Secured Playlists

Does anyone know of a way for users to secure Playlists?
For example, I have a 10 yr old daughter and we share our Nano.
However, I may have songs that may not be suitable for a 10yr old.
Therefore, I would want to secure MY Playlist with some type of 4 digit code or something so that she cannot access it.
But she can still access her own Playlists.
Is there any way this can be done?
Thank you!

Nope, I'm afraid not.

  • Itunes match has removed my playlists from itunes and my iphone. Not only that, many of the songs 'matched' on itunes do not show up on my iphone. Seriously annoyed, wish I'd never paid for it

    Please read the title; itunes match has removed my playlists on itunes and iphone and the songs that are supposedly 'matched' on itunes are not showing up on my iphone.
    Any Really annoyed about this

    iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
    The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud.  There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
    Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss.  Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus.  It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
    To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.

  • TS2570 Still cant access my computer, followed instructions to perform a safe boot and last line of script it shows: BootCacheControl: Unable to open /Var/db/BootCache.playlist:2 No such file or directory. Any idea?

    Upgraded memory from 4Gb to 8Gb on June 28th.
    Tried to write on my external HD (previously written on a windows based PC) with no success.
    Upon reccomendation from a Mac assistant, copied all my external HD contents into my Mac Hard drive.
    Then formatted my external HD and copied back all my information to it.
    deleted all the  information from my MacBook Pro HD.
    Attempted to repeat the same operation with another external HD, but got a message saying there was not enough epace on the computer HD (even though I have a 750Gb Hard Drive.
    Looked in the trash bin and there it was, all the information previously deleted..
    Could not empty the trash bin, although I got a message asking me to safely delete all the information from the trash bin,
    Could not get enough space released, after several attpempts the trash bin was finally emptied.
    All happy getting acquainted with my new MacBook Pro. Two days later, got a gray screen and not able to start the computer.
    Looking in to Mac support I found article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 and followed instructions to perform a safe boot:
    "Perform a Safe Boot
    Simply performing the Safe Boot may resolve this issue.
    Shut down your Mac. If necessary, hold your Mac's power button for several seconds to force it to power down.
    Start your Mac, then immediately hold the Shift key. This performs a Safe Boot. Advanced tip: If you want to
    see the status of a Safe Boot as it progresses, you can hold Shift-Command-V during start up (instead of just Shift).
    Note: A Safe Boot takes longer than a typical start up because it includes a disk check and other operations.
    The following is the script that appears on the screen upon safe boot. and halt after the last line.

  • Playlist has up to 50 empty play lists for some artists or albums that I have not put there?

    , & growing have spent at least 6 hours with ? supervisors 0 solutions also match, dups and deletes from my albums when used. I spend 80% time on Mac fixing 20% using. Also have soent over $400.00 having Mac in shop for corrupted files, programs move to wrong places, Will not back up time machine to time capusle, wich now shows up as two data files of 1T ea and it is a 3T time capsule.
    Can not afford the money or time to keep it working. Have had two Macbook pros prior with normal problems but iMac should have flown out my window a long time ago. I hate to turn it on because once on I just spend all my time fixing issus. #1 Mac fan prior to iMac. Have given up on support with a 20 issue and 2 fix ratio, that is about 20 hours talking with supervisors that don't know the answers so imagine the hours I spend reading, another pet peave, the answers you get in help. How many answers do you get that have nothing, what so ever, to do with your question? Yes I make my questions simple and to the point.
    The playlist issue, if anyone knows how to delete the playlists that show up from mars, that is faster than one by one, b ecause at that rate I can not keep up with the incoming duplicating and empty play lists.
    Does anyone know how to keep your albums locked so that songs do not dissapear and duplicate for no reason? When they duplicate I put the duplicate in trash now thinking that perhaps the Cloud had dups. But I am to the point of bypassing any help subjects because Mac does not know which is why they suggest the community for help. Would you buy another sony TV and a problem, you contacted sony and\ and they told you to call up other sony TV owners to find out how to work it?
    I may sound frustrated but I left that behind quite a while ago, apathetic, numb, tired, pretty much. But thats the american way and how other countries think about our government running us instead of us running it. Actually they mention scared of our government first, apathy second. Do not censor this as political it is just a backwards analogy where the fear comes afterward a chain of failed attempts to fix problems, by the experts, then my mates who are rowing in the upstream in same boat, waiting to row off the edge of the world.
    A bit melodramatic but that is now, not after wasting hours without results. Imediatly after the 15th or 16h time melo would not have work as a  preverb to any of the expressions that escaped from my ordinarily clean speach.

