Secure Easy Setup Help WRT54GS

Hi,
Was wondering what it means when the Secure Easy Setup button on the router remains white.. It usually goes to yellow after the flashing, but this time it remains white...
Everything seems to be fine on the wireless network, it's just not going back to yellow for some reason...
I've tried pressing it again, but there is no change.....
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

That means the SES feature of your router is active. Your router wireless settings are randomly generated by the router and not personalized. For example, your wireless network name (SSID) might be linksys_SES_187498 ......

Can someone explain why the Secure Easy Setup light on a WRT54G would change from a steady green to steady orange after firmware upgrade? Everything is connecting properly, and I see no change in performance of network other than light change described. Thanks.

The way I understand the Secure Easy Setup button is this.
It will be orange when the router is in normal operation mode. The light turns green when you press the Cisco Systems button (that is orange normally) so that the router will search for the web device you are trying to connect to the router. If you want to disable this feature all together go into your router settings page at 192.168.1.1
Go to the Wireless tab, and then the Advanced Wireless Settings sub-heading, once in there look for the option SecureEasysetup and simply set it to disable (enabled is default) then click the save now and apply the settings. The light should be out now meaning you don't have the Secure Setup feature enabled.
It is just a personal choice to have it on or off, it should not affect router or internet performance unless you hit the button trying to connect a device to the network.

Added a scanner with Secure Easy Setup and my wireless network has disappeared?

I just replaced my fax/scanner. I have a secured wireless home network. I installed the fax/scanner with Secure Easy Setup. The fax works - but my home network as disappeared!!! Where did it go? Do I have to start over and reinstall my whole wireless network? It took me forever to get it working the first time! HELP!!!

when u run easilink again it will give you the chance to change some settings wirelessly, it could be that you have changed some settings and missed that part...
you could check that by accessing the set up page of the router 192.168.1.1

Secure-Easy-Setup Error?

What happened was that when to go powercycle my router, I accidently pressed the Secure-Easy-Setup button. 3 seconds after I had un-pluged the router, I realized that I had had my hand on the button and was pressing it. I quickly let go and pluged my router back in. It still runs, but now I can't acess the internet on any of my computers. My iPod shows that a new network is present, but I strongly believe that it is my network, but reconfigured and renamed.
What do I do to fix this?

Press and hold the reset button in back for 30 seconds and release. Wait 30 seconds and power cycle the router. Connect via a wired computer to 192.168.1.1 username blank, password 'admin'. Reconfigure your router back.

INGESTED DVCPRO HD FOOTAGE IN WRONG "EASY SETUP" - HELP!

OK, this falls under the heading: Just plain stupid. Nevertheless, now I am looking for a fix. I'm new to HD. I shot a short film with a Panasonic HVX-200. I was not going to have to do the post-production and would periodically load the footage into FCP as it was shot just to see how it looked. Then it turned out, I was asked to edit it under a tight deadline. However, when I ingested the footage into FCP I never changed the easy setup. The editing is now done and I wish to output to Digi Beta. But I now see the sequence settings are set for CCIR 601 NTSC! Is there a way to "undo" this and put in the proper setting? Or is the only way to re-ingest and re-edit? This is embarassing. But, hey, we all have to learn. Maybe publishing my error will save someone else down the road! Thanks for any help.

That's very interesting to learn that 601 NTSC is the proper setting for Digibeta. I didn't know that. Here are the exact current sequence settings:
Frame Size: 720 x 486. Aspect Ratio: CCIR 601 (40:27)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV 720 x 480
Field Dominance: Lower (Even)
Editing Timebase 29.97
QuickTime Video Settings:
Compressor: Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2

I shot in DVCPRO HD 720p60
Gosh, I'm trying to remember if I had to render the footage as I dropped it into the timeline. I didn't think so. But now I can't swear to it.
I guess I have (at least) 2 questions: (1) Is there a way to "revert" to the HD format for this sequence now that it's edited? (2) Do I even want to do that if I want to output to digibeta print? What's the best thing to do to obtain a maximum quality digibeta print?
By the way, I just heard this week that the film was accepted into a film festival, so I'm under a dead line to deliver a print, preferrably in digibeta or beta sp format.

Easy Setup help

Hi there. I'm trying to capture old Hi8 movies into FCE and am having some trouble. I'm using a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV130 NTSC connected via Firewire. The device is daisy-chained through an external hard drive.
I'm not sure which Easy Setup preset will work best. When I use any setting with the Device Control Preset set to Firewire NTSC, Final Cut Express starts looking for timecode breaks on my tape and fails to capture each clip in its entirety (leaving off about 4-5 seconds from each).
However, when I use a setting with no Device Control Preset, my audio and video are captured out of sync.
I've tried capturing my footage via iMovie '09 and importing an XML file into FCE, but the quality doesn't look good, and the audio rendering time takes hours.

