Secret settings?

Hello forum!
This may be a very simple question and hopefully it is. I have Flash Professional CS5 and Captivate 5. What settings should I use in Flash Pro to allow my swf files in Captivate to pause/unpause correctly when I "Synchronize with project" in Captivate?
I have 5 SWF files, each have ~4 professional voice over mp3 audio files with animation, etc. none of them are synchronizing correctly.

It could be that your hotspot has not been enabled by comcast yet, and you are seeing a neighbors hotspot. Either way, if the hotspot is enabled and the "manage hotspot" feature isn't working, you can always call in and get them to disable it.

Can't change Airport Extreme settings using WPA2 Enterprise

I have a 4th Gen Airport Extreme Base Station that is running 7.6.1 firmware and I've updated the Airport Utility to 6.0 and OS X Server to 10.7.3
I use WPA2 Enterprise using the Radius Server set up from the Server admin tools in Lion Server. I am using my CA signed certificate for the server as my server-side cert. I can connect fine to the wireless network with all my idevices and my MacBook Pro, but whenever I use Airport Utility to amend settings of the Base Station e.g. Back to my Mac, I cannot make updates.
Whenever I click 'Update' I get the following error - 'Invalid value' The value for "Password" is invalid. When I click Review Settings, it takes me to the Shared Secret settings for the connection, but as far as I'm concerned this never needs to be known or changed.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem.. Airport utility 6.0 on 4th gen airport extreme and server 10.7.4.
DNS, Radius and Open Directory.
Any update on Airport Util results in "'Invalid value' The value for "Password" is invalid"
Only work around I've found like above is to set network mode to "off" under wireless tab. Update Airport Utility ... then remove/add my base station in Server admin under 'radius' 'base stations' ..
Really very annoying because what I actually want to change is the WPA/WPA2 to WPA2 ONLY.
By default when the base station is added in 'server admin' it sets it as WPA/WPA2 and there is no option to change or control this in 'server admin'... so basically I can not change this option.
I thought maybe that 'invalid' characters (for the airport) where being used by server admin when it generates the 'shared secret' .. so have tried changing to a very simple shared secret in 'airport utility' ... but I still get the same error - "The value for "Password" is invalid"
I will try downgrading to 5.6 but this really is very annoying especially as its a fault that has been allowed to rollover into 10.7.4 !!!!

Best HDV to DVD settings

I have a feature length film shot with a Sony FX-1.
The footage is all HDV 1080i.
I used PP for editing and using Encore for DVD authoring.
All my attempts so far result in absurdly bad looking video when previewed in Encore on the computer, or burned to dvd and watched on TV.
The main problem is when there is movement in the video its very jerky.
The interrum video files exported out of PP look fine by the way.
I'm pretty sure the problem is I need to export out of Premiere with some kind of special top secret settings to get it to look ok in DVD format.
Anyone privy to these settings?
Quality is my main concern, file size is not a concern.

I solved the problem.
The issue was that the Encore Preview always plays the video with the jerky artifact. When the disk is built the problem does not exist.
So turns out the regular MPEG2-DVD export setting is fine.
There is one minor problem however. When you watch the video closely on the TV, it seems to be slightly out of focus or blurry for 2 seconds, then in focus for 1 second. Every 3 seconds or so this repeats. Its not hugely noticable. If you focus on part of the image that is not changing such as trees in the background its most noticable.
Any ideas?

How do I turn off the automatic date-reading function when adding a new reminder in Reminders?

While using Reminders in Mavericks or in Mountain Lion, if I type something like, "Finish the details of version 6.19 for publication", the Reminders app REMOVES 6.19, and adds a remind-on-date for 6/19.
I do not want my words to be naturally interpreted as an alert.
I never want text I have typed to be removed from my reminder text.
Any advice, any secret settings somewhere?

I have this problem as well. I use reminders to make a siple prioritized list of the homework I am working on. I put in "Read section 4A" and it converts this to "Read section" at 3AM. This is very annoying, and I can't seem to turn it off!

Unable to start Agentry Administration Client

Hi Im unable to start Agentry Server. Error is: (0*00002733) A non-blocking socket operation could not be completed immediately.
Please help me in resolving this. Below is the screen shot for reference.

