Secure Store and Excel Services

Greetings,
I have an Excel workbook that connects to an external SQL database.  A simple stored procedure is executed and the data displayed in a sheet.  This is a simple connection and works without issue when I open the workbook in Excel itself.
I now want to display this workbook in Excel Services, so I performed the following:
I created a Secure Store Service (no issues) and added a new target application.
In the target application, I selected Individual as the target application type.
On the next page, I used the correct credentials.
Saved the new target application entry in secure store services.
Then I updated the Excel workbook data connection to use the Target Application ID I just created in Secure Store Service.
When I refresh the data, while the workbook is open in Excel, all works without issue.
However, when I open the workbook in Excel Services, the data refresh fails; External Data Refresh Failed - An error occurred while accessing the application id from Secure Store Service.
Can anyone tell me what the conditions are that would cause this?
Thank you!

Hi Bob,
Whats up, how are you? Do you want to send me an email or give me a call, Ill send you a copy of our Book Business Intelligence in SharePoint 2013 and walk through the Excel Services Issue..
Take the Application ID and add it to the Excel Services Service Application, Global Settings, Application ID.
While still in Global Settings Set the File Access Method to Process Account
Please make sure the Library you are using for the Excel Workbook, and the Data Connection Library are both in a trusted locations.
In the ODC File make sure you have set Data Connection Authentication to None and specify in Excel to Always use this Office Data Connector
Cheers,
-Ivan

  • Error when changing password of NW J2ee's secure store and Oracle sqlplus

    Hi all,
I am wondering on the following:
    Current setting:
    I have "old_password" for J2ee configtool's secure store.
    I have "old_password" for Oracle's sapsr2 user inside Sqlplus.
When I change the password for all 3 place from "old_password" to "new_password", I am not able to connect to configtool. I am also not able to start the Portal service; with logfile error "invalid user/password"
If I change the password back to "old_password", I can connect to configtool as well as start the service.
Snote and forumers (google) mention that update configtool's secure store and "alter user sapsr3" for Oracle database is all I need to change password.
Have I miss out some step in order to change the password for my Enterprise Portal?
    Thank you.

  • What Performance Load for simulationg end-use load for Power View and Excel Services?

I have SQL Server 2014 DW, OLAP Cube, SharePoint 2013, Power View(Silverlight) and Excel Services.
I would like to monitor performance with perfmon and analyse results with PAL.
But how to generate end-user load for 1000 users? We would have several end-user roles to simulate each clicking differents slicers in reports.
What tools are capable for this?
Any experiences about HP Loadrunner or Neoload with MS BI tools?
Does Microsoft have any compatible load generation tool?

    Simplest:
Write an MDX script with randomized parameter to be executed in a loop using SSMS.
Run the script in 50 SSMS query windows. Run it on 20 machines (20x50 = 1000).

  • LDAP security provider and web service authentication

Background: we are currently developing web services to our existing weblogic application. Our users can configure user/password authentication in one of three ways: database, LDAP, or SSO. Setting SSO aside, we need to implement the same authentication for database and LDAP that we use in our existing logon servlet in our web services. In our servlet we detect which they are configured for and, if database, authenticate the encrypted password to a database table we have for user id/password. If LDAP we use weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication and the weak() method to authenticate.
We've to use SOAP headers to communicate username/password from the client to the web service. We want to code a SOAP message handler to grab the username/password and do the authentication there. We've successfully put something together that handles the database authentication no problem and are now struggling with how to handle the LDAP authentication. We distribute a LDAP security provider we've coded for LDAP authentication. I guess what I am looking for is an equivalent functionality provided with weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication. Note that I realize the weblogic.servlet.security package has been deprecated starting with Weblogic 9.0 but cannot find what functionality replaces it. Any help there would be appreciated as well.
Note that I am fairly new to web service development (about 10 months now) and definitely new to web service security and Weblogic security. I tried digging into the volumes of documentation out there regarding these two topics but am simply having a difficult time sorting it all out and figuring out how to do what I want to do.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Add Provider (LDAP Credentials) in Admin console Security Realm --> defaultrealm -->Providers. Configuring Ldap in Admin Console will enable Admin Server to connect to LDAP. All the LDAP preconfigured Users/Groups will be available in Users and Groups Tab of Security Realms >defaultrealm >Users and Groups. Add Roles using Security Realms >defaultrealm > Roles and Policies > Global Roles > Roles. Add Role Conditions to the role by specifying users/groups configured in LDAP. If your webservice runs with SSL Anotate the Webservice file something like this below.
    @RolesAllowed({
    @SecurityRole(role="test")
    @Policy(
    uri="policy:Wssp1.2-2007-Https-UsernameToken-Plain.xml",
    attachToWsdl=true)
Here the role is Preconfigired role in AdminConsole. Add the following tag in the soapenv:header.

