Security Update 2007-002 X2

I ran Software Update and it listed Security Update 2007-002 so I opted to install it. I just looked in Installed Updates and saw that there are 2 Security Updates of 2007-002. Is there 2 different versions of Security Update 2007-002?

There are three actually:
Security Update 2007-002 (Universal) (PPC) (Panther), for Mac running Tiger on Intel machines, power PC's, or are running Panther.
If you used Software Update it would have downloaded the correct version.
The two entries are shown to have been downloaded on different days.
Did you download that security update on the 22nd as well as on the 16th?
Strange that it listed it, if it aleady had it a week ago.
Have a look in /Library/Receipts to see if it is listed only once.
Run Software update again just to check it is not available, (as you have it - or should have it)

Security Update 2007-002 Won't Stay Installed

Hello All-
I've been trying to download/install Security Update 2007-002 without success. I have tried about 4 different times to no avail. Every time I do download the update, install it and then restart my computer, it's still shows up in my Software Updates that need to be downloaded. Any ideas as to what's going on? TIA!!

Your hint did work for me! I tryed before to follow the tip at VersionTracker (use Pacifist to extract iChat from the 10.4.8-Combo-updater to replace the language-stripped iChat I had), but that failed. The resulting version of iChat after running 2007-002 reported to be 3.1.7, but crashed at start. Probably because the iChat in the 10.4.8-Combo-updater is Version 3.1.5, and this version also crashes without the update.
In my case, iChat 3.1.6 had only the German and English language files. I use Macaroni to strip unused languages.
The question that remains is: Can I strip the languages from iChat 3.1.7, or will that result in a crash?

BIG troubles after Security Update 2007-002 (Universal): Apps gone dead!!!!

After doing the above Update, all ADOBE apps went dead at once. Had to reinstall everything.
Same thing happening with Apples iWork. Apps won't start anymore!
tried to restore access rights, deleted the prefs but still there is no success.
This Update has created LOT's of problems and consumed plenty of expensive time!
How do I get my apps up and running again? It can't be that I need to reinstall everything! Can't believe it.

Reinstallation is probably your only option. If you had a bootable backup, all you would have to do is restore it. See http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html for details.

Airport Extreme Update 2007-002 broke my connections

I was working properly with my brand new MacBook. I was able to connect to my ADSL router using a wireless connection perfectly.
Unfortunately, after installing the Update 2007-002 everything colapsed. Now, I cannot connect to any network.
I have tried to connect to a non-secured network and it doesn't work. I have tried to connect to a 64 bits WEP secured net and it doesn't work. Then, I tried with a 128 bits WEP secured net, and it also doesn't work.
The point is that the networks are visible i.e. I can select them, but after a few secods I get the answer <<there was an error joining the AirPort network "networkname">>.
I'm very upset with this. Is it normal?.
If anybody has some ideas or suggestions for solving the problem, please... post them.

I have tried almost everything and nothing worked.
I even tried to remove the update by doing the next:
1. Download the most recent version of Mac OS X for Intel (10.4.8) but do not install it.
2. Download and install the shareware application Pacifist
3. Drag the Mac OS X 10.4.8 installer package onto the Pacifist application icon.
4. Click the triangle next to "System" to expand it
5. Click the triangle next to "Library" to expand it
6. Click the triangle next to "Extensions" to expand it
7. Scroll down and find the file IO80211Family.kext. Drag it to your Desktop or another location (you will have to enter your administrator password)
8. On your Mac OS X startup drive, navigate to /System/Library/Extensions and locate a similarly named file (IO80211Family.kext). Move it to another location for safe keeping.
9. Now drag the file from step 7 (the one that you retrieved from the Mac OS X 10.4.8 install package) into the /System/Library/Extensions, in effect replacing the newer file (installed by the AirPort updater) with and older copy -- you will have to enter an administrator password.
10. Restart your Mac
But after doing this, the OS wasn't able to find the airport card, so no connectivity existed.
At the end, in order to have some kind of connectivity I re-installed the 2007-002 and now I'm again like I was before removing it.
I cannot update the firmware of my router because I don't know the exact model (I bought it within a ''kit'' of a telecom enterprise, and they remove this information from the device).
Any new idea, will be appreciated.

Why Safari, Mail crash after installing Security Update 2008-002, v 1.1 ?

After I installed Security Update 2008-002, V1.1 Safari and E-mail crash. Any help with this issue is appreciated.

Applications not responding apparently after Security Update 2007-009

Mail, iTunes, Skype, MSN Messenger, MainMenu, Emule, Safari and god know what else aren't responding after Security Update 2007-009.

