Secure/https  options for Facebook Tab

I want to plug some of the pages of our BC site into Facebook Tabs, but FB reuqires that pages to be secure(https).
Can I make the entire shop and or other pages of our BC site 'SSL/secure'?
I can not find an answer elsewhere?
TIA

Should just have said not possible. I actually still think it is imposible.
Client is no where near right and you need to not let them drive the development.
"What are you trying to achieve"
And
"No"
are powerful allies in the web world.
You hear the why, and then you give them the sollution, not the other way around
Like when a client asks to make the logo bigger. You ask the reasons why they want this, is because branding? is it just because? And you explain about the website branding, people come to the site from google or from a business card and have a purpose, the site is the branding and discovering what they need to lead to leads etc. The logo bigger distracts from those key call to actions etc and has the opposite effect etc.
Explain that and 99% of the time they just agree.
Your the pro, they paying you to do them a good job so take control. You tell them it is not possible, people wont use it, bad experience, iframes, https and functionality - no way will it work well.
Show them mightape example and just do that and they achieve what they want

  • Fix Bollixed security certificate setting for facebook?

Hi, running ff 15.0.1 on winXP sp2:
After months of using 'restart my computer' as a workaround for the "untrusted connection" error message that occasionally blocks all facebook access, I got disgusted a few days ago and tried to create an exception in the 'security certificates' dialog, but I was over my head and messed it up...
...I thought I was trying to create a blanket exception for www.facebook.com, but what i ended up with was FF REMOVING www.facebook.com from every FB url, so that when I tried to go to, say, www.facebook.com/my.name, I got an "Invalid URL" message stating that "The requested URL "/my.name", is invalid." :-(
after struggling to figure out how to fix this by searching the forums, I found a recommendation to use 'clear recent history' to undo my mistake: I cleared the previous hour, and voila! problem solved, yay!
alas, returning home from a weekend trip several days later, after browsing FB for about 30 minutes the problem has recurred, and 'clear recent history' doesn't solve it... I don't want to 'reset firefox' for various reasons. The thread at http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/878694?s=clear+security+certificate+settings&r=7&as=s seems to offer a possible path to a solution but I'm having trouble sorting out the terms... is there a simple way to do something like 'revert to default security settings', or just find where my bad change is stored and reset or delete it? It seems like it should be a really straightforward 'undo' operation but I'm stymied, and don't want to mess things up even more: I have a lot of work going on in open facebook tabs and it would be a little tragic to lose it... any help? Thanks in advance!

I appreciate the educational links, Cor-el, but they seem like unsatisfying workarounds that disable key features of FF and/or FB without actually addressing my question, which was:
"is there a simple way to do something like 'revert to default security-certificate settings', or just find where my bad change is stored and reset or delete it?" [without doing a "Reset FireFox"]
...the problem 'went away by itself' within an hour, but has recurred twice since then (for brief periods)
Cor-el, I use autocomplete-url as a regular part of my navigation, and I LIKE having a secure connection to facebook, so I don't want to use these workarounds that disable key features of FF and don't actually address the 'wierd behavior'. Since I see that you're a big contributor in this forum, I'm guessing the fact that you offer no better suggestion than this may mean that we're looking at a bug or at least a major glitch. I acknowledge that this COULD be a FB issue, or even a "User is an idiot" issue, but I'm pretty sure it's a fouled path to re-edit my FF security-certificate settings.
If anyone cares to review the original post and try again, I'll appreciate it. I consider this ticket still open :-)
    Thanks for all you do,

    3. Upon trying to share via NFC with Samsung Tab 2 it didnt work + soon after disabling the NFC my phone's Hard Buttons (all) went unresponsive. Only Screen Touch worked and I was on settings screen from where i couldnt navigate anywhere unless the Back and the Windows button work. The Phone screenwent off in 30 seconds and it was unresponsive on any button press. U tried calling myself and it was ringing but 920 didnt even lit up or show any signs of incoming call. I had to perform a battery pull by pressing volume down and power post which it booted fine.
You won't be able to share anything via NFC with the Galaxy Tab because it actually uses WiFi direct to do the file sharing but the 920 uses Bluetooth. NFC is there to just pair the two devices but not to transfer data between the two.
Also, from what you have described, your phone froze which has been known to happen and you correctly performed a simulated battery pull.

  • Best and most secure tracking option for large scale iPad deployment?

Hi, we are deploying iPads to hotel rooms on a large scale basis and need to find an appropriate solution to securely track them in case they are stolen.
We are actually considering Find my iPhone for its simplicity, but the 100 devices limit and also the fact it is relatively easy to disable poses a problem.
On the other spectrum there is AirWatch which is very expensive.
I was wondering if any other options are available for this?
    Best regards
    Florian

MobileIron Sentry iPad app, enterprise IT departments can track iPhones and iPads, view device inventory, block offending or compromised devices, and remotely wipe stolen, lost or compromised units. The application also enables remotely suspending email access for active staff, just-terminated employees, and others.
    Just read about it.

  • Why isn't there an option for new tabs to open to your homepage?

This was an option in previous versions of Firefox. What sense does it make to remove functionality?
I don't want to have to middle click my home button, and it's absolutely ridiculous to have to install an extra addon to restore basic features that were included in versions that came out 5 years ago.
    What's the deal?