  • Infopath and Excel Services Not enough storage is available to process this command.

    Hi
I am trying to access book.xlsx for vacation requests with the following url
    "_vti_bin/ExcelRest.aspx/sites/BPIT/Documents/Book1.xlsx/Model/Ranges('Vacations')?$format=atom&Ranges('FirstDayOff')=2012-10-01&Ranges('LastDayOff')=2012-10-10"
    And shows me error as
Not enough storage is available to process this command.
I would appreciate if anybody can provide solution for the same as it seems very generic.
    Thanks

    Hi,
How large is your Excel document (total, not just the range you are using)? Does the Rest Web service work with a small range within your spreadsheet?
The error itself, "Not enough storage is availabe to process this command" is commonly seen in InfoPath if the SharePoint server does not have enough contiguous memory to process the data. This error is most common on minimum hardware requirement servers,
as well as high end hardware servers when working with large amounts of data at one time.

  • R/3 Secure Store and Forward, while using SAP portal for SSO

    Hello,
We are using SAP Portal UME for authentication, then SAP SSO tickets to log into the SAP R/3 system.  Initially we decided that the end users would have a "disabled password" so that they must use the portal authentication mechanism to get into R/3 and therefore could not log in straight to R/3 system via SAP GUI.
All was working fine until during integration testing when someone tried to use the electronic signature function on a QM t-code (QA11) that prompted for an e-sig.  Since local passwords have been disabled, the user could not execute the e-sig.
We do not want to activate local R/3 passwords for the users.  Can anyone give some advice or a best practice regarding how to set up electronic sigs in R/3 while using an external authentication source? FYI, we are also trying to avoid using the LDAP connector from R/3 to our LDAP.
Please comment for any clarity needed or comments,
    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

Good point - but I'm afraid of not knowning an instant answer.
Well, theoretically one could make use of the fact that an NWAS ABAP can act as http client (submitting http requests to the NWAS Java to validate logon data); but that's just a rough idea.

