Secondary pages and native content - region defs must be set?

Hi all,
I have been implementing a site studio website using 10gr4
I have created a region definition, conversion definition, region template, placeholder definition and page template all to create a secondary page. I set the placeholder to be replaceable when i use the page template as a secondary page. I tried displaying native content in the secondary page but nothing would show at all and no errors in the logs. After a long time of trying to figure out why it was not displpaying, i updated the metadata of the word document and set the region template to be the one i used on my site.
Hey presto it displayed ok in the secondary page
I am a little stumped by this as does this mean if any user wants to display a word doc as a secondary page they have to go and set the region template in metadata for all the word docs??? and what if they wanted it to be on several sites what would happen then?! this is not something you neede to do when you made a 10gr3 site.
any ideas on why i needed to do this or if i can avoid it?

I am breaking my head over this.
I am still unable to solve this issue.
========The Requirement is as follows :===========
When I select a Tab Page of a Tab canvas, I get a
combo box with items in it. When I select an item from
the combo box, based on the item selected, I am
retrieveing the data from the database and displaying
it in that Tab Page itself. This data is in a matrix
format. i,e Has a number of rows and columns.
Without a Horizontal and a Vertical Toolbar attached
to the Tab Page I would be unable to view all the records
that are displayed on that Tab Page.
Any suggestions or examples is most welcome and
appreciated.
NOTE : ALso in what situations can we use a stacked
canvas, if the designer does not allow me to
use it with other canvases?.

Get back Shared Workspace Pages and Sample content folder

Hi,
We deleted Shared Workspace pages and Sample content folder in Workspace, due to client's insistence. Now they want it back, as they liked the earlier view better.
Is there a way to get these folders back? Any help will be appreciated.

Did you delete them delete them or simply remove them from the user preferences
To figure that out go to Explore and then select View from your drop down and select "Show hidden"
You should see a folder called "Shared Workspace Pages". If you see it and Inside you have Homepage then you haven't truely nuked it and add it back through preferences.
If you totally nuked it. Then someone else might have the trick for adding it back but if you have a server I would nose around in (for 11.1.1.3 and different depending on which version you are using) to see if you can see the files in question.

Diff between regular portal page and content area page?

Hi.
I have a content area page. Because I thought it would be nice to have "Edit Page" link on the page, I created a new portal page (yes, a portal page vs. a content area page).
I created 2 regions.
Region 1, portlet nav bar portlet from my content area.
Region 2, root folder from my content area
When I use the page, clicking on anything in the nav bar portlet takes me to a new page (my content area page), instead of updating the folder portlet on my new portal page.
Is this by design?
What the difference between a portal page and a content area folder?

Phillip,
The two are indeed subtly different. The experts are on the content area forum but basically a content area page is designed to automatically provide easy navigation within a content area. This includes automatically "doing the right thing" for the navbar portlets.
Note the links on the navbar portlet and their respective targets. They always target the content area page so that the navigation in a content area is seamless (i.e. the middle region updates w/ the current folder).

DW CS4 Spry menu shows up on one page layout, but not in a secondary page

I inserted a spry menu into the homepage. Got it working okay. Then I inserted one into another page layout within the site. Copied and replaced the code with that from the homepage. The secondary page dropdowns aren't dropping down. What am I missing? Help please.

Open your Homepage and SaveAs Secondary page. Edit content as desired. Save again.

How to suppress blank page and selection criteria in SPOOL ?

My Z program submits two programs to spool and converts the ABAP List in the spool to PDF and emails.
After upgrade to ECC6, the first (a report painter report) resulting PDF there was one blank page and the contents were displayed on second page. For the second report (RKPEP003 - CJI3) the selection criteria that the report used was printed as the first page of output and the result on a subsequent page. The same thing happens when I individually execute these two reports directly in SE38 with the same selection criteria. I believe the blank page is there in the spool because when I view the spool as a RAW, there is a P in the first column, however the spool shows that there is only one page in the first and two in the second (this is true - one for selection criteria "which I don't want" and then the actual content). In 46C, when I look at the RAW view of the spool there is no additional P's in the first column.
I do not want to have the blank page on the first report and the selection criteria listed on the output of the report. How can I do that ? I am thinking get_print_parameters can in someway get me there, but I am not sure.

