This is an urgent request, please response ASAP, thanks.
According the readme of patch 121230-02, this patch also includes 121230-01 and should upgrade OpenSSL to 0.9.7h or 0.9.8a as follow:
(from 121230-01)
6332476 CAN-2005-2969 upgrade OpenSSL to 0.9.7h or 0.9.8a
while after patched our several Solaris10/x86 servers successfully, we checked openssl version as follow, looks like it is not upgrade to 0.9.7h, when we scan these servers, openssl vulnerabilities still exist( CVE-2006-3738, CVE-2006-2940,CVE-2006-2937,CVE-2005-2969).But we checked all files in this patch has been installed into the system. is this a bug exist in patch 121230-02.

Thanks for the suggestion, the next step was to call Apple, who gave me a claim number, which I discovered you must have to get anything done with them.  They refered me to a Apple store or repair center, after some reseach took it to the Computer Store in Mobile, Alabama and they were excellent.  They took pictures of the screen with bug submitted it to Apple who denied the claim but they kept kicking it up to the next level and finally Apple agreed to sent new cover.  The Computer Store had the cover the next day, they changed it out and now I am bug free.  If your in the area of Mobile Alabama you can feel good about getting help from the Computer Store.  For the two folks that responded to my note, Thank You, good comments and good advice.

and a valuable lesson: whenever you think you've found a bug in one of the core classes, always consider that if it really were a bug minds immeasurably superior to yours would have found and reported it a long time ago.
Ergo, whenever you find what you think is a bug in the core classes you should change your thinking to "what have I done wrong" rather than "there's a bug in Java".

  • Looks like an AUR bug?

The following page of msort in AUR says "Package details could not be found."
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33319
While one can fetch the package info by
    wget 'http://aur.archlinux.org/rpc.php?type=search&arg=msort' -q -O-
And also the tarball is available at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/msort/msort.tar.gz
    Any thoughts?

Thanks for all your replies. The issue's gone already.
    @tdy
I uploaded three packages using slurpy, all w/o setting category, and the other two both were fine. There was something the msort PKGBUILD was missing though, its pkgdesc was empty at the first commit. But even I reuploaded it with pkgdesc added, the web interface still could not work. Later I did another reupload, and now all seems good. And I see the category is set to system (by someone...)
What bugs me most is the fact that the web and json interface don't use the same method to parse/display PKGBUILD. What good is that?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that issues like the one you are experiencing can be very frustrating. For this situation however, for update errors in the range of 3000-3020, I would recommend the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article. Please use the steps and information as a reference.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or  Chrome.
Be aware, Apple no longer support Snow Leopard v10.6 >  www.ibtimes.com/apple-kills-snow-leopard-os-x-106-no-longer-receives-security-u pdates-1558393
See if your Mac can run v10.9 Mavericks >  OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
If so, you can download and install Mavericks for free from the App Store.

I have a 1st Gen, MacBook Pro from 2006. For the last few years I've had to us my power adaptor as my battery no longer works, and shuts down after 30 seconds it. Now my power adaptor looks like it's coming to an end. Even though it's securely fitted, it often switches off.
I am planning on buying a new MacBook Pro later this year, but for the meantime I'm not sure if I should buy a new power adaptor, or if this is a problem with my MacBook Pro. Also does anyone know where I can buy a battery in the UK for 1st Gen MacBook Pro.

OWC has batteries for 1,1 generation MacBook Pros and they ship internationally - http://eshop.macsales.com/.
Your best bet for a power adapter is to get one from Apple. Third-party adapters just don't seem to be reliable (or safe). You can also buy a replacement battery directly from Apple, of course, but they're a bit more expensive.
    Good luck,

Check for yourself as that article is complaining about OS X client, they openly state
they don't have server to test with. So the complaint is legitimate, but dangerously inaccurate.
Unless you have installed the server update and verified that it does not fix the issue.

  • Security - pop up ads coming up on my mac - looking like it's mac security

Hello, pop up ads coming up on my mac -
For the first time in 4 years, My mac is getting ads (looking like mac windows) for 'anti'malware' and ads (looking like mac) saying that I have viruses and to download to erase them. I have seen this twice this week. It is NOT from mac protection (although it looks like your computer and HD). This is happening in firefox - what can I do to block this??? (i already have blocked suspicious sites, etc)?
I called Mac - they said this is malicious software and has been happening in the last 2 weeks - to not download anything (which I hadn't) and that they ask for a credit card number and download possible viruses.
I changed something in my system preferences in safari - but use firefox usually - is there anything I can do in safari to not get these??

On my iMac, I opened Safari -> Preferences -> General and unchecked ''Open “safe” files after downloading'' to protect against the recently reported "Bogus MacDefender malware".<br>
    Ref: <br>
    http://thenextweb.com/apple/2011/05/02/bogus-macdefender-malware-campaign-targets-mac-users-using-google-images/
Firefox would not automatically open a downloaded file that could start a software installation, as far as I know. The file would be saved and you would need to open it manually, as a Firefox user mentioned here:
    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-rumors-reports/237155-macdefender-malware-targeting-mac-users.html
You can do other things to keep safe online with Firefox, such as making sure all your plugins are up to date by visiting www.mozilla.com/plugincheck/ and disable any plugins in Firefox that you aren't using, via "Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins" . See [[Troubleshooting plugins]] for more info.
If you already installed the malware, the [http://thenextweb.com/apple/2011/05/02/bogus-macdefender-malware-campaign-targets-mac-users-using-google-images/ first link I posted] explains how to remove it, which I've copied below.
Luckily, disabling and removing the bogus MacDefender application is easy. If you have been infected and want to make sure it no longer resides on your system, follow the steps below:
#To ensure you do not automatically download the app, uncheck the following: Safari > Preferences > General > uncheck “Open “safe” files after downloading”.
#Searching for the application and deleting it directly may fail, saying the app is in use. To stop it running, check Activity Monitor (in Applications > Utilities) and disable anything that relates to MacDefender.
#Look in /Library/StartupItems and, same place, LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons for references to the malware app.
#Once quit, head to the Applications folder and drag the MacDefender app to the trash, then delete trash.
#To ensure all references to the app are cleared, run a search using Spotlight and delete all MacDefender references you find.
The removal of the app is somewhat easier than on Windows, mainly thanks to the security of the Mac OS X operating system. The malware looks to proliferating off the back of attacks on websites that are serving images on Google Images – it is recommended that you browse safely, utilising other image searches for the time being.
If you feel uncomfortable following these instructions, you should visit Apple Support or the Apple discussion forum, where I found many related threads about this malware, including https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3029144

  • Just finished update. While in the Tips, why did it tell me I have an old version? Hey there! Looks like you're using an old version of Firefox. Don't miss out on the latest technology & security features. Get the free upgrade in less than a minute.

Dear Colbabomb; thankyou for your links.
So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.

    Received an email:
our Apple ID, xxxxxx, was just used to download iBooks from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.

So I restart and everything is OK - until I have to start up again the next time - then I have to repeat this again! Any help appreciated.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited.  In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items.  I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible.  I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected.  Hope this helps!

It looks like sync but nothing is happening. The sync doesn't stop by itself. Is there anybody to solve this problem? In previous versions never a problem.

I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Then when you start iTUNES it finds the iPOD. - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((