  • The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible

I am working on setting up a new SharePoint 2013 Farm for our external web site which is currently running on 2010 SharePoint. Because this is an External Website for our organization we have an internally available Publishing Site and there is an Web App
Extension to provide Anon Access to users using the www address. Currently I am doing everything on a single server for testing with HOSTS entries to loop back so I can test with real host headers and not impact the 2010 prod environment. We will be setting
up 2 more WFEs with a NLB before moving this into prod but it isn't there yet. We brought the Site Collection Databases over but are still running in 2010 mode for now.
I migrated a copy of the Secure Store Database over from 2010 and had it put on the 2013 Farm's Database Server. Set up Secure Store and the Secure Store Proxy. I went into the Secure Store Proxy in CA and refreshed the Key with the proper Pass Phrase. After
doing that I could see the Target Application IDs listed. Everything was looking good so I went off to test. If I am on the publishing site I can go to a page that has the solution on it and it operates as expected. It does a query to a non SharePoint database
and returns information filtered based on the search parameters. The only odd thing I see is if I click on the "Site Actions" I get a message "An error has occurred with the data fetch. Please refresh page and retry." Need to look into
that more but it only happens on pages that have these solutions. Maybe a clue. If I go to the Anonymous Access page (www......) and try and use the solution, it immediately (way too quick to appear like it is doing anything) comes back with "The security
    token request cannot be completed."
If I dig through the usage logs I am finding the following.
The Secure Store Service application Secure Store Service Proxy is not accessible. The full exception text is: The security token request cannot be completed.
Unexpected exception from endpoint address : https://[Servername]:32844/4e87fd3aabb640fb8cc3ed52188cf5c0/SecureStoreService.svc/https
Logging unknown/unexpected client side exception: InvalidOperationException. This will cause this application server to be removed from the load balancer queue. Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The security token request cannot be completed.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurityContext.SecurityTokenForServiceContext(Uri contextUri)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPChannelFactoryOperations.InternalCreateChannelActingAsLoggedOnUser[TChannel](ChannelFactory`1 factory, EndpointAddress
address, Uri via)     at Microsoft.Office.SecureStoreService.Server.SecureStoreServiceApplicationProxy.GetChannel(Uri address)     at Microsoft.Office.SecureStoreService.Server.SecureStoreServiceApplicationProxy.Execute[T](String operationName,
    Boolean validateCanary, ExecuteDelegate`1 operation).
Initially I was fighting a firewall issue because it wasn't working (different errors) on both sides. Had Network Engineers open firewall ports needed and now it works on the publishing side. Still the same error on the Anon side. I suspect I have missed
something when it comes to configuring the Secure Store to allow access to anonymous connections.
Let me know if you need any more information but that should paint a pretty good picture as to how things are set up.
Thanks for any help on this one. Searches haven't found much that has helped so far.

    Hi Sennister,
I recommend to verify the things below:
Did this issue occur with all the pages in the anonymous side?
Check if the Claims to Windows Token Service is started.
Change the <identity impersonate="true" /> in the web.config to see if the issue still occurs.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Configtool Secure Store JDBC password - Error while connecting to DB

    Hi All
I was following the note 701654 which asked to update the config tool secure store pssword. I changed the JDBC password too instead admin password alone. Now the problem is the config tool is not able to connect to the database and this lead to the jcontrol.exe to be stopped. We tried to give back the DB password we remembered unfortunately none of them worked. Please guide me to get around this.
Should I need to change the DB password if so please let me know the procedure and the places I need to do the change.
    Thanks, Raj

The problem was fixed. I changed the DB password directly in the SQL server and updated it in the secure store and it worked.
Note 997510 gave a good idea on the error and the solutions.
    Thanks, Raj

  • RDBMS Security Store ?

    Hi guys,
I read the doc but it's not clearly explained so I got stuck how to implement the RDBMS Security Store and authenticate and authorize the users againts the RDBMS.
I installed WebLogic 11g (10.3.1.0), declaring RDBMS Security Store in installation step, then created tables using the script rdbms_security_store_oracle.sql found under the /Oracle/Middleware/wlserver10.3/server/lib. So far so good, but I couldn't figure out the next steps. Many tables are created by the script. I don't know what table to use for the authentication purpose. Furthermore, I couldn't figure it out if I need to configure an authenticator and if so, what authenticator should I use? If I need a SQLAuthenticator, on the common Provide Specific page, what tables should I use?
    Thanks,

  • Scatter Charts and Reporting Service Configuration ran into error

    Dear MS Support,
i'm newbie in sharepoint, especially in sharepoint 2013. i'm interest in MS BI and collaboration with sp2013.
but  after i install the sp2013 and add file excel using excel 2013, and has scatter chart inside the file, the file doesnt want to shown up. first, i read the error is about the reporting service that need to be check and configure, but after i follow
the step that i have got on internet, the error wont go away, and still appear.
here is the installation taht i've made, please check if i had miss or set the configuration wrong.
    http://www.4shared.com/office/FInvHzEC/Instalasi__Autosaved__docx.html
and here the error and the capture when i try to re config the reporting service.
    and
so please help me to solved this issue.
    thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Bambang

