Secondary e-mail account problem - Comcast

Hi,
I am using Mac OS X.4 and can't get my secondary e-mail account to send mail to my desktop email (using Mail client). I have set the account up exactly as I did the primary account. However, when I send test mail to my secondary account, it ONLY goes to my Web Mail. Before switching to Comcast, I had AT&T and had this exact same problem. After long hours and many calls to tech support, it was resolved, but I don't know what they did.
So to recap: my test email to my secondary account only goes to my Web Mail, but does not come into my Mail client.
The primary account is working fine. I have had a ticket with Comcast Tech Support for 2 days, but no help from them as yet.
Can someone please help. Thanks in advance.

Create your MobileMe account on your iPhone and turn Contacts and Calendars on for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account settings on your iPhone. If you have a MobileMe account and are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MM account on your iPhone, you don't need to sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Try syncing iTunes content including the music, video, podcasts, and 3rd party apps you want transferred/installed on your iPhone, but don't select anything under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences.
If no problems with this, try selecting the single iPhoto album you want transferred to your iPhone under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences. If the same error message is provided, this narrows it down to transferring photos only which means there is a problem with what is called the iPod Photo Cache, which can be deleted from iPhoto.

  • Secondary e-mail account doesn't work

    I noticed today that my Secondary e-mail account wasn't working. My mobile Me account works. The other account has lost its draft, send, trash icons. When you try to check mail on that account the phone reverts to the home screen. I have synced, restored, deleted the secondary account and created a new one. The messages can be received/sent but not viewed. That account on my mac works great. During the restore process it notifies me that there is a file missing but doesn't say which one.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Mail e-mail account problem

    I have a very annoying problem. (I specify that my preference setting (under "Composing") is "Send new messages from Account of selected mailbox")
    For all the emails that are local ("ON MY MAC") classified in folders when I hit "Reply", the new e-mail is sent from my .mac account and not the e-mail account of the currently selected message.
    Also, if I'm in any local folder and I compose a new e-mail, it is composed by my .mac account.
    Very annoying. In previous OS versions this worked perfectly.
    I noticed that if I right-click on a local 'On My Mac' folder and do a "Get Account Info", the displayed Account is always iCloud. Could this be the reason? Is there an e-mail Account linked to a local folder? (Can't see the reason why because it's local). If this is the case how can I change the Account linked to a folder?
    Any idea that could help me?

    If you sign into your Gmail account on your PC, on your mail page click on the Settings link on the right of the page; this will take you to the Settings page where you can click on the POP and Forwarding link---on the next page you can choose to enable IMAP and/or POP forwarding and save these settings.If you don't enable these features in your account, you will not be able to use the Gmail client on your phone.Hotmail and Gmail may well be available in India, but whether they are accessible via mobile email servers is another matter.You can of course access them by using your phone's browser.As for SE's settings download service, it's no longer operational, as has been recently stated on this forum.

  • Hub E-mail Accounts Problem

    Hi Folks,
    my HUB is weard: I had the first impression that my hb has been frozen, so I restarted and pulled the battery etc. But I ignored the fact that after first configuration, I have to wait a night with active WLAN to let the Z10 sync with the IMAP accounts, so it would be working normaly and not draining the battery.   Now, because I thought one of my e-mail accounts would freeze my HUB, I deleted it and set it up again.  Ok, now I got it twice in the hub, one where I had it configured to show ALL e-mails ever and one only with 90 days. The deleted one which should show ALL emails, just tells me it cannot display the message, the other one runs just fine.    In Settings / accounts, I got only theworking accounts and not this one I had deleted.  Now, how do I get rid of the one I had deleted in the HUB???

    The other option is to wipe the device and start over. If your contacts and calendar are synced to your email it's not a big deal. If you have data that is only contained in a backup then it could be a problem. I would make a full backup before you wipe, though, just in case you want to restore.

  • Mail account problem.

