Secondary correction with a vignette softness around

I've color corrected in secondary room using a vignette. I put some feather around the vignette to blend more smoothly between inside and outside of the vignette. But when I render it and export it in FCP, the final output has the choppy gradation in the softness area.
Could you advice what I am missing here? Or it's the way Color does?

I was wondering if it was an 8-bit / 10-bit thing. While ProRes supports 10-bit processing, which should yield nice, smooth gradations, I still don't know what your original source media bit-depth is. If it was something like HDV, XDCam, or DVCProHD (all of which are native source 8-bit formats), then there will still be some limitations to the subtlety you can achieve in a grade.
A few versions ago, there were some large concerns about the rendered vignette softness performance, but that was basically between Final Touch and the first version of COLOR which seemed to be a big improvement at least in that regard.
Be careful selecting "Original Format" as a render option. Sometimes COLOR takes that literally, and even if your sequence codec is ProRes.... if you've got DVCPro media imbedded in it, you will get DVCPro back, not ProRes. There was an issue with Uncompressed 10-bit not too long ago where "Original Format" would return AJA RGB and not Apple Uncompressed.
Try a couple of clips and explicitly render to ProRes 422(HQ) or even uncompressed. Report back, please.

My screen dims and shrinks with a blue outline around the window. It won't let me do anything unless it goes back to normal, but it won't stay that way for long. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

When I start up my screen will rapidly shrink to a smaller size with a blue border around the window. It rapidly goes from full screen to this smaller screen with the blue border and back again. It seems to be affected by the use of the mouse. My mouse was old so I bought a new one....didn't help. When I have to tabs or two applications open they seperate, shrink, and appear simultaniously on the screen. This just started happening.

Secondary Index with or without MANDT field

HI ABAP Guru's,
What is necessary to add field MANDT while creation of secodary index in DBS.
But i some body my superiors challanged to me with out using MANDT our secoday index won't works.
But i tested few scenarios i am not get differnce.
please advice me exactly which scenarios it is mandatory.

WHERE clause decides about data being selected, deleted or what-ever.
Index decides only about HOW data is accessed (if used), not WHAT data is accessed.
If your database returns a different result depending on the indexdefinition,
you should log a call at your DB vendor immediately, because this is a bug.
In general, as the client has usually only a small number of distinct values, it is not a good field,
to convince the database, that this index is a good idea. But on high volume tables it can be very selective
as far as the number of result records is concerned (might cut down 50% when 2 clients!).
In addition it is a very short field, so it should not cost much storage (esp. when compressable).
Szenario:
MANDT+IDX-Field with two clients and lets say 5000 record per client (so that idx access will be interesting),
assuming a given IDX value will return 50 records (25 in each client).
So the select will be
... WHERE MANDT=sy-mandt AND IDX=value
Accesing the index with only IDX will result in stepping down the index-tree (say 3 blocks) and then reading leafblocks
to get the 50 hits for IDX-value (assuming 30 records per leafblock -> 2 leafblocks required to gret the 50 records)
Right now you have accessed 5 blocks to get the address of 50 records that still need to be checked against MANDT.
So there is need to get 50 blocks (may be less, depending on clustering) to do a filter on MANDT
and get the final 25 records for the result.
If you put the MANDT field into the index it might require more space, so that we assume 20 records per leaf block now.
But since you can now filter MANDT already on the index blocks, you will again only need to get 5 blocks and
have the adress of the required 25 target records.
So getting the result is 55 blockinspections without MANDT in index and 30 blockinspections with MANDT in index in this case.
Now you can start pushing around values and statistics an calculate at what amount of data and average
size of resultsets it becomes right or wrong to include MANDT. It may turn out both ways, allthough I think
with MANDT being small, it is usually loss of brain cycles to calculate around for this.
You simply include it, it will cost only little space and it will never be wrong.
You leave it out, you will gain little space, but might end up with performance loss.
If you have only one client in the system, you can safely go with the saving space strategie, as long as you do not need
a UNIQUE secondary index.

Lens Correction problem - double vignetting?

On some but not all of older images, with xmp's deleted and all caches cleared, I end up with a over vignette effect, as shown below. Haven't been able to correlate it with other than images previously processed in 2003 then 2010. The .nef file date did not change. And before somebody asks the manual controls were all at neutral. D300 and 16-85VR lens with downloaded profile.

Shot the proverbial brick wall this morning at 42mm, very evenly illuminated. Vignetting correction with slider at 100 yielded the attached image. Slider at 20 corrects ok.
Adobe please help, this profile should not have made it thru your screening process. Other than this problem it works well.

Redraw problems on secondary monitor with 2 Acrobat documents

When I have two overlapping Acrobat 9 documents open on my secondary monitor and I click on the Acrobat doc in the background to bring it to the front, the image from the Acrobat doc that was in front is captured in the Acrobat document that I brought to the front.
I can't reproduce this problem on my primary monitor with Acrobat, and I can't reproduce this problem with any program on my secondary monitor. And I can't reproduce this problem on my secondary monitor with two document open with Adobe reader 8.0

I have the same problem here, but with either monitor.
Dell Precision T7400 Quadcore Xeon with 4GB RAM & Windows XP 32bit, Quadro 1700, two Dell 2001FPs (1200x1600)
Both my monitors are rotated 90' in Portrait mode. In landscape this doesn't appear to happen.
Acrobat 9.0 Pro, now patched to Acrobat 9.1
I can view full-monitor for a while, but then Acrobat stops redrawing/repainting properly when the window size exceeds a (variable) limit.
As a work-around, I start making the acrobat window size smaller until the window will redraw.
As time goes by, I have to keep making the window size smaller and smaller to get redraw work.
Eventually the window size required for redraw gets small enough that it's just too annoying and then I reboot the machine which makes it all good again for a short amount of time.
This and the OCR bug are my two biggest issues with Acrobat 9.