Here is the newest iteration of an addon that "fixes" this missing feature-
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/my-homepage/
Of course, just like all the others before it, it will eventually break the functionality of itself or another addon in some way or form and we will once again have to find a replacement that restores this very basic feature which other browsers have implemented but Firefox has taken away.
I never gave Chrome or any other browser the time of day because I never needed to, but since Mozilla devs are removing basic features that people want and continually refusing to re-implement them (due to stubbornness or stupidity, 7 years in the making) it's beginning to sound like a better alternative every second.

  • 5130 im option for facebook

Facebook does not currently support the IMPS protocol, which this program uses.

  • Tab free browsing- why no option for this. Tabstrip = clutter

Please give me option for no tabs, why you not let me choose
whether to use them or not- I despise tabs.
I see no use for them, yet I am forced to have a
tab strip cluttering up my screen- I want to be able to get rid of it.
    Very annoying.

hello, apparently this option has been removed intentionally in preparation for a redesign of the browser which will land in firefox later this year. you can use the following extension to work around the issue though: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/hide-tab-bar-with-one-tab/

  • Difference between my-secure-amf and my-secure-http

Whats the difference between my-secure-amf and my-secure-http?

For historical reasons, an "AMF" channel is binary encoded AMF byte stream over HTTP.  an "HTTP" channel (bad name!) is an AMFX encoded XML stream over HTTP.
For more on the different types of channels see the documentation here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycleDataServicesES/3.1/Developing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e 0811f00f6e876-7fecUpdate.html

  • Why would Safari try to insert an s, as in https, into the facebook log in.  Safari won't open the secure page. Advice?

Why would Safari try to insert an s, as in https, into the facebook log-in page.  "Safari can't connect to this secure page."  I've checked preferences and cannot find a reason for this change to the regular facebook address. Safari 5.0.5 on MacbookAir.  I can't even download the updated software.

If you leave your session idle for a while, the site might log you out due to inactivity, but... I wouldn't trust that, either.
Usually your bank will have a link, menu, or some other way to log out. Certainly that is the best thing if you can do it. Sometimes if a site is not fully compatible with Firefox its style rules will result in a jumbled layout. You can disable all the style rules and view the site in a plainer layout to see whether you can spot the missing link. To do that:
tap the Alt key > View menu > Page Style > No Style
(The tab will remain unstyled going forward. You can use the same menu to reapply the page's style sheets later.)
Also, if you want to break the connection between Firefox and your banking session, you can clear your cookies for the bank site. This won't necessarily have any effect on your banking session ''on the server'' but should make it impossible for someone to use your Firefox to do anything in that session. To clear cookies for the current site, you can use the Page Info dialog. Here are 3 ways to open it:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * click the padlock on the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then reload the page and the site should behave as though you are not logged in.

  • What are the different options for implementing web security?

    Hi,
Right now I am working on an internet website. We are using JSP for presentation and running Weblogic Application Server. I want to know different options for implementing website security. One of the options that I am aware of is to use LDAP. But we donot want to go and buy a LDAP Directory Server now. So I would really appreciate if somebody could let me know my choices here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you are working on a Windows 2000 platform, the most obvious choice would be Active Directory Server as this is shipped free with Server 2000. It is LDAP compliant, although does have a few differences that set it apart from the other X500 standard based solutions which I will mention in a moment. Details on these differences can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnactdir/html/msdn_activedirvsnds.asp
Other options are openldap, an open source implementation of an ldap server or iPlanet's Directory Server. If you are initially doing an evaluation, a trial version is available of the iPlanet software and can be downloaded from their site. I found this particularly easy to get to grips with and their is excellent documentation available. There is also an offering from Novell, but I have no experience of this.
    Hope this helps.
    Jon

  • Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5? I want to choose "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net" but Firefox won't let me.

In the previous version of Firefox one could choose to save tabs so that when Firefox opened, all the tabs from the previous sessions appeared. This was done in Settings > Options > General > Startup. In the menu for the "When Firefox Starts" one had the option for "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net." in Firefox 5.0, this menu is gray and not clickable. Help, please?

''Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5?"
Possibly you are not saving your "browsing history" which is what the session history is tied into.
'''Not saving History''' -- check your settings for '''Tools > options > Privacy'''', make sure you are not clearing more than just cache in "Settings for Clearing History"
    * http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    * clearing your history at end of session, cache is the only one you would want to clear at end of session, if you don't want to lose things
There are several things that are related to private browsing and not saving History
    * Private Browsing Ctrl+Shift+P
    * You selected "Never remember history" in first drop-down of Tools > Options Privacy and all of the check marks disappear (See picture above)
    * "Permanent private browsing mode" was check-marked under "Use custom settings for history" in the first drop-down of Tools > options > Privacy (see picture above)

  • Installed LR 3.2, and export does not show any options for exporting to Smugmug, Facebook etc

I fresh installed LR 3.2 on a Windows 7 computer to try out tethering (which worked fine), but then tried to export the photos, but I don't have any options for exporting to non-harddrive based locations. The "export to" drop down at the top of the export page only has "hard drive" in it. The plugin manager says that plugins for SmugMug, Facebook, etc are all enabled.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Mike

I found too that the publishing services work differently than the plug-ins.  Not as intuitive, but work well just the same,  For me I had to do the "set-up" for the Facebook publishing service a couple of times.  I think this may have more to do with the Facebook security settings than with LR.

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).
