Secured PDF editable on iPad?

We have agents that use iPads to view some of the material we create at our home office.  We secure the PDF, allowing no changes, yet we are hearing reports that these agents are able to still edit the PDFs when using their iPad.  I'm unable to recreate this on my computer.  Has anyone heard of this bug?

Thanks George, you have guessed it rightly. Adobe Reader  v. 10.1.0 for iPad does not edit  any type of pdf ( Secured or Non-Secured) .  You may like to report this as a bug for that PDF Viewer, if possible share the pdf with us so that we can have a look and investigate.

How can i view a secure pdf on an ipad?

The Adobe Reader for iPad supports viewing of encrypted and LCRM protected PDF's. There are several other "secure" or "protection" schemes created by third parties, and we don't have the ability to open those documents. Have you tried your secure PDF in the Adobe Reader (available for free in the App Store).

  • HT2506 See Preview PDF edits on iPad

I love Preview.  Use it all of the time.  Catch for me now is that I cannot see the edits made on various apps on iPad.  It's like they are not there.  What do others do for this?
Just yesterday (4/7/13) I added an annotation to a pdf in Preview, uploaded to Dropbox, and then opened on the iPad.  I could see the edits in Dropbox, but I don't like the page turning in that app so I tried opening in a few other readers such as iBooks, Kindle, Docs to Go and PDF Splicer.  None of them showed me the annotations I made.  Is this a result of Sandboxing?  What other app might someone recommend, and what is an effective and low cost app for adding notes on pdf on iPad.  I use the iPad for teaching notes and other things and just need to quick add my own comments in a text box sometimes.
    Thanks for any thoughts!

  • How can I unlock a secure pdf on my ipad?

I am trying to unlock a book for school that I have the ebook copy too, I can do it just fine on my laptop but when I open it up in the app (acrobat dc) for ipad it won't let me fill in the password, therefore I cant see the book? Am I doing something wrong or can this not be done in the app?

    Hi vivianag60699495,
I replicated the issue at my end, I opened a password protected PDF file in Acrobat DC app on my iPad, it did ask for the password & I was able to successfully gain access to the PDF file.
Recently there has been an update in the iOS version, please update your iPad to iOS 8 & then try to open the e-book in Acrobat DC app.
Let me know if it works for you. In case if you still need any help please let us know, we will be more than happy to help you.

  • How to edit text in a PDF on an iPad

Away from my iMac, I am trying to edit text on a contract PDF on my iPad. Have not been able to do so in any app I've found. Any suggestions?

PDFs are not meant to be edited (except minor edits such as adding a word or changing spelling).
Adding paragraphs and such is not accomplished very easily, even with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
If you want to change something, change the original docuemnt then print it to PDF.

  • How do you make a secure pdf form editable?

How do you make a secure pdf file editable?

The best way is to apply a digital signature to the file. Any other way can
    be manipulated quite easily.

  • How to create a secure & non editable PDF? So that it cannot be modified by any of the secondary too

How to create a secure & non editable PDF? So that it cannot be modified by any of the secondary tools available online for security breaks and editing of PDF document
I put all the security options but still there are tools to break the security (even password) leading to editing of document
Need to avoid any such situation

If the document is important, and there is something to be gained by modifying it - then someone will just make a new copy of it (e.g. print and scan, screen capture), and make a new document, then change it.
If protecting the integrity of the document - proving it is unchanged - is the thing, look at digital signatures. Forget security, the signed file can be freely edited, but the signature will always show it is changed.

  • PDF edits with Mac OS X Lion Aperçu don't show up on iPad: anyone with this issue?

I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Lion, and an iPad 2 with iOS 5. If I edit PDF files with Aperçu, the drawings or texts I have added do not display on the iPad 2. Is this a known Apple bug? Does anyone else have this problem?

Actually, it is in iBooks that I have this problem with PDF files that have been edited with Aperçu. With iPad Safari, the PDF edits are displayed correctly, through Google docs PDF viewer; I have not tried with iPad Safari independantly from Google docs, but I think it won't work. It does not work in iPad mail for such edited PDF files that are attached to a message.

  • Digital Editions will NOT open secured PDF

My PDF is secured with a permissions password, but does not require a password to open.  But when I drag it into the ADE window, the dialogue box says "This version of Digital Editions does not support password-protected documents."  I have ADE 1.7.2 on Windows 7 HP.  Is there a way to open my secured PDF with ADE?

I have the exact same problem. When will Adobe fix this limitation?

  • Which is Adobe product to be used for developing iPAD(IOS) applications that support PDF edit on the

    Question:
We would like to know if LiveCycle ES 8.0 supports development of applications for IOS devices like iPAD,...
Our requirement is to build applications that opens PDF on an iPAD, let the user edit and save the PDF.
If not, which other Adobe product does?
    Thanks,
    Murali

If you want to add text as comments, then a form created in Acrobat (Acroform) will work in Adobe Reader for iOS. It does not support forms created in LiveCycle Designer (XFA). There are also other PDF viewers that support Acroforms and commenting. So you don't need to create an application, just documents (PDF forms) that can be opened in an existing application (PDF viewer) that supports forms and commenting.
If you want to edit/add text that is part of the regular page contents of an existing PDF, I'm not aware of anything on iOS that does that and I don't think Adobe has anything that will help you develop an app that will.

