Secure Website promblems  with Local accounts

I have been experiencing the following:
Login to a local account on 10.5.6 machine.
Open webbrower.
When I attempt to enter a secure page from the launched site, I get a can not find server message...example we are doing a 5-8 reading assessment online. I can go to the companies website fine, but when I attempt to go to the link for the test (https) site I can not. any suggestions....

Parental controls in managed preferences is the culprit. It blocks websites based on content, and with HTTPS it can't see inside because it's encrypted, so it blocks it. I have had this issue as well. Apple says to simply allow the domain (ie https://live.com) but this solution works intermittently for me. I'm still waiting for a work around that works consistently.

  • Consolidation with  local Account

    Hi
I have a question about the consolidation with local accounts, we have subsidiaries in Latinoamerica in countries like chile, peru, colombia, and our users in this countries want to prepare financial statements but with local account and then send to corporative en Mexico.
I heard that in version 6.0 SEM BCS there is a part called "consolidation functions for local Accounts"
Can anybody help me with this???
I need because we are planning buy the version 6.0 SEM BCS and I think will be very helpful for me.

If you want to do more detailed analysis of local financial of these countires then keep the data in ODS. . Whatever the financial report you need for these countires take it by report from ODS.
But from BCS cubes you can take another consolidated report by group account. Any report you run from BCS cube can address all consolidated functions such as Interunit elimination, current translation , etc.
Web BCS monitor is like enabling the UCMON on web. All BCS functions can be seen in web.

  • I get an error message when opening a secure website from a managed account

I get an error message that says that safari can't open a specific website, because it can't establish a secure connection. This is happening on a managed account with parental controls. It seems to only happen for secure sites. How can I fix this?

    Hey daaveed,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If this is happening to one or all websites you visit, check out the following article that will go over some steps to fix it.
Mac OS: "Unable to establish a secure connection" or "can't verify identity" messages in Web browsers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20405
Be sure that your Date & Time control panel settings are correct.
    Try a different Web browser.
Download the latest versions of your Web browsers.
If you still cannot make a secure connection, notify the contact listed on the affected Web site.

  • Secure External LDAP with local user provisioning in a org.

    To all:
I'm working with 05Q1 or as some say v3. I was able to successfully set up user authentication with external ldap and dynamic creation of users with in local org and ldap and map over attributes for storage into local ldap. Now I need to try and make it a secure external ldap authentication. Without disturbing any of the other orgs with in the local system.
Is it possible without turning on security for all? Where would the certs be stored for the secure external LDAP that I am authenticating against?
    Help would be appreciated.
If anyone is trying to do the same thing let me know if your having trouble. I sure did, just getting to the point that I am right now.
    Thanks,

  • How do I stop the "attempted to access these secure websites" popup with parental controls enabled?

This makes parental controls almost unusable.  Nearly every website tries to access numerous other domains that are not in my whitelist.  Is there any way to just stop all prompts to add items to the whitelist?  It could remain static and just block everything and I'd be happy (kind of thought that was the purpose of parental controls and whitelisting to begin with).  Young kids have no idea what to do with these windows popping up.
    Thanks!

I imagine it would prompt for an admin account and then if I authenticated it would be added to the white list and that specific site would then receive requests (e.g. not prompt again); however...
    a) that would only stop prompting for that specific site and this issue would recur with each request to a new domain that occurs down the line
    b) the point of parental controls is that I want to allow my child relatively unsupervised access to the system, that would require I be in the vicinity to authenticate and add each new request
    c) there are likely domains that I would NOT want whitelisted just due to some background request (ad networks, large domains that may otherwise serve up inappropriate content, etc...).
I think I get where you are coming from (and not trying to shoot the messenger here) I just think that teaching them to agree to the message would not be a good solution.  This seems to be a pretty big gap in Apple's implementation and apparantly can only be addressed by them.
    Thank you!

  • If I have more than one secure website open with different windows, is the information I provide on one website secure from the other websites?

The question really says it all. For some purposes, it would be helpful to have more than one password protected website open at the same time so I can go back and forth between them. However, I don't want to risk my passwords and other information being available in the process.
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, they are secure from each other.

  • SSO for application systems with local users?

Hi all,  I'm new to Oracle Identity Management.  My company is going to implement SSO for inhouse applications.  However, some applications have their own local users (e.g. admin, guest, etc.) who have to login to the application system through the same interface.  We put all organization users in an Oracle enterprise Directory server, which is the authentication backend of the Access Manager.   After implementing webgate, such local users can't get authenticated.  I'd like to know if it's possible to configure particular users/applications to bypass SSO and use local authentication?     Thanks.
    Rgds
    /ST wong

Possible solution is to create a new entry point for local users. Create two proxies one for actual user entry and another for local user. You can restrict n/w access to proxy with local login so that only few hosts based on your requirement who needs to access system with local accounts. This way you will have two web sites for single application.

  • Local account credentials and licensing

Hello, we have a Windows 2008 R2 server used for terminal services.
The server is configured and is working fine.
All domain users can login without issues.
If we login with a domain administrator account, this server successfully contacts the license server and validates.
However, we have the server locked with a local administrator account, as there is an application that runs in the background.
Because of this, we are encountering the error: "The Remote Desktop Session Host Server Configuration tool is running with local account credentials. In Licensing Diagnosis, the Total Number of licenses Available value may be inaccurate." It gives
the warning that we have a number of days before the remote services is disabled.
Obviously we don't want this to happen.
My questions is if this will actually be disabled, even though we have validated with the license server before with a domain account?
Do we have to have server locked with a domain account to get rid of this error?
    Many Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yes, to get rid from this error and for better result you must always attach License server with Domain account. Means you need to join the server to a domain. Because the error which you are facing is due to “Issue with Credential” as License server
can’t identify the local user account credentials. In your case, you need to lock server with domain account.

