Second sync of iPod 5G fails, Right Click Sync or Apply
When I first plug my iPod 5G into my Mac Pro, it automatically updates, like it should. When I right click on the iPod in iTunes and click "Sync," however, iTunes says updating iPod, but the iPod itself does nothing. Eventially I get a message in the top window in iTunes: "iPod update failed. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again."
The same issue happens if I also make any changes to the iPod preferences in iTunes and click Apply.
This issue started last week under iTunes 6, and continues under iTunes 7.
I tried a full reset of the iPod, trash of all iPod and iTunes prefs, Premission Fix, and the issue continues.
All latest firmware and system updates.
Any thoughts??
Thanks, Scott K.

I get the same error with my 30G video iPod. It will update normally when first plugged in but if I make any changes and click "apply" then the link times out and I get "The settings could not be saved because the iPod can not be found."
The iPod icon is in my device list and I can browse it's contents.
I am flying out this afternoon and have desperately been trying to add some videos to watch since last night! I will try to restore the iPod and re-load the most recent software. (I already ran the 1.2 upgragde)

My itunes wont sync my ipod touch, when i click sync it says that it is syncing but it wont sync, im sorry but i just cant exacly explain it
It sounds like you need to set it up, and that makes sense because you said that its a new iPod. Just go through the steps of setting up a new iPod and you should be good.

Thanks, Scott K.Some additional information...
With "Enable disk use" OFF, I would plug in my iPod, it would sync fine, then unmout iteslf from the Desktop, and stay in iTunes as expected.
Then when I right click the iPod icon in iTunes, and select "Update" (iTunes 6) or "Sync" (iTunes 7), I first get a dialog box saying: "Waiting for iPod...", then after 30 seconds it times out and I get a message at the top of the iTunes window saying: "iPod update failed. disconnect and reconnect, then try again."
If I unplug, and reconnect the iPod, it will sync fine.
This started happening a week before I updated to iTunes 7, so it is not an iTunes 7 issue. I re-installed iTunes 6, trashed prefs, ran disk utility, premissions fix. No go...

When syncing my ipod it's started to sync music that's "unticked". How do I stop this??
Make sure the Sync only checked songs and videos option is NOT ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and select it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes. You should now be under the Summary tab. Be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner after making the change to the settings.

Cannot sync my ipod because it is already synced with another library?
i just bought a new laptop and i transferred my itunes library with an external drive but now when i go to sync my ipod it says it cannot sync t two libraries. it gives me an option to erase Any ideas?
This is correct.
As you have copied everything to your new computer, this shouldn't be a problem. -
I had my iPod set up and everything then when I hooked or up to my computer iTunes told me that my iPod could not be read and that I needed to restore it, so I did that and after when i plugged it into iTunes and selected the songs that I wanted to put on my iPod and clicked sync it started to sync but right when it gets to the end it goes blank and says choose your songs/playlists once again and I have to start all over. I have followed instructions for transferring my iTunes library from my MacBook Pro to my iPod. The summary window shows lots of unused memory and it partly fills when I hit "sync," but then returns to nearly empty and the music does not show up on my iPod--"no music." Any suggestions would be appreciated. l've read all the instructions I can find. Thanks.

I am trying to sync my ipod to my mac desktop but it wont highlight. does anyone know why?
See if http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 helps. Often this also means the Apple Mobile Service needs to be reinstalled.

is that how that works?
It does not. In order to sync content to an iPod, it needs to be stored in your iTunes library first and you cannot sync content directly from iPod to another.
So what you'll need to do is copy the content from the one iPod to your iTunes library first. Then set your other Nano up to sync this content to it.
See this article from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to copy music from your iPod back to iTunes.

I cloud is on for notes and calendar on both devices. They have the same default calendar. It's just wierd that i can write a note on the iPad and it shows up on the iPod, but not the other way around. Same with adding calendar events. What's going on?
First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing. -

Since I got the last update of itunes, my 3rd gen will sync new pieces of music but it won't sync a new playlist I created and it has "lost" one I had before. Any ideas why and what I can do to cure the problem?
if you have done restores then possibly it is a firmware issue... i would take it to the apple store if you can to get it looked at...

Failed sync, now ipod will not shutdown, reset or connect to iTunes
Was syncing my ipod touch 4g and the sync failed with a message something along the lines of "cannot sync as there is already a sync running".
Now the ipod is really slow. It will now power off. Hard reset brings it back to the same state. When I plug into PC, itunes hangs for a while, but does not recognise the ipod.
Any suggestions?I would reboot the computer and then place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore it via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode see:
