Security on Movies

If you BUY a movie from the iTunes Store; does it come with security or ownership code attached to it?
I BOUGHT The Secret Garden (it's a chick thing)and it came to me as a m4v file. If I take it into iMovie 08 I end up with a huge film strip that is blank. The audio track is there but no video. If I play the m4v file through Quicktime, it plays. If I burn it to DVD using iDVD I get the audio again but not the video.
What can you tell me?
iTunes 10.1.2 Quicktime 10.6.9 iDVD 7.0.4 iMovie 08 7.1.4

Actually, you BOUGHT a license to watch the movie and keep it on your computer/iPod//iPad/AppleTV.
The license does not give you the right to edit the movie (as in using iMovie).
If you BUY a movie from the iTunes Store; does it come with security or ownership code attached to it?
Yes.
What can you tell me?
You cannot do anything with the movie except watch it.

• Web Gallery - Movies & Security?

Is there a way to enable security on movies uploaded to My Gallery like you can for photo albums?

Nick:
No, you can't have the gallery protected and still have the scrolling feature. Part of the protection is keeping the photos unavailable at that level as well as limiting access.
Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• Cant get com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only entitlement to work

Hey I am curious how can I get the .ipa compiled file for iOS to be able to read all the directories on the iPhone?
I made a file browser but I cant get to the pictures
I tried adding the entitlements in Flash Builder 4.6 in the descriptor file like this:
<key>com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-only</key>
<true/>
<key>com.apple.security.assets.movies.read-only</key>
<true/>
<key>com.apple.security.assets.pictures.read-only</key>
<true/>
in the
<iPhone>
<Entitlements>
<![CDATA[
I got Push notifications working and accepted in the app store but it can't read the pictures directory when browsing for a file
I know the app id and stuff is set up right or I wouldnt have been able to get it accepted in the app store. In the entitlements area of course I have the application identifier set and aps-environment and keychain access groups and whatnot set up right.
When I try to put the app onto the iPhone with iTunes it just says 'Entitlements are not valid' (does not mention anything about mismatched ids) I can't find anything about how to add this entitlement and I could have sworn I saw a thing that said I can just use the descriptor file to add entitlements in some of the documentation I have it set to use air 3.4
Is there something I am doing wrong, how do I get apple to just put these entitlements in the mobileprovision file, I cant seem to edit it, if I do I also get an error in itunes that is some hex code...

Did you ever solve your problem?
I just transfered my web hosting and e-mail to bluehost. I had some of the same problems you are having. I noticed you have your incoming server set to bluehost.
Incoming mail server: (SSL) box610.bluehost.com (sever requires authentication which I already have done)
If bluehost is your server this is what worked for me:
Account Information
Account type— POP
Description—anything you want
Email Address—in your case would be [email protected]
Full name— first and last name
Incoming server—mail.magnus.com
User name—[email protected] Notice it is the @ symbol not a +
password— your password . Remember they are case sensitive
Outgoing Mail server—select edit smpt server list from the drop down window
select the + to add a server
Account Information
Description—may be left blank
Server name—mail.magnus.com
TSL Certificate—None
Advanced
Use default ports
Check Use SSL
Authenticate—password
Username—[email protected]
passowrd—your password
Click ok
In the accounts window
Outgoing SMTP— select the server you just created.
Check—use only this server
Select the Advance tab next to the Mailbox Behaviors
Check use SSL— it will be port 995
Authenticate —use password

• After last security update script broke

Hello,
I've written a script that processes Photoshop files into a single pdf and names the file based on our corporate standards. It then moves the file from the desktop into the appropriate folder. Both the pdf document and the folder that it's being moved to are assigned to variables. The pdf document is nameCheck and myFolder points to the correct folder. I've checked the veracity of the variables with a return statement after they've been assigned. However, the script hangs on this line. This didn't happen until I did the last batch of security updates.
move file named nameCheck to folder myFolder with replacing --This used to work (I've also tried this without "with replacing" and still it wouldn't work)
I wrote a small test script to see if moving files wasn't allowed (that would be foolish) and it works:
tell application "Finder"
make new file at desktop with properties {name:"myNewDoc"}
set docToMove to file named "myNewDoc" as alias
set toFolder to folder "PDFs" of desktop as alias
move file docToMove to folder toFolder
end tell
Any ideas? Anyone?
Thanks!
-Zoar

Is nameCheck the name of the file?, an alias pointing to the file?, or a string representing the path to the file?
If it's just a name then the script won't work because the Finder doesn't know where to find the file to move. Sure you might know the file is on the Desktop, but how does the Finder know that?
What if there where 2 files on disk with the same name - which one would it move?
In other words you need to be specific, like:
set nameCheck to "somefile.pdf"
tell application "Finder"
move (file nameCheck of desktop) to folder myFolder
end tell
or maybe:
tell application "Finder"
set nameCheck to file "somefile.pdf" of desktop
move file nameCheck to folder myFolder
end tell
It may be that earlier versions of AppleScript/Finder mistakenly assumed which file to moved based on its name only, but that is incorrect behavior.
If my guess isn't right, then you need to provide more detail, such as the actual code that fails along with any error messages that you get.

