Second monitor nor being detected through dvi-d port

Hi I have a Hp s5610y slimline. Windows 7 64 bit . It is a newer system with 3 ghz ram and over 600 g.b ram so I know it is not a performance issue, (system handling the duty) I am trying to hook up dual monitors, the product specs page on H.P states that the Vga and Dvi -d ports can both be used at the same time. I have the dvi-d converter to vga hooked up to a monitor through the Vga port on one computer ( that is not working). The port from Vga to vga works fine( the first monitor. I already check the easy stuf like "enabling dual monitor", unplugging the monitor, updating the lastest driver for radeon 3000 and restarting windows. I hooked up two monitors before with no problems. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Manny

>I have the dvi-d converter to vga ....
This will never work!
vga is an analog signal, dvi-d is digital.
Only dvi-a or dvi-i can convert to analog vga.

Either graphics card or monitor can't recognize each other.

My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!! The imac is a 21.5" and they also already bought an HD 21.5 ASUS LCD monitor to attach to it. I'm really trying to make this setup work but this is becoming a nightmare. Any suggestions? I looked up  different VGA adapters but the only options for this would be a usb-vga connection which doesn't work on macs. Can anyone tell me if this new Thunderbolt connection will work in some way? Thanks

Using the Thunderbolt port attach a Mini-display to DVI so long as the Asus display is equipped and capable, otherwise Mini-display to VGA will also work. The Thunderbolt port is ahead devices  which are not yet available to take advantage of the increased capacity in speed. Until the devices and connection cables are available, just use the port as a Mini-display port.

  • Can photos be viewed on a second monitor while being edited?

I have the use of a second monitor (better screen resolution) when using my laptop to edit photos.  Is it possible (in PSE 9) to use the second monitor to view the photo as I edit, but keep the editing tools on the laptop monitor.  This would maximise the size of the image that can be viewed.  Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply, 99jon.
I can set up the second monitor either as a copy of the laptop monitor (not ideal) or as an extension of my laptop monitor.  This being so, how can I get the image across to the external monitor?  Can it be "dragged and dropped" or is there some other way?

  • USB buss and monitor not being detected

I've been having an issue this last week, where when I start up my Mac Pro does not output video. Judging by the hard disk sounds, it is booting up, but it doesn't detect the video. I think there is an issue with the USB bus, because if I remove all usb devices (including the keyboard) when it boots up it will send video to the monitor.
I've felt since I bought the computer that something hasn't been right with the usb system, it isn't entirely hot pluggable as it should be, and sometimes some peripherals seems to be competing for resources, i.e. if I hook up a phone to sync via USB my USB midi system will won't be detected. Since Snow Leopard these issues have gotten worse, but it could just be coincidence and be an underlying hardware failure that has chosen become worse.
The times when the monitor isn't being sent video, if I press any key on the keyboard it will make a clicking sound through the built-in speaker.
Anyone experience anything similar? I would run the hardware diagnostic utility, but because I need to hold down the 'd' key on the keyboard, and having anything plugged into USB prevents it from detecting the monitor I can't run it. Thanks.

    Hello Eugene,
Interesting - possible - coincidence. I just posted about a similar seeming issue here:
    <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10425731#10425731>
Notice that I've checked Disk Utility's repairs report as well as the System Log with Console: both show mention of USB related items.
This may not have anything to do with your issue but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • External monitor not being detected

I recently sent my macBook away for repairs, it was only software problems, the engineers it seemed simply uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Since I have had it back, I cannot get it to detect my Dell 2209WA. It was fine before. I am using a mini display port adapter with a cable (not sure what the cable is called). Nothing has changed, I have pulled out cables at each end, restarted macbook, detected displays, nothing. Any advice?

When I press a button on my monitor it says "there is no signal coming from your computer. Press any key on your keyboard or mouse to wake it up or press the input button on your display to switch to another source"
The display is currently on auto detect, have cycled through options, still not being picked up.

  • CSA 4.0.3 Exempt certain IPs from being detected as source of port scanning

We have an in-house vulnerability scanner that regularly
does port scans and we don't want to see events when the source IP is from the vulnerability scanner.
We tried a network access rule but it dose not work.
    1) Network Shim is enabled
    2) Network shield rule with Port scan detection is enabled.
    3) Global correlation for scans is set to 100 within 60 minutes.
Basically we want to keep detecting port scans except scans from a specific IP.

