Extensions for windows intune

Hi,
I am trying to config MDM with SCCM + Intune, when i go to "Extensions for Windows Intune" in sccm console there is nothing in the middle pane, says "no items found". Product version is SCCM 2012 R2 and after seeing this applied CU
2 as well but no luck. Appreciate your help.

Consensus is that it takes about 3 beers for the plugins to show up after configuring the connector.

Cumulative Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 Warning!

Not sure how many of you guys remember the problems associated with the Windows XP Service Pack 2 when it was first released, but the latest Cumulative Security patch completely disabled my Plextor 708A DVD drive and locked up Windows Explorer.
Here is the problem patch:
o Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB883939)
It caused my Plextor 708A to give off two blinking Amber lights, which according to Plextor indicates the drive is defective. Plextor actually tells you to get a RMA ticket and to return the drive. Luckily I found it odd that my DVD drive became defective after I installed the latest windows update and tried uninstalling the 'fixes' before going that route. Fortunately, removal of one of the 'fixes' solved my problem.
If you find that your DVD or CD Player no longer works after doing a windows update, then do the following:
o Go to Control Panel
o Select Add Remove Programs
o Scroll to the bottom and select Security Update for Windows XP (KB883939)
o Click 'Remove'
o Restart your computer
I might not have the latest security fix right now, but at least my computer is running.
Stu: Can you report this to MSI and have them get in touch with M$?

Hi All,
Many users are facing problem with BI Template builder after upading Security Update for windows XP (KB936021).
If you load xml data into your BI template builder after updating windows security then you will see error <b>Compile error in hidden module module-starter</b>.
So please don't try to update this security. If you already have updated then remove this updates from your system.

thanks for the heads up but I would rather you log an SR or a bug to alert development and we can get things fixed rather than make an announcement to the forum. Thanks for the workaround but many folks incl myself are forced to take security updates.
I will alert the dev team and we will investigate the issue with hig priority.

Security Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3042553)

Hello,
Security Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3042553) has been advised to be critical update to deal with Vulnerability in HTTP.sys which could allow remote code execution.
However due to some reason I am unable to apply the patch to any of the Windows 2012 R2 servers. It errors - The update is not applicable to your computer, when tried to install manually / locally.
I tried to push it via WSUS and the patch is not getting detected by the servers.
Regional language settings are set to match Windows display language (Which is English).
Is anyone else experiencing this issue too? If so is there way to get this deployed please.

I suggest you check the file version of Http.sys and compare it with the one documented in the KB article below:

Hi Susan. I hope there's a better 'fix' coming to replace this "uninstall the updates, restore, then reinstall the updates after the restore". This kind of workaround requires that all of us remember that there's a problem
with KB3023562 and KB3004375 from now until the end of WS2012E. Not sure I'll remember this 6 months from now when the problem crops up during a restore. -:(

So, what to do now?

Adobe AIR 13 Runtime Security Bulletin for Windows or Mac

According to 5/13/2014 - Release - AIR 13 Runtime and SDK, the update for Adobe AIR 13 on 5/13/2014 includes fixes and security updates "Security update details can be found here: Security Bulletin (APSB14-14)", we have two questions:
1. Why the Adobe Air 13 runtime for Windows and Mac is not listed in the security bulletin APSB14-14, like APSB14-02?
2. Was the version released before Adobe AIR 13.0.0.111 for Windows Adobe AIR 4.0.0.1390 or Adobe AIR 13.0.0.83?

MacWorld did a comparative evaluation of the October 2008 MBA with 1.86 GHz processor and the Mid-2009 MBA with 2.13 GHz chip. Their conclusion was that that 1.86 CPU was actually FASTER than the 2.13 in most applications.

They speculated that the 2.13 chip was being throttled by Apple to control heat issues and that's why it tested SLOWER than the (supposedly) slower 1.86 part.
Have to wait for testing of these new MBA units to know if the same thing occurs. But, for the Rev. B and C MBAs, the 1.86 part was actually faster in real world use!

