computer. I tried to check if the DelegateSentItemsStyle can be changed but this parameter is not existing in the registry of the user. Any advice? Thanks.

    Hello meowchao,
It puzzles me that they sometimes can send. Do you know Powershell?
If so, please run the following command:
    Get-MailboxPermission [email protected]
(where you type the proper name of your shared mailbox)
In the list produced, does all users who should have access to this mailbox appear and have full access?
If you don't know Powershell:  http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/cc952755.aspx

  • "The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable" when adding second Exchange account to Outlook 2013

I have a problem that I've found to be typical, just haven't found anything that describes my exact problem.
I'm having trouble adding a second Exchange 2010 server account to Outlook 2013 in one of the computers of the domain. Outlook 2013 will complain with "The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete
    this action".
I've Googled and found many threads with the same error... however most of those seem to be either a problem with the server, or the Global Catalog in Active Directory, or the "connection method" (I've tried all found solutions to no avail).
This is not the case, since the first account is added with absolutely no problem. It can send and receive and I can delete the outlook profile and recreate it and it'll give no problems. I have this problem only when adding a second account.
This is a fresh Windows 8.1 install with an up-to-date Outlook 2013. I have other computers in the same domain and network, with the same setup (Win 8.1 + Outlook 2013) configured with two exchange accounts with no problem.
There are no connectivity problems, I can access that same account through OWA and in other computers on the network... the Global Catalog seems to be fine (shows two active DCs, which is correct).
I've tried deleting and recreating the outlook profiles, repairing the outlook installation, even deleting all outlook files in AppData and letting it recreate them, with no success.
Any hints of what could be going on?
Before I speak, I have something important to say.

    Hi Javier,
    Thank you for the update.
I have tested on my lab and get following result.
Lab: Exchange 2010, CAS Array (CAS01+CAS02), MBX01, DC
    Type Server Field
    Check name result
    Changed Server Field
    CAS01.domain.com
    Yes
    CASArray.domain.com
    CASArray.domain.com
    Yes
    CASArray.domain.com
    DC.domain.com
    Yes
    CASArray.domain.com
    MBX01.domain.com
    No
"The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable"
Based on my knowledge, the reason why inputing DC FQDN in the Server Field fixes this issue is that Outlook performs AD Lookup and finds the account configuration from AD, then back the CAS Array FQDN in the Server Field  instead of DC FQDN.
Exchange 2010 is different from Exchange 2013, if you are using Exchange 2013, we need to input MailboxServerGUID.domain.com into Server Field.
If there is anything I’ve misunderstood, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Thanks,
    Steve Fan