    Hi,
You need to choose to either use Excel services or Excel Web Apps they both have advantages. To suppress opening the file in Excel webApps use the following PowerShell cmdlet, this will resolve the error
    New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting –Extension “XLSX” -Action “view”
    New-SPWOPISuppressionSetting –Extension “XLS” -Action “view”
This will allow Excel services to be used to view the files or your installed Desktop Client used to edit them..
Excel Web App and Excel Services in SharePoint have a lot in common, but they are not the same. Excel Services is available only in the Enterprise edition of SharePoint Server 2013. Excel Web App is available in SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Foundation
2013. Both applications enable you to view workbooks in a browser window, and both enable you to interact with and explore data.
But there are certain differences between Excel Web App and Excel Services in SharePoint. For example, Excel Services supports external data connections, data models, and the ability to interact with items that use data models (such as PivotChart reports,
PivotTable reports and timeline controls). Excel Services provides more business intelligence functionality than Excel Web App, but Excel Services does not enable users to create or edit workbooks in a browser window.
    Reference:
For details about the differences between the Excel Web App and Excel Services, see
Overview of Excel Services in SharePoint Server 2013 and

  • Kerberos authentication for Excel Services

    Hi,
I am configuring Keberos for Excel Service Application and facing some issue. Things i have done so far:
Configured web application to use Kerberos: Verified it from server authentication logs, klist and net mon that web application is using kerberos.
    Excel service Account: domain\ExcelSVA
    SQL server service account: domain\SQLSERV
    C2WTS account : domain\C2wts
set spn on in using setspn - s sp/excelservices domain\ExcelSVA and delegated constarined authentication to domain\SQLSERV
    then setspn - s sp/c2wts domain\C2wts and delegated constrained authentication to domain\SQLSERV.
C2WS account has impersonate identity ,logon as service and act as part of OS rights in app servers where excel and c2wt are running
Now when i try to refresh data i get error :The data connection uses Windows Authentication and user credentials could not be delegated.
The following connections failed to refresh: SQLServername port, databasename
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff487975.aspx
First 3 errors don't apply to me since i cant see these errors in SP log files and my sharepoint and database servers are in same domain.
For UPN, there is a email id assoisated with account that i am using and i have been using that email id to logon to other services in my company so UPN should be done too.
The Excel Services service account must have Active Directory permissions to query the object. Now this got me confusing. Where do i actually
give this? In sql server or AD? Which object does it need to query? The excel database in sql server. If it is so, then the permission needs to be granted on sql .
    Also this link http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/99a3cf4f-dabc-4ac9-9ea8-afa677199ffa/kerberos-and-excel-services?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious
Microsoft solution described here is weired. I don't think sql server has c2wts or excel service application started on it. And from drop down list that is i don't know what is the solution talking of.
Does any one have any idea if i am missing any delegation or any step?

  • Unable to Create Secure Store

    Hi
We are having an issue installaing Netweaver 7.0 (JAVA=ABAP).
We are trying to build thsi from a media that is two years old just to add one more system to satisy our testing needs. All the GTS systems are running on AIX 5L and Oracle 10.2.
During the installation of Netweaver I ran into an issue during the "Create Secure Store" phase of the installation, and I could not find much help to resolve this issue.
The sapinst.log refers to the SecureStoreCreate.log both of which are attached to this message.
The SecureStoreCreate.log indicates that teh process is "unable to create a secure store" and that the "Jurisdiction policy files are not signed by trusted signers!"
After some research I found that this issue may be related to the OLD JCE Policy file from the original media, that was being used in the current installation.
I replaced the original policy file "unrestricted.zip" under /temp/JCE with the new file downloaded from http://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/jcesdk/jcesdk-p, with /temp/JCE being the location specified during instllation. Teh installation was stopped and re-started.
The above has not resolved the error. If this error is related to the JCE policy file, I am guessing it has to be copied to some other  location in order to continue with the  installation, since we are already past the Create DB and Import ABAp phase.
If this error is not related to JCE policy file, I have no clue. Any suggestions ?
    Thanks
