Security-Kerberso Errors on some machine
Hello,
The reason why i'm writing is because, recently we have seen some strange DFS issues, where clients aren't able to connect to their DFS mapped drives. flushing DFS cache or DNS cache or rebooting client seems to fix issue. We have also had
to reboot a DFS server, since it was hung in the past. So, I have ticket open with MS and can't find any DFS related issues from event logs.
I see a Kerberos error in event logs on both DFS servers and some clients that have the issue and I"m wondering if this is the cause of problems. Please see Kerberos error below and let me know what you think. I want to also add that we
have direct access server and i'm seeing "isatap.ipv6address" when I run ipconfig on these servers and clients..
"The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server hq12-dfs2$. The target name used was HTTP/HQ12-DFS2.hhmi.org. This indicates that the target server failed to decrypt the ticket provided by the client. This can occur when the
target server principal name (SPN) is registered on an account other than the account the target service is using. Ensure that the target SPN is only registered on the account used by the server. This error can also happen if the target service account password
is different than what is configured on the Kerberos Key Distribution Center for that target service. Ensure that the service on the server and the KDC are both configured to use the same password. If the server name is not fully qualified, and the target
domain (HHMI.ORG) is different from the client domain (HHMI.ORG), check if there are identically named server accounts in these two domains, or use the fully-qualified name to identify the server."
They basically want me to enable all Kerberos encryption types and then disjoin/join my DFS servers from domain. I"m doing it tonight, so we will see what happens. I actually haven't had the DFS issues, since I posted this question in forum.
I will still implements their recommendations.
Step 1: adjust the supported Kerberos etype
====================================
a. Run GPMC on one 2008R2 DC or 2012R2 DC, Edit Default Domain Policy.
b. Navigate to Computer Configuration\ Windows Settings\ Security Settings\ Local Policies\ Security Options\Network security: Configure encryption types allowed for Kerberos
We need to select Define these policy settings and all the six check boxes
c. After that, please run GPUPDATE /FORCE to take effect. After it is done, please restart all the DCs after business hours.
Step 2: Disjoin and Rejoin DFS namespace servers to the domain (one by one)
==============================================
1. On HQ12-DFS2, please delete it from the namespace server first
2. Then, disjoin the server from the domain.
3. After a reboot, please rejoin the server into the domain
4. Add it into DFS namespace
5. Then, perform the above steps on HQ12-DFS1 again.

Error in some of the login modules
`Hi Experts,
I have deployed SPNEGO and when user trying to login to portal, it gives the error as taken from diagtoo(below)
Also would like to inform you that when I have configured the wizard, some how in VA for lots of the Components in Security
provider, I found lots of those components does have the value for the Evaluateticket, evaluateAssertion, basicpassword,
createticketlogon did not had any values to it.
The components which I have updated are,
1. sap.com.lcr*sld---> I have added for EvaulateTicketloginModule and EvaluateAssertion ticket module like
ume.configuration.active true
trustediss1 OU=J2EE,CN=ABC
trusteddn1 OU=J2EE,CN=ABC
trustedsys1 ABC,555
and for CreateTicketLoginModule
ume.configuration.active true
Like wise done for the following components also.
2. sap.com/sap.comtckmc.coll.room.wsdeplRoomABAPWS_config1
3. sap.com/sap.commonitoringsysteminfo*sap_monitoring( here only 3 login modules present. so updated accordingly
to the above mentioned values for whatever loginmodule was present)
4. jmx~spnego was not having the template as SPNEGO so selected SPNEGO template and updated whatever ( 5 login module accordingly)

HCM form hangs on some machine
Hi,
We are having problem that HCM forms hangs only on certain machines. Its spins forever. No standard or custom event can be submited. Exactly same forms from the same location works fine on other machines. it looks like setting on some machines blocking request.
Does anyone have any ideas of what's wrong?