Thank you for replying. I hadn't thought of the audio being an issue, but I bet you're right. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to change the setting on my camera.
I'm planning on investing in an HD camcorder sometime soon, but until then, I guess I'll probably keep capturing using iMovie HD. Technology marches on....

Settings in easy setup, help me!

Hi, I have a Canon XL H1A shooting 25 frames at 1080i HDV. It's also a PAL camcorder. Whats the best setting in the easy setup of FCE4 to use, i want to retain the highest quality.

Sorry ..... I missed out the Apple Intermediate Codec bit, but you are using the correct one.
Yes, you do get a different capture window with HDV.
If you haven't already seen it this is what the manual says:-
To capture HDV footage to the Apple Intermediate Codec:
1 Click in the Browser to make it active, then choose File > New Bin.
2 Name the bin, then press Enter.
3 Choose File > Capture (or press Command-8).
A Capture dialog appears instead of the Capture window.
4 In the Capture dialog, enter a name for the clip, then click Capture.
The capture preview window appears and the camcorder begins playing back video
from its current position. The status area of the capture preview window displays the
percentage of real time in which the video is being encoded from HDV to the
Apple Intermediate Codec.
5 Press the Esc (Escape) key to stop capturing.
The video playback on the camcorder stops immediately. The capture preview window
may lag behind, displaying where the video is in the encoding process. As these frames
are processed, the status area of the capture preview window displays the percentage
of frames left to process.
Note: Pressing the Esc key a second time stops the encoding process and cancels
the capture.

Wrt54gs & secure easy setup.

For some time I had problems getting my router to see my WUSB54GS but after a couple of months laying in the wardrobe I decided to dust it down and try again.
reluctantly after a few hours it gave up and let me connect my two PCs together. HAPPY DAYS. The Internet was a bit slow on the second PC but it was working. this PC could see and view the shared folders on the other but alas it couldnt see this one.
I persisted until this morning when suddenly the 2nd PC could not connect. I tried everything but it could see 3 or 4 other networks but not it's own.
I eventually traced it down to the fact that the SSID was changed and the encryption method and key. How did it change overnight with both PCs off?
I ended up running the installation software again but when it asked for easy secure to be pressed then the lights all flashed, the yellow LED went out and now refuses to come on again! the USB device says that the easy secure is not available.
What have I done? I'm used to working on PCs but networking is relatively new to me. Switching firewalls off only reduced the internet to an absolute crawl and they still couldnt see each other. all I wanted was a wifi connection to allow me to transfer files between PCs and maybe even run a LAN to game with but it's getting so difficult that I'm once again thinking of the wardrobe again or better still eBay.

Secure easy setup button on wrt54g v8

where can I find an explanation of what this button does and how it can help me print wirelessly to my HL-2070N brother printer.
What appears to happen when I press button is it flashes for a little while not long and then stops and remains lit.
What does that mean and what is it doing? I still cannot print to my 2070N

Okay Linksys understands there are dolt like me out here who can't figure out how to configure so this magic button is suppose to press at same time as something at http://192.168.1.1 except when I try to go to link I get The connection has timed out The server at 192.168.1.1 is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. I try to open Final Cut Express it asks to choose an Easy Setup. Help!

After recently insatlling Final Cut Version 2.0.2, I tryed to open the application
but it asked to choose an Easy Setup and re-install. I already deleted the

to allow final cut express hd (3.01) to run as "any user" (in our case we are having users login with AD integration) and NOT have the issue of "At least 1 easy setup file..."
do the following:
login as admin
make "system" owner the folder (and all contained):
/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Express Support/Custom Settings
resolves the issue. it appears when FCE HD is installed as admin and run for the first time, the Custom Settings folder is created with the Easy Setup file installed - BUT it is owned by "admin". when anyone (other than admin - or an admin) logs in, they cannot access that folder and therefor cannot get to the easy setup file.
i tested this and it works. for any OS X users with a lab, FCE HD out there, this is the fix. hope it keeps a few people from pulling their hair out like me.

To what codec, frame size & frame rate did you convert the files in Streamclip?
If it isn't AIC 720p30, you'll need to render.

