Second Screen (TV) Only uses Pink-Black Colors!?

I don't remember when it happend, but for some time now, I have my TV, which I have connected :
MiniDVI-DVI -> DVI-HDMI -> TV
... I have it to view movies on and I've used it many many times.
But then all of a sudden, reasons unknown, the colors went from normal to only pink-black.
I've tried hooking the iMac with the same MiniDVI-DVI to a display with DVI and it shows up normal there.
I've hooked another computer to the TV with the DVI-HDMI cable, worked fine aswell.
I bought a new MiniDVI-DVI dongle (both are official apple), but with the same pink-black result.
Now remains OSX and The iMac MiniDVI-Port (but since it works with another monitor, I've ruled that one out)
Any hint's ideas what could be the freakin' problem!?

I assume the color on the iMac's screen is normal, when it is messed up in the HDTV screen, correct?
Did you open System Preference Displays pane and try adjusting the various settings on the pane for the HDTV? If you cannot see it because of this problem, you can move the window to the iMac's screen by using the +Gather Windows+ button (on the iMac's preference pane).
Try adjusting the available settings (such as resolution and colors), even if the current settings are correct. If you get a positive change, change it back to the original settings and see if it is now working better.
If that does not help, try resetting PRAM. Some display settings are stored in PRAM, and they may have become corrupted.

  • HP Photosmart 7510 will ONLY use photo black ink

I have a photosmart 7510 printer and I'm printing from microsoft word 2010 on a windows 8 computer. I'm printing a word document with no pictures in it. The printer preferences are set to Plain Paper with Normal quality. I cannot get the printer to use the XL black ink cartridge. It only uses the photo black ink. Is there a setting I can choose to get it to use the regular black ink?
    This question was solved.

    Hi shirsar,
I understand you have a Photosmart 7510 that seems to be using a lot more of the photo black than the regular black ink. I'm sorry to hear this, but believe I can assist you with a solution.
You can set the printer to use black ink only when printing from the PC and that should ensure that it uses that the black ink and not the photo ink. My instructions will be to set it up in the driver so it does it for all programs (if you want it for just the program please let me know and I will advise further). You will want to start with going to your Start screen, and just start typing Devices and Printers and you will want to open that (if that doesn't work type in Control Panel and then proceed to open Devices and Printers). Once Devices and Printers is open, right click on your Photosmart 7510 icon and select Printing Preferences. You will then want to click the Advanced button at the bottom right of the screen. The next page that opens will allow you to set the printer to use Black Ink Only when printing from the PC (please follow the screen shot below for any clarification).
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Odd 'shadow' type artefact on the screen. ONly in the 'black' or 'key'

I notice a ribbon shaped artefact roughly in the middle of my screen. It was only visible ata first agaisnt the grey background in iphoto.
So, I did a screen test- which turns to screen pixels to 100% red or blue or green etc.
The arefact was not visible at all on any of those test.
Only when the 'black' is tested, ie all pixels set to RGB (0,0,0) was it clearly visible.
Any idea what it might be? It is the only fault I can pick with the machine.

I remember way back when I got my first Mac I was using with a desk lamp on and I looked at the screen and thought there was a weird shadow in the middle. It turned out to be light shining through the Apple logo. Try covering the Apple logo with a folder or something and see if it goes away.

  • Why does printer only use lg black pigment cartridge, becoming very expensive!!!

We have the Canon PIXIMA MG5320 ink jet printer.  Our printer is using the large pigment cartridge (PGBK 225) for normal printing instead of the small one (BK 226) is this correct? We have never had to replace the small cartridge (BK226) and have had to replace the large pigment cartridge (PGBK225) at least every two (2) weeks, this is becoming quite expensive. Please advise us of how to use the small cartridge for normal printing instead of the pigment cartridge. We thought the pigment cartridge was for printing pictures!
    Thank you very much
    Mary

    Hello poornurse.
The large 225BK black tank is a pigment based tank and is primarily used for standard black text printing or output.
The smaller black ink tank is dye based like the color inks, and is used for photo and graphics output.
You can adjust the quality setting to 'fast' in order to reduce the amount of ink that is used.  This will help conserve the ink used from the large black tank with your normal print jobs.

  • Can't move to second screen of survey (uses Flash Player 9)

    Hi,
I was trying to fill out a survey on www.949thesound.com (The
Sound Choice Awards), and when I clicked on the link to access the
survey, I was able to place a checkmark in one of the choices on
the first page of the survey. It seems like the survey should have
automatically moved to the next screen after that, but it didn't. I
right-clicked on the screen and saw that the survey was using Adobe
Flash Player 9 (which I have installed on my computer). Will you
please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue and have the
survey jump to the next screen automatically like it should?
    Thank you so much!
    Catherine

Thank you Malcolm for the response. An excellent idea which I hadn't tried.
I actually had zapped the PRAM several times (and even reset PMU) but did not think to do it with the DVI->VGA adaptor removed, so I just tried this. Unfortunately this didn't solve it. After removing the DVI-> VGA adaptor from port 2 and zapping PRAM (twice), I now am getting an "unsupported input" message on the monitor connected to Port 1 with the DVI->VGA adaptor still removed from port 2. So if anything this state is worse.
This is very strange--because when I put the DVI adaptor back on port 2, the situation returns to where it was before as described. After a hardware reboot I have the aqua screen with missing login window again. It seems zapping the PRAM did not do it here. It also seems this DVI->VGA adaptor is definitely having an effect on the situation. Why would connecting a DVI-VGA adaptor on port two cause port one to regain function and why would removing it cause port 2 to go dead essentially?
At any rate, I am still unable to use the computer...

