Section on screen stopped responding!!!

So I have an original iPhone and just recently an area of the screen, approximately from the vol down button straight acroos the screen, stop responding. The screen is good everything looks fine but whenever I want to tap something on that area it won't respond to my finger taps. It's just a single line area on the screen that isn't responding not the entire screen. Any ideas on what is going on?

My son just had this problem. We held down the sleep button and home button at the same time until it finally shut down. Then we waited a few minutes before turning the phone back on. the apple came on the screen and loaded for several minutes, but it did come back to the menu screen and he was able to use the phone again. I hope this works for you.

Have you tried to give it a reboot? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. WHen you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • X1 Carbon Touch Gen2 (20A7005UMN) - touch screen stopped responding

    Hi,
I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch, new as of april 2014, and since last week, the touch screen has stopped responding to touch inputs. Before this it has been working and behaving perfectly.
I have tried to turn the laptop entirely off and on, reboots... No effect. The screen simply acts like it never was touch.
The HID driver is present and claims to be working. I tried to reinstall it and it does so with no errors or warnings. I also tried to reinstall the monitor and graphics card drivers. The Tablet control panel icon offers a calibrate option but Reset is disabled. The calibrate doesn't help because it doesn't respond to touch.
System says it has touch with 10 finger inputs.
Windows 8.1 Update 1, Enterprise SKU
    Any advice is welcome.
UPDATE! Touch works when I lay the screen out flat. But if I return it to any angle, it stops working. Is this related to LayFlat mode or is there a connection fault in the display for touch input so only when I lay it flat it has contact?
    Software or hardware?

I have kept checking on statements from Lenovo about the Thinkpad X1 Carbon for 7 months now, and I have not seen any indication of plans to change the keyboard. I have heard numerous complaints first hand about the keyboard, and the tens of reviews that I have read from around the world the last half year, there is doubt to outright irritation about the 2014 X1 Carbons keyboard and touchpad (the further specs of the 2014 X1 Carbon are of Rolls Royce impression, but because of the ruined keyboard and erroneous touchpad, we have decided not to consider the X1 Carbon further.
    Observations:
Professionals want a large number of direct, true and tactile keys in traditional locations for efficient work. Lenovo has moved away from this fact by taking away keys, creating a touch strip while there is a touch screen already on it, and by changing the position of essential keys or removing them completely to be replaced by non-intuitive key combinations. The Red Dot award was truely earned for the weight and looks of the screen and case, but the keyboard is the weak link that makes the chain weak. Lenovo, Lenovo, Lenovo, what have you done?

  • My ipod touch 3 rd generation touch screen stop responding

I have a 3rd generation ipod touch. Suddenly after falling, the touch screen stop working. There is no damage to the screen nor the back or any part of the ipod but it never worked again as touch sensiivity. I reset the system, did the push to reset and when get the red slide bar to shut down its not responding because the screen does not work when touched.

When restoring to factory settings/new iPod fails to resolve a problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iphone 3gs' screen stopped responding to touch in a crucial places on my phone, about how much would it cost to replace it at the apple store?

My iPhone has fallen out of my pocket a million times and always been fine, no cracks just a few scraches on the back. This morning, it fell out and I assumed the usual had happened. However, I went to type on the open message and the screen wasn't responding on parts of the keyboard. So, I thought maybe it was just a small issue; I turned my phone off then back on. When it turned back on I couldn't even unlock it because the screen wasn't responding and the first number of my passcode was in an unresponsive spot. An elder friend of mine told me all I needed was to replace the screen and that he could do it, if I bought the screen. My question is, would it be cheaper to buy the screen and have my friend do it, or would Apple give me a better deal?
Note: I've had it for a year and four months. I do not know ANYTHING about the warrantty and such because my aunt takes care of it for me because I'm only seventeen.

