Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 are not vulnerable to these issues. Adobe recommends users of Acrobat 8 and Adobe Reader 8 who cant update to Adobe Reader 9 install the 8.1.3 update to protect themselves from potential vulnerabilities.

Does "8.1.2 and earlier versions" mean only earlier versions of v8? Or does it include version 6 and 7 and so on?
Thanks

Ah, whoops. I didn't open the bug report, it was another user. But the report got closed because it was an update (and no bug reports for updates were allowed, that's why I tried to post to arch-dev-public). In any case, I see in arch-dev-public that a dev took notice of this and now you can open bug reports for outdated packages if you're requesting a CVE fix.
or in the extreme case you can try e-mail the dev, but generally mark out of date is enough -

Page is not available for adobe reader deployment
I have an approved software distribution request to access download installation files for Adobe Reader, but the link that was sent to me http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/deployment.html does not work.
I don't know that link (and certainly not the one hiding under your link).
You can download the EXE installers from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If you need the MSI installer, get it from the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/ (which for some reason I cannot access right now). -
Updating problems for Adobe Reader
Help please... why can't I update the Adobe Reader 8 to Adobe Reader 11 on my Windows XP? I haven't updated AR for a while. Is that the problem? It asks me to update, and then I run it, but it won't do anything else.
Thanks so much. Any suggestions/ideas would be much appreciated.I suggest that you uninstall Reader 8, then download and install Reader XI from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Are there updates available for Adobe Premiere Elements 4?
I'm trying to re-encode a video that is 1920x816 2.35:1 and the last program I used cut off after 104 minutes
and it is 132 minutes. Trying to encode minute 104-132. It's an 8.5 GB HD file and I don't have any HD presets
over 1080 and I can't edit the frame size under create a new profile, Any more HD plugins? Any suggestions?I can't remember where it came from, but converting it was a technical
challenge. It is either an Apple iPod movie or a Sony PS3 format. It had a
video of AVC format and an audio track of DTS format in a Matroska envelope.
As you said it's a rare bird. I got the first 2 GB converted using Super
2007 and the settings I use may have limited the output size. I was just
converting the video and not the audio. I'm doing it over using an unusual
conversion tool called Alltoavi, which from the artwork in the skin of the
product is primarily used by fans of Japanese anime. I tried upgrading the
AVS convert utility from version 2.7 to version 6, but it said after I
installed it that it is shareware with a cost of $49 and the program still
neither knew what to make of the envelope Mkv or the avc file in it. There
is an incentive program to update Adobe Premiere Elements 7? Would it be
able to handle more formats and sizes of Bluray source files (not encrypted
of course). paj692 -
Security update issues for Dreamweaver 8
I've updated my Dreamweaver 8 to the 8.02, but when I open
Dreamweaver it still says "security update available for the insert
flash video command". I'm a newbie to web design/development as
well as this program, but pretty sure I followed the instructions
accordingly. I also get an error when I try to view my tutorial
page that had flash in it. I still have the Dreamweaver 8 disc.
I've been coming back to this off and on for months. Now I really
need to finish building my website. Should I just
uninstall/reinstall the whole program?
Could I have screwed things up by downloading adobe flash
player active x or shockwave? I also currently use adobe creative
suite 2, if that is relevant. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
KimThe update being described to you is unrelated to the 8.02
update and was released after it. Follow this KB article for your
solution:

After the recent update for ‘Adobe Reader 9.5.5’ the end of support for this version is June 23, 2013. This is installed on an edition of ‘Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2’. System type: 32-bit Operating System.
Probably is the best way to go if end of support for ‘Adobe Reader 9.5.5’ is June 23, 2013. Does automatic update select the latest version of ‘Adobe Reader X’?