• Relationship about ATP check and credit check

Dear all,
At present, we have credit control in sales order. The rule is : once the sales order's amount over 1 dollar, the order will be blocked for credit check. This order has to release credit block manually in VKM4.
Here has a problem, when a sales order has credit released with the status "D", if i check ATP for one item in this order, the credit status will return to "B", it is not match our requirement.
How can the credit status not change when ATP check happen in the sales order?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Irene,
You can copy this requirement with new code like :
IF yvbuk-cmgst = 'D'.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-SECURITY.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-STATIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DYNAMIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DOCUMENTVALUE.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-CRITICAL_FIELDS.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-REVIEWDATE.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-OPEN_ITEMS.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-OLDEST_OP.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DUNNING_LEVEL.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER1.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER2.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER3.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-STATIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-DYNAMIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-DOCUMENTVALUE.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-CRITICAL_FIELDS.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-REVIEWDATE.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-OPEN_ITEMS.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-OLDEST_OP.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-DUNNING_LEVEL.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-USER1.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-USER2.
MOVE CHARX TO status_reset-USER3.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
If you are a problem with yvbuk-cmgst, you can use user exit MV45AFZZ to save the credit status (cmgst) into an other field.
This new field is checked in the new requirement.
This requirement deactivates the credit check if the credit status is released. In this case, no credit check is possible in SO.
Regards,
Lionel

• Credit block in Sales order create/change

Hi Experts,
while creation/change of sales order,If sales order net value is zero or 0.01 no credit checks.in other words greater than 0.01 netvalue of so, it shoud undergo credit checks.( Means Header->Status, Credit status = 'Not Approved". )
Actually i am trying to write logic in routine 901 ( include RVKMP901).but i am unable to reach the requirment. Can anybody how i can reach above requirment.
Regards
Jaya Reddy

Hello,
you could use code similar to this:
CHECK: xvbak-netwr < ls_zkredit-wert.
else no credit check
vbap-cmpnt = ' '.
MOVE charx TO bypass-security.
MOVE charx TO bypass-static_limit.
MOVE charx TO bypass-dynamic_limit.
MOVE charx TO bypass-documentvalue.
MOVE charx TO bypass-critical_fields.
MOVE charx TO bypass-reviewdate.
MOVE charx TO bypass-open_items.
MOVE charx TO bypass-oldest_op.
MOVE charx TO bypass-dunning_level.
MOVE charx TO bypass-user1.
MOVE charx TO bypass-user2.
MOVE charx TO bypass-user3.
The ls_credit-wert is a local field which is set from a table according to Sales order Type/ Salesorg/ Payment-condition

