Secure Print on Image Runner Advance C2230

Hello,
I'm trying to set up a few Mac OS X users for an office environment that requires secure printing on a Canon Image Runner Advance C2230.  I wasn't able to set up the printer using Bonjour so I found it directly through its IP.  I then tried several different versions of the driver like PS, PPD, UFRII (even though I don't really understand the difference).  I did get the printer and Mac to communicate reliably and print, but can't get the secure print function to work.  I see where the settings are and have selected to use secure print, but it just goes straight to the printer without having to go in and confirm the printout from the queue with the department ID.  The only thing that I don't know what to set is where the settings have drop down boxes for mode 1 and mode 2 and can't find any documentation or anything that explains what they're for.  If anyone has any experience or advice I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for posting! Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) and we will be happy to provide you with the names of dealers who are in your area!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Just ran a test and I got a perfect card. Here's what I did.
1 - create the card and type Command-P.
2 - select Stylus Photo R200 under Printer
3 - click on the Advanced button
4 - in the bottom drop down menu select Paper Handling
5 - select the radio button "Use documents paper size: 7.00 in x 10.00 in
6 - now select Print Settings in the 3rd drop down menu
7 - select the type of paper you're using and the print quality you want. I used Photo and High Speed. (also used plain paper for my test)
9 - put a piece of 7 x 10 paper in the printer (yes, you'll have to trip the paper beforehand or use card stock designed for this)
    10 - click on Print
11 - when the paper exits the printer quickly put it back in the printer
That will do it. Now there is a caveat. Putting it back into the printer before drying tended to get my leading edge nipped. If you use heaver card stock I don't think that will happen but just be aware. If you wait a moment to put the page, turned over, back into the printer to let the ink dry a bit, all you'll have to do is press the middle button which will be blinking red and that will feed the other side thru when you're ready.

  • Does anyone have a PowerShell script which change the paper source on a Canon Image Runner Advance?

I came across this Powershell script on the web, which does a good job of printing out PDFs:
    Start-Process -FilePath "C:\Users\Test\Documents\Listing.pdf” –Verb Print -PassThru | %{sleep 10;$_} | kill
    Start-Process -FilePath “C:\Users\Test\Documents\Scan0001.pdf” –Verb Print -PassThru | %{sleep 10;$_} | kill
    Start-Process -FilePath “C:\Users\Test\Documents\Scan0004.pdf” –Verb Print -PassThru | %{sleep 10;$_} | kill
    See: http://gregcaporale.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/powershell-to-print-files-automatically/
What I want to know is, does someone know how to write a Powershell script so that before printing out each PDF, a tab will be pulled from a separate paper source tray.  I need the Powershell script to
    1. Set the paper source to tray 4 where the tabs are.
    2. Print a one page PDF which just reads "Tab 1" or whatever, on the tab itself
    3. Set the paper source to ray 1 where letter sized paper is.
    4. Print a PDF of the document to go behind tab 1.
    . . . and then repeat.
I am working with a Canon Image Runner Advance copier/printer into which tabs can be loaded. It includes an insert sheets setting in the properties, which allows a user to specify the pages where a tab or slip sheet should go.  But I don't want to deal with creating a very large PDF, and then identifying all of the pages where an insert should occur.

  • Undoing the "print as image" setting

    Good morning all,
Yesterday I needed to print a document created with Adobe Reader.  The printing was so faint it was barely visible, so I utilized the setting "print as image" in Advanced.
Now, I am unable to print anything:  the paper goes through the printing process without any problem, but the page emerges completely blank.  And now I no longer see the "print as image" option under Advanced...help!!
    Thank you so much!!

    Hi @Weesap
I'd be happy to help you with your 7525. I understand you are able to print, but there is no black ink on the page. Please begin with the steps in the following document; Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in... << this applies to the 7525 too.
If you complete all of the steps in the document above and the issue continues, my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution offered in the following video.  I only suggest doing this if he printer and printhead are out of warranty.  Hot Water Printhead Flush - HP Ink Series Printers with removable Printhead.
I have recommended this solution to others and have seen success, but I can not guarantee this will resolve the issue, it is an end of the line kind of effort. I hope it helps.