Thanks Jay for your offer. The thing is NACL does not work in 4.0.x
Here is TAC responce for later versions (4.5.x or 5.x):
"It is possible to do this by changing the field "Commuincating with host
addresses" in the network shield rule. There are 2 ways to do this.
    1. Create an exception rule. The exception rule is of type 'Network
Shield Rule'. Make it's action 'permit'. Click Port Scan Detection to
enable it. Include the ip address of the port scanner device in
    "Communicating with host addresses".
    or
    2. Modify the original Network Shield Rule (the one with the deny
action). Next to "Communicating with host addresses", click 'Insert
Network Address Set', and click 'New'. In the new window, name the
network address set. Leave the "Address ranges matching" to and
change "but not:" to the ip address of the port scanner. Then click
'save'. Make sure that the Network Shield rule now contains your
Network address set under "Communicating with host addresses".
We typically recommend using method 1 because it prevents you from
having to modify the default rule set. But pick the method that works
    best for your configuration."

  • U430 Touch doesn't detect second monitor

I recently got a U430 but, when I connect it to my Dell S2240L monitor using an HDMI cable, the U430 doesn't detect it.  I've tested the monitor and cable.  The display driver that came on the machine is from Intel (version 10.18.10.3379).  The supported display driver listed on the Lenovo site is also from Intel but for an earlier version (10.18.10.3277).  I've read a number of threads about a second monitor not being detected.  Hase anyone else seen this?

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your U430 Touch Laptop is not connecting to the External Monitor, the issue should resolve if the latest display driver is installed in the computer, below are the link to automatically scan the computer and install the relevant driver from Intel and Nvidia:
    Intel display driver auto detect
    NVIDIA graphics driver auto detect
    Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue persists

  • Not Detecting second monitor on HP Pavilion p6-2100

I'm trying to set up dual monitors on my company's shipping computer but Windows won't detect the second monitor. Both monitors are connected using a VGA port, but the second monitor is connected to a DVI-D port via a an adaptor. Nothing has been added to the computer, I'm using the onboard video card for the connection and the latest driver has been installed.

  • Use a second monitor on a iMac G5 without iSight.

I'm wanting to use a second monitor with my iMac G5.
My iMac doesn't have Front Row or the iSight camera. It's the G5.
    I know that I need a cable that's the Mini-DVI.
But the problem is that my monitor I would like to use as a second monitor doesn't connect through S-Video, it connects through a VGA. Is there another adaptor?
    What do I need?
Pardon, if I have posted this message on the wrong area of the forum.
Any links, suggestions, ideas, or anything would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    I know that I need a cable that's the Mini-DVI.
Actually that's wrong. You need the Mini-VGA to VGA adapter, referred to in the Apple Store as the "Apple VGA Display Adapter".
I trust that you are aware that your iMac officially only supports video mirroring, so that any external monitor you connect will show the same picture, at the same resolution, as your iMac's internal screen?
BTW, for future questions, I'd suggest you try asking in the iMac G5 area. This forum is for the new Intel-based iMac and so perhaps not the most likely place for you to get a quick and accurate response.
    Good luck.

  • Selectively turn off second monitor

I am running 24" iMac with a second monitor connected via VGA (no DVI on second monitor). When I do not want to use the second monitor, I have to unplug it from the iMac so the mac stops using it. Is there an easy software switch or, preferably, a keyboard switch (like a windows F key), that I can press to disengae/reengage the second monitor? I suspect there is something in the monitors control panel, but I don't want to dive down that far every time I want to use it/not use it.

I am experiencing the same problem with a Samsung Aquos 52" connected thorough a Onkyo receiver/amplifier. The connection is DVI to HDMI to Onkyo amplifier and HDMI-HDMI to the TV. The main 23" Cinema Display flashes during turning on an off of both of TV and the amplifier and even when the TV is off and the amplifier is on, unless you restart the computer, it would keep detecting a second display, the only solution so far was to unattach the second display DVI to HDMI cable from the computer. Otherwise, several freezes occur after several flashes of the cinema display and eventually either the dock o the whole screen would freeze...Anyone knows how to avoid this issue? Btw, my id card is NVIDIA GeForce 6600.