    This mail was sent to apple as feedback but also want others to read it and tell me their experiences:

    I want to suggest you to enable editing/reorder Mail accounts. The problem is that when I created cloud account and added it to mail accounts, after that i added my another outlook account. So, on the top of accounts is iCloud account, then my outlook. Agin after few days I decided to ad my main Gmail account to the list, so the list became by this way:
    1. iCloud
    2. Outlook
    3. Gmail
    by this I did not like it, and as I cannot edit this, I went to delete Outlook account so when I add it again, it will be on the last place. BUT IT DID NOT! It went again to the second place for no reason?! As I can see, all it does is it stays on the same place as I added it first time. I really want to change this so that I have:
    1. iCloud
    2. Gmail
    3. Outlook.
    Anyone else have this problem?

    If you are using Apple's Mail program, post in the OS Mail forum of whichever OS is currently installed on your MBP.  Your problem has nothing to do w/your MBP.  It's an OS and/or email program problem.
    If using a 3rd party email program, please advise which one.  Thank you.

  • Can Siri send from secondary e-mail account?

    I have two e-mail accounts. I haven't been able to figure out how to send an e-mail from my secondary account instead of from my default e-mail account.
    Does anybody know how to do this? Or if it just isn't a feature yet?

    I haven't discovered any new information. I suspect you can't yet change accounts. Hopefully in the future you'll be able to tell Siri to send an e-mail from "my personal account" or something like that.

  • Mail accounts problem

    I have both a iCloud and a gmail account. After upgrading to Yosemite email was working fine till a few days ago. At that point I could not send emails using my gmail account. I decided to delete and then add my gmail account. When deleting it told me that there were other apps that would be affected. I continued thinking that I could relink these apps to my gmail. Now I go to mail and to add account. I then select gmail which opens and I select Google then continue. It has my name already entered so I then enter both my gmail address and password and click setup. The screen reloads almost instantly with both my email address and password empty. I can't get pass that point. Any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks

    Fixed my problem. Restarted the computer and when into email. A screen showed up and showed me my accounts with gmail being offline. I clicked on it and selected mail and alls fine now. I also did the following. This fixed my original problem. Thats to who posted this
    Quit mail
    Open up Finder
    In the Finder menu bar select Go > Go to folder
    type in ~/Library and click Go (on my kb the "~" is next to the left shift key)
    Open the folder Mail
    Open the folder V2
    Open the folder MailData
    Double click to open Accounts.plist (should open in TextEdit)
    Find the block of data that contains the offending mail account
    Find the line within this block that says <key>UserAllowsInsecureAuthentication</key>
    Change the line below this from <false/> to <true/>
    Quit TextEdit
    Restart mail

  • Setting up e-mail account problems.

    Hi, I’ve been trying to set up a second e-mail account on my macbook. The e-mail id is [email protected] I assume I must be doing something wrong as I keep getting the following message;
    There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Webmail” or try again.
    The server returned the error: The connection to the server “imap.cavinderbydesign.com” on port 143 timed out.
    Could you please advise me as to what the error might be? I sent a test message to [email protected] and it was delivered as I checked the account via webmail.

    Well you have already verified that the account works by checking on webmail.
    IMAP usually works on port 443 not 143 so you may want to check it’s trying to connect on the correct port.
    Do you know the IP address of the sever? Use the IP address instead of the name, if you do not know the IP address just ping the name to get the IP address.

  • When i get on yahoo, it opens me up under the primary account, but when i try to get on the secondary e-mail account it automatically shifts me back to the primary account. Dont have this problem in internet explorer.

    Yahoo hosts my e-mail. It is under a primary e-mail address under @yahoo.com. Under that primary account, I have another e-mail address that is based on my own domain name. When I get on firefox and bring up yahoo, it opens under my yahoo.com address but it has a "logged in under" section which allows me to go to my .(my domain) address. When I click on that, my .(my domain) mail comes up for an instant and then firefox shifts me back to the .yahoo account.
    This happens on my newer most recent windows computer but not on my older one and never, ever happens on internet explorer. I may have to abandon firefox for internet explorer if you cannot fix this.

  • Mail account problems

    Hi, I suddenly canot get email on my iPhone or MacBook via iCloud. I have changed my password to something new to try to fix the problem but it still is not working. I also have a .me account. How can I fix my email accounts?

    There are a few of us, it has been out since last night. My ipads cant even talk to the ios upgrade server without some hand tweaked dns addresses.