Extensions for Windows Intune are not populating

I have installed the Windows Intune Subscription and Added the Windows Intune Site Connector role. I am trying to manage Windows 8.1 phone, but no extensions have shown up in Config Mgr. Docs say that they will automatically populate. Is
there something that I am missing? Perhaps on the Intune Portal?

Have you seen any extensions previously - this is the third? You will only see them when you open the ConfigMgr console (not if it's already open). If not there is something wrong and you should review the logs Jason has referred to.

QUICKTIME 7.1.3 SECURITY UPDATE FOR WINDOWS? Where is it?

How do I get the security update (2007-001) for the WINDOWS version of QuickTime? Do I just download and install the standalone player again?
As an IT professional who is constantly trying to stick up for apple in a pro-Microsoft world, I find it ridiculous that there is no mention of how windows users can protect themselves from this security flaw, at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304989
It only talks about the OSX version, and the updater in the windows quicktime player just tells me it's up to date with 7.1.3... but 7.1.3 is the only version affected by the security flaw!

The solution for Windows clients is un-acceptable. This is a critical security flaw that could result of remote code execution and possible system compromise.
We cannot sit back and expect thousands of enterprise users to manually go out and update QuickTime. Worse yet if they didn't enable the updater when they installed QuickTime.
A separate downloadable patch for QuickTime for Windows needs to be made available ASAP whereas it can be deployed via existing distribution methods just like we do all other "Critical" security updates.
When will a downloadable patch be available?
If not, our only recourse may be to force the un-install of QuickTime as an unmanageable product.

With Cisco Secure ACS For Windows TACACS+, authentication fails with AD

I am setting up a Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 server to act as a TACACS server for Switches and Routers I am using Windows 2003 server for the ACS,
and a Windows 2003 Active Directory server. The AD server is fine, as it is used for many other things.
I have set up ACS as defined nit he installation guide, including all the steps in the 'Member Server' section of the install guide
when using AD as an external database (i.e. setting up the services to run with a domain admin account, setting up a machine called 'CISCO'
on the domain etc).
I've set the unknown user policy to use the Windows database if the internal database doesn;t contain the user details.
If I add a user to the internal database, the authentication goes through fine, with an entry in the 'Passed Authentications' log,

I've scoured google etc, and just cannot come up with any reason why this should be happening.

My previous version was 4.2 and it was installed on 64 bit machine hence getting internal Error.
After this answer i have upgraded it to ACS4.2.1 and its started working fine

When i try to install ASM, i found i have to install 'Oracle Grid Infrastructure'. ok, i went o Oracle download page, i found the 'Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0)'. But it only has Linux\Solaris\HP-UX\AIX\zLinux to choose from. Where can I found the Windows version?

Use Mac to download/burn security patches for windows xp machine?

Hi, I'm trying to migrate from windows xp to Mac mini. The xp machine is infected with something nasty (phones home whenever I connect), so I won't take it online, but want to get latest security updates.
Can I use the Mac to do this? i.e., if I download security patches from microsoft onto the Mac, burn them to CD, will they be readable on the XP machine?
The only OS on the Mac is OS X (10.4.8).

Sure. A file is a file is a file, and OS X burns CDs by default as ISO 9660, which is also readable by Windows. I've downloaded files on Macs, burned them to CD and opened them on Windows (and vice versa) countless times. Although nowadays I mostly use my USB keychain.

Security Update for Windows XP KB979482 Fails to Install

The KB979482 update continually fails to install with a 0x8007F007 error code. It has done so from Boot Camp 2.0 through 3.2. Windows XP Pro SP3 is installed and all other critical and optional updates have installed without problem. Currently running Boot Camp 3.2, OS X 10.5.6. As best as I can determine the error code means the update found the system waiting for a reboot following a previously installed update and cancels the installation. Of course there have been a number of reboots. I have tried to install the update with the Firewall and Bitdefender anti-virus on and off.
Any help is appreciated.

Ok slap me, the solution was too easy. Did a manual download of the update at the following address. Executed the downloaded file and the update installed. Checked that the updated was successfully installed by running Windows update and it no longer showed up as needing to be done.