I cannot access my Itunes following latest update.Solution suggests take it off.If I do I have been told I will lose all my downloads.Is that correct.Is there a way around it?

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)

I am being repetedly asked to verify certificates and also cannot use xmarks as it does not appear to work correctly with my current version of firefox (8.0) and my mac 10.6.8. I tried removing and reinstalling but unsuccesfully.

whenever i start firefox i receive a message saying that the certificate is not recognised - it is a certificate relating to xmarks.
in fact upon installation i received another message stating that it wouldnt work correctly with my version of firefox. now i have updated firefox but receive the same message.
thinking that it was an issue relating to certificates i went into "preferences" and removed all the certificates in the "authorities" section also given that i didnt recongnise any of them (e.g. turktrust!!).

Print profiles no longer working correctly with CS6 64bit to my Epson R2880

Hi, until recently, my print profiles were working correctly with CS6 64bit (Win 7 ultimate 64) to my Epson R2880, they now print washed out/desaturated but the same profiles still print correctly using Lightroom 4. has there been an update that could have affected things or are there any other suggestion? I recently bought my first Mac, a great MacBook Pro which I love!
I use Lightroom3 and Photoshop CS5 to edit photos and now want to print from my Epson R1800.
I found that the prints initially came off very dark & contrasty, so I calibrated both the MBP screen and my Samsung SuncMaster 245B monitor with my Spyder2 and the Colorvision software.
Even after establishing colour profiles for both screens, the printed image was still far darker and "heavier" than that shown on screen. This was the same whether printing from LR3 or from the Mac Preview app (it was worth trying I thought!).
So searching for help on the web I came across this thread and now wonder whether I should uninstall my driver (6.57) and reinstall the printer with 6.23.
Stephen did you find that this worked - did PS CS5 behave after that?
Of course I'm trying to print some work soon and in desperation could adjust every (edited) image by brightening & reducing contrast, however with dozens to print it seems crazy to do that, not to mention wrong!

It's orientation lock. Double tap the home button, swipe left to right, far left is the orientation lock. Tap on/off. Tap home button when finished.

There is no such thing as "best" and "inexpensive", you either want one or the other but you cannot get both. IMHO I'd recommend OWC's Mercury Elite Pro (www.macsales.com) however because you are on the other side of the pond you may want to consider a Lacie product. High quality, not cheap but good stuff for the most part.

Notice that characters from the Unicode range 0x4F1E .. 0x4А2D are not displayed within <s:Label> component that uses Flash Text Engine (FTE) by default to display the text, but at the same time those characters display just fine within older <mx:Label> component that relies on flash.text.TextField instance to render the text.

   My current install of Windows XP already includes the install of Microsoft Office 2007 and I've also enabled/disabled the support of East Asian languages, thus the content of my "fonts" folder differs now significantly from "clean" Windows XP install version.

3GS doesn't work correctly with Bluetooth headset?

Why won't my husband's 3GS work correctly with Bluetooth headset? I have a 4S, and I bought a Plantronics 903 Bluetooth headset, and it plays music great out of headset, but when I tried to do that with my husband's 3GS, only one earpiece plays?

It is not supposed to fit, and murray65 is correct - Apple never made a dual dock for the iPhone 3G, and in fact, early this year they discontinued the Apple Bluetooth Headset. You can either just use the travel cable to charge both devices, or you can use a Dremel (or carton knife, etc.) to widen the opening in the dock for the iPhone to accommodate the slightly larger and more rounded iPhone 3GS. See the last few posts in this thread for some links to pics of the process.

ITunes still not syncing correctly with iPhoto 9.4.3

Since upgrading to version 9.4.x, iTunes hasn't been syncing correctly with iPhoto. There were duplicated events/albums, missing photos, photos not appearing in the same order on iOS devices as they do in iPhoto, etc.
With each version upgrade since 9.4, this seems to have been improving bit by bit. I have just upgraded to 9.4.3, and now photos appear in the same order as they do in iPhoto. The only problem left for me, is that there are still photos missing in iTunes. Which photos that are missing seems to be completely random.
I have tried rebuilding the library, which made matters a lot worse. Using 3rd party software like iPhoto library manager to rebuild the library didn't help either (iTunes syncing became a total mess, even more photos were missing afterwards).
I hope by version 9.4.4, iTunes will read all info correctly from iPhoto again, as it did in version 9.3.2. Anyone else still experience problems?

Sorry about that. Well, I've tried deleting the AlbumData.xml file as suggested also, but iPhoto itself generates a new file every time it's opened, so that's really a dead end. Rebuilding the library and through iPhoto Library Manager are the steps that required most work, and both did not work either, unfortunately.
I do believe that I'm not the only experiencing iTunes syncing problem, as there have been many posts here before when 9.4 came out. Like I wrote, it has been better with each upgrade, so there's definitely something in the coding with 9.4.x that messes things up. I had no trouble whatsoever with version 9.3.2 and prior to that.
