Security mails from Microsoft cant be delivered to Exchange 2010
Hi there,
I have strange issue with delivering e-mails from Microsoft account team to my Exchange 2010 users.
That is single Exchange 2010 server scenario with Microsoft antispam features installed.
There is one setting that is affecting behavior of that: Sender-ID filtering. If it is configured as reject messages, the authentication e-mails are rejected with error:
550 5.7.1
Missing purported responsible address,MissingPRA,No valid PRA
I was doing some research around the Sender-ID filter and found this:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997242(v=exchg.141).aspx pointing
to this:
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4407.txt
(see chapter 2, points 5 and 6)
And Im thinking that the From: header is too long for the filter having 133 characters...
From: =?windows-1250?Q?T=FDm,=20kter=FD=20se=20star=E1=20o=20=FA=E8ty=20Microsoft?= <[email protected]>
See https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2822 chapter 2.1.1
And if from header is not read properly, there is no other chance to define PRA.
Im attaching the header with some privacy related edits (*)
And also connection to my previos post:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/cs-CZ/63366c5f-5028-4b86-8cd9-815b2474083e/authentication-email-from-onedrive-is-not-delivered-to-exchange-2010?forum=exchangesvrsecuremessaging

Do anyone knows the limits of header lines in the Exchange 2010 Antispam Filters?
I have tested it deeply and strange thing gets even stranger:
If I send entire email with telnet the difference between error and accepting message by server is comma in From: header. so:
Message is not accepted with that line:
From: =?windows-1250?Q?T=FDm,=20kter=FD=20se=20star=E1=20o=20=FA=E8ty=20Microsoft?= <[email protected]>
Message is accepted if I delete a comma:
From: =?windows-1250?Q?T=FDm=20kter=FD=20se=20star=E1=20o=20=FA=E8ty=20Microsoft?= <[email protected]>

Sent Mail from IPAD using Mobile Iron and Exchange 2010
Hi all,
Not sure you can help me with this one but i thought i would give it a shot.
I am running Exchange 2010. Users can access email using iPad and other approved devices using Mobile Iron (onboarding app).
I had a user who received a HTML message wiht an embedded image, when he forwarded that image on (adding some comments) the recipients of that email where not able to the image as intended. the image was no longer embedded it was added as an attachment.
where the embedded image used to be it said;
"THe linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved, renamed or deleted. Verifiy that the link points to the correct file location"
When the message was resent from a Windows 7 Outlook client it was received as intended.
I have not been able to reproduce the issue since. the email was received and forwarded in HTML format.
under Settings > Mail, I think there’s a setting called “Load remote images”, This is turned on.
Im pretty sure this is not a mobile iron issue but an message format issue.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Sorry for my interrupting.
Based on your description, I understand that forward an email with an embedded image from mobile devices, then
the image will display a “red x” (with error message as you find) when we receive this email in Outlook. Would you please let us know edition information of the Outlook which you use to receive the email? Meanwhile, please refer to following KB and
check if it’s suitable for current situation.
Images in email message disply a "red x" instead
of the image if the Cache value in the registry is incorrectly configured
If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

Windows 8 Mail from Microsoft setup problem
I have a Dell tablet running Windows 8.1 Professional. I've installed the Universal ("Metro") app "Mail from Microsoft". I've set up an IMAP account. I'm able to log in, receive and send email. But, the email address for this account
is different than the "sync" account. But, when I go into the account setting page, I can't change the "preferred email address" field -- it's grayed out. I'm assuming that it's the field that the controls the "from" email
address. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change it?Hi Richard,
How did you sync that?
When you click the "Sync" as the screenshot below, all your new emails from your mail accounts have been synced to the Mail app. It's not sync one specific account emails.
About "Preferred email address" settings this is only for outlook.com. Allows you to send an email using an Outlook.com alias.

I have a Gmail ID (e.g [email protected])
I have a Exchange ID (e.g [email protected])
I need to configure exchange account (2007) such that I can send a mail from my Exchange account but at the receiver end it looks like it was sent from ([email protected]).
Both the accounts are my accounts.
I need this because I do not have access to my Gmail account from place where I access the internet and I need to send the mails from my Gmail account only.So you want to spoof your e-mail address.
You can make your Exchange server send as any address you want. Just create a different mailbox with that address as the primary (reply) address. It has to be a different account.
However, be aware that many systems to which you send such mail to will bounce it as suspected spam because they'll detect that your server is sending mail from Gmail but your server is not Gmail.