• How I got out of error 0199 purgatory

So I locked up my Lenovo T61 pretty spectacularly on a Friday night. That will teach me to play computer nerd, any reasonable folk are doing something more productive on said nights. What basically happened is that I thought that it was so cool that there were so many passwords that I could set that I in fact set them all and then made the BIOS sphincter tight, so that a password was required to breath funny. BUT the thing that killed me was requiring a supervisory password, not knowing what that was, and then setting it without knowing it. You don't record what you didn't know that you set.
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. ONLY POORLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS CAN DO THIS STUNT WHEN THEY ARE SEMI-CONSCIOUS.
My story is detailed on this thread
Please help - Totally locked out of T61
=============================
1. PART ONE: IN HARD DRIVE HELL
=============================
At any rate, these were the symptoms. If I rebooted, I received this error, no matter what I did the system kept politely but emphatically saying:
***** ERROR: 0199 System Security security password retry count exceeded *****
Press [F1] to get into setup utility *****
I kept politely but gullibly (is that a word?)
Hitting [F1]
and getting into the setup utility, a trip to nowhere (you can change nothing). No matter what I did, [F1] did not pass go, did not collect $200 but went straight into the BIOS setup utility, in which I could do nothing.
The answer of course was to ignore the obvious and
Hit [ESC]
instead. I detail this partly because that approach, ignoring what the software told me to do and trying alternate responses, is what saved my behind.
So I figured out how to get into my HDD, but every time that I got on I got that **** 0199 error. And I tried everything that I could think of, all that I could find in help etc. So now the story continues in a second thread.
==================================
2. PART ONE: IN PASSWORD PURGATORY
==================================
I figured out my HDD and power-on passwords. There are five variants of extremely difficult to crack code algorithms that I use (OK they would be difficult for ME to crack, as in never). Trying variants of them using my usual suspects, I backtracked those codes.
But what about this supervisory password? And where could I try it, because I was locked out?
Get into CSS (Thinkvantage Client Security Solution)
Move into <Enhanced Security>
Moved into <Unlock>
I noted that I could clear the lockout counter using my Administrator password. Hmm
Clear the lock out counter
This appeared to allow me to do the next step, but it is not absolutely clear to me whether/not this step was necessary
Move into <Deactivate>
My memory is that at this point it asks you for your supervisory password in order to deactivate the chip. I've turned off the supervisory password now (never again!!), so this is remembered. BUT. AHA! Now you can
Try out those few variants of your genuine, it-is-really-me, Lenovo-approved passwords that you remember or (in my case) half-remember
This step took me forever, because it doesn't LOOK like you can enter a password. But once you type it in then you have the opportunity to hit enter. It will lock you out eventually, and I APPEARED to have to clear out the counter and reboot before I could try again.
So at this point, I had these three passwords nailed down
* Power-on
* HDD
* All of my Windows passwords
* The holy grail, my supervisory password
A detour:
The supervisory password, by the way, turned out to be the HDD password that I remembered AND jives with one of the pieces of Lenono documentation that I combed for clues that I can of course no longer find. My best guess based upon my poking around is that there was
1) My user HD password, let us say that it was
Kermit
2) My master HD password, e.g..
Oscar
3) THEREFORE the HDD that I remembered
KermitOscar
was in fact the USER + MASTER (duh) that I couldn't figure out
This is where I feel exceedingly clever, for no particular reason.
Again I was/been looping around, endlessly trying to find a place to enter the ***** ******* supervisor password, now that I had the thing. But there is nowhere to enter it!
* You can't enter it when the BIOS fires up
* You CAN enter it until the cows come home in CSS to no effect
* Firing up Rescue and Recovery to enter the BIOS is equally useless.
So here is my simple cleverness, from the documentation "Using passwords."
When logging in, instead of entering your power-on password, use that supervisor password instead. In my case, if instead of using my fingerprint to log in with
When Windows asks you to log in, I hit <Esc> and entered
First the SUPERVISOR password and
Then the HDD password
Instead of the regular
Power-on password and
Then the HDD password
Then you trip over from Kansas into Oz and VOILA!!
============================
PART THREE: BACK IN LENOVO OZ
============================
I am now recognized as the supervisor and can play again with things in the BIOS which were better left alone.
My fervent hope is that some other person out there will not waste as much time on this as I did.
For 95% of you out there this will be dull stuff.
My guess/hope is that this post will stay posted. I am not giving away any nuclear secrets here, I figured it out on my own and/or it is in th edocumentation. If you were not just a few steps away from remembering your password this wouldn't work or be worth your time if the person had a password worth a ****.
I'm not paranoid or anything, it is just that all of the posts that I wanted to read were yanked offline like they were giving away nuclear secrets. If I have inadvertently said something that I shouldn't then don't just yank the post, tell me what I need to fix and I'll revise this to something less yankable.
Enough.

I have a similar problem. I solved the problem as you did, but clicking the eject button. However, it seems that I have to do this nearly every time. If I plug it in, it will sync and finish. "Do not disconnect" goes away OK. However, if I choose 'sync' from the file menu, it will sync and then not clear when finished. I have to manually eject.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
You are running Safari Version: 4.0.3. Go to the Apple Menu  / Software Updates. You should be running Safari 4.0.4 Restart your Mac and launch Safari. If you still have problems...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
And make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
Go to ~/Library/Preference and move this file com.adobe.Readerx869.0.plist file to the Trash
Go to ~/Library/Preferences
com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.plist
com.apple.java.security.plist
Move those files to the Trash and restart your Mac.
If nothing above has helped, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

• Question about the requirement for goods issue from a delivery (VOFM)