Linksys WRT54g + WAP54g setup help

yes i know im using older hardware but its what i have available lol. Hoping some one can help me out. its been bugging me like hell.
been playing with it for a few days and i cant figure it out
its driving me mad lol hope someone can help.
heres the setup.
WRT54g Router is setup in point A with wireless connection on.
Laptop computer at point C wireless connection, which is on the opposite side of the house. so this means it gets very low signal.
looks like this A ------------------------------------------ C
Now i was trying to put WAP54g at point B so that it can get signal from point A and boost it so that the signal can reach point C
so it looks like this A ---------------- B ------------------- C least that's what im trying to accomplish.
the wap54g only has for AP modes and i tried em all and cant get it to work. im missing a step i just dont know where lol

If you refer my previous post,you can setup your AP in a repeater mode and Router and AP will communicate wirelessly and it will send the wireless signal to your laptop.If you want to connect the AP hardwired to the router then,configure the AP in AP Mode.

Help wlse wnm status authenticated but not security keys setup

Hi all, i have a WLSE 2.15.2 and AP 1100 12.3(JEB), the state of the AP NM status is authenticated instead of security keys setup, they know because can be?, by this razon apparently does not send the AP the messages of RM to the WLSE, thanks.

Can you try to Enable *all* radio interfaces so that they're "up" in the "show ip interfaces brief" and then redo the inventory on the WLSE. Leave them up until the wlccp link comes to "SECURITY_KEYS_SETUP". Once it comes to that state, you can shut down the radio interface.Even after a reload, the SECURITY_KEYS_SETUP will remain.To expedite the process, run a Discovery job on the AP.

Airport Express Setup Help!

I just bought an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express. I was on a Linksys wireless network nooked up to a desktop PC. I started with the Express and got a green light after fiddling around with Airport Admin Utility.
Then I started playing with the Airport Extreme as a base station. I took off the Linksys and substituted the Airport Extreme. I configured the security setup to WEP since I still have some old PC laptop. I hooked up my cable modem to the Extreme with an ethernet cable.
I got everything working and now to try the Airport Express. I have not been able to get the Express to go on a green light anymore. I have reset a zillion times. Both reset while plugged in and reset while plugging in.
The airport extreme disk wiped out my Express software. After I reinstalled the express software I can use admin utility to play around with the setting on the Express. I have tried using the utility wireless via my MacBook and via an ethernet cable.
Setup assistant is no help at this point. I kept on getting an error message about no being able to communicate with the Express base station. I can see the Express base station on my menu bar.
Basically I cannot get on the internet when I use the Airport Express base station because some how it is NOT talking to the Airport Extreme base station.
I thought it was suppose to be an easy setup if I use both the Extreme and Express together.

Is your desired network configuration to use the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to extend the wireless network created by the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) as the Remote base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS)?
If so, and I am assuming that you have the older 802.11g (dome-shaped) AEBS, then try the following setup for WDS...
Set up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS)
(Note: To facilitate setting up the base stations, place them in near proximity of each other during the set up phase.)
Set up the as the WDS Main Base Station, by connecting directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then use the AirPort Admin Utility, located in /Applications/Utilities, to make the following settings.
WDS Tab
- Enable this base station as a WDS: main base station (checked)
- Enable wireless clients on this base station (optional)
- Click "+" to add the AX as the Remote Base Station.
-- Select the AX that you want to be the WDS Remote.
-- AirPort ID: <verify that this is the correct wireless MAC address for the AX you are adding as a Remote.
-- Auto configure as a WDS remote base station (checked)
-- Click "OK."
- Verify that the AX has been added to the list.
- Click "Update," and then verify the settings for the AX.
-- Allow wireless clients on this base station (checked)
-- New network name: <verify that this is the same as the network name for the AEBS>
-- TCP/IP: Configure using DHCP
-- Base Station Password: <the AX base station password>
-- Confirm: <same as previous step>
-- Click "OK."

Can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g)

I can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g) after setting it up. The router is working fine, but everytime I try to log on at 192.168.1.1 it says the password is incorrect. The first time I set it up I changed the default user name and password and I thought I had just forgot it, so I reset the device. This time I didn't change any of the defaults and I still can't log on. I already had to reset it several times, and it's just annoying. Does anyone knows how to keep it from happening? I thought it could be a firmware problem, but I can't find any downloads for my route'rs version (V8). I'm using a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2.

I had the same problem.. After trying the userid and password from my previous WRT54G2 without success and admin admin multiple times, I used the "router name" ==> Linksys as the user name and the security code that I used to set up the new router as the password and it let me in.. I was on the phone with LINKSYS technical suport during this 1 hour process and they were as much surprised as I was that this worked.. After gettin on and changing the config, (thanks to Honey), I was able to access the internet from the new E2500 THAT i HAD JUST INSTALLED.. success
