Security Code 6500 slide

I don't remember chnaging the security code on my new 6500 slide, i want to clear my message log and it asks for security code, i put in the defaulf 12345 and it gives me "code error". can anybody help? thks

Don't try this too often. If you enter an incorrect security code 10(?) times, it locks the phone leaving a re-flash of the firmware at a care point to be the only solution.
In fact, if you don't remember the security code then that will be your only solution anyway.
If you do take it to an NCP, remember to provide proof of purchase demonstrating that you are the owner of the phone.

  • 6500 slide security code

    Hi there
I have a 6500 slide and I have forgotten the security code! Is there anyway of resetting it? I can't use the Nokia Software updater as it has to be "on" and functioning before it will see it!!
    Can anyone help me?!
    Thank you

If you have forgotten your code and the default 12345 code doesn't work then the only option is to take your phone to a nokia care point to get the code reset.
The process may wipe all of your data and they will need to see proof of purchase before they will do it.
There is no other way for a user to reset this code.

  • HP Officejet 6500, Windows XP and 7, wireless LAN security code is not accepted

The security code of my wireless LAN is not accepted by the HP6500A. According to the diagnostic software of HP a code consisting of more than 50 characters is required (the total number of characters can not be identified because the code isgoing on out of the window). The security code of the route consists of 12 characters. Resetting the printer is not solving the problem.
This problem was identified after rinstalling the software after problems with printing: connection with the printer was identified; message: "busy with printing", but no printing result at all.

Security codes can be in ASCII or HEX.  I'm guessing that the diagnostics is reporting HEX and the printer entry is in ASCII.
You can try running the diagnostics SW on the Windows 7 computer.  It might return the key in ASCII.
A good option is to get the password from somewhere other than the diagnostics.  Maybe you stored it somewhere or wrote it down?  Once you get it try to enter from the front panel.
Can I get a little information from you?
    What router brand model?
What security mode are you using (WEP, WPA, WPA2)?
Which model of the 6500 do you have (6500 or 6500a)?

  • 6500 Slide Firmware + Product Code

    Hey guys,
Can anybody tell me the latest firmware for the 6500 Slide, and a debranded UK/Euro product code for the phone?
    Thanks :]

You need to go to a nokia care point and pay to have them install the language pack that you require,
note that if you later upgrade your phones firmware this new language pack will be lost

  • Security Code for Nokia 6500 Classic

Hi, I try to use the code - 12345 - as the security code as listed in my manual, but it just comes up with "code error".
    can anyone help?

A small number of new models, and I know that the 6500 is one, come with no preset security code - you have to enter one the first time you use any feature that requires it.
If you go to the Settings>Security>Access Codes menu and see the option "Create security code", then you still have none; but if you see "Change security code" instead, then somebody has already done the business and unfortunately, it is still a issue that your care point has to solve for you.

  • SOS:how can i clear my 6500s security code

please can someone help me clear my security code i put on my nokia 6500s phone. i put it few months ago and now i totally forgot, tried few i could, but seems i have mem loss abt that
    cheers helpers

Unfortunately if you cannot remember and the default 12345 code doesn't work then there's nothing that you can do yourself to fix it.
What you need to do is take your phone to a nokia care point and they will reset the code for you. This procedure may erase the contents of your phone.
They will also need to see proof of ownership before they will do it.

  • 6500 slide code problem

the key safety code is not 12345 .I have tried everything !what do I do?

    Hi elli,
Just got a reply back from Nokia and I have posted the reply that I received, hope that it will work for you
    wipperwill
Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.
With regard to your email, If your phone is prompting you for a security code and you have not activated one, please try the following:
Enter the default security code: 12345. Only try this once.
If your phone still requests a security code, please bring it to the nearest Nokia service centre for inspection.
Please note that some operators configure phones so that they only work with their SIM cards. In this case, if you enter the wrong code three or more consecutive times, the phone may lock permanently. If this happens, contact your operator or service provider for assistance.
In other cases when you enter the wrong code three or more consecutive times, the phone switches to a "sleep mode" and does not accept any entries for the next 15 minutes. In this case, power the phone off, then back on, let it sit idle or untouched for 15 minutes, then try again or bring it to a Nokia Care Point.
Contact details of your nearest Service Point can be found at:

  • Phone Unlock/Security Codes

    PIN (Personal Identification Number) Code
This is the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card PIN code which is only available from your network.
    PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code
If you enter the wrong PIN Code more than 3-5 times you will require the PUK Code to unlock the SIM card. Once again this code is only available from your network.
    Security/Lock/Unlock Code
The default unlock for most Nokia phones is 12345 unless you have changed it. Normally this code can only be reset by the Nokia Care Points. You will need to provide proof of purchase. However a few S60 models can be reset to the default code by reformatting the phone.
There have been cases of this code being changed by certain networks. When this is the case, the security code will be on the label on the box, close to the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) number. This number will be a 5 digit number but not necessarily marked as a security code.
Some S40 5th edition phones, such as the 6500 Slide or 6301, don't always have a preset lock code. In these cases, you will be prompted to create the code the first time you try to perform an action that needs one (such as clearing logs or restoring factory settings). You can also create the code from the Settings>Security>Access Codes menu.
    Restriction Code
This is the code to remove networks restrictions (also known as a SIM lock) and is available from the network. See this post for instructions on how to use this code.

