Security Code V.s Unlocking Code

Guys,
I've been reading the forum for a couple of weeks and have found it most informative. However I have a query which I'd like to clear up.
I have an old 8910 and was planning of passing this onto my father, it was previously used on O2 and my father's network is Orange, when we put the SIM in it is asking for a security code, I assume this is the security code and not an unlocking code it is wanting? It's just that I've tried all the security codes I thought I would have changed it to and neither of them work.
I just want to confirm that this is the security code and not an unlocking code as I don't want to look stupid when I take it to a Nokia Servicepoint! Thanks.
Chris

It is the security code asked when the setting to require it when a SIM is changed. By default on a phone that stting is off (and the default value for the code is 12345).

  • Need an unlock code

Hi, I'm new here, I have been trying to get an unlock code for my bbCurve 8310 from att, but because I canceled my contract a few days ago , they don't want to give me an unlock code,  can anybody offer any help as to how get an unlock code?

The unlock codes are sometimes provided by the carriers if you meet certain requirements -- which no longer seem to, hence their refusal to give you one. Therefore, your next options are fee-based...try HorzonWireless.
    Good luck!

  • Nokia N95 8GB unlock code?

hi i have this nokia n95 8GB i bought from ebay and its got some lock code on it and i dont know what it is, neither does the seller how do i reset the whole phone without needing to have put the lock code in?

Updating the firmware on an N95-2 will reset the security code to 12345.
However, your original query wasn't that clear. Is it the phone's security code you're asking for or the unlock code that allows you to use SIM cards from networks other than the original one the phone was used on (so-called restriction code)? Only the original network can provide the restriction code.
Also make sure that it is in fact a genuine N95-2 that you have. There are countless fakes on sale on eBay.

  • Unlock code help 9th try!

My wife has a Pearl w/ Verizon and had trouble unlocking it this morning. Now she is ready to try for the 10th time but does not want to lose her data. Is there any way to backup the Pearl without unlocking or will the phone reset the unlock attempts after a few hours?  she went to a college reunion last weekend and is sick that she might lose the info.  She tried to back it up this morning but had problems when she entered her unlock code. The Pearl is difficult with that unusual key setup.
    Thanks

No, there is no workaround or reset for a password.
You just must get the password entry correct. If someone, even RIM, could override your password, then the security features on which the BlackBerry reputation was build would all be a joke.
You need to read and appreciate the advice given to you above to assist you in getting the password correct.
Again, for instance, if your password contains uppercase or numerals, such as "1234", your actual password might be "1ers" IF you only held down the ALT key on the first character '1', and did not hold down the ALT key on the remaining characters. This is a common mistake of users, thinking their password is one thing and it is actually another.

  • Unable to unlock blackberry curve 3g 9300 with the unlock code

I have the same problem and could not unlock my blackberry curve 3g 9300 from Canada's wind network.
I have called my network provider twice and obtained the unlock code. I also called back to reconfirm the unlock code.
However each time I tried to unlock my blackberry curve 3g 9300 with the unlock code ,it refuses to unlock.
please assist me with a solution.

After the ten attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.
There are two routes, and only two, to achieve this.
    * IF your device is in warranty, contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to RIM level customer support. I'll warn you that most carrier technical support people will first assume and think you are referring to a device security unlock, and you will need to convince them otherwise and explain clearly what you need. THEY will not be able to help you because the carriers themselves cannot unlock a device which has had the MEP code attempts depleted, and should (and you will need to ask) to have the case escalated to RIM level tech support.
    * If your device is out of warranty, contact RIM direct. See the Contact Us information from the website: http://ca.blackberry.com/contact/ The options you want to select to speak to BlackBerry Customer Care are 3 (for inquiries, orders, billing, e-RMA etc) then 5 (e-RMA and Out of Warranty).

  • Nokia E51security code for keypad unlock

    Hy,
i would like to know if there's any way to set security code for keypad unlock? Or is it posible to set the phone lock under 1min (because the locking feature is given in minutes)?
    Thanks in advance

One minute is the minimum time, there is no way around that.
Go Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Security>Phone and SIM card>Phone autolock period>choose time
THe keypad autolock just locks the keypad, the phone autolock will demand the lock code to unlock. The standard lock code is 12345, you can change it to a code of your choice by going:
    Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Security>Phone and SIM card>Lock code.

  • Unlocking codes

I have seen many people ask about unlocking their code,
As you should know Nokia make phones, design phones and think of many different possibilities that can improve your mobility with communications.
Nokia make it so that networks can put in their own what we call networks and that so you are locked into using that ones network and no other. Nokia send these companies phones that are unlocked and all nokias programs set into them and everything.
If you look at it when you look at a pre-paid or post paid phone compared to a outright phone the price can vary massively and you will notice it is cheaper to buy the phone with your desired company. The catch is that your network has near enough control of your phone and you need to get an unlocking code from them NOT Nokia. By law they aren't supposed to restrict access to the code but they don't want you to leave making it so you have a massive fee if you leave within a certain time and a smaller yet a fee after a certain time.
With 3 some phones stupidly cannot be unlocked possibly to firmwares and that related but Nokia has nothing to do they only made the phone and that is it.
Asking here to have your phone will not work you can take your phone to nokia and they can scan your phone and morelikely not be able to see what your unlock code is. The company pays for the phone and may sell it at a "discounted" price or you pay for nearly the whole price over time or you can buy a phone outright at many neutral phone shops which are usually electrical stores, phones with more then just one network, etc.
    Thanks for reading this.

