Securing data - custom vs VPD vs another solution
Hi we have a requirement in our project to secure data for entities like "cases" based upon attribute value like "dispute type". So if the attribute "dispute type" has a value "franchise"; an admin can go and create a group "franchise" so that Members of the “Franchise” group can VIEW all parts of all case records with a dispute type of “Franchise” but others cannot. Also we could control the permissions e.g VIEW, Edit CREATE for that group on thoserecord
Like this we could decide to secure "cases" based upon another value for dispute type. Also we could then secure data based upon another attribute.
Potential solutions:1) Custom
we use standard ADF grid to display all data to super admin. He can filter based upon the required attribute, all cases with the value for that attribute.
e.g filter on "dispute type" column and get all cases with "dispute type"= "franchise". We select all these cases and create an access control list (ACLs) a combination of group and permission and apply to these cases. The ACL resides in the database linked to the "cases". This could be normalized tables again. Like this we can filter records at run time and build the ACLs for the cases for which we need to link the groups based upon conditions.
At run time, we only need to check the ACL for a case to decide if the user has access to that based upon whether or not user is any of the group and the permissions then available.
This is on top of the standard ADF permissions
2) VPD - use virtual private data base to do this
3) Other solution
We need to know what could be best possible solution. Also would a VPD based solution be better here? would it allow flexibility like custom solution? also in terms of timelines and performance which is best match ..
Hi,
VPD for sure is a good solution if the same rules apply to multiple applications, not just one and not just ADF. My take on data security usually is to no query what users aren't allowed to see anyway. Data that is left in the database cannot be stolen on transit. For other options I can envision, is the use of discriminator columns as explained here: http://mjabr.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/using-discriminator-columns/ or polymorphic views (see sample 10 at https://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/resource/examples#10) (doc: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/web.1111/b31974/bcadvvo.htm#CEGDCCCB)
You can then define security roles for the different application or enterprise roles that you check (in the case of ADF Security) using EL, Java or Groovy.
Frank
Ps.: Note that JDeveloper 12c will provide options to dynamically apply view criteria based on user security roles, in which case you get another option.

Customizing table Changes to another system
Hello all,
When ever changes occurred to personnel area HR table T500P then the changes needs to be replicated in another system.
how to capture the change log details?
Please provide the inputs.
Regards
AravindHi,
First : In the table T500P , some of the field data elements dont have change log checked. so we will not able to use CDHDR and CDPOS table. I have to capture all the changes for this table.
Second: technical setting of the table has data log change check box is ticked but SCU3 is not activated . so this one also we can't use .
Third: Transporting data from on system to another system:For this there is no T500P table exist in the SRM system.
could you please elaborate how to use this step?
Fourth:
1. creating Ztable as copy of T500P and update the ztable with T500P data.
2. write events for this table to update T500P and also trasfer the data.
but thing is we should have to maintain custom table . If T500p changes then it will not update the ztable.
Fifth: I came to know that there is one message type "CONDA2" for Synchronizing Customizing Data Between Systems.
but don't know the procedure to get the complete solution.
Please provide your inputs..
Regards

Securing data from dba access , like Credit Card Details
Hello ,
is there any way of hiding CC details from all users in db level except specifc users
enrypting cc data like oracle hashed passwords
for ex,
case (1)
user 1 ( has access to these details )
select acc#,customer_name from cc_details
output : it will show all the details decrypted
case (2)
user 2 : ( doesnt have access )
select acc#,customer_name from cc_details
output : it will show all the details encrypted
both in db level , like using sqlplus or toad
any idea!
thanks and regards,Hi, Peter,