  • How can I edit a secure pdf?

I was sent a secure pdf file and asked to complete the information on each page.  How can I do this?

Secured doesn't necessarily means that you can't fill in the form fields.
Did you try to do it? If you can't then you need to report it to the file's
    authors...

  • Secure PDFs and applications like Abobe Digital Editions are completely dismissing the needs of the Dyslexic reader.

    Hi all,
I am a dyslexic who has difficulty in reading and writing, however the advances in technology have enabled me and people like me the ability to engage with books, manuals and documents using text to speech packages. Whilst it is true that screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA and others have an ability to read the textual representations on a screen, they are not ideal (such as having difficulty in dealing with text flow), and there very essence is designed with visually impaired users in mind and not the dyslexic. The software of choice for the dyslexic (well for me at least) is Read and Write by Texthelp - a package that enables user such as me to properly read documents in a variety of formats and layouts, plus many other features, such as word highlighting, screen masking, dictionary lookups etc. etc.
Read and Write has a plug-in called PDFAloud that attaches itself to a standard Acrobat Reader or Editor to enable the user to read a PDF, however, with the advent of publishers wanting to secure their copyright by creating things like secure PDFs, this facility is not able to work in the correct fashion. It has therefore stopped people like me from being able to get the most out of those documents as the reading software no longer has the ability to read the text within the page in a sensible format (yes, Read and Write has screen reading abilities, but as mentioned these are not ideal). By locking out such software to read the documents natively, you are effectively excluding a whole group of users that have specific learning difficulties. In some circles this could be seen as discriminatory.
We need a way for software manufacturers and publishers to communicate in order that all users across all groups are catered for in the correct fashion, and not simply as a way for publishers to protect their own interests. It should not be difficult for companies like Adobe to provide the platform on which publishers can securely release electronic printed material, yet also provide the ability for third party developers to interact with that platform and thus help users who have specific needs. Crikey, if I wanted to copy the material, I could simply screen dump it - you are never going to stop a determined user from copying copyrighted material, but you are going to severely limit the ability of users with needs.
    Chris

I must say that after being FORCED to use this application, I can see that this is going to turn out to be an absolute horrendous and painful experience! Not only is there no support for my dyslexic software, but even basic reading navigation is non existent - and all this from a piece of software in its fourth generation!!!!
The literature I am trying to read is produced in partnership with the UK HM Government.I cannot believe that they have willingly decided to produce documentation in this format, both tying themselves into a product that seems to be little more than a beta version, and deliberately ignoring the needs of a large group of users that have difficulty with reading.Talk about make a difficult job worse.Well done the UK Government, TSO, Axelos (the Intellectual Property owners of the material I'm trying to read - which all relates to "Best Practice", if you can believe that) and well done Adobe.
To compound all of this I found a post on these very forums that was submitted back in 2011 from a lady who again had been forced into using this product through eBook purchases for her son, and again highlighted the fact that it was incompatible with his dyslexia software. Her post received the expected response from Adobe that I fear will be forthcoming with regard to this query - i.e. nothing.

  • Highlighting text & adding notes to a secured pdf

    Hi,
I have a secured pdf (locked for edit) which is fine by me, but why can't I highlight the text or add notes to that PDF?
Am i missing something? I am not altering the text or anything, just highlighting it...
Other application, as well as the Windows 8 reader do allow it!
I am using Adobe PDF reader touch for Windows 8.
    Thanks

We bought a PDF book from the site that you mentioned and inspected the document restrictions.  The PDF book is encrypted.
Currently, Adobe Reader Touch does not support any changes to encrypted PDF documents, even if the document permissions allow "Changing the document" or "Commenting".
We hope to offer the capability of making changes to encrypted PDF in a future release.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Looking for a PDF app for iPad

    Hi,
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought of this so I'm a believer that someone has created an app to help me and I can't find it!
Pretty much, I'm looking for an app that will allow me to edit PDF's on my ipad and then send it (Via WiFi or Bluetooth) to my laptop.
    For example:
Drawing a graph on my ipad, with detailed information, sending that to my macbook and then adding/inserting it to my PDF file on my laptop
(Like getting a notification on my mac, loading it, draging it to my pdf, and vola!)
If there is such a thing can someone help me out (If not feel free to take my idea and makes some money off of it, just let me know that you did!)
    Thanks

    Hey there
"pdf creator" for iPad works flawlessly for me working with pdf files
It takes care of all my needs
I'm not sure about sending via Wifi or Bluetooth but I send them via e- mail all the time
Possibly it could handle your needs as well
Just type it into the App Store search field and the first one that comes up is the one I use
Jump on over there and read up on it before buying and see if it will help you
    Hope this helps
    Regards