I recently purchased a new phone that does not work with macs, so I bought an application from Feisar to make it work. The application isn't freeware, so I think it is very unlikely that it bogused my system. Anyway, I installed the software, but only afterwards noticed it didn't work for my phone model with the USb interface, only through bluetooth, which I don't have. Moreover, and, in my opinion, more importantly, I also downloaded and installed security update 2007-009. After the update, I mandatorily restarted OS X and instantly noticed Mail, iTunes, Safari, Skype and Messenger not working. I click on them on the dock, they bounce (usually once, but it has occured to be more) and nothing happens. I don't get the little arrow below the icon. I see the applications in the applications folder, so they are not missing. I searched and searched on the internet and, apparently it is, to say the least, herculeanly complicated to downgrade from a software update. I tried to repair permissions and it didn't work. I tried the apple hardware test and everything came out perfect. I restarted many times and the same keeps happening.
So I wasted half my day yesterday trying to fix this, looking into forums and trying to talk to people about it and there it absolutely no answer. Yesterday I installed the programs necessary to sync my phone in my wife's macbook and nothing bad happened. So I'm guessing it isn't about the phone plugins I installed. I've tried to download combo updates but they crash as soon as I try to install them - I even tried to install a 10.4.10 update.

I put part of in on google to check if there was anybody discussing anything related and someone suggested - bizarrely enough - updating adobe reader. I did it just in case and, of course, it didn't work. I repaired permissions a million times already, I rebooted in safe mode, I scaned the computer with apple jack (which reapetedly said that I had a "fan failure!"), I verified the disk with diskutility - which showed nothing. I tried downloading an anti-virus (ClamXav), but I couldn't open it also, I trashed my prefs, I deleted all internet plugins, but still.... nothing.
The most likely line to follow here is the "fan failure" message in apple jack. I looked inside my g5 and all fans except for the one close to the Hard Drives aren't spining. I'm not sure this means they aren't functional or whether the temperature isn't high enough for it to be turned on. Temperature must be around 26-28 degrees Celsius today. There is nothing on the internet about that fan failure that's close enough to my case.
I'm about to quit and take it to the very expensive - yet reliable - authorized tech support apple has in Rio. Any ideas, anyone?

Maybe it is a security update thing! I have had similar troubles with my CS2 and other simple apps like TextEdit not opening, just doing that single bounce... I have tried EVERYTHING and now, after reinstalling my entire system, have lost access to my own user profile.
I'm assuming you have tried starting up with your original system install disk in the computer, while you turn it on, hold the option key, it will allow you to run another hardware check, as well as to do an archive install if it comes down to that.

Prey game not launching after Security Update 2007-004

After applying Apple Security Update 2007-004, Prey (Mac version) is not launching and continuously crashes on my computer. I have uninstalled all game files and reinstalled the game from the original DVD but with no success. Repairing disc permissions, updating prebindings and other usual maintainence meaures are unfortunately not helping. I have an external USB hard disc running Mac OS 10.4.9 without the Security Update applied and Prey works properly when my computer boots up from this external hard drive. It is therefore apparent that Apple Security Update 2007-004 has most probably caused Prey to become non-functional as prior to this the game was working without any problems whatsoever.
Has anyone else expereinced this problem and are there any suggestions?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Restarting taking forever after Security Update 2014-002

I just downloaded Security Update 2014-002 and my Mac Mini is taking forever to restart after the download and installation process finished. I'm running the latest version of Mavericks and my Mac is stuck on restart! What should I do?

Tap the space bar on your keyboard once. The dispaly may be sleeping.
The first restart after the update here was longer than usual but I restarted one more time, it was back to normal boot time.
After the restart, open the App Store then select Updates from the menu.
It should say: Verio 1.0 Installed Apr 22, 2014

Keyboard, keypad glitch after Security Update 2015-002

The overview is: keyboard problems developed shortly after Security Update-002 on Mavericks 10.9.5. I tried OS update to Yosemite; didn’t fix the problem. Reverted OS back to 10.9.5 using Time Machine for a backup date prior to the Sec Update; this fixed the problem.
Mac mini5,2, 16gbram, wired Apple Pro Keyboard (M7803, circa Mac Cube), Apple Wireless Keyboard, LMP Wireless Numeric Keypad, Apple Magic Mouse (A1296?) iPad 2
Within the past 2 days, Apple BT keyboard alpha keys stopped typing. During troubleshooting, I discovered that problems extended to BT keyboard, BT keypad, and wired spare USB extended keyboard. The BT keyboard pairs and works fine with my iPad. Here’s a list of the glitches:
Apple Wireless keyboard:
alpha keys NO INPUT
space key NO INPUT
Delete key works
Force-Quit sequence works
fn, cntrl, opt, Apple, arrow keys, shift all work
top row keys work
LMP Bluetooth keypad:
keypad: 1..4, 6..9 NO INPUT
keypad "5" registers a mouse click, NO INPUT
keypad "0" jumps to mouse cursor first press only, NO INPUT

Besides proving the wireless keyboard works on my iPad, I reset PRAM with no improvement. (I had no problems with my Bluetooth Magic Mouse.)
Next step was OS upgrade via Software Update to Yosemite. All above glitches remained.
Next, I reverted to Mavericks 10.9.5 using a Time Machine OS backup dated prior to 9Mar15, the date of Security Update 2015-002. After this, both keyboards and keypad resumed working. Seems clear that the Security Update is the culprit, no?
I reported the issue to Apple via Support Chat.
I would like to eventually upgrade back to the Security Update and Yosemite but not when it breaks my keyboard. Perhaps I could skip over the Sec. Update and go to Yosemite? Any suggestions?