In reg's to reading data from datafile, that's where TDE comes into the picture; then no-one can read from data file directly.
There is no user who owns TDE; TDE is enabled on a database-wide level. So the >normal data owner (who is the only who should have full access to his own data with >DBVault) can use TDE to encrypt; no extra privileges needed.I’ve told about the user who is the owner of the database wallet (usually SYS). He can temporary disable encryption, takes the data, then restore encryption.
DBVault and TDE should be the perfect match for 'securing data from dba access , like >Credit Card Details'In other words we have yet another administrator (DV owner) instead of the good old SYS :)
And I have a question: in case the protection with DV of some tables was made from the SYS, can he make (in example) full backup or full export of the data (his ordinary administrative tasks)? If yes, then it isn't protection, if no, then...what?
The solution is somewhere else, I think -
Adding Data From One Table to Another
Now, this doesn't strike me as a particularly complex problem, but I've either strayed outside the domain of Numbers or I'm just not looking at the problem from the right angle. In any case, I'm sure you guys can offer some insight.
What I'm trying to do is, essentially, move data from one table to another. One table is a calendar, a simple two column 'date/task to be completed' affair, the other is a schedule of jogging workouts, i.e, times, distances. Basically, I'm trying to create a formula that copies data from the second table onto the first but only for odd days of the week, excepting Sundays (and assuming Monday as the start of the week). Now, this isn't the hard part, I can do that. The problem comes when I replicate the formula down the calendar. Even on the days when the 'if' statement identifies it as an 'even day', the cell reference to the appropriate workout on the second table is incremented, so when it comes to the next 'odd day', it has skipped a workout.
I can't seem to see any way of getting it to specifically copy the NEXT line in the second table, and not the corresponding line.
This began as a distraction to try and organise my running so I could see at a glance what I had to do that day and track my progress, but now it's turned into an obsession. SURELY there's a solution?
Cheers.Hi Sealatron,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Numbers '09 forum.
Several possible ways to move the data occur to me, but the devil's in the details of how the data is currently arranged.
Is it
• a list of three workouts, one for each of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then the same three repeated the following week?
• an open-ended list that does not repeat?
• something else?

Moving time-dependant data from one table to another (archiving)
Hello all
I would like to know if there's an easier solution or a "best practice" to move data from one table to another. The context of this issue can be found within "archiving".
More concretely: we have an application that uses several tables to log information to.
These tables are growing like crazy, and we would like to keep only "relevant" data in those tables, so I was thinking about moving data from these tables that have been in there for, say 2 months, to "archiving" tables.
I figured there must be some kind of "best practice" to get this done.
I have already written a procedure that loops the table that has the time indicator and inserts the records from the normal tables into the archive tables (and afterwards delete this data), but it seems to be taking ages to get it done.
Thanks in advance!

How can I transport data from one client to another client?
How can I transport data from one client to another client?
Regards,
Subhohmmm, CTS = cutomizing transport?
If you have a customizing table, there are still two possibilities.
1. customize in DEV system and transport
2. customize right there where you need it.
this depends on how the maintainance view is built. If it is a simple customizing table and you get not asked for a TR when customizing a new record or changing an existing one, you hit possibility 2. -
How to move only subset of data from one database to another?
Both source & destination are Oracle11g databases.
The requirement details are as below,
1) The database contains static as well as transactional data for telecom domain.
2) We have to move region-wise data from one database to another.
3) There are around 10 regions.
4) The region wise data extraction from source db is based on around 40 to 50 tables. Rest of the tables contains
static data & it will not change.
5) The volume is around 1 million subscribers per region.
6) The migration is required because
a) The client is upgrading its base product which uses this database
b) There is a change in structure of static tables
c) Hardware upgrade
d) The client want to start with single region on new database & rest of the regions will be operated from old
database.
7) Keep execution time to very minimum.
I am thinking to have solution as below,
1) Create destination database with upgraded db structure (as mentioned in 6b)
2) Create database links to access source db in destination db.
3) Write SQL queries to fetch data from all the respective tables for a specific region
4) Write separate PL/SQL blocks for each table to fetch data from source db & insert into respective table in
destination db
a) Use FOR ALL & bulk collect to improve the performance
b) Divide table data into multiple chunks & execute parallel batches (around 10) to insert the data
5) Validate pre & post counts to verify the success of migration
Is there any other better way?
Regards,
SandeepHow to move only subset of data from a partiular table by using transportable tablespace?
E.g. SUB table using SMP_SUB tablespace contains subscriber data in source database.
The indexes defined on SUB table are under SMP_IDX_SUB tablespace
The subscribers data can be categorized by different regions, say region_id column. Then how to move data & indexes of SUB table from source db to destination db?
any specific example would be helpful. -

164Hi Hardeep,
Looks like the transformation and DTP need to be activated again.
The error is RSBK (299) - 'Invalid program status'. So please activate the transformation and DTP possibly activate the DSO's too.
It should then work.
Thanks