Although the printer might be out of warranty, if the issue persists, HP may be able to offer you something. Maybe they can offer you a discount on a newer model, or discuss the option of replacing the printhead!  If after all of our efforts the issue remains, I suggest calling HP. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Printer Dialog Box in CS4 - Printing Grayscale Images

I hope I'm not duplicating a new topic. I thought I opened this topic yesterday but I don't seem to be able to locate it in this forum. So, I'll try again. This is a pivotal CS4 question re printer set-up for grayscale images with and without b&w profiles.
When setting up print parameters for a Grayscale image in PS CS4 I no longer have the option to select "No Color Management." It seems to be available to RGB images but not grayscale. Which leads to the question as to how I set up print parameters to print grayscale images using Advanced Black & White mode. Can you help?
    Regards,
    King Dexter

As it turns out my original problem has led into a more serious set of color management changes found in CS4. In my case, for instance, I'm finding it difficult to determine the correct way to print untagged, ABW grayscale profiling targets. Others are having similar difficulties with color profiling. Other forums are buzzing as people migrate to PSCS4: Here are just a few examples that hopefully will attract Adobe attention here:
    Excerpt #1:
Sounds like this should be raised in the PS forums where Chris Cox
will pick it up. (I raised the colour mgt issues of Bridge there and
    they picked that up.)
    Excerpt #2:
The deeper explanation going on here has to do with printing interfaces on OS X changing over time. In the past, some printer drivers (notably Canon, with its older iPF series printers) did not interpret the image data appropriately and thus had incorrect driver settings that could not be reset by the user. Photoshop CS3 worked around some of these issues for specific drivers, but did not conform to Apple's OS X specifications for how to pass image data to the print driver, leading to problems elsewhere. With CS4, Adobe has taken the approach of conforming to Apple's latest print driver interface specifications, so CS4 now has the same behavior as LR with regards to printing on OS X.
However, many print drivers have not been updated to conform to the OS X printing interface, and thus some folks are experiencing printing issues, such as double color-management. This is unfortunate, but it really needs to be addressed by the printer drivers.
Now, back to the ABW situation: I don't know if Epson has a glitch with the ABW driver under the latest OS X release. I have occasionally seen what you've seen: i.e., I hit "Print" in PS CS4 and nothing comes out. But then I mess around a little with the Epson printer driver configuration and then it works.
In particular, I found that if I had an older "saved setting" or preset within the Epson driver that I used to recall a particular ABW driver setting, then it would fail. So I deleted all my Epson driver presets and started again from scratch (manually selecting media type, color mode, ABW settings, paper config, etc.) Then I haven't had any trouble printing ABW images since.
    Excerpt #3
I've done some testing of various color management approaches and it is indeed
    confusing.
Here's what I've deduced using CS3 and CS4 with drivers printing stepwedges.
CS3 with No Color Mgmt I consider the "correct" result. The driver gets 21
    evenly stepped values.
With CS4, only Photoshop Manages Color with Print Profile = Working Gray Space
gives the identical results. (assuming grayscale, untagged file).
Printer Manages Color makes a default conversion to Generic Gray Profile which
is a gamma 1.8 profile. If you happen to use GG 1.8 as a working space this conversion may not hurt but if you use GG 2.2 it'll darken the print. I think this has been true in PS for
    several versions.
To make things more complicated OS X 10.5 has a new print dialog pane called
Color Matching which allows you to select Colorsync vs driver based mode and ICC profiles. I
don't know how this will affect things -- I'd leave it alone.
No Color Management is selectable with an RGB file but I just got blank pages
    with this option.
-- QTR definitely received a blank page from the system. This is probably
    related to your
    ABW printing not working.
Note that the CS4 documentation specifically states to use No CM for making
    custom ICC profiles.

You can still capture a screen in OS X. It saves your captures as .png image files to your Desktop.
Command-Shift-3 will capture all your see. Command-Shift-4 will turn your mouse into cross-hairs that you drag across any area. And a click on the spacebar (after the above keyboard commands) will turn your cursor into a camera icon that can capture individual windows. Still free.
Snapz Pro allows you to capture (as QuickTime video) anything in its window. It continues to capture until you close it.

