Banking and brokerage accounts take a long time to download, even those that have been visited before

Hello Billyeee,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.
I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Symptom: The Wi-Fi network seems slow" in the following article to resolve an issue like the one you described:

  • My pages are taking very very long time to load??

any page i try and go to takes forever and a day to connect and load. I don't have multiple tabs open. i am working on a laptop but this problem only started a two days ago.

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions and remove the '''Freeze(dot)com NetAssistant '''you have installed. This is adware/spyware and will cause performance problems of the type you're experiencing.
In the same menu, remove the '''Ask Toolbar '''for similar reasons.
    Next:<br><br>
#In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove http://search.conduit.com/ResultsExt.... and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=<br><br>
    #Close the tab.<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
Conduit is another adware search tool which concentrates on its database of advertisers rather than giving you independent results like google does.
You also need to remove all your old Java consoles. These are security risks which expose your machine to exploits. See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
'''N.B.''' When you install 'free' programs, '''always use the option called Custom installation and uncheck any options to use junk software search engines, toolbars etc.''', otherwise you'll be plagued by system slowdowns forever more. See screenshot for an example of how the Ask Toolbar gets on your system.

  • Inventory aged reports are taking a very long time to run

We are using Standard delievered extractors for Inventory.  We have build an Aged report and it is taking a very long time to run as more an more data is added.  We put the inventory in buckets 0-30, 31-60, .... >365 days.  We are aging based on a batch date the user enters.  the problem is it has to go through every record to recalculate because they are non cumulative.
any ideas/suggestions on how to make this more efficient?  New design?

    Hi MM,
We can use snapshot of monthly data from Query and store it in DSO at month level.
We had used APD on Query and then Stored them in DSO1(WO)->DSO2(STD)->Cube->report based on Snap Shot.
From the New Query , calculate the Age.

  • Downloads of zip and other files are taking a very long time.

Prior to this week, downloads of zip files and other types of files were pretty fast; however, downloads are suddenly taking a very long time (i.e. 30 minutes to download an album's worth of music files). It's possible that I may have deleted something that was necessary to download files quickly, but I'm not sure. Can anyone provide suggestions on how to get my download groove back? Thanks!

    Hi beaubeck,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Resetting the modem/router and trying with an ethernet cable (wired) vs. wireless would be two good troubleshooting steps.  More details are included in the article below:

  • Messages are taking a very long time to send.

Hello, I'm currently having a big problem with messages taking a very long time to actually send. The spinning wheel will stay there for hours. It only happens in one or two skype groups at a time where I can send messages normally in other groups. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

I have been having this problem for the last 4 releases. I have had some take up to 8 hours to send before. I can usually fix it by signing out then restarting skype. Just restarting skype doesn't work, nor does just signing in again.

  • Web pages taking a very long time to load; nothing wrong with my internet connection.

I've contacted my ISP and they've told me there is nothing wrong on their end and that my modem is running perfectly. I've done a speed test and my upload is 33mbps+ and download is 5.5mbps+.
The problem is, it takes webpages a very long time to load. Sometimes longer than others, but sometimes it's so long I give up. There doesn't seem to be a difference between when I type in a URL or an IP address directly into the address bar.
One night last week I completely lost the ability to connect to any webpages, and then when I woke up in the morning I was having these problems with connection speed, and the problem has persisted for several days.

  • Firefox is taking a very long time to load any web site. It used to be extremely fasta and stable. Is there a current problem? I have the most recent updates installed.

As of the last week, I have not experienced the usual rapid download to signing in to Yahoo, and once there, other sites are experiencing the same lag time. I have to wait till Firefox catches up with the download speed on the web. I am NOT experiencing this with Internet Explorer. I much prefer to use Mozilla, but don't understand why this is happening. Are there any issues that are being worked on from your end? There are NO changes to my computer (Windows 7), except recent updates from Mozilla.

  • Certain sites are only displaying as long rows of s - how can this be fixed?

Quite a few sites or parts of a site - i.e. the captcha on tinypic.com - are only displaying as very one very long, horizontally scrolling row of question marks in black diamonds (). These sites load perfectly in Safari on my laptop, or on Firefox on my Windows desktop. There are no error messages displayed.

