Security as seen in Internet explorer

Hi,
It would be great in seeing another security feature in safari as seen within internet option (internet Explorer)
In internet Explorer:
Withing Security tab we can set security in following zones:
- Internet
- Trusted Sites
- Restricted site
When websites are in Restricted zone then the following are set as disabled:
- enable plug-in
- Jave including JavaScript
- ect...
We adding websites within restricted MS allows using wild card as:
*.somewwhere.com
This really prevent those websites breaking frame from traffic exchanges and others
We know in safari for windows we have a choice to what needs to be disable or enable in Security within preference
I hope to see a restricted area withing Security in safari for Window?
Again, Restricted zone with internet explorer work extremely well and I certain this will also work in safari.

Actually, I did found a way!
The simplest way is to modify host file, that is by including domain name.
When a domain name is in host file, the safari displays a blank page! It work with flying colors!
Assume that somewhere.com is breaking frame, see below for host file sample:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 somewhere.com
Therefore, somewhere.com was added by me. Too bad we can't do the same on an iphone instead of completely disable safari on iphone!

Why can't .swf be seen in Internet Explorer?

Hello!
I am working with .swf files on the website I'm buidling for the company I am working at. However, I have noticed that the .swf file I did with buttons can't be seen in Internet Explorer. There is another .swf file without links that works perfectly and can be seen in all internet readers. However, if the internet reader itself doesnt have Flash plug-in on it, it can't be seen. So any tips and advices how I can solve the problem? How I can make the .swf files compatible with all internet readers without problem?
Any suggestions?

In order for IE users to view your movie they need:

2.) Quicktime enabled in their browser.

How to stop the information bar cmoing in the Internet Explorer with java

iam new to this forum and posting a question on java application where i had a problem.
I work in a software company. we have developed an application and it is in production and we had a small problem. we have deifferent kinds of reports te users can get dynamicalty based on theirn requet parameters. so when we are deployingthe application on server and accessing it from the client machine(bothe the server and client are diferent i mean different machines) they get an information bar that
"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options". and for this we have given them the solutions for setting the security features for the
Internet Explorer . but they want it to be done thru program such that they dont want to see that message. i need a small help for this.
It would be very help ful for me in my carreer if i get a solution for this.

I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't all applets have the same popup bar? I guess you can tell your customers to turn off their popup blocker beforehand. (This is what my uni does with WebCT Vista)

This sounds like a virus or malware program that has made its way onto your computer. I would ensure you have the latest virus definitions on your computer and run a thorough (complete) scan of your system. If this doesn't work, I would suggest you use Microsoft's Malware Removal Tool. You can download it at the link below. Hope this helps.

Windows Security Prompt in Internet Explorer 10 on Sharepoint Foundation 2013 site

Hi,
I have Sharepoint Foundation 2013 and when I access the site from Internet Explorer 10 I get prompted for windows security, after enter my domain credential I am able to log into the site. When I access the site from Internet Explorer 9 I don't
receive the windows security prompt. Below you will find screenshot. How can I prevent Internet Explorer 10 and later to not prompt for domain credential?

I tried to download an e-filing client software from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) website [http://www.wipo.int/pct-safe/en/download/download_client.htm] using Firefox. Clicking the link to download yielded no activity. I eventually tried the same link in internet explorer and it worked. This occurred last week. I have a deadline to complete an international patent filing today; and in order to do so online, I had to request a Secure Digital ID from WIPO. It was approved and received early this morning (Central European Time Zone); and the accompanying guidelines suggested that I use the same computer and browser to retrieve the ID. This meant that since I use Firefox as my default browser my request was also made and had to be retrieved in Firefox. Following the WIPO support instructions I ran into exactly the same problem of inactivity when trying to "Backup" my newly installed ID certificate per WIPO instruction, so that it may be imported into the e-filing software. Please help as soon as you can as my patent deadline is merely hours away. Please also see a response from the WIPO helpdesk below:

Just to follow up on my findings. My last issue regarding the digital certificate was not at the time of initial download into Firefox, but my application required that I backup the certificate into a folder which can then be accessed to sign a submission generated by a third-party Client software.
After finally steering away from the digital signing route by opting for a non digital filing of my project, I later revisited the Firefox certificates list only to find that the 'Backup' button still didn't work or respond in any way whatsoever; however since I only had a single certificate on my list... I threw my hand up in the air and tried the 'Backup All' button... guess what - that worked!! My browser then navigated to a file browser which allowed me to save the certificate to a folder of my choice. Of course this was after the fact as my deadline had already passed and and I had the Administrator who initially granted my secure ID revoke it once I was blocked from downloading it by Firefox.
Just an update/FYI for y'all... But I'm not sure if this type of anomoly is due to a glitch on my computer or a glitch on the browser - but it certainly did catch me off-guard during a deadline.

