Second thoughts about my pro "13

I need to make up my mind by tomorrow!! ....Should I keep my "13 pro late 2011 or trade for an 13' air ?? Has people on here had a lot of trouble with their DVD drive. Will the DVD drive last a few years??... Other words do I have to worry about keeping the laptop sitting straight up on a table or desk in order to keep the DVD drive from going bad.. The reason why I ask this is because someone told me that they messed up their DVD drive by letting it hang off their lap while working on it while in bed. Also Someone told me that the first of the pro's in this years line meaning the 13 inch doesn't have a good processor like the higher up pro's do ? Also I seem to hear the fan running just about all the time on my pro ....even when I'm just doing something very light such as reading a article online.....Is this normal?? yep, I'm starting to worry at the last minute if I made a good choice or should I have chose the air mac.... since I was going after something portable anyway. I like the Pro ....just wondering if it is going to hold up as easy as the mac air?? The store saleman told me that if I have the pro in the car .... and I happen to drive on a rocky road that it might be bad for it !!! :-/ Maybe he was just trying to sale me the Air!! ... but I do hear more people bragging about the Air these days!!

I have had my 13" Early 2011 MBP since May and have had no problems with the optical drive. All notebooks are meant to be used on a flat, cool surface to optimize airflow for cooling purposes. No one can predict how long any part in a mac will last, failure is always possible.
Also Someone told me that the first of the pro's in this years line meaning the 13 inch doesn't have a good processor like the higher up pro's do ? The i5 is fine for me. Of course, the i7 in the more expensive models is better. I dont hear the fan all that often, I usually hear them fans when they exceed 3,500 rpm's.

Second thought about extracting classification characteristics values

     I have a question about uploading material classification data into BW, I know I can extract this classification data by new datasource set up by transaction CTBW. this is the normal way to extract classification data . I just want to do it in another way technically. My question is : can I enhance some BC datasources such as : 0EC_PCA_3, in this way, I will do this enhancement as follows:
   (1) enhance transaction DS by classification characteristics , such as 0EC_PCA_3.
   (2) customize master DSes for classification characteristics.
   (3) create infoobject in BW corresponding to classification characteristics
   (4) put those infoobjects into the same dimension as material in the infocube which is the datatarget for 0EC_PCA_3
   (5) load master data for those infoobjects for classification characteristics
   (6) load transaction data for enhanced transaction DS 0EC_PCA_3
by the procedure, I also can get the information for those classification characteristics, please correct me .

Hi,
You can use CMOD to enhance 0MATERIAL_ATTR as an alternative to CTBW transaction but keep in mind that Material classification has to do with master data.
That is the main reason why enhancing transactional data datasources with master data attributes should be avoided if possible. Even if you need to report on historical truth, you can accomplish it by using Read master data feature on transformations (for example, when you load your InfoCube, you can read material classification master data from 0MATERIAL instead of 0EC_PCA_3).

About Mac Pro RAM and one "Nehalem" Processor 2.8 vs 3.2

Unfortunately I don't have so much money to spend but I find Apple products very high quality and in same time very expensive, specially for my country (Russia), according to statistic, it’s less then 1% of people that using Mac Pro in here, my country really poor :/
I never use Mac before, but I think that time is come and I would like to buy one on my birthday soon (22 November). I really tired of my crazy PC with Vista, it’s always bugs lags, and so on, it’s poor machine. I can buy new PC with i7, nice performances or buy Mac, but I think, Mac will be more quality and stable.
I'm web designer and programmer and using my PC with Adobe programs, normally Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, very rare with After Effect (1 day per month). Sometimes I’m playing games like Dragon Age or CS:Source, Starcraft2. But I got PS3, but unfortunately it’s connected to our main home TV, and I can’t play PS3 because all day this TV watching my family :/ lol
I’m not sure if there are any way to connect PS3 to TV and computer screen at the same time… but it’s another question.
Now about Mac I'm wondering of buying cheapest Mac Pro 2010:

And maybe because of this, it’s better to order processor with 3.2Ghz, and a bit more RAM (8GB (4x2GB))? What you think?
And what will be the different between this 2 processors and more RAM? Because it will be +800 USD or so, and it’s very expensive for me (pay addition 800 Dollars), I just want to ask you if it will costs this money. Unfortunately I can’t spend more money on Mac to buy 6-core Westmare and more RAM But I think cheapest Mac, for my tasks already very powerful and awesome, what you think?
And if you’ll advice me, not to pay addition 400 USD for +0.4Ghz, and the different is very little, then what you think about addition Ram for stock MAC?

About Logic Pro 9.1.7

a) A couple of months ago I installed on my Macbook the "EWI USB by Akai" (a program for midiSax).
After that, when I start the Logic Pro this message appears:
An error has occurred with an installed Audio Unit plug-in.
Logic Pro unexpectedly quit while trying to use the Audio Unit "EWI USB" by "Akai".
This plug-in may require an update.
I uninstalled the "EWI USB by Akai", updated the OS (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)), but the message appears again.
What should I do?
b) I purchased the Logic Pro in the App Store. Do I have the right installing this program on a second computer? If "yes" , then how?

Logic can only export to movie when running in 32-bit, this is because Logic uses Quicktime for exporting, Logic and QT do not work together in 64-bit. Supposedly a QT update is needed but since it's been like that for over a year I wouldn't hold my breath. Run Logic in 32-bit and the feature should be available.