    If you really believe that your system has been compromised, here's what you do:
    Disconnect your Mac from your cable modem;
    Back up any documents on your system that are important to you;
    Boot your Mac from the system installation disks that came with it (insert the disk, restart your Mac, and hold down the "c" key until you get the "spinning gear" icon);
    Choose a language and click the arrow button to continue;
    From the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility;
    In Disk Utility, select your computer's hard drive;
    Click the "Erase" tab;
    Click the "Security Options" button and select to have it overwrite all the data on the hard drive;
    Click the "Erase" button and allow it to process;
    Once the "erase process has completed (it will take a while), reinstall Mac OS X.
    Or, if this is too much for you to accomplish on your own, take your system to an Apple Store and have them help you perform these steps. If your system was indeed compromised, this will remove any such hack. You can then set up a new user account for the computer, reinstall your applications (reinstall only from original disks or downloads from the company making the software) and documents, and reconnect to the Internet.
    Note that when you reconnect to the cable modem, you may still get an IP address starting with 198. This is normal with some cable modems and probably not a cause for concern. It will not be an indication that your system is still compromised; that will not be possible if you perform all the above steps.
    Regards.

    I got an iPhone 4 a week ago. I synced my iTunes once and now I want to change what albums and playlists are on my phone. When I try to do this, iTunes threatens to remove all my apps. Of course, Apple's support is no help. I know there has to be a way to add and remove whole albums and playlists like on the music tab on the device, so please don't tell me to uncheck/delete everything from my iTunes that I don't want and re-sync. That is not helpful and not the issue. How do I get around it threatening to remove all my apps?

    On the MacBook, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Advanced > Disable remote control

  • Secure link to iTunes Store Failed, Can't restore iPhone.

    Good day,
    Am hoping to get some help please. We recently upgraded our desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7. Re-installed all the software as well as iTunes 10.
    All has been working fine, up until yesterday. The playlist which we where syncing with the iPhone 3G, had been changed and we wanted to sync the changes to the phone.
    When preforming the sync, it got to the point where it said "Finishing Sync" in iTunes, the phone said "Sync in Progress" and iTunes froze completely. (Not Responding) Left it for about 30mins, after which it still said the same. I rebooted the machine and the phone, and tried again with the same error. I then tried removing all music and videos from the phone. Same problem.
    My last resort was to attempt a restore of the phone. It started the restore and eventually got to a point where iTunes came up with the error 2003, unable to restore iPhone, the phone was now stuck in restore mode with the iTunes Logo and USB plug on the main screen.
    So off to the iStore to get it fixed. The phone was reformatted/restored there and was working fine but I did not have any contacts/messages or photos on the phone, so I attempted another restore, so I could get my info back. It came up with the same issue again. Error 2003.
    I then started browsing around and found out the iTunes diagnostics, it fails every time on the "Secure link to iTunes", iTunes has been added to the Windows firewall, I have tried un-installing my AntiVirus software and trying it with again but same result. I have checked the ports are all open. I have tried to reset my hosts file. I have reset my internet explorer settings, but nothing is working.
    Can anybody help me out with this please.

    The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
    The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
    Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
    It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.
    You can download a free version of an excellent scanner- Malwarebytes here:

    #2, iTunes will also crash when I try to delete all of my iTunes Library XML stuff and replace it with the one from my old computer in order to preserve all of my play count and file path information (it is all linked to an external)... still don't know why this isn't a feature on iTunes yet, but I digress. It worked when I replaced the hard drive and logic board on my old MBP, iTunes throws an absolute fit when I do it now.
    I saw a lot of people on other forums suggesting that you just take out any and all iTunes plists, and when I did that I managed to get as far as deleting one of the default playlists (90's Music), but when I tried to delete a second one the dialog box hung without text and then iTunes crashed again.
    Help me out, I want to be able to be blasting tunes out of my speakers again tonight!!

    As a test, try logging in to Mac OS X as another user (create one if you need to) and see if iTunes works for that user. That will help determine if it's a problem with your normal user's iTunes files or a more general problem.
    It's possible that you have a corrupted track. That can in some cases causes iTunes to crash when opening or importing.