Error 32809 on some machines after Update December 2014
A user
reported an error
in a German forum that an Excel file throws the RTE 32809 on some machines.
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/65025f6a-cf64-486a-b68d-9825e9d304d2/fehlermeldung-32809-seit-sicherheitsupdate-vom-09122014?forum=officede
The error occurs on very simple code lines, e.g.:
Worksheets(strWshName).Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Einstellungen").Select
There is nothing unusual in the file, only
Office own controls and some simple macros.
I can reproduce the issue with my virtual machines:
Windows Vista - Office 2007
Windows 7 64-bit - Office 2010 32-bit
Windows 8.1 64-bit - Office 2013 64-bit
But the error does not occur on my main machines:
Windows 7 64-bit - Office 2010 32-bit
Windows 8.1 64-bit - Office 2010 32-bit
The error is permanent on my virtual machines, even if I run Windows-Update and install all updates.
I have
permission to offer
the file for download:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35239054/Samples/Wochenzettel%20MitarbeiterName.xlsm
The user reports
that the
file works on about 80% of the machines
in the company, but
produces the error on
the others.
Therefore, this issue it
is probably caused by an update.
Deleting
the *
.exd files does not help.
Can
anyone tell me which update is missing or wrong?
Andreas.See https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3025036/en-us and
https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-082
It's update 2596927 for Office 2007, 2553154 for Office 2010, and 2726958 for Office 2013.

Errors with USMT 4 Loadstate on some machines. Win 7 OSD
In my test lab my Win 7 OSD is working fine restoring user data with USMT hardlinking. As I started to test it on real machines in our test lab with real user profiles and data I started to see failures on some machines on the USMT data restore step. Below
is a section from my LoadState.log file that stood out to me with fatal "out of memory exception" errors.
Has anyone run into this issue before with USMT 4 ? Again in my test lab I see it restoring my profile fine but on machines with more profiles I have this problem.

Have you joined to the domain yet? You need to be joined to the domain before loadstate runs so that it can map the SID to the username. I believe this is your problem just move
the domain join before your restore step.

Excel spreadsheet being opened in preview mode by some machines
I would really appreciate it if someone could help with a problem that is confusing me.
I am developing an Excel spreadsheet containing a number of macros that are actioned mainly through the use of an ADD-INS customised menu.
The spreadsheet has been deployed across about twenty systems running a mixture of mainly windows 7 64 bit machines with Office 2010 or 2013 installed.
For several weeks each spreadsheet has been updated periodically as new functionality has been added. This has not been a problem until now.
Some, but not all, when they try and open the new version of the spreadsheet get an error 'Application-defined or object-defined error' a number of machines experienced this same problem all at the same time, but not all.
I have ruled out it being an Office version number problem because in both 2010 and 2013, some work some don't.
I can reproduce the exact same problem on the machines that don't have the problem by opening the spreadsheet in preview mode.
I can find nothing that is forcing the problem machines to open the spreadsheet in preview mode and the difference between the previous version of the spreadsheet and the latest version are relatively minor, but the previous version works and the latest version
causes some machines to throw an error.
The section of code that is being highlighted is checking the sheet protection, I have isolated the code and inserted it into a test excel file and it works fine on the machines that are experiencing the problem, so it doesn't seem to be a coding problem.
I feel that I have effectively ruled out any problem with the code itself and so instead concentrated on it being a "preview" mode problem.
I found that if I opened the new version up on the problem machine and applied a self digital certificate to the VBA code and saved it locally then I could get the problem machine to open the new version without an error.
I can't see any need for doing this though, there is no digital certificate on the original spreadsheet and when I isolated the highlighted code I was able to create a spreadsheet on the same development machine and send it over to a 'problem' machine and that
spreadsheet opened and ran just fine.
I am therefore now very confused. This latest version of the spreadsheet is being opened by let's say 50% of the machines in what appears to be preview mode. The machines are all part of the same network and I have checked that they all have the latest Windows
updates applied and all have the same Excel options settings.
I have checked the security levels and all the machines seem to be set up the same.
I have doubled checked and there is no digital certificate on the original spreadsheet.
I need it to work the way it did before, i.e. each computer receives a new version and can open it without any messing around.
The new version is copied from a networked folder so I have been able to rule out any Outlook security messages to do with email attachments.
Can anyone shed any light as to what could be going on?
Why are some machines opening this particular spreadsheet up differently to every other spreadsheet?
As it suddenly happened across multiple machines at the same time I was looking at possible Windows updates causing the problem but I have applied all the window updates to two machines and one works and the other doesn't.
I'm running out of ideas.Hi Jeffrey
>> Excel spreadsheet being opened in preview mode by some machines
>>>Is it caused by the custom code, could you reproduce this issue without the custom code?
I can't seem to isolate the code to cause the problem, when I isolate the code it works.
>> New version of the spreadsheet get an error 'Application-defined or object-defined error' a number of machines experienced this same problem all at the same time
I>>>’m not sure whether it was caused by Microsoft Security Bulletin MS14-082.
>>>Here is a KB for your reference: KB3025036
I have had this problem but managed to resolve that by deleting the .exd files.
>> However it is still a problem for the first machine that experienced the problem, even though the Windows Updates are wholly up to date.
>>>Currently, I’m not able to identify the root cause of this issue, but if this issue could only be reproduced on a specific machine, I will suspect this issue is related to a specific environment. If this is an urgent issue, I will recommend you
creating a support incident so that the engineers could work closely with you to troubleshoot this issue in a deep level, if the support engineer determines that the issue is the result of a bug the service request will be a no-charge case and you won't be
charged.
I have now installed the same spreadsheet on 20 machines.
15 - installed without any problem,
3 - experienced the problem but then mysteriously worked a few days later without me doing anything other than trying again.
1 - worked only after I digitally certified the VBA on the local machine,
1 - I can't get it to work at all no matter what I do. (Edit the VBA locally, digitally certify the code etc)
I have another 4 machines that need to be done.
For the 1 that I can not get to work at all I have checked that all the windows Updates have been applied. It is a relatively new desktop PC running Windows 7 64 bit and Office 2013.
Does any of that suggest a possible cause? To me it almost suggest a windows update is resolving the problem but if it is it is proving difficult to pin down as to which one.