  • Accessing network shares in an exiting workgroup from / to win10 with MS account (currently 10049)

This is a migration test. Here is a larger network containing
    - RTOS-something video recorder
    - XP machines regular and POS
    - NAS running some Linux variants
    - Win7 machines
    - Win8.X machines
    - firewall/dhcp.
They form a workgroup with a number of public shares and some protected shares. This Win10 PC (10049) with a Microsoft account can't access them and doesn't show computers in the workgroup. Other Win10 machines (10041) with local accounts can. I can ping
all devices and where http is available, that works too. This PC sometimes complains about a conflict between 'his' workgroup and the existing one.
Inspected HKLM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Lanman* , /NetBIOS, /NetBT and I believe the values stored could be OK.
All relevant services have been started. This PC is a member of the workgroup.
Only problem found: DcpSvc returns error 1813 but I think this is only a display problem of services.msc not finding a valid description.
How can I enable this machine (with the ms account) to interact with the workgroup's resources?

    Hi defuser.defuser,
If you disassociate the Microsoft Account, can you see other computers in your workgroup?
You can check if you turn on the network discovery setting under your profile:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings

  • HT1937 security questions to unlock my account on new computer

I want my account unlocked!   I have signed on with a legit account name AND password .  How do I remove the FORGOTTEN security questions associated with MY account.  At some point YOUR encryption layers are redundant.

try to see if you can change your security questions. Change your country if necessary and go tomanage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express line(select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

  • Local accounts and active directory

I'm reposting this from the Tiger forums. I suspect that is more user-oriented and this question isn't. Apologies if this is the wrong place for it.
I've been working on getting the Macs where I work bound to Active Directory and I'm not clear on how local accounts are (or are not) affected by it.
I bound one of our Macs to AD and tested it out. It let me log in with Windows NT accounts. Cool. It gave me single sign-on access to network shares. Cool.
As a test, I had created a local account that had the same login and password as a network account, but I noticed after signing in, that the account didn't behave like a network account (i.e., no single sign-on access.) So, it appears that if a local account has the same login as a network account, the machine treats it fully as a local account. Sound reasonable.
    But... here's the twist.
Where I work, we have about 15-20 Macs, none have ever been bound to AD, all running with local accounts. (The previous Mac tech didn't know how to do this which is why it's set up that way.) I was hoping that I could change the local accounts to match the network accounts, but obviously that's not going to work. If a local machine account won't behave like a network account, how do I go about setting up the current Macs as AD machines without forcing the users to recreate their whole set up under a whole new login? Is there a way to do it?

    Rick,
OS X always checks local Netinfo directory first and if user is not found in netinfo it will check other directories based on order specified in Directory Access.
Here are the steps to follow to bind you macs to AD and still keep existing user home folders:
    - bound machine to AD
    - rename existing local-user home folder
    - delete existing local-user (since you renamed his home folder no data will be lost)
    - login AD account to cache his AD credential; this will create a new default home folder
    - delete newly created home folder and rename original home folder based on AD shortname
    - change ownership of this home folder to reflect AD account (use chown, see man page on how to use it)

  • "There is a problem with your account..." when opening online OneNote file within local OneNote app

    Hi,
We have a tenancy DirSync connection a small number of staff so that they can have access to SharePoint, Visio and OneNote Online. When one such user logs onto the http://[groupsite].sharepoint.com site on his Windows 7 PC with Office 2013 installed,
he can access the site successfully. He might then open a OneNote file online. However, if he was to then click the "Open In OneNote" button from the toolbar, and clicked "Yes" to the Microsoft OneNote Security Notice:
"Microsoft Office has identified a potential security concern. This location may be unsafe".
... and then sign in with the same account to this box
... and then enters his correct credentials into the next "Sign In" window, it returns with the following message:
"There is a problem with your account. Please try again later".
Finally, the following message is returned within the MS OneNote app:
"We couldn't open that location. It might not exist or you might not have permission to open it. Please contact the owner of onenote:https://[groupsite].sharepoint.com/sites/....one#SharePoint Team Site for more information."
The user has reinstalled MS OneNote 2013 on the PC with no change. We have also removed all cached credentials from within Windows Credential Manager and rebooted with no success. The user can access all web-based resources such as SharePoint, OneNote and
Visio, and he can open web-based Visio files locally on the locally-installed Visio app with no issues. This problem is specifically experienced when opening an online version of OneNote locally on a  PC that has either MS OneNote 2010 or OneNote 2013.
Any assistance that you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Thanks Maurice, for your reply.
My Windows Account is already used to log into OneNote. It is the same Windows Account used to log into, and access online, the SharePointOnline, OneNote Online, etc., services. I tried, indeed, to sign out from my account within the client-version of OneNote
but it returns the message "We can't remove Windows accounts".
Again, this is the only account that has been used with this installation of OneNote, and it is that which has been uploaded by way of DirSync to Azure. It works for online versions of OneNote items, SharePoint and Visio, and for VisioOnline-based files
that are opened within the local client-version of Visio. When trying to open the OneNote Online notebook within the local client-version of OneNote we get this issue.
I have reinstalled Office with no success.
Any help that you can provide in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Brian