About MacBook Pro Warranty

Hi guys,
I just have two quick questions about MacBook Pro,
First, how to identify a refurbished apple product? For example, if i am going to buy a MacBook from eBay, how do i know if it is not a refurbished laptop, is there a code which can be checked or something else?
second, what are the necessary documents for Apple Warranty if i am not in the country where i bought the product?

The warranty is good worldwide and is tied to the machine's serial number, not to anything else. If your MBP's serial number identifies it in Apple's records as a machine that was sold for the first time +or factory refurbished and sold again+ within the past year, it will be covered anywhere.
Any Mac that has been refurbished by Apple is sold with the same warranty as a brand new computer, so you should have no qualms at all about buying a refurb. The warranty-coverage status of any Mac can be determined immediately by entering its serial number into the box on this page:

Just bought a macbook...having second thoughts...

Today i bought a white macbook, the $1299 one. Anyway, I haven't opened it yet, and after reading through these forums I am having some second thoughts. I have never used a mac, and my decision came down to the macbook and a toshiba M105-S084 with a duo core processor, 2 GB RAM and a 120 GB HD for 999...a great deal, but I still decided on the MAC because I heard such great things about reliability. Now I am afraid I am going open the box and have a really really slow computer that shuts down, catches fire, and moos. I am seriously considering returning it and just getting the Toshiba...at least I am used to PC problems: freezing, spyware, pop-ups, etc. Also, is the macbook worth keeping if I can't afford to upgrade the RAM? Will this laptop be obsolete in 6 months? 60 GB of HD doesn't really seem like much considering my ipod is 40 GB.
I'd appreciate any insight...

My personal opinion is your not going to be completely happy with the MacBook in it's current configuration. One, you really need to add more RAM to it--(suggest adding 1G for starters)--or you may run into slow performance. Two, that 60G hard drive is going to fill up fast--especially if you add a lot of music and podcasts to it. I ordered the 100GB HD for mine and it's nearly filled, and I don't even have all my music loaded on it.

And secondly, you can have variables of type int and variables of type Integer. What is the difference?Integer is a wrapper class for the primitive int type. It allows you to use int-type concepts in places where an Object is required. But don't over-use these as there is a memory and performance overhead that must be taken into consideration.

After upgrading to 10.7.2, my iMac works fine for 40-50 minutes, then slows to a crawl. Restart gets back to normal, then 40 minutes later need to restart again. Thought about reinstalling Lion through Lion Recovery, but says my hard disk is locked?

Launch the Terminal app in /Utilities/, run these two commands (copy & paste each one separately and hit the return key):
sudo chflags 0 /volumes/*
sudo chmod a+rx /volumes/*
at the Password: prompt, type in your admin password, carefully since nothing displays on the screen, and hit the return key. These should unlock your drives. You might have to restart.

If restarting Mac or reinstalling OS X does not correct this symptom, you likely have a hardware problem. Contact Apple Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service.

I can't be the first person to have thought about this but...would n't it be nice if instead of having to naviagte with your mouse to go back a page in Safari, wouldn't it make sense to just have a keyboard stroke to do that?

Try the following:
In Finder, select the problematic volume and then press command-I.
Expand the Sharing & permissions section if it's collapsed.
If the section is locked, then unlock it by pressing the padlock button and then authenticating as directed.
Tick/check Ignore ownership on this volume.

I've checked your account—you have two ExportPDF subscriptions. One placed on October 20 2013, and the other placed on October 11 of this year. So, you were probably charged the auto renewal for the subscription placed in 2013, and then the new charge for this year's order.
Please Contact Customer Care so that an agent can help get things situated for you. There's no reason to have two subscriptions to the same service, so an agent can help you cancel one, if you'd like.

Apple US only sells computers with the "LL/A" suffix. What do you mean by "support"? With the proper font installed, you can type and download documents in the Arabic language.

HELP!!! LOADING ICON SHOWS EVERY 5 SECONDS FOR ABOUT 3SECONDS!

I have a BlackBerry Curve 9250 for about 7 months now. I have no problems with my phone and it works well and I love it. But something must have happened cause the black loading icon on the center of the screen keeps on showing every 5 seconds for about 3seconds and my phone freezes everytime the loading icon appears.
I left the house in the morning, my phone's battery is fully charged. I did nothing special with my phone, just the usual calls and texts. I didn't download any apps either. But I was using wifi during the day so when afternoon came, the battery was already orange. When I arrived home around 10 in the evening, I checked my phone and the battery was already red so I plugged it in to charge. When it started charging, that's when the loading icon started appearing. It appears every 5seconds and it freezes the screen for about 3seconds. Now that the battery is fully charged, it still does the same thing. But now, it appears every 3 seconds and freezes for about 2seconds. What to do????

Have you tried a Battery pull Restart on your BlackBerry ?
Please do it by removing the Battery while your device is Powered On then wait for at least a minute then reinsert it back, your device may take a long reboot . After reboot please check if your current issue resolves.
If issue persists then you have to investigate it further ! That spining clock or hourglass appears when our device undergo low memory or if any application runs in the background. Sometime A battery pull restart is enough to resolve this issue, If we press and hold the Menu for a few seconds, it will pop up a screen which will show all running programs in the background ,generally five will always there ( Home, BBM, Message,Phone , Browser ) look if any other apps. are running.
Also Check the File Free at Options > Status > Check File Free , In addition have you enabled Memory Cleaner on your device? Options > Security > Memory Cleaner, is it enabled ? If it is then disable it because It is also responsible for device freezing and clocking.
If that doesn't help then you can follow this Knowledge Base article :