SCCM client not registering on some machines
Hello,
I am running across a strange problem that is only affecting some machines. We are imaging via OSD task sequence, 2012 R2 and some machines do not register properly with SCCM. When I say not registering, I mean it doesn't get its Site code and
missing most of its actions. Most machines that we image work fine, but the odd one doesn't register using the same task sequence that we use on other PC's. When I watch the task sequence steps go through I noticed that right after the installing SCCM
client step it boots right into windows. Basically skipping the steps we have set afterwards, the next step is to install some software (adobe reader, SCEP, and a few others).
I also noticed it seems to happen more often with certain model machines. I have an HP Z420 and an HP Folio 9470m. These consistently fail to register everytime I image.
I've tried quite a few fixes I found online, but nothing has worked as of yet. The most recent fix I tried was to delete the hardware inventory and then rebuild it. That did not work. Entering SMSMP= in the Setup Windows and Config manager step also did
not work. I also tried entering in our DNS server into the registry under the CCM directory. It appears something is happening during the client install (or not happening). But why only certain machines? Most work fine.
Our fix is to simply re-install the client after imaging, this solution has been working for us but I want to find a more permanent solution.
Any ideas?Jason,
We have this line in the Setup Config Manager,
PATCH=C:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\PNS00002\Updates\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2970177-x64.msp
Keep in mind, that this same task sequence works fine with most other machines. It almost appears to be model specific. Certain models definitely have more issues registering than others.
I'm still fairly new to SCCM, so if you need more from the logs let me know.

BSOD with both Kernal Security Check Error and Bad Pool Header.
All -
I have a HP DV7 laptop with Windows 8.1. It has BSOD with both Kernal Security Check Error and Bad Pool Header.
Despite doing all the built in HP tests, there is nothing. Using an Anker HardDrive Dock results in the identical errors on another machine.
Bottom line, even if I could see the DMP files (which I cannot); because the machine fails to boot, there are no files to be copied.
I have tried various AIO and UEFI disks and USB, and the laptop NEVER accepts the PREINSTALL environment. Being unable to use the Anker has never happened. I seem completely locked out of the drive. Any suggestions? Thx.
Bruce A AdesHi Texas_Bruiser
Some required details are needed for us to help you.
Ensure that the BIOS/UEFI has been configured to allow boot from DVD/CD or USB.
When you attempted to boot into PREINSTALL environment (PE) by using disks or USB, we need more details about error message or what happened?
If your computer cannot even boot into Windows PE by using installation media, we suggest you check if memory and other hardware are works properly on this computer. Also try to plug this hard disk on other computer as data volume, see if the hard disk works.