Dear all
※Please note that this is related to the credit limit check.
I am trying to set up the SAP system, so that if the maintenance contract (rental document) is billed at least once,
the system would allow the user to bill the customer regardless of the credit usage (ex. 150%).
So I created the following routine for the credit check (in VOFM).
IF XVBAK-AUART = 'ZMZZ'. --> Please note that ZMZZ is the document type of our rental document
LOOP AT XFPLT.
IF XVBUK-FKSAK = 'B' or XVBUK-FKSAK = 'C'.
We will not do any credit limit check for this item line.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-SECURITY.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-STATIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DYNAMIC_LIMIT.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DOCUMENTVALUE.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-CRITICAL_FIELDS.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-REVIEWDATE.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-OPEN_ITEMS.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-OLDEST_OP.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-DUNNING_LEVEL.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER1.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER2.
MOVE CHARX TO BYPASS-USER3.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
EXIT.
ENDLOOP.
ENDIF.
Now, with the routine above, it became possible to bill customers regardless of the credit usage.
However, when we try to ship (posting goods issue) the item for that maintenance contract, when the credit usage exceeds 100%, the system rejects it with the error message below.
<Error message>
Static credit check: credit limit exceeded
Now, I want to set up the system, so that if the posting goods is for the item which satisfies the following condition,
the system would not reject the posting due to the error above.
<condition>
1. The item is for the maintenance contract which was billed at least once --> this means that this is not a new contract
※Please note that for new maintenance contracts (which is not billed even once), the system should not allow to post goods
issue if the credit usage exceeds 100 %.
I looked into VOFM, and found out that we are using the following routines for posting goods issue.
<system routine>
13
<user routine>
113
But I didn't know where the error (Static credit check: credit limit exceeded) came from.
Could you tell me how to find (or where to modify) a location where I can make the modification in order to
satisfy our requirement?
Thank you very much in advance

Dear all
I was able to solve the problem by setting up the credit check routine for delivery notes, and assign it for "No credit check" field
in the automatic credit control (OVA8).
So, thank you for your help, everyone
Takashi

• No Filtering = Fail

I have a HP b110a All-In-One printer.
Recently after changing the security settings to WEP, we've been having trouble trying to get our printer to connect to the wireless router. On the Network Test Report it says 'FAIL' next to 'No Filtering'.
My router model is the standard Sky Broadband router and here's a screenshot of my settings:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/StuntXL/Settings.jpg
Also before anyone suggests switching from WEP to WPA, there are people in the house with gaming devices that can only connect via WEP, so it's not an option at the moment.

You can try disabling WEP and see if it fixes your problem. I don't recommend either WEP or an open network. Either one opens you to a huge security risk. Honestly, I'd replace the (obviously old) gaming boxes with something that supports security and move to WPA or WPA2.
Did you try changing channels (from auto to 11)?
Another thing to try is to disconnect your DSL cable from the back of the router, restart the router (by removing power momentarily) then install the printer without the DSL line attached. After the printer is installed, re-connect the DSL line and restart the router again.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
I am employed by HP

• Tidal Transporter

Any one else using transporter to move between non-prod and prod environments? Any "best practices" you can offer?

There should be a new version for 6X but I can't find anything on Cisco Site
Some of the Best Practices Above are 5.3.1 specific
Many issues are fixed in 6X like multiple concurrent connections
Transporter Best Practices 5/25/2011
Remember that Transporter uses a client connection license, so don’t leave it connected.
Create a mapping file for each environment that may be shared.
If you have two masters (one production and one test), you will have two mapping files, one from test to production and the other from production to test.
The mapping files reside on the network drive, along with the log files and saved transport selections.
Always prompt for a map update. This is set in the configuration.
Copy jobs to production as disabled if they are new jobs.
Manually enable the new jobs after transport to the production environment via the Client.
Existing jobs should always be copied in the same state that they are in production. If you copy an existing enabled job as disabled, the job will be removed from the existing schedules until you enable the job via the Client.
Save selections for jobs/groups that are constantly being transported. These files should be kept in the same location as the mapping files.
Archive activity logs. Make sure that the activity logs on the shared network drive are backed up. You will need to decide what your retention policy is and take action to implement it. Transporter does not maintain the logs after they are created.
Disable auto select dependencies for jobs with complex or many dependencies to enhance performance. All the auto select options should be configured in the off position. Turn them on only when needed. Remember to turn them off again after use.
To replace an existing job in the production environment, use the “includes duplicates” option in Transporter. This can be done in the configuration or by right clicking in the transport console when you have Jobs/Groups selected.
Avoid changing the effective date when transporting jobs unless you want all the jobs being transported to have a future start date. If a job is required to be scheduled in the future, use the TIDAL Client to schedule the job after the transport
Commit / rollback option in the configuration should only be used when no other users are creating jobs with the Client. This option may lock other users that are using the Transporter or the Client.
Transport your scheduling types based on the following sequence:
Calendar, Variables, Resources, and Job classes should be transported before all other items.
Actions must be transported before Events, with the exception of Job Actions. They can only be transported after the Job that they are putting into the schedule has been transported.
Jobs/Job Groups must be transported after all the other types have been transported.
Set restriction security on non-super users in the Client via the General Category in the Security Policy – “Move Jobs to Production” or “Move Own Jobs to Production”.
Transport Archive should be enabled in the configuration. This will enable you to back out a change if needed. This is done by using the Client to remove the newly transported job, and renaming the Archived job name and changing the parent group to the correct location in the Job Definitions.

