Secret recording of  actions in photoshop elements revealed!

First screenshot shows getting ready to record an action in photoshop elements 8.
The second screenshot shows testing the newly recorded action with the script events manager.

before installing one in photoshop elements. With this script
you can load one action set or ten or more action sets for
testing. Also an action can be set to run more than once in a

  • How to use the "Actions" in Photoshop Elements 11

I am wanting to use the "Actions" in Photoshop Elements 11.  But when I get the actions box up, it is only showing a small list of effects to use.  The tutorials I have checked into all show a very long list of actions. When I click on the little arrow and click on "load actions", I am getting nothing. Everything is blank.  It says "No items match your search."  Please help!

To use the existing actions, try the following:
    1. Open one of the Action Sets, in this example Special Effects is the Action Set, by pressing the small arrow beside the set name.
    2. Then click on the name of the Action, in this example Faded Ink is the Action name.
    3. Then press the Play button to run the action.

  • Trying to upload "actions" to photoshop elements 10 but I am having troubles because things are not on my hard drive that need to be there??

I am trying to upload "actions" to photoshop elements 10 but I am having troubles!  I watched the YouTube tutorial but seem to be missing "Adobe" in my Hard Drive!  Help me I am stuck....

I just loaded my actions using the PSE 10 from the App Store.
    Close PSE.
Access the System library location from Finder menu, click "Go" in the menu bar then select "Go to Folder...". Type in  "~/Library" and click Go.
The systems Library will open up and then you take this path:
Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor > Presets > Actions (The Actions folder is where you move your actions file to)
Then go to the Photo Creations Folder > Locales > en_US and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file (move it to the trash)
The next time you launch PSE your Actions DB will be rebuilt with the new actions installed.

  • Downloading Florabella Actions into Photoshop Elements 12 - Icons not showing up!

I downloaded some Florabella actions into Photoshop Elements 12 and instead of the user friendly, simple icons that are provided, in my Photoshop Elements 12 are these complex, yellow folders that expand and hide themselves.  Why is this? How can I get the user friendly icons back, is this an issue with Photoshop Elements 12 compared to ealier versions? Is there a customer care number I can call, I cannot seem to find a number anywhere! Thank you  in Advance! I have a MAC.

I think you may misunderstand how layers work. Help> Key Concepts, Layers might help. But to give you a simple example, you have to be able to SEE THROUGH the higher layers if you want edits on the lower layers to show.
If you look at the image you can see each image has a different colour painted stripe in the area above the cat. But, even though the bottom layer is the active layer, only the top layer's stripe is showing. This is because I have no transparent areas or masks on the top layer so nothing below the top layer can be visible in this image.
Hope this helps to explain a little of what you may be seeing.

  • Adobe Actions in Photoshop elements

I have recently acquired a program that was originally designed on Adobe Photoshop.
I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements, bot most features are included
One difference is that Photosop Element does not have an 'action button' to load the action script.
However, I have copied these in manually
    Action Taken
    a) Installed graphic program into c:\Program Files\graphic program
    b) Opened the Action Script Folder and copied all the Action Scripts files
    c) c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\presets\Photoshop Actions\
    d) Pasted all the action scripts that I copied from the Action Script Folder
    So Far So Good
Opened Photoshop Elements : They have a file browser button. From here I can browse to :-
    c:\program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\presets\Photoshop Actions\
But I cannot load any templates or activate the program
Can anyone advise on this please
    Brian

    Hi Barbara,
    Thanks for your response
I am using Photoshop Elements 2.0 and the third party program in question is "eCoverGo"
    http://www.ecovers-go.com/
As mentioned it was designed for Adobe Photoshop and required all the files to be placed in the photoshop action folder.
Photoshop Elements does not have an action feature, but I followed their procedure and copied all the files into the Elements/photoshop actions folder OK. But there is no way to load these files into Photoshop Elements.
I have asked how they activate these files in photoshop, and received the following
"copy the shortcut into the relevant directory (depending on which version of Photoshop), then I go to the actions window and select the action.
Select the first step and press the play button, modify the image created, and then run step 2 and step 3.
I can also double click an action in its folder and it will open in Photoshop."
The problem is' Photoshop Elements does not have an 'Actions Window' and the second is, after double clicking on an action in it's folder, Photoshop opens and I'm back to square one!!"
I realise that I may be whistling in the Wind, and no way take the program developer to task, because it has been designed for Adobe Photoshop and not Photshop Elements.
And it defeats the whole exercise by purchasing Adobe Photoshop for the sake of getting a low budget program to work, when Photoshop Elements suit my requirements at the moment
Once again, thanks for your interest Barbara, but don't drive
yourself crazy. If it wont work in Elementsthen it wont work!
    Best regards
    Brian

  • Is there a way to create actions in Photoshop Elements 7

Is there a way to create actions in (or for, other than Photoshop, CS3, 4, 5) Photoshop Elements 7?

