Security update: ping testing. VNC stopped working...Wierd

Have a HTPC off of my router that I use VNC with to control with my mac. Everything was fine until I installed the latest security update (or around this time)
I can file share with the HTPC and everything shows up in Finder. But I cannot get VNC to work now. Nor can I ping the HTPC. I have tried opening ports on my router, even as far as reseting the router to factory. Still no workie workie.
I am stuck. I dont know where or what to do.

Thanks for your reply. I've looked into what you suggested. The DFS Replication service was set to run as Local System Account and I can confirm the "Allow service to interact with desktop" tickbox was not ticked.
Just to make sure, I changed the logon account, restarted the service and then put it back to local system account on each partner and domain controller. Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to have fixed the problem.
I've checked the logs on each machine and can't see any new errors.
As I was getting an 'access denied' I did read somewhere that the domain administrator account should be part of the administrator's group on each machine. Previously the group had the following members:
Administrator
(domain)\Domain Admins
I've added the domain administrator account to that list. Initially, the access denied message disappeared, but came back a few minutes later when I went back into the DFS console.
Let me know if there's anything else to try. I'll keep digging my end. Just to give you some more info, all machines involved are running Windows Server 2008 R2 and are fully patched.

I've tried everything others have suggested without any luck.

why aren't we hearing from apple? why aren't they saying something like "yeah we messed things up but be patient. we are trying our best to fix it..." ?

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

Help, 10.6.8 update, all usb ports stop working after 10hrs

I've been running 10.5.8 for ever and finnaly tried to update to 10.6.8.. After I did it, the usb ports all kick out any connected devises after around 10 or so hours. I ran of the install disk, using disc utillty, disk repair, and repair permisions a few times and it did not help.
I did the install a few times again to try to see if it would help and didnt.
i tried an erase and install and migrated everything over from my orignal back up external drive that is running 10.5.8 and issue is still there.
My old 10.5.8 back up external drive works fine and does not have this issue, and I have been using that as my start up drive instead and working from there. But that is not really a solution and a temp work around.
Any suggestions would really help. thanks!

I have a early 2008 macbookpro 2.8 duel with silver keys.
I purchaed the 10.6 disk from the apple store. I've had the machine for years and purchased it refurbished from apple.
I did the erase and install and migrated everything over from external drive, then did update to 10.6.8 and the usb ports still would stop working after a few hours.. Then I read on another apple community forus to reset pram, and pull out the power cable, take out the battery and hold power key for 5 seconds, then restart. that seemed to fix usb issue so far..
But overall my computer seems to be running slower then when using just 10.5.8 and it did not wake from sleep once and I had to force power off and restart.. But maybe its just getting used to 10.6.8. we will see..
Also, on another note, my battery is totally dead, and I can only run computer with power cable.. Will this affect things? it never did with 10.5.8..
Oh, on my erase and install, I just did the simplest version and did not do the full erase to zero using he advanced security measures.. I just did the one where it writes on top of everything..

Quit Mail, the run Repair Disk Permissions at least 2x in Disk Utility. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. Then restart normally and test, if the problem persists please post back.

10.7.5 update caused Flash to stop working!

I updated to OSX 10.7.5 today and now Flash has stopped working. I tried updating flash on Adobe's website and still nothing. Anyone else run into a similar problem?

After software update, airport an USB stops working. Clean install fixes it until I update

I've reset PRAM and SMC erased and reinstalled 10.6 multiple times. Everything is fine until I do a software update. I can boot into windows via boot camp and all is well, but in OS X some USB ports stop working, and airport will say no hardware installed. I've repaired permissions as well with no luck. No AppleCare left so I can not call Apple.

I have this problem too. I have the 27-inch LED cinema display connected to my Mac Pro 1,1 via the Radeon 5770. I also suspected it had something to do with the machine going to sleep, but the audio doesn't disappear every time it goes to sleep. Unplugging the monitor fixes the problem.
I also noticed that when the sound has went away, if I try to change the volume there will be a long delay before seeing the volume-change graphic. Also, toggling the sound device in System Preferences while the problem is in effect is unresponsive, sometimes giving the beach ball. Finally, this message is seen in console logs when the sound has went away:

Confused, Since last CC app Update Core Sync continually stops working.

This is occurring with a window popping up stating 'Core Sync has stopped working' more than once an hour, on both my laptop and desktop, both running Windows 7 64bit.
I just spent over 40 minutes on the phone with adobe tech support, to finally be told to turn file sync off in the creative cloud app at some point, and then being instructed to sign out and sign back in to the CC app, whereupon I was told the issue was fixed.
I asked if I could turn sync back on, and was told no, as the problem would recur. I asked then how I was supposed to use file sync then, and the tech simply disconnected. Shortly after this, the window popped up again though file sync was still paused.
So spending this time has solved nothing, I still have this problem on both my computers, support simply bailed on me, and I'm paying $50/month for this...and the window just popped up again.
How do I fix this other than simply turning the creative Cloud app off? I have looked through the forums some, but only seemed to find problems and not solutions.

TS4175 getting error message since IOS update "ApplePhotoStream.exe has stopped working"

Getting the error message ApplePhotoStreamw.exe has stopped working. This seems to have happed after the IOS6 update. Anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

This is actually in Windows 7. Apple has an iCloud control panel for windows available. I have the newest version, but my pictures have not updated since March 2012.
This isn't a big deal as this is my work computer. I may just uninstall the iCloud Control Panel.

When I updated my iphone 4s several weeks ago, it caused my wifi button to gray out and become non-functional. Several apps also stopped working. Can this be fixed?

Not likely, But try, Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if better. If not, restore iPhone Firmware with iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer. See if better. If not, and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

Equium A210 - After BIOS update the DVD drive stopped working

hi, since I have updated my BIOS recently, my DVD drive has stopped working on my Equium A210-1AS with Vista 32bit.
I have tried Microsoft fixme program that does not work, upper and lower registry is not there ether in regedit.
Has anyone got any solutions to get DVD drive working again?

The CD/DVD was working fine before I was prompted by Toshiba tempro to update my BIOS, since then my CD/DVD drive doesnt work.
Have tried fixme from Microsoft that doesnt work, have tried to delete upper/lower filters they are not there, have unistalled CD drive and restarted the drive re-installs and still does not reconise any CD/DVD to boot up and DVD drive disapears some times
Any suggestions?

Updated to Mavericks, backlit stopped working

After updating to Mavericks, the backlit keyboard stopped working. When i try to activate it, it shows a greyed out icon with a not available icon. I need this option to work pls. Any ideas/support?