You lost me on your explanation with all that splitting and layers and so on but I think I understood your picture.
Take a look at this.
I've just taken one of the basic layouts that DW offers. 2 Column, centered, fixed with header and footer. I put four <divs> in the footer and with some sketchy maths managed to spread them evenly accross the page.
I think that it's confusing to think of layers especially as that seems to force you to go on and think about AP divs. I don't think you need to think of layers or position: absolute for what you want.
It's better to think about the document flow. You'll get a much more eloquent description on the web but I understand it as the fact that elements on a page render one on top of each other in the order that you place them in the HTML. When you float an element you give it width and allow the next element to occupy the remaining space. When you use position: absolute you do an altogether diferent thing.
Anyway with float, you'r not really "splitting" or layering anything. If anything, I suppose you are shifting or pushing or erm.. floating?
Well, I'm not so good at the technical stuff. I know enough to not get it wrong most of the time!
I hope my test page gives you some ideas at least?

You can't do that. This is what the Pages User Guide, downloadable from your Pages Help menu, says:

Each table of contents (TOC) you create using a Word Processing template lists only the content that follows it, up until the next table of contents. If you want a master table of contents for the entire document, it must be the only table of contents, and it must be at the beginning of the document.
You can do it manually though.

Hello, i need to design a webpage such that
1. Header and footer has some menus and when i click on menu, only main content should change.
For example, if i have a gif image in header, it should not be reloaded everytime when i click on menu or submenu.

Well I followed your book! Chapter 6 of the "Oracle Fusion Developer Guide - Working with Bounded Task Flows in ADF Regions". I think this comes back to book writer error. I found almost no mention of BackingBeanScope in this chapter. Don't you think this would be an important note?

Including the unbounded task flow pages to a template content region

I have a template with a left and content region.All the pages are linked through an unbounded task flow. On clicking on the left menu options I need to include the unbounded task flow views to the content region. Is there any way to accomplish this ?
jsp:include is a way to do this ?. I need to change the pageview onclicking on the left menu .It should work like an iframe in html.That means somehow I need to invoke http://127.0.0.1:7101/RMEWebApps-PlsSuiteWeb-context-root/faces/test through the jsp include or using some other mechanism in the content region
How can I do this ?

This is an integration project. We do have an application already using unbounded task flow.We have some other projects as well using regions and bounded task flows. We need to create a frame work so that we can navigate to different projects from the main project.
What should be the best design approach for integration
1) Import ADF lib jar files of other projects to main project.Create an unbounded task flow linking all unbounded task flows and create a menu out of that which will link to different projects in the main project
2) Convert all unbounded task flows to bounded task flows and link the pages.Import ADF lib jar files of other projects to main project.Create a region in main project and dynamically change the region by refreshing it.

The Process of Creating Pages and Regions within an Application

Hi,
Not sure if possible within Apex 2.2.1 but thought I'd ask whether there are any APIs available by where a page within an application together with a region could be created dynamically?

As is usual with this kind of thing the answer is of course no, and yes. You can't really generate ApEx regions or pages dynamically, since they are stored in the database along with all their items.
However, as you probably know, you can show/hide regions conditionally and you can also create PL/SQL dynamic content regions. These are basically PL/SQL code that generates HTML output and you can do pretty much whatever you have the patience for with that option. Of course, you might end up losing some of the other niceties that ApEx provides - but that's maybe a fair tradeoff for having total control.

I'm having some trouble with Facebook for iPhoto. I recently migrated my buisness profile to a Page, per Facebook's rules, so when I log-in, I only have my Page. I connected the e-mail and password with iPhoto and have been trying to upload pictures. The pictures go to iPhoto, and they pend and then get approved. However, they do no show up on my Page, and when I try to click on the album through iPhoto is just says 'content not available.'
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

I just got the iBooks update and that fixed the problem, except the book covers look like they were done in a government printing office.

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.