You can certainly create actions for Elements (just make sure you don't include steps, like a history snapshot, that PSE can't do), but you can't create them IN elements, only in photoshop.

  • Using actions in Photoshop Elements from App store.

I have Photoshop Elements 10 that I downloaded from the app store - can I use actions in it? Having trouble installing them on my mac and was wonding if it was something I was doing wrong or if it wasn't even possible. Thanks!

Well, first of all, the only time I would consider buying the app store version is if you have a lot of macs you need to install it on. Otherwise, I would buy the regular retail version. While you can use your apple ID to qualify for upgrade pricing where it asks for a serial number, it's smarter just to shop around for the full version, which is usually much cheaper than adobe's upgrade price if you look around at online retailers and big box stores.
EDIT One other problem with the app store version is that you can no longer reinstall it once a new version is out in the app store. Adobe does make downloads of older versions available, but they all require a standard serial number, so the app store info won't work.

  • Actions in Photoshop Elements 10?

I'm trying to figure out how to use actions, it looks like it's a great way to edit photos. I'm watching youtube videos and they all say "go to window" and "actions" bar. I did that and when I went to window there was no actions bar? Is that something that isn't included in elements 10? or is there somewhere else to find it?
    thanks.
    Nikki

That's only in Photoshop. PSE has a limited kind of actions player in guided edit, or you can install actions in the effects panel.
Texas Chicks has very complete instructions for installing actions:
    http://www.texaschicksblogsandpics.com/photography-page/installing-actions-in-photoshop-el ements/
However, there are some differences between using actions in PSE and in PS. The action should only include steps that PSE understands (no history snapshot, for instance) and you can only run an action on one image at a time in PSE, not on a folder the way you can in PS.

  • Actions in Photoshop Elements 8

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out if you can use any Photoshop action in Elements 8.  If not, how can you tell which actions work in Elements and which don't (short of downloading and them and testing)?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, you can use some actions. Whether a given action will work or not depends on whether or not it includes steps PSE can't understand. There are actions made specially for elements. Otherwise, you'd have to try to see, or ask whoever wrote the action if they know.

  • Loading actions on photoshop elements 9

I am looking to load some "actions" on my photoshop elements....I was told to go to my hard drive, then library, then application support, then adobe, then elemnts....when I get to the adobe step, the only next 2 options are "help" and "help Cfg"
It looks like there are two "system libraries' on mac...how do I find both, and when I do which one will I chose??? Where I have purchased the actions told me to make sure I am chosing the correct system library...Please help! I am so confused because I am still getting to know my mac!  I have the new software for my computer (It is only about 5 months old!) I purchased my elements in the app store through mac....does that make a difference?
here is a video from the site explaining how to get the "actions" only PSE9
    http://vimeo.com/27747097
    Thanks in advance!!!
    amy

The app store requires that all apps be self-contained, and so PSE 9 for the app store is. They aren't allowed to strew files hither and yon like normal programs do. Everything is there, it's just inside the program package itself.
If you right click the app itself and choose Show package contents>contents, you will find the stuff that is normally in library>application support in a folder called Application Data:
and you would theoretically install new stuff in there. BUT you have the insuperable problem with mediaDatabase.db3 that I mentioned in my post above. PSE doesn't recognize that you have deleted it. (It works in PSE 10/app store, not that that's any help.)

  • Trouble loading actions onto photoshop elements 10?

I recently got rid of a laptop on which I had grown accustomed to PSE 7. I learned how to install actions via the following method:
    Download .atn file
    move to Photo Effects folder
create a .png thumbnail with a matching name
    allow them to load!
    this worked perfectly
now i have pSE 10 so I looked up the procedure for adding actions onto this version and it appears to be the same exact process. however, i have added a .atn file (seps.atn) and a matching thumbnail (seps.png) and neither the thumbnail nor the action show up in the PSE program. (yes, I have 'show all' selected.)
and this is in the photo effects folder.
I don't understand how I'm doing something wrong but somehow I am. please help me?

Erin over at Texas Chicks has the most comprehensive list of installation instructions. Scroll down to the PSE 10 section and click on your operating system:

  • Get the secret brushes palette in photoshop elements 2.

In photoshop elements 2 you can have the same brushes palette as in photoshop 7.
It functions exactly the same with one exception, the brush preview area.
To see the brush preview you need to use the tool options bar.
It also works with all the other paint tools. To get the full brushes palette in photoshop
elements 2, just make an action in photoshop (7-cs4) toggle brushes palette.
Run this action in photoshop elements 2 and volia a real brushes palette.
This probably only works in photoshop elements 2.

Have you already ran the workarounds/solutions mentioned in the link below? try the LicenseRecovery toolkit and see if that helps?