• How to design a database for multi Companies

I like to hear your comments if you have a database that serves multi companies or if you have good knowledge about this subject.
Our data is sensitive and I was thinking on creating a schema for each company but seems that's a lots of work specially when the schema will change.
Do you keep your multi companies data in one schema, if so, what kind of care we need to take to avoid any mishap??

• Designing a network model

Hi,
Let me start saying that im pretty newbie still considering networking. I have studied CCNA and CCNP in my school and am now working on my final work which is to design a basic network model that can be applied into small to medium sized companies.
The network core devices are a Cisco Catalyst 3550 Switch and a Cisco PIX 515E (7.0) The C3550 will handle the traffic inside the network and connection outwards will go trough PIX Firewall.
In the work im going to divide the ports in the switch to 3 different VLANs that will be for the assumed different departments of the company. (production,offices,administration/servers etc more added if needed)
Im making Access-lists for every VLAN and I am wondering should I only use these ACLs to set what kind of traffic goes between the VLANs in the companys inside network and let PIX handle the traffic that enters and leaves the network? Should i have an ACL in the switch already preventing somekind of traffic going forward to the PIX?
I have found it abit hard building access-lists for both inbound and outbound VLAN traffic as i feel i have to open alot of ports to get the most basic traffic flowing without problem in the inside network.(Programs using ports > 1024 in the return traffic getting blocked in the return packets, unless i open alot of those larger port numbers)
Should i just limit what traffic can exit a VLAN and leave the rest of traffic flow inspection for PIX to handle? Will this provide enough security to the network provided the end stations have proper software protection and the switch is secured to prevent adding of unwanted networking devices. Im kind of unsure of the PIX device itself as my studies never crossed path with it so never got to use it before this point.
Any views on how to handle the security in different points of the network would be greatly appriciated.
- Jouni Forss

Thanks for the fast reply,
As we havent gone indepth with securing a network in our studies I feel the need to find as much info on the best practices to secure a network. All our studies have given a pretty narrow look into the ways to do that.
Im pretty sure i will go with applying outbound traffic ACLs to each VLAN and after the switch has been secured will move onto configuring the PIX.
Basicly the main idea is to have all the different departments connect to the server
VLAN for resources. Only the office and admin/server VLAN will have connection to outside world. This is ofcourse just a basic idea to start building the configuration on and the ACLs would probably change depending on the real life application situation.
Also one point was to build a possibility for VPN connections to the server VLAN from outside world which is another thing i need to get into after the switch. These connection would be coming from perhaps home office or such places with DSL connection to perform some remote management on the servers and such.
The customers using this type of network model would be mostly behind slow connections and there wouldnt be any high load traffic going out or inside the network. (DSL etc connections)
By reading info on the PIX i presume that in this situation it would be best to use it in Transparent mode between the C3550 and the DSL modem in question. Or maybe use PIX in routed mode and configure the outside interface to get its IP address with DHCP from the DSL modem? Or maybe some static configuration would be better there.
One thing i would like to know about the PIX is that does it have some basic settings that would make it possible to basicly insert it to the network and it would provide some basic protection already? I guess if theres some good base that i could start building the configuration suited for the network in question.
I find myself lacking alot of basic information concerning Firewalls/PIX even though it should be really essential in my studies. Thats why i would like to know how much does PIX ability to keep the network secured depend on the the right type of configuration or does it perform most of its measures to intercept harmfull traffic automatically with some built in methods? (Not really sure on my choice of words)
I guess at this point i would really appriciate any tips that any of you expirienced PIX users could give me to set me on way configuring my firewall to provide sufficient protection for the network.

2: Use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero Security option (move slider one spot over) and click Erase, this will map of potential bad sectors.
3: Set Partition: 1, Option GUID, Format: OS X Ext J and give it a name like MacintoshHD
4: Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone the OS X boot drive to the external drive and that's it.
5: Hold option/alt key on a wired or built in keyboard while booting and select the clone to boot from.
6: CCC will save the saved changes when you update the clone, however you can select the option to maintain a pure clone also.