How much data is being backed-up from each Mac?  (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room.  Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't.  Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).
Also see #C4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting for more details.

  • HT3275 Time Machine Indexing Backup has been taking an extremely long time following a Single User launch. How can I fix this?

My MacBook Pro has not been launching properly and in addition has suddenly gone to a blue or white screen countless times. I am preparing to take it to the apple store but first I need to back it up as I have not done so since two weeks ago. In order to make it start properly, I launched the computer in Single User Mode, then ran time machine. It has been about 15 hours and time machine still says that it is indexing the backup. How can this be fixed? Surely it shouldn't take this long. Thanks in advance.

If you are having an extended index period during a Time Machine backup, you may find the following article helpful:

  • I have the sort of old macBook that is black and lately it has been taking a really long time to load things and to pull applications up? does anyone have suggestions of things i can do to see if they will work?

make coputer is being really slow how do i fix it????????

First try a utility like YASU or Cocktail to clean up caches and logs as well as basic disk maintenance.
Also here is a link to a excellent tip sheet from participant ds store which can help you understand the complete process.

  • Quicktimes taking very long time to load-Big Q appears instead.

When posting ipod (small) quicktimes to my .mac account (4 per page), the site is taking a really long time to load-a large Q appears instead of the usual Quicktime video frame for a few minutes. They eventually load, but it takes a long time. I've used this program and these files for a year without incident, and now there is this huge delay for my clients. The files aren't very big 2MB-20MB.
Maybe it's my Safari or Firefox acting up?
Here's the site if anyone is able to have a quick look and tell me if it loads quickly on their machine:
    http://web.mac.com/chopperfilms/iWeb/Steve%20Gaskin/Projects%201.html
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

To wait for 27MB to load is too big or rather long wait for your audience/visitor. Set poster frames for all and use movie ref to load only the one the visitor chooses so they don't get the letter 'Q' and use 'fast start' so loading long or big files feels like less waiting. Were poster frames and movie refs getting done automatically by iWeb before?
I am actually getting the letter 'Q' with a question mark in it 60/40 percent of the time in a QuickTime I posted which I am trying to figure how to get rid of.

  • Calculations on new server is taking a very long time

    Hello,
We are upgrading from a 9.2 to 9.3 system. The 9.3 system is on completely different servers than the 9.2 system. We have migrated a couple of applications and the calcs on the 9.3 system are taking a very long time. For instance a calc that we ran on the 9.2 system that used to take 1 hour now takes 7. Also, on a different application a calc that used to take 15 minutes now takes an hour. The applications that we put on 9.3 are identical to the application on 9.2 (we used the migration utility). Additionally, I have ensured that the essbase.cfg files have the same cache settings. What else can we do to get the performance on the 9.3 system to be equal to if not better than the 9.2 system?
    I appreciate any help.

I would recommend that you run perfmon.exe (if using Windows) to look at the CPU and Disk I/O utilization.
On a well tuned system, you will see a "toggling" of max CPU and max I/O as each keeps the other busy and takes relatively small breaks in activity.
My suspicion is that the I/O is the bottleneck on the new system, maybe it's using an external array that is shared, perhaps? If this is the case, the CPU utilization will be relatively low and the I/O will be relatively high (if you are familiar with the concept of duty cycle, the I/O duty cycle will be well more than 50% if it's the bottleneck, much less than 50% if the CPU is the bottleneck, and about even if they are well balanced).
The other major possibility (aside from weak disk configurations) are that a raid drive is in fault mode and the controller is rebuilding the set. The other possibilities are more like fringe cases compared to these two.

  • Muse site taking long time to load

Hello, I've posted (or rather tried to post) this question three times so I apologize if this is in tryplicate.
My site is pretty simple but with a lot of images and it is taking a long time to load. I'm wondering if I reduce the image size and thumbnail size if this will help.  Any advice - most appreciated.
    site is here: www.refinedanduncommon.businesscatalyst.com
I hope this is actually getting to the forum this time.
    Thanks,
    L

As Kitcarhas said, you can Optimize the images by selecting them in the assets menu and right click on that element in the list!
    Best of luck,
