Security issue copying from local USB harddrives to local laptop.

This is strange. My boss has a new laptop and is running Windows 8.1 x64 as a Standard user. I copied a bunch of data from my PC(windows 8.1 x64) to a USB harddrive. I put the USB harddrive on her PC and tried to copy it to her Pictures
folder. I got an error that I don't have permissions...? This stumped me. If I share the USB harddrive from my PC, she can access it and copy the files to her laptop fine.
Today, I coped 2 files from my PC to a USB flash drive. I logged into my bosses laptop as Domain Admin. After inserting the USB flash drive, I couldn't copy the 2 file from the USB flash drive to the laptop C:\ or even to
the Documents folders. Permissions error.
What am I missing here...? even different USB HDs...

if you format the USB stick with exFAT it should be less problematic compared to NTFS
its clearly a permissions issue

Unkown error copying from external USB HDD

I copied all my files from Windows Pc to external USB HDD (FAT32). Now I can see the disc and the files on my new iMac, but I can not copy them.
Error -8062 unknown error comes up. What can I do? Same problem exists when copying from TimeCapsule drive.

The main reason for the appearance of this error message is incorrect permission settings of files and folders, or locked files, occasionally it can be caused by too full of Hard Drive.
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Also try repairing the external drive.

Slow File Copy from Local MacBookPro HD to Synology 270+ NAS Station

I have been reading through a similar problem from BO, but his problem was making copies between 2 external drives.
My problem, is using Finder, copying 90Gbs from the local iTunesMusic folder, to a Music folder on the NAS, by draging 'drop. It's not a slow copy, it's... endless. I was not able also to cancel the copy by clicking the "x" on the window.
I have tried to use iTunes with the Library\Import option, it was fast at beginning, but then it gets very slow. There were around 15000 files to copy, and during 2 full days, it has copied around 7000.
I have canceled everything, shutdown and reboot, and tried to copy them through Finder by d'drop, also very slow.
It really looks that when a directory/folder has too many subfolders, Finder has to run through all the FAT, every time, and then try to make the copy.
Please help, I am a 1 year hold Mac user, I have heard that Mac didn't manage very well with "tons of files", but this is hard to accept.

Ok, I think I've figured out the solution, to a large extent.
Apparently there is an attribute for SMB protocol that controls send buffer size and receive buffer size, on the server. On FreeNAS that is set to 16384 as default for both. I've upped it by 10x to 163840 for both, and looks like that solved the speed issue for "downloading" from NAS. Now my speed over WiFi for NAS to MBP transfer is peaking at 130mbps, and around 100mbps for "upload".
But one thing it did not solve is the consistency of the speed, while "upload" to NAS stayed rather consistent (around 80-100), the "download" transfer jumps A LOT, I'm talking a range of 500 kbps to 130 mbps, and everywhere in between. Seems to be completely random, it will sustain ~100 for some time, but at times will drop to 500 kbps, jump around for some time and then go back up to peak. Just plain random.
But at least I can now transfer 200MB file in about 15 seconds or so, on average, over WiFi.
Hoping the SMB consistency will be improved in the next OS release, but then again, I heard people were hoping for that for the past year or so. We'll see.

G56 will not start install after format and copy from recovery usb

so i just replaced the hdd in this laptop running win7. i am trying to fix the imminent hdd failure message for one of my mother's friends. anywho... i created the usb flash (13.5gb) and then replaced the hdd. went into the bios and enabled usb floppy and moved it up in boot order.
the pc boots into recovery fine. it formats and copies the files over also. what it will not do is reboot into the install of windows. all it wants to do is reload the recovery. i have tried many different ways of getting this done and nothing seems to be working.
at first the floppy was first. now i have it second, after the hdd. i have pulled the usb after the format and copy. i have left it in.
i dont know what else to do. any help from yall would be a wonderful thing.

Sounds like you are using the wrong restore disk to install Mac OS 9. The G5 came with its own restore disks to install Mac OS 9, and that version is 9.2.2. The restore disks for the G5 are labelled such.
If you purchased the G5 used from someone else, and they did not include the original disks, contact them for the disks. And if they lack the disks, ask them to call AppleCare and see if they can get the disks. If you lose the disks, and are the original owner of the machine as a new machine, call AppleCare and see if you can get the disks yourself.

Copying from a USB memory stick

Now i can access my iPhoto App (thanks to T. Devlin), I'm trying to import photos saved on a memory stick. When i try to import them, after about 10 seconds a message comes up saying; "The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly, click to relaunch.....", another message pops up; Saying; "Do you want to reset application settings for iPhoto, the application quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. Resetting application settings may fix problem". When i click reset and launch iPhoto's goes blank. Yet i have put saved camcorder movies on iPhoto from same memory stick with no problems.

1. Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at your iPhoto Library Folder - by default that's in your Pictures Folder. If iPhoto sees a valid library there it will open it.
Otherwise:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

The Volume is over than 400GB. Now there is not 100% Copy, some tracks are missed. Whats going wrong?

Install a webserver on same pc or server as the database. And than put the applet in the doctree. When you run the applet (start the page whicht contains the applet) it must work.
Signing is not that easy and I must search how i've done that.
For a signed applet you need a commercial certificate (verisign or something like that). You can also create certificates yourself but that will only work on the pc's where you install that certificate.
A commercial one will also work on other pc's (or the internet).
If you would like to know how to create a certificate than I must search first how I did it.

How do i copy files and folders from one external harddrive to another on the iMac?