  • How do I add a second monitor to an HP Pavilion M8200N

When I look at the ports in the back there is only one VGA port but no DVI port. There are about 4 USB ports one 1394 style port and an RCA video and audio jack labeled Input ( there is also a set on the front also showing as input) . Can any of these be used to add a second monitor. There is also a jack that looks like its for a telephone in green. and some various audio output jacks. As of now I havn't purchased a second monitor due to needing to know what ports it should have to connect with this computer. If it can't be done I will save my money.

    Hi,
Based on the following link, you don't have any choice w/o spending more money to add more hardware:
      http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01151028&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
To be honest, I would not spend more money to this machine, this may end up cost more money than to buy a new machine (w/o monitors - assuming you already have 2 monitors).
    Regards.

  • Crazy crazy crazy! Airport loses internet when second monitor attached!

Can this really be happening? I decided to try using a second monitor attaching via a mini dvi -dvi converter. Several attempts to get it recognised by the iMac without any success. Scoured the internet groups to see that very many (and I mean very many) others had this problem.
Solved it by swapping my dvi-I lead for a dvi-D lead. The difference is that the DVI-I lead has fewer pins than the DVI-D lead and the iMac mini dvi socked supplies a DVI-D signal. Phew!
So--pleased with myself at surmounting this I fired up Final Cut Pro, dragged the canvas window to the second monitor and had to play around with the resolution setting to get a stable playing of the timeline.
Decided to go on online and see if I was alone on this.
    NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!
30 mins later decided to unplug the second monitor (Philips 200) and got back my inet connection.
Tried the routine again and sure enough each time the second monitor was connected I lost the Airport connection!
Is it possible that the proximity of the second monitor fouls the wireless signal?
    Or what?

    Kaybee31 wrote:
So far no one has either claimed the same problem or offered a possible explanation.
As I said this loss of internet connection when 2nd monitor is connected is unbelievably odd.
It sounds like another case of EMI (Electromagnetic interference). I believe this is at the root of all these weird Airport or wireless problems. Interestingly enough many of these anomalies are exhibited on the newer generation Macs. Different materials were used, shielding could have been compromised either for cost cutting or by design error. Regardless I'm sure Apple is aware, unfortunately those who purchased these machines may be in the worse case, left with hard wiring for reliable internet and or network connections.......sorry.....

  • 2007 iMac, upgraded to Mavericks, second monitor now intermittently blinking

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics.
Upgraded from Snow Leopard here at work, running dual monitors via DVI cable. Never a problem previously.
Upgraded to Mavericks. Enjoying it. Until the 2nd monitor (Acer v223w) started intermittently blinking.
Kinda befuddled. Can't find any answers. Any help?

Same issue here and its really killing me.
When I disconnect the second monitor from the iMac and plug it back in, the blinking stops for a little while. But then it starts up again.
It seems to blink more when I'm using Chrome (latest version 30.x) with multiple browser windows accross both displays.
    iMac 20-inch Early 2008
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
    Mavericks 10.9
Second monitor HP w2207 connected with DVI cable and adapter.
Under Mission Control system preferences, I have Displays have separate Spaces unchecked, disabling the new Multiple Displays Mavericks feature.
    Hope that hleps.

  • DVI - D Port not working?

    Hi,
I was running my monitor using a DVI to VGA cable on the DVI-I Port, was working fine until recently i decided to add a second monitor. I got a DVI to HDMI cable for the second DVI-D port. When i plugged both in and restarted the display went out on the second monitor after the windows logo appeared. Is this a problem with the DVI-D port? Any suggestions on how to fix it. I am currently using the DVI-I port with DVI to HDMI cable plugged into my second monitor which is working fine.
I have the HP s5-1224 Slimiline tower.

    From the specs:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03355381&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5231538#N53...
it should work, as long as you don't need too many graphics power.
    >When i plugged both in and restarted the display went out
Why don't you test to connect the second monitor while the pc is running?
Run the vga monitor first, then connect the second and change the monitor settings...