Import mails from microsoft outllook to mac outlook
Am trying to import mails from MS outlook to MAC outlook and its not importing all msgs/ folders..
adv why??You're in luck, Imap and Exchange accounts store their data on the server.
Leave Outlook alone, just add the accounts to Mail and let them synchronize, no import required. You can leave them in Outlook or remove them as you please once everything in Mail is done. -
Transferring e-mails from Microsoft Outlook Express to Entourage '08
Ok, so I agreed to help my neighbor with an e-mail issue she was having. Her issue was moving all of her e-mails from her PC (on Outlook Express) to her new iMac (using Entourage '08). It's a rather complicated thing, I'm sure, and I'll try to go over everything as thoroughly, and as simply, as possible.
She has an @comcast e-mail account. She has her @comcast account set with Outlook Express, on her PC, and she is able to receive all incoming e-mails on O.E., but they disappear on the Comcast e-mail page 24 hours after she receives them.
When she purchased her iMac, the Geniuses at the retail store set up her @comcast account to Mail, and from that point, she received all NEW e-mails from her @comcast account, and this time they weren't being deleted from the Comcast page.
She asked me to transfer all of her e-mails on O.E. to Entourage (just for archiving purposes, so Mail isn't over-cluttered with a near decades worth of e-mails).
I've tried several methods, but I can't figure out how to transfer the emails from O.E. to Entourage. After an hour, or two, I realized that her old settings on O.E. were set to erase the e-mails from the Comcast server.
All in all, I need to know..... how to transfer emails from O.E. (which are deleted from the Comcast server) over to Entourage.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Here's some possibilities:
Import Outlook Express (PC) emails into Mail
Mail.app - Importing from Outlook and Outlook Express
Moving emails from Outlook Express to Mac OS X
If you do some more Google searches you may find other possibilities. You may be able to export from OE to Thunderbird on the PC, move the Thunderbird data to the OS X version of Thunderbird, then move from Thunderbird to Mail. The advantage of Thunderbird is that you can export both email and contacts from OE. -

Why is Outgoing mail from my iPad not appearing in Outlook 2010?
I have set my iPad to synch with my gmail account. In turn my gmail account downlaods and synchs with Outlook 2010 on my Windows 7 PS.
Everything works except that when I send mail from my iPad or reply to incoming mail from my iPad, my replies, whilst synchronising with my gmail account, and showing in the Sent folder in gmail, do not download to Outlook.
If I log into gmail (from my email or via Safari) and send mail direct from gmail these messagesshow in the Sent box and DO show in iPad gmail outbox and Outlook, though they show in the Outlook inbox!
So the only mail that gets stuck in gmail and won't download to Outlook is outgoing mail sent from gmail in my iPad.
I can work around this by sending a bcc to myself of every outgoing message I send from iPad. In this case the Send copy shows up in the Sent folder in gmail and does not download to Outleook but the bcc copy arrives in nthe Inbox in gmail and does download to Outlook. Its ugly but works.
A proper fix would be better - does anyone have any ideas? For Exchange GMail there is a way to set your iOS device to use a different "Send As" name than when using a computer. Unfortunately in your case, you can set your computer to send an alternate name but the iOS device can only send the default GMail name, which is the name associated with your account. Ideally, you would like your iOS device to use the alternate and let your computer use the default.
But if you want to play around with this ...
1- On the iOS device itself, use Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync. You will have to log in at the prompt with your GMail account info.
2- Select the iOS device name (in case you have multiple iOS devices using Google sync).
3- Select "Enable 'Send Mail As' for this device" and Save the changes.
4- Using a computer, log into your GMail account and select Settings/ Accounts and Import, then at the "Send mail as" prompt select "edit info" (off to the right).
5- Change your outgoing name.
The name you specify in #5 will be used by your computer, but the iOS device will continue using the original (default) outgoing name. You can see why you need the opposite in your case, so unless you can change the default to be your wife's name and then set the alternate to be your name, I think you're out of luck. -
550 5.7.1 NDR's as mail volume from IIS Virtual SMTP server to Exchange 2010 increases
We have a virtual win 2008 server that has a Virtual SMTP server running via IIS. A separate application on this server drops emails in the pickup directory to forward to our Exchange 2010 environment and this works fine. The odd issue is that as the volume
of messages being dropped in the pickup directory increases to over around 500 per minute we see a huge increase of bounced emails ending up in badmail directory on this server. The NDR we receive from our exchange environment states the following
550 5.7.1 Anonymous clients does not have permissions to send as this sender
As soon as we throttle this application the issue stops. And the same emails that bounced can be resubmitted with no issues
This particular virtual SMTP instance sends to only a handful of mailboxes in our organization, but it does send a lot of messages
We currently have a receive connector for all internal relay servers, and this server is called out in the accepted IP range and the message rate is sent to unlimited. Here are the edited version of the details of one of the internal relay receive connectors
on one of our hub transport servers. Is there something we have setup on the these connectors that might be causing this?