What's,with,the,commas?
If you have a tablet that runs full Windows 8 - not Windows 8 RT, which is limited.
And if you install the full Adobe Reader for Windows, not the special Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8.
Then you will have the same features as a desktop.
Unless they can't be accessed in touch mode, since it isn't a touch app.

I need to install Internet Explorer on my iMac G5 (OSX vs 10.4.11). Is there a secure source for downloading an older version of IE that will work with my system?

I'm not sure I properly asked my question. I have a need to post a resume to an employer who requires that the information be submitted via Internet Explorer. My OSX vs 10.4.11 will not accept downloads of the current IE version and Microsoft no longer supports any earlier versions that would work with my Mac. A web search shows thousands of download possibilties, but I am leery of what kind of schmutz might come with them. I need to know what to look for on the toolbar when I am looking for a "secure site icon" such as the locked padlock on Internet Explorer

We are unable to identify when we are on a secure site as we can when using Internet Explorer.

Firefox 3 stil has the padlock in the right corner of the Status Bar (View > Status Bar).<br />
Firefox 4 won't have the Status Bar anymore, so there you only have the site favicon on the location bar showing the domain if there is a secure connection and the website is identified.<br />
Be aware that the presence of a padlock is no guarantee that you are connected to the expected website and that is the main reason for removal of the padlock.

Secured webpage requires Internet Explorer

I'm a Apple newbie as of today. Trying to access a secure webpage for work and it requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 for MAC or better, do I have to download it or does Safari handle that requirement? Also requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, again, do I need to download?
If I do have to download Microsoft IE, how do I use for only the required webpages?

There a few ( not too many ) secure websites that will not work with Safari.
There are also better options than Microsofts I.E. - It has stopped being developed by MS and wont be updated again.
One option is Firefox

You can add Firefox to your dock there by simply dragging the icon onto the dock with the mouse.

Visa security verification fails with Firefox, but ok with Internet Explorer.

When I use either Visa or Mastercard for online shopping on Firefox, when I submit the security verification (Verified by Visa) the screen freezes. I tested it by using the wrong security info and I got a response to say that it was wrong, but when I entered the correct info, it froze. I have tried different cards, as has my wife, and the same happens. Fortunately the payment doesn't go through.
There is no problem when we use Internet Explorer or on sites where verification is not requested.

I get that warning on both Fx26 and IE8, searching on google.com and google.com.au. My query was:

Visited a secure site, but found no indication on FIREFOX that site was secure (e.g.: No padlock displayed) so switched to internet explorer to continue....

Visited a secure site to renew my membership, but there was no indication on FIREFOX WINDOW that the site was secure. Whereas, when using Internet Explorer the usual padlock symbol was displayed.

Internet Explorer Security Settings for Previewing in Developer

Hello Marc,
I just 2 weeks new to UPK. I just switched over to a new laptop and now when I try to preview UPK in try it mode (local install), I receive an error message that says PREVIEW CANNOT OPEN "preview requires intranet settings to be enabled. These settings are located on the security tab in the Internet Settings of Internet Explorer." I current use IE 7.0. Can you advise which settings need to be changed?

For See It! and Try It! mode preview you will need to do the following:
Tools > Internet Options > Security (tab) > Local Intranet (icon) > Sites. Check all of the boxes. “Automatically detect intranet network” must be unchecked for the other buttons to be available. Once you check everything, you can re-check “Automatically detect intranet network”.
For Do It! mode preview you will need to do the following:
Tools > Internet Options > Security (tab) > Local Intranet (icon) > Custom level... Scroll down until you see the option for "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints" (a little more than halfway down) and set this option to Enable.
This should allow you to properly preview these modes in the UPK Developer.
