Security flaw in lock screen (iOS 7.0.4)

My 1-year-old just discovered a way to bypass the iPad lock screen...
1. Drag down notifications
2. Select a calendar appointment.
3. Press home.

  • Security Flaw: Since upgrading to iOS 8.3, I can by-pass passcode security by simply hitting RETURN on my bluetooth keyboard

I noticed when I typed my passcode incorrectly on my Logitech Fabric Skin Keyboard Folio, the iPad allowed me to log in.  I checked again, but this time by just hitting RETURN key without entering any passcode, and again it allowed me to log in.
If I disconnect the keyboard, and use the soft keyboard on the iPad itself, it only allows the correct passcode.
Has anybody else seen this security flaw?

    iOS 8.3

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The better your description, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What other changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

  • Turn off Group Message To: in Notification/Lock Screen iOS 8.3?

Updated to iOS 8.3 and now when group messages come in on my lock screen and notification center it shows all recipients of the message before the message, for example "To: John, Sarah, Ron hi how's it going?"
This is really annoying and hard to read, every time I read it I think the "To: John, Sarah, Ron..." is part of the message. Any way to turn this off?

Actually it doesn't fix my issue.  Apple still has added a line to the text.  After giving the group a name it now just says the group name instead of To:  ....
What I believe we are wanting, at least I am, is to have the second line of the notification be the text of the message, not who is in the group.  It should look similar to if it were an individual.
I still think Apple could have an option to turn it off.  It can't be that hard to add.

  • Email alerts not displaying in notification center on lock screen (iOS 7)

    Hi,
I am having issues receiving email alerts in the Notification Center when accessed from the lock screen.  I don't want to see the alert directly on the lock screen, only in the notification center.  Here are my settings:
So basically, the Notification Center is allowed on the lock screen, but the alert itself will not be displayed on the lock screen.  However, when I get a new email, it does not display an alert.  If I unlock the phone, and check the Notification Center, the alert is there.  If I turn the "Show on Lock Screen" setting on, then I do in fact get the alert both on the lock screen and the notification center.  What is really weird is that if I check the Notificaiton Center from the lock screen (where nothing is displayed), and then unlock the phone the alert is no longer in the Notification Center, as if I had already accessed it.
What is also strange is that these exact settings work perfectly fine for texts and fairly consistently for my personal email.  However, it has never worked for my work (Exchange) email.  In both cases I am using Push.
Is anyone else able to replicate this issue, or do you have a solution?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

Still an issue for me in 7.1

  • Stuck music controls in lock screen iOS 8.1.3

For some reason I have yet to analyze, my music controls display on my lock screen when there is no music or video app playing.  The controls are suck in "play" mode with the pause button visible but tapping it has no effect.  The clock and date do not display and I can only seem to rest the unit by performing a hard restart.
I am running a Verizon 64Gb iPhone 6+ and may take a wild guess that it has something to do with the YouTube app.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.

  • No wallpaper on Lock Screen IOS 8.1 iPhone 6

I can't get the Lock Screen Wallpaper to show.   Settings->Wallpaper->Stills->Choose->Set   Screen is either a light blank or a dark  blank depending on the image  selected.  The iPhone is NOT plugged into power.  Any ideas???

OK Got the answer now.  The background  disappears whenever the Starbucks passbook slider was visible on the lock screen.  I removed the slider and the background reappeared.  Can't remember it doing that before, but whatever ....

  • Lock screen ios 7

I have an iPad and I use an Apple iPad smart cover with it. It used to go straight to the home screen when I opened the cover, but after updating to ios7 I get the lockscreen when I open it and have to swipe to get access to the iPad. Is there anyway to bypass the lockscreen when using a cover as in the past?

I'm having the same problem and my Auto Lock is already set to Never. The problem is intermittent. Most of the time the Lock/Unlock feature works like it should but several times a day it requires me to swipe to unlock after opening the cover. This has only happened after updating to ios 7.

  • Possible security issue when locking screen

I am using an iMac with OS X 10.5.5. I have set up my system so that every time I switch on my iMac I have to login and I can also lock the screen.
I am also using iTunes 8.0.1 (11). I use GimmeSome Tune version 4.2 (2945) to automatically fetch lyrics and cover artwork. I leave the lyrics window in GimmeSome Tune open all the time. When I lock the screen the screen turns dark but the lyrics window stays visible. From the tab on the lyrics window of GimmeSome Tune, I can select fetch lyrics again. When I do that GimmeSome Tune fetches the lyrics and updates the current track in iTunes with the lyrics.
Technically GimmeSome Tune is updating a file from a manual user intervention when the iMac is locked and I am not logged in.
    My Concern:
I don't mind it when lyrics for a track is updated this way but using a similar way a confidential information on the iMac can be displayed and updated even though the iMac is locked.