  • Unlock my Nokia 6500 slide

    good evening,
I bought a mobile (Nokia 6500 slide) with SFR in France. I missed six months and I wanted to unblock it but the code to disable the restriction, is not good and he told me that this is a problem that needs to be addressed at Nokia. So I would like to know steps to unblock it, thank you.
    Best regards

I'm aware that SFR told you to contact Nokia, and they told you wrong.
What you should be aware of is the fact that mobile network operators do not hesitate to lie to their clients to make themselves look clean and shift the blame for any wrongdoing to the manufacturer.
If SFR got the restriction code wrong it is up to them to try again and get it right. SFR sending you to Nokia is not going to help because Nokia cannot generate the restriction code. These codes are the sole responsibility of the operators who enforce the SIM-lock, and the operators know this full well.
Try SFR again, but don't let them send you back to Nokia. Be persistent. If the front-line customer service is unable to help then ask to have the matter escalated to someone with half a clue who might actually know what he or she is talking about.
Also bear in mind that SFR are crooks as far as I'm concerned. They've tried everything in the book to extort money from me and succeeded on one occasion (charging me €7.50 for a PUK code given over the phone when no such code was given, I had the SIM-lock lifted from my phone more than 6 months after taking out the contract and it was supposed to be free).

  • Phone update for 6500 slide

I have used Nokia Software Updater before to update this type of phone and it updated okay to the latest firmware.
But this latest phone it won't recognise, i am using a standard nokia USB cable and it does keep losing connection so i thought it could be a broken cable but i think it could be the phone not being recognized as it came from China and seems to have Chinese Network and Pinyin branding because if you do a factory reset it defaults to Chinese language.
I am able to use Virgin Sim card and also eventually got T-moble internet access on the phone.
    Software Details are -
    V 05.41
    30-11-07
    RM-278
    (c) Nokia
It always defaults to upper case when texting.
Will debranding get rid of the chinese?

Please, try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool first. Is your Nokia 6500 slide shown in the Nokia Suite or the PC Suite? If not, is your phone correctly shown in the Windows Device Manager? If not, did you right-click in the Windows Device Manager and select ‘Update Driver …’?

If you want to get rid of this uppercase stuff (because of Chinese), you have to change the set of languages. The set of languages are determined by the firmware variant. And the firmware variant is determined by the 7-letter (product) code which is printed on the label underneath the battery.
If you change the model code (RM-xxx) you break your phone because those firmwares do not fit to the hardware (frequency bands, …).
Okay, changing the product code, officially only Nokia Care Points do that, officially. It won’t fix your Nokia Software Updater issue but that uppercase stuff.

  • Security Code Invalid preventing me from signing in to iTunes Store

I just got itunes today and I created an account but I can't actually do anything because as soon as I click "Sign in" for the itunes store, I get a message saying "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your information." The only options I have are "Review" or "Cancel". When I click "Review" it asks me to enter my credit card information. I enter it, but it tells me that my Security Code is invalid. Now I know there's a workaround by using this information: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 The problem is, I can't even log in to go to my account settings in order to re-enter my information. I know all the information is the same as what my bank has on record. Is there any other way to fix this issue? It's preventing me from using the iTunes Store.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • What is the default 4 digit factory security code on apple devices please ? is it 0000, 1111 ? i now have to wait 60 minutes to try again after 8 failed attempts. I dont believe i have set this code

can someone help please? I am trying to do a factory restore. I have tried the reboot/plug in to laptop and do it through itunes method and i got a failed message saying there was a glitch with the phone. I have never set a 4 digit security code in the settings menu where I could reset the device. I assume that there is a factory set 4 digit password as I have now tried every number that I would have used if I had set it myself. They are usual 0000, 1111 or something similar.
I really need this number to proceed without having to visit an apple store over 100 miles away.
    thank you

I have never heard of a Factory 4-digit passcode.  If you are the original owner of the iPhone you will need to go into DFU Mode...
First:  Put the device into DFU mode.
    DFU MODE STEPS
Hold the Power Button (3 secs)
Continue holding the power button and also hold the home button (15 secs)
Release the power button while continuing to hold the home button (10 secs)
Your device should prompt with the "Connect to iTunes Screen"
Second: Plug it into your computer and open iTunes. It will either prompt to restore and up date or you can manually restore using the following steps. IOS Restore Steps Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.
    Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
    Click Restore.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.

  • Nokia 6500 Slide SIlent mode makes noises

I have a Nokia 6500 Slide, and whenever I put it onto silent mode, it still makes a noise (i.e a standard message tone) to inform me that I have received a message/call. I go to profiles and select everything to OFF, but it still continues to do this.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

Try typing *#7780* and default code 12345. Backup anything you want to keep, usually restoring settings doesn't delete anything, but better to be safe than sorry!
What might have happened is you had put your phone on silent mode, and then later on changed the ringtone whilst still on silent mode.