File not found error on some computers running the same program
Dim pList As System.Diagnostics.Process
retval = 0
PTRName = "F:\myprogram.exe"
If My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(PTRName) Then
System.Disgnostics.Process.Start(PTRName)
pList = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses
For each proc As System.Diagnostice.Process in pList
If proc.ProcessName = "myprogram" Then
retval = proc.Id
Exit For
End If
Next
If retval > 0 then
'continue
Else
'error message
End If
End If
PTRName = "F:\myprogram.exe"
If My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(PTRName) Then
Retval = Shell(PTRName,4)
If Retval > 0 Then
'Continue
Else
'Error message
End If
End IF
I have created a program which:
opens a file
reads the records and massages the records
writes the records to a new file
Launches a program that uses the resultant file.
The program was written on Windows xp MCE using Visual Studio 10. The resulting program works fine.
I places The executable and the input file onto a flashdrive, and then tested it on other machines.
Two of the machines are both Win 7 Pro 64bit with .Net 4. On one machine it works great. On the other I get a "File not found" error when starting the second process. This is the failing code:
The problem is with the Shell command. When I rewrite it as:
it works on both machines
So my question is: Why does exactly the same code (The same flashdrive was used on both machines) work on one machine and not the other (when both machenes appear to be at the same level)?
In both cases I verify the file exists in the correct place before I try to start it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
JohnThe use of F is just an example. I use:
OutputPath = My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath 'Where app is run from (root)
'Make sure the path ends in \
If VB.Right(OutputPath, 1) <> "\" Then
OutputPath = OutputPath & "\"
End If
to get the correct information.
Then
PTRName = OutputPath & "myprogram.exe"
BTW "myprogram.exe" is not the correct name it is just an example.
Sorry if this caused confusion
However all of this is not the point. If:
My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(PTRName)
is true then the file is in the right place. Therefore:
Retval = Shell(PTRName,4)
must also work. However it does not on some machines.
Is the problem in .Net, VB or VS because it is not in my code.
I have also used a routine similar to you (in VB6) to find a particular volume, but used the volume label. That worked better in my case.

DaRT with Windows 8.1 not working on some machines
Problem: x64 bit DaRT8/801/8.1 not recognizing the OS and utlities are greyed out/unavailable on some machines.
System: Windows 8.1 x64
Steps taken:
Tried different DaRT toolset versions, set BIOS SATA operation to different modes, tried both UEFI and Legacy mode secure boot mode off/on, created the DaRT image with Windows 8 installation media and Windows 8.1, tested the DaRT boot iso on Virtual Machines
and it worked, all the utilities available.
Eventually gave up and booted into MiniXP from Hirens boot CD and reset the local account password with NTpass tool.
Why would DaRT work on some machines and not on others? How was the SATA configured originally? If it was configured for RAID/AHCI and the DaRT disk does not have the RAID/AHCI driver the operating system may not be detectable, even if the mode is changed in the firmware.

Hi all,
I am running a fail over cluster of

Virtual Host:

I have attempted a live migration through VMM 2008 R2 and im presented withe the following error:

Virtual machine XXXXX could not be live migrated to virtual machine host xxx-Host01 using this cluster configuration.
(Unspecified error (0x80004005))
What i have found when running the cluster validation:
1 out of the 2 hosts have an error with RPC related to network configuration:
An error occurred while executing the test.
Failed to connect to the service manager on 'xxx-Host02'.
The RPC server is unavailable
However there are no errors or events on host02 that are showing any probelms at all.
In fact the validation report goes on to showing the rest of the configuration information of both cluster hosts as ok.

If it was an RPC connection issue, then i shouldnt be able to mstsc, explorer shares to host02. Well i can access them, which makes the report above is a bit misleading.
I have also checked the rpc service and it has started.
If there is anyone that can shed some light or advice me oany other option for trouble shooting this, that would be greatley appreciated.