Which Base MSI to Use For Adobe Reader Updates?
I am new to creating AIP for Adobe Reader and am wondering which MSI to use as the base installer. From what I understand, to create an AIP for Adobe Reader 11.0.07, I need to first have the AIP created for 11.0.00 and then patch it using the 11.0.07 MSP file. (the 11.0.07 MSP file contains all other updates found in earlier quarterly releases and OOC releases)
So my question is on obtaining the correct MSI file for creating the original 11.0.00 AIP. My options for obtaining the correct MSI are threefold:
The original 11.0.00 MSI (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi) (only one msiexec comand required)
The original 11.0.00 EXE (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.exe) (extract the files from the exe, then run the msiexec command)
The new 11.0.07 EXE (AdbeRdr11007_en_US.exe) (same as previous item)
I noticed that the MSIs in the AIP are named "AcroRead.msi" when extracted from an EXE file (#2 and #3 above) but named "AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi" when extracted from the original MSI file (#1 above). Are all three of these resulting MSIs the "same"? They all have different MD5 hashes but otherwise appear identical.
Once I have the original AIP for 11.0.00 backed up, I should be able to reuse it when new quarterly releases come out. Can anyone help please? What is recommended? Thanks! No one answered, but I think probably all can be used. I made a script that will automatically extract and build the AIP from the most recent EXE file provided by Adobe. Why Adobe doesn't create a new MSI themselves is beyond me.

Remove an update for Adobe Reader
Hi everyone,
I have searched around and couldn't find an answer regarding this... I would like to remove update 11.0.10 for Adobe Reader. I need to do this in order to test some of our in-house applications.
I would like to remove the update only, not the whole Adobe Reader application since we might have to push a solution to thousands of people.
I tried multiple MSIEXEC.EXE commands to uninstall the patch but always get an error stating that this patch cannot be uninstalled. is it true? Am I forced to uninstall the whole product?
Thanks for your helpI should say so, yes. I don't think Adobe Reader does the necessary thing of keeping copies of all modules at all versions so you can roll back selectively.
You could probably slipstream patches into the original 11.0 installer to make a single install, using normal Windows Installer techniques. -

Can't update or uninstall Adobe Reader 9 on Windows 7
I keep getting a message to update Adobe Reader, but when I try I get a message:
'Adobe uninstall update failed could not open hkey-local-machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run\optionalcomponants\imail'
I tried also uninstalling it through the control panel. Shows it uninstalling with a progress bar and then the same error message pops up and the progress bar goes in reverse till finally there is no uninstalling of the Adobe Reader.
Is there some other way to uninstall and reinstall Abobe Reader? Are there instructions available somewhere to uninstall Adobe Reader manually which include the registry keys to unistall for Adobe Reader 9? I have seen step by step instructions for earlier versions, but I don't know if those would be the same for later versions like Adobe Reader 9.Can you please try the following:
1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Vista/Win7Start -> type "cmd". In the section above you should be able to see a command.exe. Right click on the same and select Run As Administrator)
4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
ii. subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
Try updating Reader now, it should work.

Can't update Xcode – "You have updates available for other accounts" and other errors.
I have 2 Macs, a 2008 Mac Pro running 10.8.5 and a 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.9.0, soon to be downgraded to 10.8.5. I can't install the Xcode update on either Mac, and I can't update MacTracker on my Mac Pro, which suggests that no updates work at all.
When I try to update, it says "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Sign in to ________ to update applications for that account." I'm already signed into that account. I tried logging out, closing the App Store, and logging back in. Then I tried logging out of both the App Store and iTunes as per a fix I found online, and it gave me "Unknown error" once I tried to update.
Is there a fix for this or at least a regular .pkg I can just install? Honestly, it's easier to update stuff in Debian Linux than on OS X 10.8 and up now. Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
1. Follow the instructions in this Apple Support article.
2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
5. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
Then repeat step 4.
6. Select
Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
7. Launch iTunes and select
Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
from the menu bar.
8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the Applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications. If you have backup copies of the apps on another volume, unmount it and try to update again.
9. Contact Account and Billing Support.