minute. When that happens the messages get bounced from Exchange with the following info in the NDR
550 5.7.1 Anonymous clients does not have permissions to send as this sender
If we resubmit all the bounce messages at a lower volume per minute we do not see the issue. I'm still working on replicating the issue now that we have logging turned up on the receive connectors.
In addition some messages are being bounced with the following NDR message
554 5.6.0 Invalid message content
These messages are always between 65-70KB and have around 200 recipients
In the Exchange receive logs for the receive connector for these messages we see the following message (with different sizing)
A parsing error has occurred:MIME content error:
Singletext value size
(32781)exceeded allowed maximum
(32768).
The messages dropped in this pick-up directory can be anywhere from 1KB to 10MB, so it's not that it's viewing each batch as a single email but something different with this particular email. I've tried searching for where to increase this MIME value
but can't find out where it is stored in Exchange. -

I have question about these sentences. If I misunderstand your saying, please correct me.
1. Have scanners function to send email to exchange system?
Did you test it before?
Do you try to send email to another account like (windows live, yahoo)?
2. According to your error log, it seems to be network configuration problem.
Do you modify network configuration of scanner?
3. Can you check transport rule of your server?

Mail subject rewriting when sent to DL- Exchange 2010
Hi folks,
we have an Exchange 2010 and several DL.
We'd like to rewrite the subject of any message sent to a specific DL to ease the filtering of such messages (seen Outlook client is limited in filtering).
Any of the rules as described here don't apply
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638183(v=exchg.141).aspx
I'm pretty familiar with regular expression but last time I used the mail header to catch the condition I ended up in rewriting any message sent through Exchange.
I think this is a pretty basic function and I wonder why it's not among the offered filter options.
Has any one done that before and could he/she recommend the filter/regex to use? I guess it would be "Mail to:.*[email protected]" but as I said last time message other messages were impacted (they were messages on other DL that didn't have such
pattern in the headers as far as I remember)
Thanks in advance,
AlexHi Anand,
thanks for your reply but I'm afraid it doesn't apply to my case. The question is to rewrite the Subject when a message is sent to the DL regardless of who sends it (the DL might be opened in the future to external addresses as well)
Let's say that the DL My-favourite-recipies at example.com is the DL and this DL has got users A,B,C,D and E.
My understanding is that what you propose will work even in case the user A will send a private email to user E because both belong to the DL, and on top of it the management by the moderator, that is not set, is not necessary.
That's why I'm looking for the solution in the headers (since I didn't see the option "sent to DL xxxx") "IF destination email address is my-favourite-recipies at example.com" then "prepend the Subject with [My-favourite-recipies]"
I have to say that I'm not aware how Exchange treats messages sent to DLs and I though it was sufficient to set the condition to the field "RCPT TO:" but unfortunately mails to other DLs were affected.
Let me be more specific: we have a DL called waw-200 at example.com (of course I modified the domain)
and when setting the condition for such DL I used the following (W|w)(A|a)(W|w)-200 at example.com but in this way also mails sent to DLs like fps-it at example.com were touched.
Thanks Alex -
My Active Directory environment is 2003 functional level and we have Exchange 2010.
I am trying to find out the best way to do a mass edit for the "Managed by" values of our security and distribution groups.
I know we can export the "managed by" field by csvde but I am not sure this is the correct way to do it. Also in the case that there are multiple users assigned to be managing a distribution group it only shows one value. Also powershell from Exchange
2010 can be used with "get-distribution" but as our AD environment is 2003 is this correct also?
Finally once the data is exported to csv can it be edited to then reimport and udpate the existing group managed by fields with new values?
Not really sure that the best way to go about this is.
Summary - We have 2003 AD with Exchange 2010 and I am trying to export a list of all our Distribution/Security groups showing the group name and managedby values so we can edit and update the
existing managedby values with new ones. In some cases we have multiple users as the owners.
Appreciate any advice on how this can be best achieved. Thank you.Hi,
We can use the following command in Exchange 2010 to export "Managed by" field of Distribution and Security groups:
Get-DistributionGroup | Select-object Name,@{label="ManagedBy";expression={[string]::join(“;”,$_.managedby)}},Primarysmtpaddress | Export-Csv
C:\export.csv
After you changed the Managed by field in export.csv and saved it as a new file named import.csv, we can run the following command to set with new value:
Import-Csv C:\import.csv | Foreach-Object{ Set-DistributionGroup –Identity $_.Name –ManagedBy $_.ManagedBy}
Hope it works.
Thanks,
Winnie Liang