My guess is that you also have the Canon PPDs and/or the Canon PS driver installed on this Mac and you selected either one of these PPDs when you added the printer. So you should remove this printer and add a new one, ensuring you select the correct PPD. It will be listed in the Printer Software window as "Canon iR-ADV C5045/5051"

The Network Printer kit which provided PCL5e and Postscript support was an option in our region for the iR5020. This may not be the case for you in the USA. If you have been printing already with this machine from Windows or older Mac versions then you most likely have the kit already.
You can check the existence of the kit by pressing the Counter Check button on the copier keyboard and then selecting the Device Configuration on the touch screen. This will show you if the Network Printer kit has been installed. If your machine does not have the kit then you will need to contact your local Canon copier sales dealership. However that model is about 7 years old so you may not have much luck with obtaining this kit now...
If you do have the printer kit then you can download the Canon PPDs via this [link|http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100267504.html]. The package has the PPDs for many models of Canon imageRUNNER. After you unpack the file you run the installer to copy the files to your Mac. Then when you create your IP > LPD print queue you will find the Canon iR5020 in the Print Using menu.

  • How to Set up Print As Image Registry Default.

This is a response to the archived post at:
martin hrubes, "How to customize printing by registry - print as image" #, 6 Nov 2007 2:28 am
I was trying to find out how to set the "Print As Image" advanced setting to be enabled by default. Here is what I discovered through trial and error.
    1. The setting is stored per user and per printer. (i.e. it has to be set for each printer for each user.)
    2. The registry setting is stored in the following key:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\General\cPrintAsImage]
    3. In this key, each printer has a separate binary value named s0, s1, s2, etc. The number increments by 1 for each printer added. If you open the value data, you will see it contains the name of the printer encoded in hex. (ex. hex coded for \\Server\Printer1)
My recomendation is to open a pdf file in reader, go to File -> Print ->Select Desired Printer -> Click "Advanced" Options -> Enable "Print As Image" -> Click OK - Click OK again. Repeat for each printer you want to
    change.
**NOTE** If you don't click OK both times (i.e. cancel the print dialog), the change will not be saved. You have to actually print something to the printer. If you don't want to print something, make sure the printer is offline or not accessible (unplug the network, usb, parallel, serial cable) first. Once the printer has been changed, it will keep the setting until to you change it.
After you have set-up all of the desired printers, open RegEdit and navigate to the above key. Right click on it, and export it. Note the file name and location you are saving to. Close RegEdit. "Edit" (Right Click) the file just exported ("Opening" the file will just import it back into the registry.). Once opened, highlight and copy the registry key and all of the registry values. Paste the key and values at the end of the file. In one of the keys change "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\" to "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\". Save and exit the file.
When imported this file will enable the "Print As Image" setting for the currently logged in user plus add the setting to the default users profile so any new users to the machine will have it enabled by default also. However, it will not add it to any other user profiles that already exist on the computer. To do this, either use a login script for domain computers or add the reg file to the "All Users Startup" folder.
It would be nice to have a setting in the deployment custimazation wizard to handle this, but for now we're stuck with enabling it the hard way.

Yes Spyla, please see this link http://www.404techsupport.com/2008/09/09/make-adobe-reader-and-adobe-acrobat-use-print-as- image-setting-by-default-2/comment-page-1/#comment-3112.
Allan, many thanks for your post, it certainly helped point me in the right direction.  what I found though is that you do not need to tick the print as image box at any point during the setting up of this.  All you need to do is add the registry key for whichever version of Adobe you are using for this to work.  So basically. what you are saying for each instance of Adobe is regardless of whether or not the print as image is selected, the registry key is saying always print as image for the printer as specified by the hex code. I have found that for network printers, you have to include the full path i.e. \\<servername>\<printername> e.g \\testserver\printer1 and convert all of that to hex. With later versions (9 up over), they have allowed for the string name of the printer so that it is just plain text which also makes life easier.
What I do is apply this registry entry via Group Policy on a per room basis so that we only ever need to add one printer to the list.  you could do this globally by adding all printers sequentially using s0, s1, s2 or t0, t1, t2 etc depending on which version you are using.  The screenshot shows the registry key for 1 printer for Adobe Reader 8.
The value data is the binary code for the actual full printer name
    This works a treat.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader bypasses "secure print" settings when printing from IE add-on