That's the thing. The password is activated but still you can have Gimmesome tune update a track with he lyrics. You can try this out:
Start iTunes and start GimmeSome Tune (of course some track is playing)
Open the lyrics window from GimmeSome Tune
Lock the screen through Screensaver or keychain
Move the mouse and you will see the login screen and the GimmeSome Tune lyrics is there also.
Now from GimmeSome Tune lyrics window you can get a drop down menu, located on the lower left corner, and ask it to download lyrics to your track.
This is the problem I see. OSX should not allow this to happen when you are not logged in and the screen is locked.

  • Lock screen malfunctioning since last ios update.

Lock screen malfunctioning since last ios update.  Sudden access to music playback function while phone is  off, locked with password.  Access during lock screen has been turned off.

    Hi TTToo,
If you are having issues accessing the Control Center audio controls from the lock screen after a recent update, you may find the following article helpful. In particular, you may want to verify that it is still set to be accessed from the lock screen:

  • IOS 7.03 security flaw

There is still a security flaw in iOS 7.03 even after update on iPhone 5s. If you have control centre activated on the lock screen, press the home button while on standby, slide the control centre up and open, switch the torch on and off and the repeatedly press the home button. You'll be into your iPhone 5s without entering the passcode or using the finger print scanner.
Not good enough for a £500+ product. This needs rectifying immediately.

  • In iOS 7 you can still make calls from the locked screen. Just swipe the missed call numbers to the right. Is this a bug?

In iOS 7 you can still make calls from the locked screen. Just swipe the missed call numbers to the right. Is this a bug?

How is it a security breach? You're free to turn off lock screen notifications for the phone app so that no one can do that.... even if they can, they can only call the number that called you... nothing else. (well, except for 900 or whatever the emergency services number is where you are, but that's required by law).

  • Camera icon on lock screen in iOS 5.1 only makes lock screen jump on iPhone 3GS

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1 just now - and found the first bug within the first few seconds.
The camera quick access icon on the lock screen only makes the lock screen jump up and down a little, so about half of the photo app's lower bar, where the shutter, still/video icon etc. is, becomes visible for less than a second. And that's it.
I can't believe that nobody tested this on a 3GS.
It seems Apple got completely lost in stuffing in more and more frills and gadgets, everything after iOS 3.1.3 is way beyond a simple, clear and easy to use interface, and every little frill introduces more and more bugs and flaws. Having something simply and clear has been something that Apple was really good at - but that seems to be history.
Man, I'm SO annoyed - and SO disappointed.

Sorry, I meant swiping, not tapping.
It took me three reboots and one restore from the previous backup, only after that it started working as expected.
I also noticed that a lot of ram kept being marked as used although not a single app was running in the background.
Anyway - why did it need to be a swipe instead of a tap? One can only access it after a home button press - safe enough to not accidentally activate it.
I miss the possibility like in iOS 3 to assign the home button double-click to the camera start. THAT was really handy.

  • How can I turn off the ability to turn off the phone from the lock screen for more security?

How can I turn off the ability, to turn off the phone, from the lock screen for more security?

    There is no such option.
There will be some additional features included with iOS 7.

  • Security Flaw: Screen Saver Authentication

    Hi,
I have found a security flaw, it exists in both Panther and Tiger. If a system has 2 accounts, the first account being active and locked through a screen saver. The second account (if administrator) can type their username/password in the authentication screen, and it will unlock the first account. This works if the first account is an administrator or not. Any administrator username/password will authenticate any other account from the screen saver authentication box. I have proven this on 2 machines, a D2.5 G5, and a 1.6 iMac G5.
Please contact me for further testing.

it's not a TECHNICAL flaw, it is however a logical flaw, yes.
Because admins are part of the sudoers files, one admin does have the permission to unlock another admin like that, the same as how when logged in with one account you can use another admin account to authorize the installation of software (why it's not necessary to be logged in with your admin account)
The behavior I suspect you desire is the behavior Windows uses, where when you use an admin account to unlock a computer, it logs out the user who locked it (assuming the admin isn't the one logged in).
I suggest you submit a feature request to Apple.