The Agentry server produces this ServerPipes.lst to broadcast the necessary connection (hostname and port + plus some secret settings) to any admin services (this includes the Agentry Admin tool and the AgentryGUI).
By design when you:
Stop the AgentryServer the ServerPipes.lst also gets deleted (Sometimes a tool or application is reading the ServerPipes.lst and this may be the reason why it was not deleted on stopping the AgentryServer).
Start the server the ServerPipes.lst gets created.On restart or recreation of the ServerPipes.lst the contents of it may be different than before. In particular the Command and Status addresses will most likely have different ports and the secret should be different.
The user can leave the specific port values in the Agentry.ini if the designer has a requirement to lock the admin client down to a specific port (e.g if you have a firewall). If the designer just wants to restrict the Agentry to a specific interface or host name, the designer can leave the host name in the commandPipePort/statusPipePort settings and use 0 for the port number to allocate the port dynamically
The ServerPipes.lst should be readable (if the customer makes this file unreadable or the directory where it lies unreachable, any of the AgentryGui or AdminGui tools will not be able to connect to the Agentry server. Sometimes administrator tries to limit access to certain files and directories. Let it be known if this file or the directory gets lock by file sharing access then any admin services that will try to connect to the Agentry server will be unsuccessful.

Page scrolling when editing in Powerpoint

I have Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 and use Powerpoint a lot. When hovering the cursor over the main page the magic mouse scroll function does not operate. When hovering over the thumbnail window it scrolls through the thumbnail views. All fine. However, as soon as I start to edit a text box in a page, the magic mouse scroll function becomes active and the page I am working on can suddenly change, perhaps due to just minor accidental finger movements on the surface of the mouse or perhaps static interaction. This makes it almost impossible to edit existing presentations because as I move the cursor to the point in the text I want to edit the page suddenly changes to another one in the presentation. How can I stop this happening?

You might want to consider using the mouse "wheel" for scrolling the page instead of the scroll bar. Saves a lot of horizontal hand movement.
Note that if you happen to be holding the Ctrl key when you roll the wheel, the page display will zoom. You can use Ctrl+0 (that's zero) to reset it if that happens.

Hosed (again) by Firefox 8

When I got upgraded to Firefox 8 all my tabs were gone. When I go to the options I can no longer set "Show my windows and tabs from last time" because it is grayed out. I then installed Firefox 7.01 and still have the same problem.
Can someone please tell me the hyper secret code (again) to fix this problem. What is the magic string you type in the browser to get at the secret settings.

switched to Chrome problem gone. Since this has been an ongoing issue since 2010 with no solution I guess switching browser is the only thing to do.
As you can see from my screenshot, MULTIPLE entries of resource hogging plug in containers all needing to be force quit.
I have used FF for years but recently while speaking to customers on phone my browser would lock up because of this and therefore its a no-brainer what needs to be done in a work enviroment... switch to more stable browser. Hope you sort it out FF but till then bon voyage!

Scroll bar options in Ubuntu -- need arrow scrolling not block scrolling -- how??

How do I modify the firefox scroll bar -- need the arrows at top and bottom. The block scrolling doesn't work well for certain sites.

"Unsupported Color Space" error trying to open b/w PDF in PS

This glitch has occured periodically in every version of PS I've ever used. I'm sick of getting it. Let me emphasize" I'm working with a b/w all-text image scanned into a PDF using the "text" setting on my scanner. In past attempts with Adobe tech support to get this fixed, it ends up having something to do with a glitch in PS programming, which gets fixed after an hour and a half of being treated like an airhead by the support tech and finally going into the secret settings area of PS and fixing it.

I did some tests on that image (Color Space: Indexed Device Gray) in Acrobat Pro.
If you want to open it in PhotoShop you could convert the whole PDF to RGB.
There is a Single Fix Up in the Preflight section of Acrobat Pro for this.

After using that fix up and saving the PDF to a new name, the TouchUp Object tool can use PhotoShop to open the image as an Indexed 8Bit Channel image in PhotoShop.
You can now convert to Grayscale in PhotoShop if you want…

WET200 and DHCP

Hi there,
I noticed a few discussion about Cisco Wireless bridges not being able to pass DHCP requests from clients.
In my case I have a WET200 successfully associated with a Deliberant DLB2700 access point. When client computers are configured with static IP addresses they can browse the network, connect to e-mail etc. Problem starts when a computer will try to obtain the IP address via DHCP while connected to the wireless bridge. It simply doesn't work.
Is there a newer firmware or a secret settings which will allow me to make it working? I have a quite few of these WET200 units ...