  • Black Window on second screen in Photoshop CS6

    Hi Guys,
hope you can help me with the following issue.
Ive booted my computer up and started photoshop. i use a second screen, its installed automaticly on Mac OSX 1.8.
Now, when i drag the file to th second screen, it appears to become black. if i drag it back to my Home-Screen, the content appears.
resizing dont change anything as well as disable the graphic processor on photoshop.
btw, a second restart solves the issue. but i dont want to restart my machine everytime when i work on photoshop.
hope anyone can help me out.
    thanks guys.

The feature as provided by Adobe may have bugs (I wouldn’t know) but it is one issue where bugs of the OS or the GPU drivers may mislead users to believe that there is a Photoshop bug when really it is somebofy else’s fault, but they only become apparent because Photoshop may make higher demands on certain components than other applications.

  • HP 7520 -- how to print using large black ink cartridge?

Hi, I've got the HP 7520 with the two black ink cartridges, one small and one large. However, as best I can tell, it's only using the black ink from the small cartridge, even when I print only in black and white (or "high quality grayscale"). Since 95% of the printing I need to do is just black and white (text, mostly) this is kindof annoying -- is there a way to force/encourage it to use the black in the bigger cartridge.
The reasons I believe it's not using the big ink cartridge is
    1) I've had to replace the small one half a dozen times in a pretty short time; the big one I haven't not at all, and it still shows up as full when I check ink levels2) when printing in B/W starts to get streaky, I run the "Print qualty diagnostic" page, and the "Black" section shows up as streaky but the "Photo" section (which appears to correspond to the larger blank ink cartridge) looks fine.
Also, when I photocopy in B/W it appears to work fine even when printing in B/W is not, so presumbly that's because it's using the big ink cartridge then.
Thanks in advance for the help/advice.
    -Mike

The large cartridge is black, the smaller cartridge is the photo cartridge.  There are a few things to check:
Make sure the proper media type is selected in the driver.  If you are mostly printing on plain paper make sure to select Plain Paper in the driver rather than Automatic.  It is possible for Automatic to misidentify the paper and think it is using photo paper.  When printing to photo paper the black cartrdige will not be used, only the photo and color cartridges.
In the driver settings for "Print in grayscale" select "Black ink only".

  • Live Migration only using one live migration adapter

    Hi,
I have a 2 node cluster spanning two buildings, 4 switches (2 in each building), 2 live migration NICs in each server. I have NIC1 going through switch 1 and NIC2 going through switch 2, same in the other building.
everything talks fine to each other. I decided to team the Live Migration networks so I can get more transferring at once (getting 2Gbps instead of 1, this seemed like a good idea at the time but when I ran a test scenario of failing one of the switches
the live migration was unable to complete (despite the switches being stacked together, maybe I have a config issue I dont know).
so I destroyed the team and thought I'd have two seperate live mig channels, i select these two live mig channels in as live migration networks in failover cluster manager. when i try to live migrate a bunch of VM's it is only using the one adapter, no matter
how many VM's are going down there it will deal with 2 at a time (as per hyper-v settings).
the question is, why is not using my other live migration channel even though that adapter is configured correctly, I have even moved it up in the list and then it will use it so i know it works, but it won't use both together...?
    thanks
    Steve

Live Migration uses the first network interface in the order you configured it. As far as I know the second interface is only used when the first interface becomes unavailable. But don't pin me on this. Now back to your NIC teaming, because there
is one thing you should know:
When you configure a NIC team without a switch assisted (LACP) configuration your team will have a 2x1Gb outbound and 1x1Gb inbound connection. This is probably why you only get 1x1Gb througput.
When you configure a NIC team with a switch assisted (LACP) configuration you team will have a 2x1Gb outbound and 2x1Gb inbound connection. Such a NIC teaming configuration is in fact a port-channel / ether-channel like you would configure between switches.
    This is an optimal configuration.
I hope this information makes more sense to you. If you have any questions let me know.

  • The video app on my iPad now only shows a black screen. Used to work fine then crashed in the middle of a short video.

The video app on my iPad now only shows a black screen. Used to work fine then crashed in the middle of a short video.  When I open the app the screen is just blank. As it is a default app I can't delete and reinstall. Anybody else experience this?

Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Can I use the black ink cartridge only, & quit replacing the color cartridge when it's empty?

I have an HP Officejet 6210 all in one printer that takes color ink (#95) and black ink (#94).   I only want to print in black and white.   The color cartridges are more expensive and since I don't want to use them, I don't want to replace it.  Can I have the printer bypass the color cartridge (and the notifications that come with an emply cartridge) so it will allow me to use the black cartridge (#94) only and let the #95 sit there empty?  (ie it tries to print from there and I get the blank sheets...want to default it to the black ink cartridge 100% of time.)  I waste too much money on ink and wish to use the cheaper cartridge (#94) always.

Can't agree more. HP's strategy of getting more sells of its cartrige is notorious. It really drives consumers away. I am ditching my HP printer and getting a Brother instead.

  • No audio when with second monitor attached and using Extend, Duplicate,or Second Screen Only modes

When I attached a second monitor via HDMI cable and try to use Duplicate, Extend, or Second Screen only display modes, I can get the video to display and run but I get no audio unless I set the notebook display settings to P/C Only mode.  I really want to use the second screen for PowerPoint/Presenter View and play a embedded video (along with the sound).  Even if I try to play a YouTube video I can only get audio when in P/C Screen Only mode.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