    Comcast smtp can be setup three ways, when last I checked. If at the venue where Comcast is the ISP, and you use smtp.comcast.net on Port 25, then authentication should be set to None, and no Username or Password enter in Outgoing Server Settings. If away from home you must use an Authenticated SMTP, so use Port 587, with Password Authentication, but not SSL. In this case the name of the SMTP will change to append your username.
    If you want to use SSL, then Port 465 should be used, along with Password authentication, the name will also be changed to include your Username.
    If using a laptop both remote and at home, then you will need to take care as to which one is selected, and the one w/o authentication and using Port 25 will only work at home, while the one with Authentication should work at either.

  • More than one e-mail account

    I currently have a gmail account set-up on my iPhone that pulls in two other e-mail accounts via gmail.
    I want to add a secondary e-mail account which is my work e-mail (probably a MS Exchange account). Is there anyway to do this as I believe that the gmail account is hooked up via MS Exchange and I believe that you can only configure one at any time.
    Therefore can I move my gmail configuration to something else to allow me to access my work e-mail through a MS Exchange configuration? I don't want my work e-mails in the same inbox as my gmail account.

    You're welcome.
    You indicated you created your Gmail account as an Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail application. If so, this provides Push access for received messages and over the air syncing for your Google or Gmail contacts and calendar events.
    Before creating your company Exchange account on your iPhone, you will need to delete your Gmail account on your iPhone that is being accessed as an Exchange account followed by recreating the account as an IMAP account. When using the Gmail account preset when creating a Gmail account with the iPhone's Mail application, the account is created as an IMAP account.

  • Problems with multiple e-mail accounts on Droid 2 & also can't put phone into Silent mode

    I just received my Droid 2 and having a problems with having multiple e-mail accounts.
    My original droid worked fine with all of this.
    I have 2 different personal e-mail accounts setup.
    When I click e-mail, it just defaults to the default e-mail address and I have no way of switching accounts. I have to change the default e-mail account in order to view the other account.
    Along with having a shortcut on the home page to each e-mail account, it always just goes to the default one and no way of adding a shortcut to both.
    When I did this on the original droid, i could choose which e-mail account I wanted a shortcut for and could obviously have both on the home screen.
    I also have found no way to NAME the accounts, ex. Comcast & Work.
    That way I could distinguish the difference between the 2 on my home screen even if I could get a shortcut to both.
    not sure how this could be overlooked but I sure dont think there is a way to make this happen.
    Also, what is with 2.2 System and not allowing you to put it in silent mode?
    I updated my original Droid to 2.2 and could no longer make it silent with the volume button on side or going into the sound settings and changing it to silent, it would always stay on vibrate.
    And now it does the same thing with Droid 2. I cant make it silent at all.
    Any ideas on either issue

    I never had an original Droid, so I can;t compare to what was on that.  For me, I am using the "Messaging" app - it seems to be set up for multiple e-mail accounts better than the email app.  Messaging is the one recommended by the manufacturer - give that a try.

  • Problems with Mail Account

    Since a few days I use Mail for my web.de account.
    I tiped in my password and all the other stuff correctly, after the instructions of the web.de sever.
    Now I liked to check my mails on Apple Mail and it asks me for the password.
    So I tipe in my regular password, but it says the pop server pop3.web.de doesn't accept the password for the account xxx, although it is correct!

    Just chiming in; I don't have a .Mac account, and have been suddenly experiencing odd behavior from Mail.app. Today I had the problem where the app "forgot" all my account passwords and kept throwing up the entry box over and over. Finally had to delete my Keychain files and start over--tried it three times--before things calmed down... and one of my email accounts never did go back to normal.
    Why would this suddenly happen, especially if I've never used .Mac? My incoming mail comes through the server my personal website is hosted on, my outgoing mail goes via Comcast... and I've never had any trouble with Mail.app before today.
    Weeeeird. Coincidence?

  • Problems with mail account being frozen

    I have a problem with my Director's email account in that it beach balls whenever we open it on her computer. This problem seemed to start when we changed broadband suppliers. We had to change the relay address for our accounts to be able to send mail. This we did and ours work fine. My Director's however went into a complete tailspin and won't even let us open preferences so that we can check the address settings. We have paid for an expert to come and have a look for an hour but he seemed completely baffled. Her email is also set up on a colleagues computer from which it works fine. Can anyone please suggest what we should be doing?? We are desperate!