Move data from one table to another table
Hi all,
I had a custom table called sales_data in that table there are columns like JAn,FEB,upto DEC including other columns so in each month there is some data total data is 23000 count but each month has has specific data like JAn-2500,FEB-2000 like that it has total 23000 records
My Requirement is i have to move data from one table to another table that too if i will pass jan only jan data should move like that feb,march,.....
in my table there is no month column i had get it from another table called gl_periods and by using cursor and case function i have written the code
well while when i am inserting data am passing year,month as parameters but 23000 data is moving it should get like that.
Please suggest me.its urgent

Passing data from a container to another
Hi,
Let's say I have two containers (Container1=application , Container2). Container1 gets some data from user, perform some database lookup and displays Container2 with the results from database lookup.
Container1 --(call and display)--> Container2
Below shows how I am using a bindable variable in Container1 to pass the data from Container1 to Container2. Also shows how I display Container2 from Container1.
<!-- Container1 -->
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
[Bindable] public var foo:String = "bar";
private function loginHandler(event:LoginEvent):void
mycontainer2 = new Container2();
mycontainer2.name = "mycontainer2";
this.addChild(mycontainer2);
</mx:Application>
I am accessing the data in Container2 as follow:
<!-- Container2 -->
{mx.core.Application.application.foo}
Q1) Is there a better way to pass data from one container to another and access the data?
Q2) Is this the only way to call and display Container2 from Container1?
Q3) How can I move back to Container1 from Container2, i.e. Container2 call and display Container1
Container2 --(back to)--> Container1Best practices call for using custom events to share data between components. Here is my Flex 3 Cookbook post on the topic:
http://cookbooks.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=showdetails&postId=15466
To switch easily between containers 1 & 2 use a ViewStack, the gold standard for such interaction, and manipulate the selectedIndex or selectedChild property:

BADI for transfering data from one modal to another modal within single appset
Hallo Experts,
My Business Requirement is Transfer of data from one modal to another in same environment and did this taking reference from below document.(How to custom badi for replicating destination app)
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e04b5d24-085f-2c10-d5a2-c1153a9f9346?QuickLink=index&…
Document contains TR for implementing BADI, but this document supports bpc version 7.0 and we are using is bpc 10.0.
So i make all compatible changes in BADI implementation and activate it. Now i am testing using transaction UJKT using following script.
and the result is records successfully written back to application MIS, but when i check data is not moved to target application MIS.
I am facing stuck situation in my project work. Please Suggest. Hope for positive reply.
Script:
*XDIM_MEMBERSET WM_ACCOUNT = WM_041,
*XDIM_MEMBERSET WM_UOM_02 = UOM_004
*XDIM_MEMBERSET WM_UD_2 = WM_07

Please find attached result.
Regards,
Dipesh Mudras.Hello,
Here is the manual to copy data between apps (it works with BPC NW75):
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0480970-894f-2d10-f9a5-d4b1160be203?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
It works me, but now I need to modify the Script Logic to make that a "property" from the origin dimension has to be copied to the destination dimension as "id", like follow:
//*XDIM_MEMBERSET CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
//*XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME = %TIME_SET%
//*XDIM_MEMBERSET ENTITY = %ENTITY_SET%
//*XDIM_MEMBERSET RPTCURRENCY = %RPTCURRENCY_SET%
*START_BADI FiltroPD
WRITE = OFF
APPL = $APPLICATION$
ADD_DIM = "ORIGEN = APPVENTAS"
ADD_DIM ="O_COSTE = no_input"
ADD_DIM="CECO = no_input"
RENAME_DIM="P_ACCT = RATIOS.P_ACCT "
*END_BADI -
Hi All,
I am new to TestStand. Still in the process of learning it.
What are Parameters? How are they differenet from Variables? Why can't we use variables for passing data from one sequnece to another? What is the advantage of using Parameters instead of Variables?
Thanks in advance,
LaVIEWan
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi,
Using the Parameters is the correct method to pass data into and out of a sub sequence. You assign your data to be passed into or out of a Sequence when you are in the Edit Sequence Call dialog and in the Sequence Parameter list.