Update:
The day after I reverted to 10.9 to repair keyboard glitches caused by Security Update 2015-002 (and persistent in Yosemite), Apple released Security Update 2015-004. Such a quick succession of -004 on top of both -002 and -003 was the hint to me that -004 contained fixes to the glitches.
I crossed my fingers and jumped back on the install-wagon. Yosemite 10.3 completed its second installation and my keyboards/keypads remain functional!

Slow Sleep Wake-Up after Security Update 2014-002 MacBook Air

Hello! I have a 2013 August MacBook Air. I experienced the "screen goes black, hard restart" issue for many months until one of the updates cured that issues, thank goodness. I just updated with Security Update 2014-002 and just noticed it took about 20 seconds for my MacBook Air to wake-up from sleep mode. I was fearful it was back to the "black screen, no wake-up" issue with this update, however when it finally came back up I was relieved albeit very cautious now. Anyone else have this same issue?

If you are having issues with waking from sleep and slow startup times, then check out the article below. The main thing to try is to reset the SMC and NVRAM as a starting point sort the issue out.

Unable to install the security update 2014-002 1.0 on 10.9.2

I'm trying to update my Mac Book AIR 1.7 GHZ i5 4 GB with the security update 2014-002 1.0 on 10.9.2. After downloading via Mac App Store it restarts the machine and shows a message "Sicherheitsupdate 2014-002 konnte nicht verifiziert werden. Es wurde beim Laden möglicherweise beschädigt oder verändert. Klicken Sie auf „Aktualisieren“, um es zu laden und prüfen Sie das Update erneut." Next Maverick starts normal and isn't updated. i tried this several times. Alternatively i downloaded the SecUpd2014-002Mavericks.dmg manually directly from Apple but then i get an error that the DMG is corrupt so i can't start the update. I also downloaded the OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg but while running the installer it verifies the package with the result "Beim Extrahieren von Dateien aus dem Paket OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." Any ideas?

I'm trying to update my Mac Book AIR 1.7 GHZ i5 4 GB with the security update 2014-002 1.0 on 10.9.2. After downloading via Mac App Store it restarts the machine and shows a message "Sicherheitsupdate 2014-002 konnte nicht verifiziert werden. Next Maverick starts normal and isn't updated. i tried this several times. Alternatively i downloaded the SecUpd2014-002Mavericks.dmg manually directly from Apple but then i get an error that the DMG is corrupt so i can't start the update. I also downloaded the OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg but while running the installer it verifies the package with the result "Beim Extrahieren von Dateien aus dem Paket OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." Any ideas?

Leopard Server 10.5.2 hosed after Security Update 2008-002 v1.1 Server

I am running Leopard Server 10.5.2 on a Mac Pro 2x3.2 GHz quad core xeon. I did a software update today which included Security Update 2008-002 v1.1 Server. I did disk verify and permissions repair on as usual before the update. Afterwards, I found that I could not log into my local user account with administrator privileges. I can log in as "root" using the local administrator password. All my users can log in. But all the groups have disappeared, and so have the wikis associated with these groups. The data seems to be there in /Library/Collaborations, however.
This was a simple server configuration with 5 users - I was essentially using only the groups wiki function. The server had no client machines. Its not like I had a complex configuration. I am absolutely mystified - spent an hour on the phone with Apple support and they took all the server logs for analysis. I was wondering if anyone else had this update go wrong in a similar configuration.
I would be very grateful for any advice!

I had the same thing happen. It took me a while to figure out why because I installed the update before the weekend and then came in on Monday and nothing worked. I've searched around quite a bit and found some people had the same problem but haven't found a solution. Right now my server is sitting there useless, even after reverting to a backup before the update.
Did you or anyone else find a solution to this?

Believe I've firxed my problem, at least, ITunes is now working again. I followed the information provided from a couple of posts on this thread, (1) re restarting with command-s held down; did it twice, made no differerence; (2) manually re-installed the Security update; no difference; each time restarting, no effect; (3) shutdown the computer; I did for 35 minutes, upon restart, ITunes is back to normal, seems to be working fine. Turning the computer off must clear the cache?

Security update 2015-002

Hi there
I recently installed the lastest update entitled Security update 2015-002.
So all seemed fine till I opened Mac Mail and it asks me for my password as there is no icloud mail account set up. It may be a bit stupid of me but I keep my password hidden in an email so firstly had to find my ipad to retrieve my password. Put that in and it all set up fine - or so it seemed.
My other accounts (also on mac mail) seemed ok - I have a pop and gmail account set up with their own additional mailbox folders.
However when i go to Mail preferences accounts there are no accounts in there except for my icloud account. I then sent a test email to the pop account and nothing comes through. I still have all the old emails in those accounts but cannot receive.
Also in the drop down box (From) when composing it only lists my icloud email and not my pop or gmail email (which it was doing an hour ago).
Is this supposed to happen and if not how do I get my accounts back. (I can't even remember the details of setting them up)

Add the accounts back. If you fill in the e-mail address and password, Mail will normally automatically configure the account.