For some reason when i drag the folder or file that i want to transfer or copy from one external harddrive to another, nothing happens when i drop it on the destination folder or drive. however, when i drag and drop to the desktop or any location on the Imac internal hardrive it works without any issue. The only problem is that i dont want to transfer or copy stuff to the computer. i want to copy it to an external harddrive. please help if your have answers to my question.

Check the formatting of the external hard drive. To do that, right click on the drive icon and select Get Info. (Or click once on the drive and type command +i ) The pane includes information about the drive format.
The drive should be formatted as Mac OS Extended. If it is not, run Disk Utility (App;ications / Utilities) and format the drive.

Clean install on new 1TB hdd, Yosemite keeps freezing when copying data from an ext drive and also from a usb

I'm trying to figure out why my macbook keeps freezing when I try to drag my data across to it (even small files from a USB).
I've had to force restart over a dozen times today :/

Thanks - I had a 1TB hdd in my macbook for about 12 months but it started playing up a few days ago (I got the question mark folder on bootup) so I bought another 1TB hdd (same model) and started from scratch.
My macbook is an early 2010... now I'm wondering if Yosemite is a bit too much for it?
The ext hdd is my timemachine backup, so yes I have used it often and it has my TM backups - and the usb is a new usb which Ive used a few times.
The issue seems to be when Im transferring files from an ext drive to my mac. I can use it fine and browse (worked find for 45 mins) then I tried to bring my data across.. and it copied a few gig over before total freeze.
This has happened about a dozen times.
I keep running disk utility and checking the disk. I also just ran the apple diagnostics tool that came in the apps cd - the hardware apears to be fine.
I have a 250 gb partition for the OS and the rest is my second partition for data.
I'm now wondering if I should reformat the first partition, install leopard from the CD, then upgrade to mavericks and leave it at that.
Any thoughts would be awesome. Thank you for reading and replying!

ITunes 7 and USB Harddrive issue

Everytime I install the new version of iTunes, it drops my USB Harddrive from the computer. The system thinks the drive is empty, yet all my folders are there, just no files. I do a system restore and no iTunes, but I can then see everything on the harddrive. What is causing this? I get an error that says failed to write to drive G: after the install which G: is the USB harddrive. Never had this issue before the update, and can't get back to version 6 now. So of course I can't update my ipod now.

Similar problem - when I upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2.16, my USB connected camera, my pen drives, and my iPod nano all stopped working.
I don't want to re-install my OS there has to be a reason

Can security information be simply copied from one server to another?

In WL6.1, we managed to set up a build and deploy system, with an RDBMS realm,
using ant. What we did is that we created a config.xml file, put it in our CVS
and modified it manually when needed. However, using this system, we always had
a one-step process for configuring and adding new information in our realm. Can
I expect to be able to do that with 8.1?
I'm not too clear on the entire JAAS principles involved and it does seem to be
more complex than in 6.1. We do a lot of automated testing and need a way to test
our security where we don't need to continually do manual labour.
My impression is that in our production environment, we will need to:
- Create a new server and domain manuall
- Configure the initial Realm manually
- After that, manual changes in our config.xml should be able to work correctly
Am I correct in my assessment? Or are there some peculiarites to the whole security
system that would prevent me to do what I want without a lot of manual intervention?

Yes you can copy from one server to other server but make your that you change the restiry.xml file correctly.
1 what are the changes we need to do?
Major thing is you need change few path from following files.
from %BEA_Home%
-- .home
-- registry.xml
-- domain-registry.xml
Wlserver_103 folder
-- .home
--.product.properties
Majorly path changes from common / bin folder and server / bin folder in startup scripts.
-- Majorly you need maintain same folder structure for your Domain or BEA Home.
-- Thats it make your JDK are available on setted path.
Note when you copy directly in similar folder structure major issue will be solved out.

New harddrive not boting from recovery USB

Hi,
I have Windows 7 HP pavilion G6 laptop. Its hard drive had fatal error. I replaced the hard drive. I have system image on portable hardrive. I also have system recovery on USB.
New hardrive is not booting from recovery USB. If I use system image from portable harddrive, laptop does not recognize the system image.
I also download windows 7 image on DVD from digital river but it does not recognize windows image.
Any advice ?

When you try to boot from USB Recovery-are you getting any error messages?
When you try to boot from the Windows dvd from Digtal River-are you getting error messages?
Btw, are you tapping Esc key immediately after powering on, then tapping F9 Boot options to select the USB Recovery as boot device?

Download doc problem when copied from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES to local table

As the subject indicatesm, I am experiencing problems downloading a document I have copied from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES to my local table FILE_SUBJECTS
and would be very grateful if someone could help.
Here is the problem:
I can successfully upload a document into APEX_APPLICATION_FILES and dowload it from there too.
I can copy the record from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES into my local table FILE_SUBJECTS and delete that entry from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES but I cannot download it from my local table, it keeps pointing me to a page which cannot be found, so I'm guessing there is something wrong with either, my INSERT INTO statement or, my link in the report.
My INSERT INTO statement is:

If you are running XE or running with the EPG versus the http server, you need to grant access to the procedure you are using for it to be run properly..

Well , I tried that from winXP to winXP on another machine and it worked great :

Copy file from local system to Azure VM using powershell

Is there a simple powershell command to copy a small file from local computer to Azure VM. Point to Site is not an option for me.
I am hoping for something simple like
Copy-Item C:\Wabash\Logfiles\trasfer.txt -Destination C:\Presentation -ConnectionUri $uri -Credential $credential
similar to Invoke-Command
The only other option i have seen is