Kind regards,

[Bug] Blank page on some machines after upgrade to 4.2.2
Hi all,
I'm getting a totally blank page when opening the standard page http://server:port/apex on some machines.
It looks like a redirect is missing on machines that show empty page.
Setup:
Oracle GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 3.1.2.2
APEX Listener 2.0.0
APEX 4.2.2
Using Chrome to debug what's going on I have following results:
Working machine:
Step | Path | Method | Status
1. | apex | GET | 301 Moved Permanently
2. | apex/ | GET | 302 Moved Temporarily
3. | apex/f?p=4550:1:8468626825484 | GET | 200 OK
Non-Working Machine:
Step | Path | Method | Status
1. | apex | GET | 301 Moved Permanently
2. | apex/ | GET | 200 OK
Even the Content-Length of the response is 0.
Next test was to directly go to the application builder logon by using http://server:port/apex/f?p=4050.
Working machine opens the page fine, but non-working displays error "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error".
Another difference I noticed is that for working machine I see the cookie for username and workspace being used, this does not show up on the non-working machine.
Edit:
I checked out an idea that this is really related to cookies.
Deleted the cookie to remember workspace and user on the working machine and easily turned it into a non-working machine...
Does anybody have a clue what's going on?
Regards,
Moritz
Edited by: commi235 on 29.04.2013 18:06Hi Christian,
I did not see any errors in the APEX Listener logs.
Then I tried removing the complete APEX environment from the database and freshly install 4.2.2, this did not change anything. :-(
However as I had to somehow restore operations we did a restore to just before the installation of APEX patch 4.2.2
Meaning we reverted everything on the database back to 4.2.1 leaving Glassfish and APEX Listener in place, this works without any flaws.
Afterwards I upgraded the APEX Listener to 2.0.1 and it is still working fine.
Unfortunately there was no time to really dig into the issue but I strongly suspect something is wrong with 4.2.2 as same issue came up even with fresh install.
When I have some spare time next test will be to set up a new environment from scratch in a virtual machine and do some testing there.
Regards,
Moritz -
UnsatisfiedLinkError procedure could not be found (on some machines)
I am getting an unsatisfied link error: could not find the procedure.
But only on some machines, I have gotten it to work on more than one machine, but it will not work on a few other machines. 3 it has worked on, 3 it has not.
All machines are using:
-Tomcat 6.0.14
-JRE 1.6.0_04 i586
-JRI (Java to R connector http://www.rforge.net/JRI/)
-R 2.5.1 (http://www.r-project.org/)
-XP Pro or XP tablet ed
-Most are 32 bit centrino duo CPUs, one is a 64 bit core 2 duo
All machines have "./R/R<version>/bin" and "./JRI" included in the system path so that JRI and R native libraries are available for use from JNI.
I have traced the dependencies for JRI.dll from one machine that it works on and one that it does not work on. Sorry it is so long.
This is from a working machine:

Presumably when you load the library you are not eating exceptions.
Thus if the load library call had failed you would see that exception
and you have verified that exception is not occurring?
Obviously if that step is working on all machines then it would be pointless
to look at directories because it would mean that the library is being found.
You have verified that nothing with the same name exists anywhere else?
Presumably one of the following is true
1. The library is new.
2. The library is a replacement - it is in fact being replaced with the new version? -
My Adobe Reader Plugin does not Load in Some Machines
Hi ,
I have created a Plugin for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X.
As per the licence it has to work with both the version.
My plugin gets loaded in Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X versions only in development machines and few of the testing machines and My plugin works fine in these machine as per the task it has to do.
I tried to test My plugin in some machines which has same configuration as that of the machines where My plugin was able to load, but i could see My plugin loaded only in some machines and all other machine its not getting loaded.
Please some one let me know why is this happening and how to overcome this. I think i am missing something to load My Plugin but in some machines i was able to load My plugin without doing any settings other than copying My plugin's .api file to Reader Plugin's folder.
Thanks in advance. Please some one help me out.Hi Irosenth ,
I was getting the below error when i saw the EventViewer.
Error : Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins\MyPlugin.api". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",typ e="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
Now i added the required Redistributables while packing all the files and tested it in target machine..
All is Well Now..., Thanks you Very Much. ...
Thanks and Regards,
Chetan