Out of warranty replacement is $149

  • X1 Carbon Touch Screen stops responding after sleep

    Hi,
My X1 Screen does not come back after sleep for several minutes. I've encountered this problem the very fist day I've received it, a reboot solved the problem but after few days it happened again, this time it took 2-3 hours for it to come back after several reboots. After a week it was gone for good, Service replaced the motherboard and just received my X1 back yesterday. Today it happened again. A reboot solved the problem but symptoms are same. Comp goes to sleep, when I try wake it up, X1 works but diplay is totaly gone. I can hear the sounds, see the fingerprint sensor etc is alive but can not wake up the display..
Model is 208A and Win 8.1
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

Hey...got your back on this one! I returned a T440s because of this.....tech support had no idea...same problem for the replacement they sent to me, and again they it's a motherboard issue. Nope....trial and error...found the solution. Download and upgrade your fingerprint pro software and it's fixed. Here is the link. Please post if it worked for you too!

  • My Apple iPad air screen stops responding, particularly in safari

My brand new IPad Air (64Gb) is roving to be less than satisfactory- I have had to hard reset it several times due to non response, usually in Safari. Additionally, I have had to close applications mid use for the same reasons. All indications are it is "alive" and refreshing / processing but it is unresponsive.

    1. Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo

  • TS1702 the screen of my iPad mini stopped responding, frozen

My iPad mini screen stopped responding, i mean frozen.

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Toshiba AT300se stops responding when heated

    Hi all,
I have created another topic about my tablet acting on its own but now I found out that it happens when it is heated. This happens rather easily I would say, after 10 minutes of playing a game or so.
When it is heated the screen stops responding, no input. If I put in a freezer for eg 1 minute then it works perfectly, until again it gets heated.
Any ideas on what I should do? It seems like a hardware problem. Right?
Should I try a case with fans? Or the dangerous solution of putting it to the freezer for many hours if possible to reverse the hardware problem (long shot but the manual says on power off it can withstand -20C )
Any ideas on how to adjust any temperature heating protection it may have?
Finally, as there is no lock switch to open the case, do I just pull the cover from the speakers?
    Thank you for reading

  • N8 stuck on ringtone, screen not responding

The N8 is giving me a real hard time right now! While I was getting a phone call, the screen stopped responding and since then it's replaying the ringtone over and over. Is there any way to stop this nightmare, other than taking the battery out? Which is, by the way, a big pain too, since I don't have the proper screwdriver at hand. Extremely frustrated, to put it mild.

The power off tips mentioned is not a hard reset. It is what aspergerguy mentioned above. There's actually no need to count seconds as you will feel the phone buzz 3 times really quick. After those buzzes, let go of the power button before you push the power button again, but this time to start the phone.
The hard reset is done by a button combo which wipes the phone memory. And it has to be done when the phone is powered off. Did you do that btw?

  • Dock & Menu-bar stop responding to mouse move

    Hello!
I've been having a strange problem for quite some time now. After some time of working on my mac the dock and all the menus (including the menu bar on the top of the screen) stop responding to mouse move. At the same moment also my "hot-corners" stop working. For example when I move my mouse over the dock the magnification does not happen and when I run my mouse over the menus they don't highlight. When I move the mouse to a hot corner which was attached to Expose or ScreenSaver start nothing happens there either. Whole system acts really unpredictable.
I tried killing Finder, changing resolution when this happened,... Nothing helps but a reboot, but rebooting machine so frequently is driving me a bit nuts.
    Please, help!
Other details: OSX 10.5.6 (this has been happening from the start - through all versions), MacbookPro
    Thanks in advance.
    Y.

Ran Disk Utility off the DVD and repaired permissions and repaired the disk. Problems were found in both although, they appeared minimal. Despite that, the same issues where present when I woke it up from Sleep mode in the morning.
Whenever I hovered my mouse over the menu bar, the cursor would turn into the spinning beachball. The dock didn't freeze as it had done every time before, but if I clicked on an application it would become highlighted and stay that way without it actually opening. The opening animation never took place either.
Until some fix comes out, my next step will be checking to see what software I last updated before the problem started a few days ago and seeing if I can roll back.

hey i have an ipod touch 5gen ,it has stopped responding and is showing a blank black screen.when ever i connect it to itunes it gives a sound of the connection. what am i suppose to do?(ios7)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4623 one section of my i phone 4 screen not responding

the bottom right hand corner ofmy iphone screen stopped working for some reason. the rest works. please help

    Hey renaldoxlouw,
Sorry to hear that the corner of your phone's screen isn't responding. I found an article that goes over troubleshooting in case portions of a Multi-Touch display do not respond:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
The relevant troubleshooting steps are below:
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
    Hope that helps,
    David
