See the Camera, Can't Capture

OK, I know this problem occurs frequently. I can control the camera, but can't capture video from it.
FCE HD 3.0, QT 7.1.2 (reinstalled after trashing receipts for all other QT versions), OS 10.4.7, G4 Powerbook, 160 GB External G-Drive, 1.25 GB RAM, Panasonic DVC 30, DV NTSC Firewire Basic (Easy Setup). Trashed FCE HD 3.0 Preferences.
I have captured from this camera before under OS 10.3x with this same combination. I can control the camera and see its output into external video monitor via ADVC 110 converter.
Camera > G Drive > ADVC 110 > Video Monitor
G Drive > another external HD > Powerbook
Viewer has Preview Disabled when capture initiated. Bars never go away. Use capture clip or capture now and get msg "No video"

Hi Peter,
I wouldn't advise daisychaining anything between your camera and your PB, and especially not through your ADVC. Some people have had success with daisychaining but many if not most have not, and imho Tiger is more demanding about this than Panther was (which, honestly, overall I think is a good thing).
I'd suggest a methodical approach to figuring this out - disconnect all the external FW devices from your PB. Then connect your camera to your PB to see if you can capture. Then try it again with your camera daisychained through your external HD. etc. Assuming at some point capturing fails, you will have identified the device or combination of devices that causes the problem.
imho the presence of the ADVC, whether chained or not, is the most likely cause of the problem. Disconnect it (but only when everything is powered off, btw)

If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.

Known bug. Quit the Camera App, double-tap the home key and delete Camera from the recent apps bar. Fire it up again, should be good.

I have an Ipod 4th generation ipod with a broken screen: pretty much the entire upper trim is broken off as I can see the camera. Why does my Ipod touch screen only respond in the very middle? Top and bottom work not left or right.

When the Ipod touch 4th Gen first came out, I got this ipod. About 6 months later, it fell out of my pocket and the top of the screen broke to the point where I can see the camera. The ipod worked perfectly fine for a long time untill about 8 months later when I started having issues with the Ipod. I still was able to unlock and use it but it was hard to unlock. It worked fine when it opened but unlocking it for some reason difficult. Now, I cannot unlock it at all and I am only able to press the play button for music (double-tap home) and press cancle (in the dead center) for a soft reset. Im trying to figure out whats goin on and as of now i have no clue. I have tried resetting it and am in the process of restoring it completely. Is there any possible way that this is just a glitch that can be fixed or is it done for good because somethings broken? I'ld like to know before I really put more time into this.

I am trying to import i frame from an SD90 video camera to iMovie, but it does not see the camera. Footage goes to i photo Why?

If you quit iPhoto and iMovie (with the camera still attached) then put the camera into VCR playback mode. Then launch iMovie and see if it can see the camera. If not, get out the power adapter for the camera and plug it into the wall, plug the camera into the power adapter. Reboot your Mac and wait for iPhoto to launch again automatically. Don't let it import the clips, just say No, quit the program. Then put the camrea int VCR/Playback mode, launch iMovie and check again to see if it can see the camera. Once iMovie sees it the first time it should be quicker to recognize it in future. But iPhoto does try to race in there and grab everything first.
To turn this off go to iPhoto Menu in iPhoto > Preferences > Look for Connecting camera opens: (click on the pulldown menu and choose No Application) This effectively turns off iPhoto when you first attach the camera. And it opens the way to iMovie recognizing it quicker.

Image Capture doesn't see the camera. I have tried with two different Sony cameras, that I have been using for a long time on this computer. It is iMac 27''. Both of these cameras work normaly in MacBook Air, that means that the problem is not in the camera, or the cards. Those are the things I have tried so far. Getting PE7 to see the camera

I have a sony trv27 camcorder and PE7 on a XP PC. The camera came with Pixela and it works but doesn't do much. It does however see the camcorder but PE7 doesn't. What do I do with this? Thanks.

That means you may not use Premiere Elements to directly control the camera for video capture
You may... IF the video you capture with Pixela is compatible... edit your video with PE
What kind of video is captured with Pixela?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

In my new smartphone Z10 after upgrade software to version 10.2.0.424 and try start run camera I got only message: "the camera can't be started"
Camera does not work!
Also I can not see videos from i.e. Youtube application

The camera can"t be started.

I unfortunatly bougth Blackberry Q5 last day, and just after buying it the power switch/buttom isnt working. Till now i wasn"t able too restart the device.
And just now with in 18 hours i got new error the camera can't be started.
Is this poor quality and OS being made by the Blackberry which doesnt satisfy the customer for the single day, and i just read one post under which a person having the same camera trouble and reply given to him was to re-install the complete OS WTF, we are here to buy the new smart phone or to keep its software updating due to your poor services and OS / hardware.
Totaly dis-satisfied isn't going to recomend phone to anyone.
I have done the fullish thing to buy Q5 instead of purchasing Android or I-phone available in the market.

Can't see the camera icon!

When I select the camera, I don't see the small camera icon. Instead, I see the three circles for rotation and the middle circle for the axis. Where is the camera icon? Also, How do you change the camera axis? I would like to move the axis away from the camera.

Look in the view button on the upper right of the canvas. Make sure that 3D overlays and 3D scene icons are checked.
You can change the axis of the camera in the camera tab. A viewpoint camera will have the axis on the camera body itself, while a framing camera will have the axis in the middle of the viewable frame of the camera.

I use a dns server by which I remotely monitor security cameras. Whilst I can log on to the site I can no longer see the camera output since upgading to FF4. Chrome still works.Think I've tried everything obvious - any ideas ?

The frame of the video console is visible but there is no actual video. I've set the user & password to "admin" so someone could take a look if they get the opportunity. Thanks for your help.

Hello, yes it did & still does work on FF3. It also still works in chrome. I have to profess that I'm uncertain what the plug-in does or whether it is correctly spelled ? I can say though that I could also view the cameras through FF3 on kubuntu. Sorry if this is not very helpful.

Can't see the camera wireframe / icon in views

This might sound strange - and there probably is an easy answer to this question.
I'm looking at all of the alternate views in Motion 3 (ie. top, right,..) and I cannot see the yellow camera wireframe in any of the views.
I've made sure that all of the view options are checked and they are... but the camera still doesn't show.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I did the typical "trash the preferences", and it worked. I would have sworn I had tried that before I wrote here, but I sometimes forget what machine I was having the troubles with.
Unfortunately I lost my preferences, and this is just a kludge and not yet a fix.
Hopefully my new 8 core showing up fixes everything. <snicker>
