Security lock icon keeps "unlocking"

I am posting this question as I do not understand why the security lock from the security panel keeps unlocking all by itself. I go to preference panel...click on he security icon, make my changes, lock the preference with the lock and put my system to sleep. The next day when I go to the same location is shows unlocked.
weird. Perhaps someone can shed some light.

It is, in general, a good idea to go to >System Preferences...>Security, and check "Require password to unlock each secure system preference"

Well jimmy. My present network doesn't show that, but lemme try to explain. Its just somehow refers to an unsecure connection voice and data connection.
Like in secure connections, there's a padlock. Here, the padlock isn't locked, instead its locking lever is turned to the other side indicating an unsecured connection. That's all it is.
Keypad lock is usually a key symbol instead of a padlock.

You have to know the old password in order to change to the new one if you select the user anyway, so no.

Locked networks keep unlocking

I lock my network by clicking on the lock icon in network but the next day when I look at it it is unlocked, how do I keep it locked and why is it unlocking?

Last time bottom view side would have security icon to show it's safe/ secure website. But New 4.0 does not show anything at the bottom. How do we know it's safe side to search...?

The Statusbar is gone and the "lock" with it. Security information about a web page is shown by the Site Identity Button.

Security lock behavior

The security lock icon on the sys prefs date & time window takes 2 or so minutes to appear in the window. While waiting, the "beachball" spins away until the lock suddenly blinks on.
This only occurs when the lock is in the "open" state. When closed, everything behaves normally.
I set up a second user, and the same problem occurs, again only in the unlocked state.
This happens only in the date & time window.
Anyone have any idea why this strange behavior?

What happened to the lock icon when using SSL? Cannot easily determine SSL use without using sniffer.

The SSL lock icon does not appear in new Firefox 4 during use of SSL. Why was it removed? Only method of determining successful SSL use is through the use of a sniffer and netstat. There is no obvious lock anywhere in the browser while using SSL

Have you tried resetting it. You do this by holding down the home( white middle button) and the Menu button at the same time. Keep holding until it comes back on. I had the same problem and it worked after holding for about 10 seconds. Also if you need technical help call a local store and talk to the phone rep. They will often give you tips without charging you the $35 that the Apple Phone Service charges you just to help you. Good Luck! Jim

You could try changing the settings in System Preferences/Security & Privacy/General/Advanced/Require an Administator password to access locked preferences
But this will affect all Preference settings.

Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. With Firefox 4.0 I cannot find a lock icon designating a secure site even though it is indicated by "https". Is this an omission or do I need to turn on the feature?

The redesign of the browser for Firefox 4.0 seems to be missing the display of the lock icon that I am accustomed to looking for when seeking assurance that the site I am visiting is using Secure Socket Layer protection for my personal information. I can see the "https" designation in the address line but miss the added confirmation provided by the lock icon. I am running Windows XPPro SP3 and using Classic views instead of the standard XP theme - could this have something to do with it or do I need to turn on an option to have the lock shown?

Can you use an app without needing to unlock security lock?

My son has an iPhone 4 and I set up a password on it, so he doesn't use it for inappropriate usage. But, when he is home alone I sometimes have to call to check on him. He clearly receives the call, but cannot answer it because I had set up the security lock. Can someone please find a solution to this? Especially Apple? I would love to find out that Apple makes an update for this! The only thing you can do without unlocking the phone is the Camera.

It is not necessary to type your passcode when answering an incoming call. The "slide to unlock" button will instead display "slide to answer" while the iPhone is ringing. The call is answered immediately after sliding the button.
Are you sure that it is asking for the passcode?

Safari 8 not displaying lock icon for https secured websites

It seems that Safari 8 (installed with Yosemite) is not showing the lock icon for HTTPS websites.
I can't find a way to see the security certificates for secure websites.
I switched the “Show full website address” setting in Safari's Preferences, but nothing happened.
It's essential having this icon, or any way to tell if the site is secure or not.
I don't see any other option in the menus or anywhere else in Safari to see a sites certificates.

I'm not sure if Safari was updated since your question, but today the lock icon is in the address bar right next to the address
