Secured document - can't edit

I created a form and saved it.  Now it won't let me edit.  It says it's a secured document.

This FAQ explains how to enable editing on the PDF:

  • Link to a document - can't edit

    Hi Folks,
We are in the midst of setting up a document center for our BPM docs. We have a few main folders with the actual documents uploaded and we have a bunch of other folders that i have created links to the documents in the main folders. here are the problems
    im having.
    1. when i click the linked document the only option i have is to download it, i can edit any other doc (not linked) in it's appropriate application just fine. is there a way to set the linked doc to edit like the doc it is linked to?
    2. the versioning of the linked doc seems to have it's own set up....i don't see the same versions on it that i do on the doc it is linked to...seems wrong.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    thanks.
    Colin Stewart

    Hi Colin,
Firstly , if you want the linked documents to open in browser, you need to set the original library and linked library to open documents in browser.
    You can do as :
    LIBRARY->Library settings->Advanced settings
on the ‘Opening Documents in the Browser’ section, select ‘Open in browser’
Then open a document, it will be opened in browser, copy the URL of the document from the web address.
Edit the related linked document properties, change its web address with the copied URL in step3
    Click Save
Repeated step 3 to step 5 for all original documents and linked documents
For the original documents and linked documents, they are different entities. The version history of the linked documents is only display the change on the linked documents. If you want to view the version history of original documents, you need to the location
    of the original documents.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

  • Cannot enter anything on new Pages document , Can open, edit  existing pages docs

    Peculiar.
New Imac 21. inch with IWork installed at Apple Store (1:1 setup). Pages worked fine for a couple of weeks
This week, open fresh document trom template chooser. clean document opens but cannot type on it
Can open existing pages document and work with it.
Can open word or applework documents, work with them and a save as pages document which is workable
It is just the fresh documents
Is the problem the template? IF so, how do I replace the template?

Thanks, VIking but I do not think I used the Template instead of WP
I went to New and cnose a Blank document in Portrait orientation.
    Cannot directly type on it
If I first insert a shape, without fill color, I can then write on the document and save it
The issue seems to be the BLANK document
Frankly,I saw this issue on my uncle's new computer, he is new to pages, mourning the loss of  Appleworks and was terribly upset when he tried to write a new document choosing Blank and found he could not write on it
He has a vanilla new iMac with nothing on it which might cause a problem
I just replicated the issue on my own Retina display MBP .
"Blank" does not allow input of direct typing.

  • How to create a PDF Dokument what i can't edit after save?

I would like to create a PDF Formular and save this - the safety document can´t edit because i will send it.

Once you have the PDF, open it in Acrobat and use ctrl-D to get the document properties and select security. The security is not perfect, but may meet your needs.

I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.
    Be well...

  • Can't open secured documents on windows 7 domain client with mandatory profiles.

While opening certain PDF files we have the problem that the user is presented with a message that he does not have the rights permissions. This happens twice, after that the users gets an empty page with the message the Adobe version might not be up to date. We use Acrobat Pro 10, but this also happens while using Reader 11.0.8. On our windows 2008 terminal services machine this could be fixed by giving the user rights on c:\ to create and remove a file. :O. On windows 7 this doesn't work probably because of UAC. But we've tried every solution to that available on the internet, disabling uac, changing uac options, changing rights on userprofile folders, changing rights on c:\ but to no avail. When using process explorer we can see it wants to create a temp file p328hkl.tmp or something like that on C but it can't and immediattely after is shows the error on screen.
Anyone who also has this problem or solved it? There are no problems with simple self made pdf files/scans but only with certain types of pdf files for which it tries to create a tmp file.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Brogers,
Thanks for your reaction. We do have AppData redirection in place. We redirect AppData to a share on our data server which works perfectly fine for all other applications. The weird thing is that Reader/Acrobat try to write to C:\ which to my knowledge should not happen, is this maybe a fallback because it can’t write to a different location? Users have full control on their own roaming AppData but not on their local AppData that is made by windows itself while copying the mandatory default profile to C:\.
I might use the wrong term while saying secured documents. I’m talking about a document created by Raet/Youforce a web application for personal administration. The documents can be opened by other viewers than Acrobat/Reader but then only contain the background and not the text. In Acrobat/Reader they do open normally when Acrobat/Reader can create the .tmp file. Otherwise it will not display the file at all. I would attach such a document to see but since it contains certain info I am not allowed to do so.
I hope we can work out a solution for this.