But my thoughts are at this stage, sure look like there is a question hanging over the deliberant model number you mentioned, at least that what the deliberant forum might be suggesting.
2. But does a WET200 in place of the deliberant result in DHCP requests being dropped?
(Since you have multiple WET200, it would be interesting to peruse this approach for diagnostic reasons and to confirm this in your mind.)
But, if you can't do step 2 above, and are adventurous, maybe you can capture the DHCP server interaction.
I'm guessing your network may look like the following, excuse the rough network diagram;
PC---WET200~~~~~~~~~deliberant-------managed switch------------router
                                                                  |                |         |
                                                               HUB              |        |------DHCP Server
                                                                           mirror port
Beg borrow or steal a 'HUB' and they are hard to find these days, NOT a switch.
Or as an alternative, if connected to a managed switch, mirror the Ethernet switch port that leads to the deliberant AP to a PC running ethereal.
Using ethereal or similar application, just checkout the state of ARP and DHCP packets that egress in and out of the switch port that is connected to the deliberant AP. (I'm guess ARP is working otherwise you would not be getting anywhere from behind the WET200.)
But if you wish to post a ethereal trace, it would be fun to quickly check it out.
If you do this please don't capture megabytes, try to capture just a bit before and after a DHCP request.
The other option is to just keep doing what you are doing and statically define IP addresses.

I need to see if I have this correct. I shoot with the camera set in 1080i HD. I edit in Premiere with the setting for 1080i HD but when I export to AVI to be used in Encore I should make sure the field is UPPER since it is HD even though Encore will be told to burn as a regular (non-Blu Ray) DVD. Correct?
If I set the cameras on DV wide screen (non-HD)then bring it into Premiere as a DV project wide screen, I should export it as an AVI with lower field first before using it in Encore. Correct?
Because I am getting the same artifacts in the final burn. Lines during movement. Red pixelation on some transitions, or when a flash gun fires.

Anybody know the secret settings needed to get the iPhone to connect to yahoo e-mail? I got the wi-fi talking to my router so thats cool, i got my ports set (SSL incoming 995, outgoing 465 as required by att yahoo) logins, servernames, but it keeps saying it can't connect and get my mail. So whats the trick?
BTW I've been a computer network administrator for 14 years, don't call me a newbie.

Incoming port would normally be 993, not 995. But just turning on SSL will change that though. I discovered when I first set up the phone, that if I turned SSL on, AND explicitly set the port to :993, it did not work. Only was able to get it to work by flipping the SSL switch and not setting the port. I was able to verify on my mail server, the phone was actually using 993 as it should. For SSL on SMTP (outgoing) though, I did have to turn on the SSL switch and explicitly set the port to 465 (probably because there are more SMTP standard configs).
This was all on iPhone 1.0.0 though and may have changed through the updates, but I have not had to mess with settings through either update. Continues to work flawlessly.
(I am running my own Linux mail server, in a data center, using self-signed SSL keys. Works nearly everywhere, except at my office where our brain free admins do not allow outbound to 993 or 465. Odd because the DO allow outbound IMAP (143) and SMTP (25) to anywhere. I'll never understand. They know about IMAP and SMTP, but never have heard of SSL on different standard ports <sigh>

TPT2 with BT keyboard & BT mouse

Anyone found good working combination?
I tried Lenovo keyboard stand + MS Sculpt Touch Mouse.
Result was both became unusable.
Mouse jerky to the level making hard to point accurately at anything on the screen,
keyboard eating letters or reppppeatttting randomly.
MS mouse went back to store and keyboard alone working fine with my old Logitech M195 (2.4 GHz with nano USB receiver).
Still, would like to have BT mouse to avoid using USB port - any tips / secret settings?

I just got my Tablet 2. Out of the box the initial startup asked for bluetooth keyboard pairing. I was able to immediately pair it to my Microsoft Bluetooth Wedge Keyboard. Once it got loaded, I used the settings to pair my Microsoft Bluetooth Wedge Mouse. Both have been working now flawlessly for an hour. This was before I performed any system updates or windows updates.

Dashboard Ripple Effect!

When i launch Dashboard via an Active Screen Corner and drag the desired widget onto the screen an irritating ripple effect appears around the widget. Does anybody know how to remove this effect? i know that by double clicking after having added a widget one can stop the effect, but i would like to remove it permanently. i try to keep my dashboard screen clear and only add a widget if i need to use one.

That's how it shows that a new widget was placed in the Dashboard, which is what you are doing every time you close the widget and replace it onto the Dashboard.
I'm not sure the exact preference to set via Terminal, but you could download [Secrets|http://code.google.com/p/blacktree-secrets> and set it to not ripple with that. Secrets is a preference pane that allows you to change many 'secret' settings. I don't know for sure, but OnyX or TinkerTool may be able to adjust that setting, also.
