Security cam

i was wondering if y’all have any suggestions as to how to set up a web cam as a security cam.
i’d like to record the footage to an older machine and view it when time permits at the end of the day.

  • How can I view and convert .264 files from my security cameras for use on my Mac and the web?

My security cams record in a .264 file format HD.  I want to view, edit, etc on my Mac, what software will do that and are there any easy tips to do this?  I'm new to Mac's so I'm not sure what is the best format to convert to?  mp4?  Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.  I do love the Mac so far.

I have downloaded the trail....and it won't recognize my .264 files....not sure what the deal is?  Here is a screen shot-they files are "grayed" out....and won't highlight.  Do you see anything wrong?  I'm pulling the files off of a Lorex DVR security system.  LHD200

  • Port Forwarding for Security Cameras

I have a Cisco RV220W that I am trying to set up to view the store security cameras remotely. I can view the cameras when connected to the LAN but not with a WAN connection. The Video recorder is an ADT system.

    Hello,
I have looked into the RTSP standard, and it looks like the default ports are 554 for TCP and UDP.  Since it looks like your cameras are using a different port, you may want to try creating a custom service for 8016 externally, since the default rule is currently translating 554 to 8016.  Of course you can also try connecting to the cameras with the public IP and port number 554, that should work with your current setup.
However if you are unable to change the port your client software uses, definitely try creating a custom service for 8016.  You may also want to double check that the camera has the RV set as it's default gateway.
    Hope that helps,

Do you want to watch the live feed of your secutiry cameras or recorded footage?
In either case, I don't think iCloud is your solution.
For the first one, check with your security camera software, they usually have this option of broadcasting, so you'll know how to access it.
For the later, you should use something like Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), since iCloud file sharing is, up to this date, app restricted.
    Hope it helps.

  • What changed in Firefox versions 15,16 & 17 while viewing network security cameras?

I have been viewing my network Axis security camera's over my local area network for years with Firefox. After update version 15, I can only view the image for a few seconds before I have to reload the page because the image will disappear. The camera's server stays up, but the video image is gone, and telling me to reload page. After a reload it comes back in. Sometimes it will only last 5 sec's, other times between 30 & 60 sec's. If I downgrade to version 14.0.1, it all works fine like it should again. Am I doomed to use this version now forever? Or is there a way to tweak the newer version to let me view the video image longer?
Camera's video image is in Motion JPEG format and I have the latest Java & flash installed. I also have tried Firefox with all plugins disabled and it still don't help. I have 64 bit Windows 7 for operating system.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Isight Camera as a Security Camera

Is there any way in which I can log into my iMac at home from work and run my iSight camera, essentially using it as a security camera? Is there any software that does this? I would appreciate any specific information you could provide. Thank you.

    Yes.
All you need is the appropriate software:

  • How to get video of more than one security camera in java

I want to get video from more than one security cameras and i really donot know yet how we do this that get videos continously with more than one camera
olz i a beginner help me

    Hello.
I don't know if the topic still matters, but as I took advantage from the information in the preview posts, I decided to give my share.
I successfully ran three webcameras at the same time in a Linux machine with JMF.
    The two main issues are:
    1. It is necessary to run the binary "jmfregistry" ($JMFHOME/bin/jmfregistry) to detect the cameras every time a new one is added to the system. (Remember to run the binary with a user with write privileges on the registry file ($JMFHOME/lig/jmf.properties)).
    2. It is mandatory to plug each camera in a different usb bus. In my case, the PC I was using had three accessible two-ports buses, two in the rear and one in the front of the box. If we try to use two cameras in the same bus, one of them won't work or the detecting procedure in the "jmfregistry" program will hang.
I hope it helps. Any question, please feel free to ask.