I am working with Acrobat XI and when I try to add text to a geopdf file I get a popup screen that says this is a secured document and editing is not permitted. How do I fix this?

I figured it out...needed to use comment tool set, not the editing tool set.

  • If I receive a document as a PDF or WORD Doc in an email, can I edit them.  As in, if the doc is a template, how do I open it and fill the template in?

Can I edit a document that was sent to me, like a template?  I cant seem to figure out how to do this, I am a new MAC user

If you look in App Store you will find Apple's own Pages which can read, edit, and export Microsoft Word compatible .DOC or .DOCX files. There is also another interation of the previously mentioned OpenOffice which is NeoOffice, NeoOffice uses the same open source kernel as OpenOffice, but wraps it in a Cocoa wrapper which provides access to virtually all of OS X's file and data managment features and is one of the fastest office suites avaiable for the Mac.

  • InDesign CS3 - Created ToC, now can't edit the rest of the document

I have a small document -- about 56 A5 pages, no graphics or placed files, just styled text with tables -- in which I created two new pages after the title page and created a Table of Contents for insertion in them.
I applied a new Object Style to the ToC text frames to drop them to two columns -- the rest of the document is in one column.
Now I can't access any of the document for text editing except the Table of Contents. I can select any of the text frames with the selection tools, but as soon as I go to the text tool the cursor jumps to the end of the ToC. If I try to edit it in Story Mode, only the ToC text displays.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get at the rest of my document for editing? I haven't experienced this behaviour before at all.

OK, I found out what was going on.
When I inserted the ToC, it overflowed the two pages I had alloted for it before I reset its text frames to 2 columns. As a result, it created a bunch of extra text frames on top of the existing copy.
When I reconfigured the ToC text styles to fit its two pages, those text frames were left behind, but invisible -- whenever I tried to edit text on those pages, I was actually inserting the text cursor into these invisible text frames. Once those extra frames were deleted, I could get at the underlying frames directly again.
I worked this out when I discovered that I could get the cursor into text on later pages and then page-up into the pages that had been overlaid.
I haven't yet found any way of seeing what objects are on a given page apart from just looking at it, so I don't really know how to avoid this issue in future.

    Hi Michelle ,
We are extremely sorry that you have had a bad experience with Adobe .
As far as your issue is concerned ,Acrobat generally prompts for internet connection as it is required to activate the product before you could use it comfortably .Once the product is activated or licensed you would be able to use the software offline .
This could be the possible reason you are experiencing this .Please check if you have done so and still facing this .And if you have not ,you need to license/activate your product by typing in your credentials ,i.e Adobe ID and password .
You could also refer the following link to get updated about the activation of your product .

How can I send scanned files, which are documents changed from doc to PDF, as documents that can be edited if the recipient doesn't have Adobe capabilities?

    Hi flaviusjack,
If you still have the .doc files, it might be best to send those to your recipients so they can be edited. Otherwise, you can use ExportPDF to convert the PDF files back to .doc format. But, again, that step would be unnecessary if you have the .doc files.

  • Can you edit a pdf document without exporting it into a word document?

Can you edit a pdf document without exporting it into a word document?

    Hi sylvias99766822,
You can if you have Acrobat. If you don't, feel free to give it a try. You can download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
Keep in mind, though, that Acrobat isn't intended to be a word processor. So, while you can make adjustments to text and graphics, if you need to do a major overhaul of the text in the document, it's best to go back to the source document and edit the content there.
    Best,
    Sara
