Can anyone suggest a way to allow my kids to use Safari but protect them from inappropriate websites? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry I gave you information for Tiger. Just realizing you are using Panther (I'll know better next time when traveling than to answer a post from an Internet Machine at the Airport).
Tiger has more sophisticated Parental Controls than Panther. The next version of OS X ought to continue this evolution.
In Panther, the panel in the Accounts system preferences would say "limitations". I don't recall exactly what you can or cannot do, but at least that is where you would start.

Hi, I'm considering upgrading my phone to the BlackBerry Curve 8900, and am concerned about my teenage son getting a hold of my device and Surfing the Internet with it.
I read the Blackberry on-line manual for this phone and apparently I can only lock the entire phone using or not using a password.
I can also lock the keyboard, but there is no mention of what I am interested in doing.
Does someone have any additional knowledge regarding this subject?
Also, could someone clarify which keys get locked ... the Letter Keys or the Number Keys ?

you can lock the device. Meaning no one can use it except if you know the password. Be aware that someone who would grab your device, and try to input a password, and do that 10 times, will erase everything that is on your device forever.
when you configure the device lock, the password can contain letters, symbols and numbers.
when you configure the device lock, you do allow people to call 911 with your device.

Just wondering what good Apple product is out there for Internet protection, I have my son he is 6 and worried he can easily access unsuitable sites by just using words like "sexy" or "hot". Also any other sites with unsuitable materials. If there is any products specific for my MacBook Pro laptop with Mac oS X (10.4.11), he uses my laptop and i really dont want to deprive him of learning about the technology but also dont want unfit stuff to be easily accesed. I would really appreciate where i can get it and how it works. Many Thanks

Is there any security software for the iPhone that protects when you're surfing the net, just like security software for MacBooks, iMacs, and also the iPad??
All the security apps I can find relate to the ipHone on a local level and not when connected to the internet via wi-fi.

My standard spiel on malware:
At this time there have been no confirmed Mac OS X viruses (subject to the semantic debate about whether the old iChat exploit, now long since blocked, was properly classified as a virus or a trojan horse, and not counting the Word macro virus that can affect Office v.X or non-updated copies of Office 2004), very few trojans and no adware or spyware. I therefore do not feel that antivirus or antispyware software is necessary at this time as long as users are careful about what they download from the Internet or accept as attachments via email.
The most common exploit is a recent outbreak of "scareware" that people are encountering while web surfing. This "scareware" pops up and claims that your system is infected with viruses, prompts you to download their "scanner", then tells you that you need to purchase their paid software to remove them. These fake applications, appearing by many names including Mac Defender, Apple Security Center, Apple Web Security, and many others, do nothing at all other than turn off the fake warnings once they have your money. DO NOT fall for these.
Security precautions for Mac OS X mostly are common sense: don't download and run files from sites you don't know, don't fall for any "you have viruses" messages, don't double-click on attachments in emails you aren't expecting and/or from people you don't know, and make sure you password your system with a non-trivial password and keep that password secure. In addition, don't leave your system available in a public place and unattended where someone unauthorized could use it and potentially install malware (such a policy is also a precaution against theft).
It is possible for a Mac user to inadvertently forward a Windows virus to a PC user though you'd have to do it manually so the above precautions would probably prevent such virus-spreading, and said Windows virus cannot infect the Mac.
If you do decide you wish to run antivirus software, I think that the donationware clamXav should be more than enough. iAntivirus has also been recommended by others, though I have no personal experience with it.
If you are running Windows on your system, either via BootCamp, Parallels Workstation or another solution, then that copy of Windows is subject to all the myriad exploits common to the Windows world, so you need to take full precautions, including running both antivirus and antispyware software.

If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

On a Mac running v10.7.2, the only way to reinstall Safari is to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery.
Safari 5.1.1 is for Snow Leopard. It will not run on a Mac with v10.7 installed.

What is making it think that you own money for an app upgrade?

When I go to a website requiring login, and am logged in automatically, I still get prompted by Software Security Defice for master password. New w/Firefox 24.

If I go to a website that requires a login & password, and I have it set up to automatically log me in, I get automatically logged in (it remembers by userid & password for that site), but the prompt from the Software Security Device for my master password appears as well. I can cancel the prompt and it goes away, but it shouldn't show up because I'm already logged in. This problem started happening after I downloaded Firefox 24 yesterday.

I no longer have the old email and can't use it. when I go to icloud on my ipad it asks for the password for old email. it doesn't allow me to change the old email to current. when i go to reset it i can't remember the password or security questions for the old email so it doesn't let me go any further. How do I fix this? Do i need to call apple support?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

How to Define Workbook / Business Ares Security Correctly for new Users

Hi All,
Please could you help me understand the Security Model for Workbooks and business Areas as I believe I am very close to understanding it, but missing something important.
Background Information:
We are using the predefined Oracle Business Areas (Payables, Receivables, Purchasing & General Ledger) to build our reports on. These are the steps I am taking to try and assign a new user & responsibility access to the existing report.
1. I create the Report in Discoverer Desktop under the General Ledger Responsibility logged in as myself assume report name = Report_1.
2. I create a new Responsibility in Oracle Apps called Discoverer Resource Coordinators.
3. I create a new User in Oracle Apps called Joe Bloggs and assign the responsibility Discoverer Resource Coordinators to the Joe.
4. Logged in as myself in Discoverer Desktop, Responsibility General Ledger I Share the Report (Report_1) to the new Responsibility I just created Discoverer Resource Coordinators.
5. In Discoverer Administration, Security, I assign the new Responsibility Discoverer Resource Coordinators to the predefined Oracle Business Areas (Payables, Receivables, Purchasing & General Ledger).
6. In Discoverer Administration I set privileges so that the Responsibility Discoverer Resource Coordinators can do all tasks, query data, administer. .etc. etc..
7. I therefore believe everything has been done and attempt to Login and run the report under Joe Bloggs, but am unable to retrieve any data.
Help what am I missing!

This has now been adjusted according to your recommendations but to no avail.
Myself and Lance have ensured that this new responsibility has unlimited access to all the existing Business areas to eliminate joins within folders not being recognised, we have also ensured that the workbooks that have been created are shared with the correct responsibility.
I have thoroughly tested this set up by logging in as this new responsibility within Disco. Client to try and retrieve data in a new Workbook, but even for the simplest of queries this fails.
It seems that there may be a problem with the Responsibility linking to the EUL, could this be due to the new responsibility being created after the Current EUL was set up?
Does anyone have any information or knowledge where this could happen?
