Second HDD in Qosmio F30

How to install second HDD to Qosmio F30-141? Need some adaptor?

I dont think you will need a select bay adaptor.
I found one HDD PA3439U-2HA0 which could be compatible with the F30.
Its an S-ATA 5400rpm HDD and was designed to operate as a primary HDD or a second removable HDD in the Slim Select Bay drive of your notebook.
The second HDD bay should be placed at the bottom of the unit and should be secured only with one screw.

  • Installation of second HDD into Qosmio F30

    Hi guys and gals :)
I just purchased secondary hard disk drive for my Qosmio F30 but when I opened the drive bay I found that I have a problem with drive's installation on my hands.
First I tried placing new drive into bay and gently pressing it to connect with sata data and power connectors, and it works perfectly, but it is impossible to move notebook around since drive is a bit loose in the bay and I kinda worry for my data and the drive itself.
Then I opened first bay and noticed that original Toshiba's drive is kept in place with help of some thin metal plate mount, which is secured onto both the drive and the bay with some screws.
I checked the web for any reviews of F30 model which could have photos of secondary bay in its opened state, and found some. The photos displayed the same thing Im seeing. Check this one out, it shows the secondary bay clearly (sata connectors are to the right and not visible):
    http://www.ferra.ru/images/179/179520.jpg
Note a small screw hole at the left side of the bay, obviously intended for securing the similar mounting plate with secondary hdd onto the notebook. The plate which is, sadly, not included with my computer.
Does anyone here had the same problem and if yes, how did you resolve it?

    Hi
As you already said the HDD needs a special frame which holds the 2.5 HDD in the bay.
Such frame and the necessary screws you could order directly from the authorized service provider which is responsible for your country.
I would recommend talking to these guys and explain what you need.
    Best regards

  • Could I use a second HDD in my Qosmio F50-108

Could I set a second HDD in my Qosmio F50-108...
What should I be careful of?
    What HDD should I buy?
    Thanks...........
    Message was edited by: dpasinis

    I doubt this is possible.
As Im not mistaken the F50-108 belongs to the PQF55E series and checking this model series I found and info that this notebook supports a 320GB (5400rpm) SATA HDD but it doesnt support the second HDD.
However, I would recommend checking the bottom of the unit. If there is an possibility for an HDD upgrade then you should find a second HDD bay with an HDD SATA connector.

  • Qosmio F30-140: Cannot install Windows OS - No HDD

I've bought Qosmio F30-140 and I can't install winXP from my original cd:/ The recovery cd works great but it installs a lot of stuff I don't need so I want a clean install....
so when I run my winXP cd setup I get error message: "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer"...
though I can run windows normally which is installed from the recovery cd... I think it's something with hdd drivers.
How can I overcome this? Thanx in advance:)

    Hi Sarunas
Its nothing wrong! Nothing with HDD or another hardware!
You have simply not installed the RAID driver
The Toshiba recovery CD contains the RAID driver and therefore you can install it without any problems.
But the Windows CD does not contain such driver and therefore the RAID driver must be installed at the beginning of the Windows installation setup procedure.
Windows will ask you for 3rd party RAID driver. The RAID driver you can find on the Toshiba driver page. Download it on the FDD and connect the external USB FDD drive.
From there you will be able to install the RAID driver.
    Good luck..

  • Qosmio F30 - installing new hard drive

    Hi,
I have just installed a new hard drive on my Qosmio F30 - It originally only came with one 60 GB hard drive.
The second drive is identical to the first in every way, i.e. 60 GB Toshiba drive.
I have initialised the new drive and it is showing as online and unallocated. I want to use the drive to basically increase my capacity, not as a mirror, and therefore selected this option using the RAID utility.
However when I expelore the C drive, it still only shows the total capacity of the drives as 60 GB. I assume that both drives should be showing as one drive, as 120 GB.
    Is the drive working properly?
    Thanks

    Hi!
Chad is right, you should check the BIOS if the second HDD is recognized properly. Then you can set the RAID that you want. As I understand you right you want RAID 0.
If you dont have the user manual you can download it on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download User Manual

  • Re: NTLDR and Qosmio f30-140

    Hello fellows
My Toshiba is Qosmio f30-140 ,it came with xp windows, but I installed on it windows 7 and it was working very well for almost 2 years until i got problem with the display card started as little green dots till blank screen and these were over one year so I wanted to instal new windows 7.
So i remove my main HDD and connected it to other PC and format the C partition ,and copied windows source in the C partition and made the HDD in bois as primary boot and restart BUT i got NTLDR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart
    *Notes*
1 - I have problem in the display card since i installed windows 7. i got the yellow triangle on it at device manager window.
2 - my screen doesn't work, it just appear the qosmio screen for one second and disappear when i start it. So i am using external LCD screen.
3 - I installed extra HDD (it has the space for extra HDD).
*I got Questions for you :*
1- How can i enable the laptop to boot from usb flash memory with windows 7 source
    2- How can i instal windows 7 NOOWW ????
    Thanks and appreciate any helps
    Canadian shark

NTLDR error means the Windows boot system is corrupted or there are missing files.
Try holding down the Zero (0) key during power up to initiate the Recovery Partition. If it works, you can install Windows via the original factory Windows (XP/Vista).
You can install Windows from a USB Flash Drive (I guess you need at least 8GB or 16GB), but you need to make it bootable first, then prepare Windows files.
Press F12 during power up to view the boot menu, then select USB.
If it won't boot, then the USB drive was not prepared properly, or USB emulation needs to be set to "HDD" in the BIOS.