We have the IE add-on for Adobe Reader enabled (Internet Explorer 9), and we've found that for some people this is causing PDFs to get printed without the "secure print" option, even though the print dialog shows it. Our printer settings all have the setting enabled for "secure print", which requires you to enter a PIN on the printer before the print job will be released. When printing PDFs from Adobe Reader (currently 11.0.3, but I couldn't see anything in the release notes for .4, .5. or .6 that are relevant) outside of IE, secure print works fine, but when it's opened within the Adobe Reader plugin for IE, the secure print setting is enabled but the print job gets sent to the printer without the PIN requirement... somehow.
I'm completely stumped by it, and didn't even believe it until I saw it myself.
Does anyone know what might be working differently when a PDF is printed from the add-on than when it's printed by a 'full' instance of Adobe Reader?
On an affected PC, if you disable the add-on, the PDF opens in that full instance and works normally, so it's very definitely related (somehow) to the add-on specifically.

    Hey,
I have been advised against monitor calibration, and I'm assuming if all of my other products have come back correct in terms of colour I see on screen that it should be ok?
the person that told me about the Adobe workspace has the same printer, but she works in Photoshop, and had someone set it up for her. She tried to help over phone, but is difficult as we have different versions of Adobe software, and it was a while since she had it done.
My workspace is currently in RGB, so would you suggest working in CMYK?
If I have my workspace set to Adobe RGB (1998) should I then be changing my printer profile to the same one?
I've attached the colour setting screen shot, I've not done anything to change this.
I think I need the setting on bottom image set to 'colour sync' is that right?
I'm also not sure about the relative colourimetric option. When at art college, I was always told to print in perceptual, but not sure which is best option here.

  • Printing .GIF images with PHP

    Hello,
As part of a PHP IF statement, I would like to print an image
instead of text. How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    John

I've done some dabbling in PHP's GD library (the image
    manipulation extension of PHP).
What I have done in the past is create a separate php file
just for the image output. I then pass in the parameters needed to
create the image in the image request. So as an example, I'd send
    the image request like so:
    http://domain.com/preview_image.php?text_string=Type%20Text%20Here&text_color=black&bg_col or=white&font=ADORABLE
preview_image.php is the php file that contains the script to
generate the image based off of the text_string, text_color, and
bg_color variables contained in the query parameters.
Or if you don't need a dynamic image, just echo the image tag
    inside the if statement:
    echo "<img src='pathtoimage.jpg'>;

  • Print as image doesn't work Adober Reader X

Recently, I tried to print out a 'For Sale' .pdf file available from autotrader.com and it split the image into two parts and didn't print out as displayed on the computer screen with an hp d2445 deskjet printer. I tried to follow a suggestion found in the forums for Adobe Reader that says to mark the 'Print as image' box in the advanced print setup part of the Adobe Reader program to no avail.
What should I do in this situation beyond check marking this box?
I did try another printer on another machine and it printed correctly. I called hp about this problem and they said that it was likely a problem with the Adobe Reader software or a problem with the driver for the hp d2445 printer which was purchased in 2009 but is now considered obsolete in 2011. It seems to me, that if it looks ok on the screen it should print out ok on the printer, though. So, I was disappointed for this printer. I also tried to reinstall windows 7 32 bit home premium, and reinstalled the drivers for the printer from hp.com to no avail. The troubleshooting utility for the printer indicates that all systems are go.

This was happening to me with a form I created in acrobat Pro X and was testing using Reader X (accessing the fillable form from the internet so I want to make sure people can use it) for submitting.  This general preference change fixed my problem but I can't fix it for all the visitors on my website (no way to set this in the form itself after it is opened?) I can get the file to attach and create an email but only if I leave off the email address (I just enter 'mailto:' in the URL). Please let me know if anyone out there has a possible solution that will work for the web - I have an order form that can be filled out online.

How do I create a mirror image for text  to print on a tshirt transfer paper?  I can do it with my old printer but I can't find the area were I would click Mirror Image for this printer.

    Hi @adamjoshme ,
I understand that you want to know how to print a mirror image. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
This feature might not be available with this model. You would have to check the printer preferences, in the Advanced section for Mirror Image and turn it on from there if it is available. I checked the manual and it didn't show this feature.
If you don't have that option in the driver then use Paint, Under Rotate select Rotate 180 degree's and then under Rotate select flip horizontally.
    Hope this helps.