  • Itunes 6.0 - if download is on playlist, it won't burn - Please help

    Hi Everyone (and Toonz, perhaps we can continue where we left off in Dec)
    Basically my problem is that I can't burn any purchased tracks from Itunes. I can burn uploaded stuff from my own cd collection, but not if it has a purchased track on the playlist.
    It checks playlist, ticks the tracks then freezes/hangs and I have to control alt delete to get out of Itunes entirely.
    So far I've updated firmware, tried it with firewall and security system off and pop ups off, tried both cd drives. Tried different burn speeds and cd makes.
    What I have done is managed to burn it to data disc, but then of course I can't play it on anything other than the pc, so that's no use.
    This all started when I had to re-load Itunes to version 6 after a pc crash. The previous version was fine.
    I've updated to the very latest version of Itunes (6.0.2 I think) just the other day, but no joy.

    I personally feel that this has something to do with licenses but that's just a hunch.
    Does anyone know how licenses can be renewed, or se-sent to my computer to authorise me to use the tracks (Media Player has a function that does this)?
    I'm willing to try whatever people suggest if I haven't tried it already.
    Jane

    Janieburmy,
    You can always deauthorize all your machines from your store account page — just log in and view your account settings and there's a button to deauth all your machines. Which just means for the other machines, it will ask you for your store ID / password the next time you play a purchased song.
    So, let's try the filter experiment.
    On the start menu, click on "run". in the space it provides enter "regedit" without the quotes. This will open the registry editor.
    Find the heading HKEYLOCALMACHINE. Click on it.
    Find the heading SYSTEM inside it. Click on it.
    Find the heading CurrentControlSet. Click
    Find the heading Control. Click
    Find the heading Class. Click
    Find the heading that begins {4D36E965- Click
    Go up to the Registry menu and select "Export Registry File... command. Make sure the "Selected Branch" radio button is checked and save that off somewhere that you can find it.
    Delete the key named LowerFilter.
    Select the key named UpperFilter, right click, select "modify". Then edit the text in the dialog to just say "GEARAspiWDM" followed by hitting the return key, the return after the word is important.
    Then reboot, and see what iTunes does.
    To get the system back to its previous state. Run Regedit again and use the Registry menu -> Import Registry File... command and select the file that you saved off in the first section.
    I'm particularly interested in getting rid of the "AFS2K" driver in the chain — that's a old driver from a company that hasn't existed in years.
    To answer your last question, why am I doing this?... I'm paying off a karmic debt. And someday we'll start that Tequila for Toonz paypal account and then I'll be set.

  • Can guests using 'Remote' access my entire iTunes library or just the playlist I am using with iTunes DJ?

    I am about to hold a disco for some friends and have created a playlist from appropriate tracks from my iTunes library. iTunes DJ is 'pointed' at this playlist and voting is enabled. It seems to work fine. But ... Are guests restricted to accessing the iTunes DJ playlist (I want this) or can they access the whole library (I do not want this)?
    Is there a detailed user guide? I can't see one.
    I presume I must transport my iMac to the venue and use one of my airport expresses to create a temporary unprotected wireless network? I say this because I have read that secured networks block voting. Trouble is an unsecured network is exactly that. Any advice appreciated.

    if you have all the songs still on your ipod you can put them back on your computer from the ipod... just DONT LET ITUNES SYNC WITH YOU IPOD when you plug it back in. change the settings to manual control for syncing ipods or your itunes will delete all of them. i dont know what to do for the unchecked songs... i had a similar situation and i used a mac program to take the songs off of my ipod. hope this helps.. just google for an application that will let ya take songs off the ipod.

  • HT1451 I had another itune account but when my ipod broke it made me create another account. how can i access my old account with my old playlist?

    I had an ipod touch and it broke, when i replaced it with a new one it made me recreate another account. is there a way to access my old account and playlists?

    "when i got the new one it told me that it wasnt the correct device and i needed to create an account for that specific device. "
    I think you misunderstood.  I have had the same account for 7 years and through many, many devices an computers.
    " the computer i used for the  acct no longer works,"
    Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
    "everytime i enter my information to access the old account username and password it makes me answer security questions that then tell me im wrong and when i try to send an email for verification i never get one to that email address?"
    Contact itunes support about this:

    If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
    Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
    Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
    Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
    Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
    If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

  • ITunes won't update--says playlists nonexistent

    I had too many songs on iTunes for iPod to carry, so iTunes made a separate playlist. I deleted stuff from my library, then deleted the playlist so it would sync with the whole library again. Now I get a message saying, "iPod could not be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist." How do I transfer playlists anyway? It never did that in the first place, except for the one it created, and now I can't get any new stuff on there.

    Downloading of iTunes issues on Windows are most commonly related to security, firewall or anti-virus software blocking access. Disable them and try downloading again.