  • Re: Need mainboard for my Qosmio F30

Hi! I think it is standard problem- overheating GPU. I can remove motherboard by myself.
Where can I find Motherboard for Toshiba Qosmio F30-141 FUHSY2 A5A001825130?

    Hello
I assume that Ika7 has already bought a new mainboard because the thread is from February 2009.
As Raver posted you have two possibilities:
    -eBay (second hand)
    -Authorized Service Provider (new part)
Furthermore the ASP can exchange the mainboard for you because its a little bit tricky and you have to remove a lot of screws.

  • Qosmio F30: Multimedia buttons not work after Vista Upgrade

I upgraded my Toshiba Qosmio F30 laptop to the Vista Home premium that I got from microsoft.
After upgrading, the multimedia keys (First row) is not working and also some of the shortcuts which is done by combining the control + Function keys (like Control+F1 to switch off the screen).
After upgrading to Vista, I updated all my device drivers with the second software dvd received with the Vista upgrade.
Also again I updated these drivers with the final Toshiba drivers for Vista dated 25/4/07 on the internet. How to restore the function of these multimedia keys and other keyboard shortcuts which is not working.

Can I ask you: Where did you downloaded the drivers and the tools software?
As I upgraded my machine I had the same problem, so a user told me watching on the Canadian Toshiba website and there I found some useful drivers.
Maybe it helps, but I cannot promise you.

  • Does Satellite P70-A-129 support the second HDD/SSD

I recently bought this model P70-A-129 from Greece, and i am wondering if it accepts a second HDD / SSD drive.
I opened the underneath cover and there is a second connector but i don't know if it is connected to the Main-board.
Can you assist me by telling me if this model can manage a second drive?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Its easy to test this
You can try to connect the HDD placed in the first HDD bay to the 2nd HDD controller in the 2nd HDD bay. In case the BIOS would recognize the HDD properly, the upgrade should be possible.
Please check also this Toshiba Satellite P70 / Qosmio X70 HDD replacement procedure.

  • Satellite A300-15M - Can I install a second HDD?

    Hi there.
I own a SatelliteA300-15M. I bought the laptop 2 years ago. I have already 250GB hard drive which came with the laptop. Recently I got my laptop serviced from local shop. I noticed that it has an additional slot for another hard drive. I saw a post that some of the A300/A305 laptops have the space for second hard drive but not the connectors.
If anyone owns A300-15M can they please tell me if i can install a second internal hard drive in my model? Is there a sure way to find if I can really install a second hard drive?

    Hello
    > but not the connectors.
So the case is claer: If you dont have a second SATA connector, you cant install a second HDD.
Check also the forum regarding such questions. The point is that one notebook series (e. g. Satellite A300) is always equipped with the same case but the hardware is different. So not all models have the same features. ;)

  • Satellite X200-245 can i install a second HDD

    on satellite X200-245 : can i install a second hard drive ?
    is it possible ?
There is a place for it but no sata connection on the mother board where can i find this connector

No you cannot install the second HDD because there is no HDD connector which would allows to connect the HDD to the mobo.
And No, its not possible to upgrade the mobo with such connector.
The X200 has the two HDD bays because some X200 support 2 HDDs and some dont support it.
Your X200 doesnt support 2 HDD

  • Qosmio F30 - no sound on Windows XP Pro

    hello,
first i have install Windows XP MCE, but few day ago i install Windows XP Profesional edition, and lose sound in my notebook.
    What was happen?
    How I can fix that?
Someone say that is becouse Qosmio F30 cannot support Profesional edition. Truth?

    Hi
The notebook support Win XP MCE and XP Pro!
The XP MCE supports some additional features but its the same OS!
I think you should firstly check if the sound driver was properly installed (check device manager). Check the sound volume control and the sound settings in the control panel!
    Do it!

  • Windows Vista Update posts 64bit driver for Qosmio F30 32bit Vista

    Hello
Today I've noticed that Windows Vista update is posting the wrong update for one of Qosmio F30 drivers.
I have Windows Vista 32Bit but Windows Update post a 64bit version of the driver.
    see the screenshot [Here|http://imagefilehost.googlepages.com/f30Wrongupdate.jpg]
    Any idea?

    hmm... this is strange ?:|
The Toshiba x64 ACPI compliant driver means definitely a 64bit version!!!
I dont know why the Vista driver update notification reports an 64bit driver for a 32bit OS but usually the 64bit driver shouldn't be compatible with the 32bit OS.
However, the case seems to be clear dont install it if the driver is not designed for your OS.