    My configuration:
    Java:
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_01-b06)

OpenSuse Linux version 10.2 (kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default)

In time (for linuxers): It was necessary to download and install the gspcav driver (http://mxhaard.free.fr/). It is also necessary do load this driver before the camera driver:
    modprobe gspca
modprobe zc0301 (this one comes with the distribution)

  • Settings For a SIM card in a Security Camera to send emails of the photos

I have a Scoutguard SG880MK-8M security camera.  It uses GPRS to send emails of photos to any email address.  Or it can send MMS of the photos to a mobile number. It works with a vodafone card installed using the MMS function.  I haven't managed to get the email working.   Here's the settings it requires and those that work for Vodafone (the MMS ones at the top) for MMS application

I use the same camera - had email via gprs working fine for a while until our $70 telstra long life SIM ran out after a year then after recharge we could only use email via MMS. Have tried everything including replacing the camera but to no avail - telstra techs have also tried but it is difficult to get someone with the experience this requires so they mostly give up and say take it to telstra shop or to seller. I know this can work on this exact camera as we had it working for a year. Settings we used were:
    Gprs setting
    Server:mail.bigpond.com
    Port: 25
    APN telstra.wap or telstra.internet
    Account guest
    Password guest
    Email user is [email protected]
Email password xxxxx this is your telstra bigpond username and password or the one for your optus equivalent etc
    Email address
Email1 [email protected] etc wherever you want the photo to go
Hope this helps - any advice on why the much cheaper gprs setting for email (email via mms works ok but is more expensive) suddenly stopped working please let me know - whe use the camera for pig control and the most cost effective data use is desirable

  • Wireless security cam

    hi,
I am planning to install several wireless security cams at home, and the one from linksys seemed  a good choice to me.
I am looking for a specific feature that I am not able to find any explanation on. In the features I see that I am abe to watch live immages remotely, and record those live images. What I am also looking for, is that the system can automatically takes and record immages, even when I am not connected to the cam.  assumethat there is a stranger in  our house, I wantthose images t be recorded at a later stage so that I can see who has been there.
Is that possible with the linksys cam?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Koen

Yes,using the motion detection feature on the linksys camera it is possible...Some good linksys camera are WVC54GC,WVC54GCA,WVC80N.

  • Wireless webcam / security cam for use with Intel iMac

Hi all. I want to set up an outdoor web/security cam and a wireless model would be ideal, as I want to be able to put it in different locations.
There seem to be many PC-compatible wireless cameras, but are there any which are compatible with the Mac OS? I don't really want to get into Boot Camp / Parallels territory if possible.

  • Port forwarding security cameras WPA2 blocked?

I just bought an Airport Extreme router and set up port forwarding for home security cameras.
When I have no security - I can access the cameras remotely (iPhone) and locally with no problems on my iPhone. However, when I add on WPA2 security everything gets blocked. Is there a firewall or feature inside the AEBS that needs to be modified? Help!

The fact that you can access the cameras remotely verifies that the port settings are correct on your AEBS.
Wireless security does not use ports as it is a local network feature so no additional base station settings should be required.
The issue appears to be with your iPhone Wi-Fi connection when wireless security is enabled. WPA2 is supported with all iPhone models.
I would recommend at this point to change the security password to see if this resolves the problem. Temporarily try the following as the base station's Wireless Security password: 0123456789abcdef0123456789
Note that there are exactly 26 characters. If this works, go ahead and change the password. I would recommend one that contains a combination of 26 letters, numbers, & punctuation marks without using any spaces.

Basically your player is telling you that you need to install the codecs that will play the compressed data within the AVI file.
AVI is a legacy file container in which the tracks of data are interleaved to maintain synchronization. This data can be encoded using many different audio and video codecs. Your problem is to determine which codecs you need for the player you are trying to use and install them if they are available. Failing that, your will either have to play the files in a different player which has the codec support your require built into the app or convert the content to a compression format that is natively compatible with the player you wish to use.
Since you have not stated what platform, operating system, and particular player you are targeting for playback, it is difficult to provide precise instructions for fixing your specific problem at this point. Suggest you try alternative players compatible with your system and platform to see if they will play the files, use a dedicated media information utility to determine the codecs needed for playback, or post a sample file for analysis.
