Secure Global Desktop - Won't Launch Application

We are having a problem with SGD - we can not launch applications.
We had SGD up and running good. However, we had several things occur and now it does not work. First we had to relocate our server due to building renovations. Then shortly after setting up the system in the new location, we had a hard drive fail. And unfortunately the sys admin guys did not have a good/current backup of the drive. We did however reload a backup that was about 9-months old. However it does not work correctly now.
We can bring up the main SGD web page, can login to the system, and see the applications and function set up in object manager. However when we try to launch an application it fails.
Looking in the error.log file we see a message "failed to open display"
However we can not see how SGD sets the display to enable the application to be viewed over the web connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Finally able to get into the Calssic Webtop. I ended up increasing the file descriptors and rebooting. I then totally removed the package again and installed again.
I get a java i/o exception if I select the first desctop login, but I fI select the classic webtop, I can at least log in and get the display page of the applications avaialble. When I select an application, I get a server timeout and the app does not start.
Now, I just need to figure what the issues are now and resolve them.

  • Windows domain authentication on Oracle Secure Global Desktop

    Hello,
I made an upgrade of my oracle secure global desktop 4.62 version to 5.1 version.
The problem is, I was using Windows Domain Authentication in 4.62 and this kind of authentication is not available in the 5.1 version.
So now, my users cannot log in the application.
Do you have a solution ?
    Thanks

What are you authenticating to specifically?  An AD server?  Are you using any of the supported authentication mechanisms now supported?

  • Firefox 3.6.3 crashes randomly when used throught SUN Secure Global Desktop. I have a Solaris core dump. Is there a way to get the dump read?

Running FF 2.0.0.8 with Sun Secure Global Desktop - no issues. Upgraded to V3.6.2, then 3.6.3. Both upgrades failed. Browser randomly crashes at different times, different pages. FF works if directly ssh'ing into application sever. When accessing FF after loging in using SGD, I get random crashes. I have a Solaris core dump generated by FF. Is there anyone that can read/diagnos the core dump?

I have identified the issue and received a 'fix' from the
Oracle Secure Global Desktop support team.
The issue - firefox is crashing when attempting to talk to the sound server which is not active. All activity within the window works fine, except ff hangs the second you move the mouse in to the top level menu.
We disabled the audio under the SGD configuration and that ficed the issue.

  • Firefox 1.0 and secure global desktop

Hi we have Tarantella Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition for Intel
    Linux kernel 2.4+ (3.42.947).
When using Internet explorer and secure global desktop i get my default
printer as ready . Then i can access the applications and im able to print.
But when i use firefox i just get a printer with a big red cross over it.
Seems like its not able to retrive the default printer. This means that i
have no deafult printer attached and cannot print.
Im using the latest java version on both browser
Anyone knows what causing this? And if there is a way to make this work in
firefox 1.0 which is our default browser
    thanks
    Ketil Rasmussen

    Ketil,
Firefox is not a supported client for v3.42. EE 4 does support Firefox 1.4+.

  • Secure Global Desktop 4.6

Hi - is there a version 4.6 for Secure Global Desktop?
If true, could someone point to the download?
    According to Oracle's website, version 4.5 doesn't exist - just 4.4.
But Google can find version 4.5.
    Thanks.

can you post the Listen lines of your httpd.conf file? Also try to
    restart the tomcat server
         $ tarantella webserver restart --servlet

  • Secure global desktop, Linux Fedora 18 (or 20) and SELinux

I have to use Oracle secure global desktop to connect to the remote desktop at work.
Up to a few months ago I had no problems but then suddenly SGD first started complaining about a unsafe java-version.
After updating java, SGD said that I had to update the sgd-client. So I also upgraded the sgd-client.
One of my laptops was even updated to Fedora but als, I still can´t use the remote client.
After an attempt to connect to the remote desktop, it takes 2 minutes and then an alert pops up (Error - SGD Client Helper), telling me that it failed to install the SGD client.
At nearly the same time I receive a SELINUX warning.
    The source process: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_55/bin/java
    unconfined_u:unconfined_r:mozilla_plugin_t:s0_s):c0.c1023
Troubleshooting suggest to enter these commands:
    # setsebool unconfined_mozilla_plugin_transition 0
    # grep java /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
    # semodule -i mypol.pp
but this does not help. SGD still refuses to install a client.
A colleague uses Ubuntu and he claims that he got SGD working.
Does this mean that SGD can't work with SELinux?
DOes anybody have a suggestion on how to get SGD working on a 64-bit version of Linux?

    Sorry,
It was that one of our system administrators said that I could download a tarantella client at http://ejdv.tce.com.tw/cgi-bininstall.cgi. Without his help I wouldn't have found this client.
It is that you gave me a link to the requirements but I still don't know how I could find this page (starting at Oracle.com)
Pointing to a bugreport (that was the only place I found where it said that I had to install additional libraries) is not something I would call as fully covering the requirements.
I may be wrong but for me the Oracle-site is still one of my least favourite sites. It is that sometimes I have to visit but I'm always frustrated and irritated.

  • Secure Global Desktop Android Client

I want to allow my mobile user to use the application on tablets samsung tab 2. What is the best way? is it possible to install a client on android.Or how to set up a java client on android system?
thank you so much for your help.

won't work. You need a platform specific client for SGD.  SGD 5.0 supports iPad client, so HTML5 support is being brought to SGD.

  • .zxp won't launch application manager

I downloaded the adobeExchangePanel.zxp file and wanted to install it.  Windows 7 wants to know what program to use.  The instructions on this website said to use Adobe Application Manager.  It is not listed anywhere within the windows options.  I checked the properties for the program and it appears to be an applet.
I tried to launch the Application Manager first, but that did no good.  I could not find any way to tell it to open the .zxp file.
How can I get this Exchange Panel installed?
    Gary.

Hi Gary, Please use Adobe Extension Manager to install Adobe Exchange.
If you do not have Extension Manager, please download it from here: http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/

  • Sun Secure Global Desktop Portlets

Hi, I want to deploy the Sun's SGD Portlets on Sun Portal Server 7, I have finished configuring the portal desktop, anyone can give me some idea where I can find the portlets for the SGD? thanks a lot !!

may want to ignore SGD portlets for the moment if you use SRA. We are using SRA + JES 2004Q2, and SGD, and had to switch to their webtop, because of some bugs with the portlet - most obvious is a race condition between netlets + SGD portlet, requiring netlets, so you get the netlets trying to load twice, which it doesn't like.
I believe they are continuing to work on the portlet, so I'm sure it will be fixed in time.
    - if you aren't using SRA, then go for it, the base functionality / integration of SGD's portlet, which we tested an alpha was pretty decent.
    Thanks
    Dave