It's a simple code that all phone company has, why keep it a secret, ericsson use to publicise in their user guide as a default, in case you accidentally by mistake forgot your code.
I'm having problem with Phone Lock for a New Nokia N 85, whilst experiencing with it lock by itself and there are not Nokia Repair Shop in my country, the nearest is a 2hrs 30 flights at a cost of more than US$ 1000 just to unblock the phone lock, guys come on, be serious and provide the code and make our life easy.
This post is about network lock code and not the phone lock code.

There is no such thing as an unlock code.   Sprint may have processed the unlock, and then requested you restore the iPhone using iTunes to complete it. But that's it. There is no code to enter, and nowhere to enter it any way.

  • Why won't Apple give out the unlock code for an iPhone 3Gs when the contract was honored and I am still an AT

Why won't Apple give out the unlock code for an iPhone 3Gs when the 2  year contract was honored and I continued to be an AT&T customer with an iPhone 4. I wanted my old 3gs unlocked so my daughter could use it overseas when she is deployed. AT&T service over there *****, the international plan was not worth it. The individual SIM cards per country are much more reliable and cheaper. Teslestial in Iraq and Afghanistan, Telecom in Croatia,Vodafphone in Germany and Italy.  Why Apple will not unlock these phones for our military to utilize is incomprehensible to me.  These young men and women are fighting for these Apple people to go to work every day, safe, to live lives they have become accustom to yet releasing a phone to use on another network they can't do at least for the military.... WHY APPLE??  WHY?   A good excuse not some of the many lame excuses I have received on the phone many times. AT&T states it is Apple that will not allow them to unlock the phones...  Please tell me why?  All I want Is my daughter to have a phone I trust, to be able to call me when she is given the free time to do so and I trust the apple phone.
Apple, please reconsider your stance on this issue.  I am having a hard time understanding why you will not unlock the iPhone.
A simple code could allow me to talk to my daughter while fighting for our country the Great USA.  Apple should be on the front line and enabling those fighting for our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness to use unlocked phones on reliable local GSM networks.
I honestly hope that someone who has some sort of authority to begin allowing the release of unlock codes, and not forcing people to unlock their phones with some program produced by some hack just to be able to use your wonderful phone.  That is is in a nutshell, People love the iPhone so much that they want the ability to use it on the most reliable GSM carrier available to them.  That should be a major compliment. Even men and women on the front line want your phone. I agree, my service is not the best where I live either, love the GSM technology so stay with it, but if I had the ability to change to the other GSM network that has much better coverage in this area of the country I would change. To change now I would not have my iPhone and that I will not part with.
Apple, please reconsider opening up the lock code and allow your gem of a phone to be used by many more people in many more areas and most importantly overseas fighting for our country.  I know if this is really thought about Apple would understand and come to the conclusion to release the unlock codes, and stop the people from hacking in to use the iPhone on other networks.
I would love for my daughter to be able to use my iPhone 3gs while fighting for our Free country.
    A response would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
An Apple customer for 10 years, phones and computers.

    Defiled:
I did sign a two year contract and completed that contract. The 3gs is no longer in service. My daughter is going overseas to protect you and your family. I was attempting to find a way for her to have a reliable phone that could offer her some connection with home as she travels through the middle east.  She travels in missions all over.
At&T unlocks other phones of theirs why not the iPhone?  AT&T says that Apple will not give them the code, it is not the carrier.  If I would have known this situation would have come up I would have bought and unlocked 3gs phone"Deggie" .  My main complaint is that Apple has not good excuse as to why they will not allow their phones to be unlocked from services well, AT&T .  I bought the phone full price, completed the contract terms, even went for and iPhone 4 with another2 year contract, along with owning an apple computer... I love the product.  My main issue is give me a good answer as to why you won't allow a phone to be unlocked. It doesn't hurt Apple, People still have to buy the phones from them, and use their App store and iTunes.
Sorry, just upset about my daughter heading over there, boots on the ground, and just pray she will be safe. Would have liked to facetime her while she is in the airports and in specific areas allowed for that.
Please don't come down on me for asking this question. I understand all the contracts etc.... but to single out the iPhone specifically to not unlock after contract is over does not seem fair.
    Thank you for your responses.

It's good to read Antoniad's post.  It reassures me that I can use my new iPad as an international communication device which is the reason I purchased the thing.  However, I called Verizon today (my provider of cellular data) who told me that I can't just pop in a SIM card as you suggested.  He also said that he was from the "Pre-Pay" division of Verizon and he was certain that I couldn't do what I planned to do.  I was extremely disappointed as I had called Apple prior to buying the iPad and I read the algorhythm on the website for choosing an iPad before purchasing.  Those sources were quite specific and the information seemed clear.  I would be able to use my iPad to communicate through cellular connections while traveling on the road, literally, abroad.  I was told that I could pop in a data card wherever I was, just as you indicated in your message above, and voila I was good to go.  The Verizon rep definitively rained on that parade, but said that I might be able to do this if I have a "Post-Pay" account, a different area of Verizon.  I haven't had the chance to talk to this division yet, so I looked to Apple's Support for answers.  Maybe I will find out that I can use my iPad as an international communication device while traveling on the road afterall, however, it appears I may need a different type of account (Post-Pay), something I was never warned about. Can I switch to this kind of account?  I don't know.  I have to find out.  If you have any information about this issue, it would be good to share since I strongly suspect there are others who bought the iPad for the same purpose that I have.
