See Video No Sound

I'm having a problem playing some .avi files(when I say some I mean quite a few)on quicktime. I see the video but no sound.I've checked in many other posts,but none have a correct solution to the problem.I'm running Version 7.1.2.Some tell me that I should go to Audio Midi Setup/Audio Devices and change the audio output.But when I go there it says that Output is not Supported,so I can't do anything.Some say that if I open and close Garageband it'll fix it.But that didn't work either.So any help would be appreciated.

me too...and it seems like a whole boat load of other people are having this problem...can anyone PLEASE tell me how to resolve this issue!!~~~~
( w/o using VLC!!!...I want to be able to view the movie and control it from front row...but when I open movies from front row, I guesss it plays it from quicktime....so no sound!!~~~~...)

No video or sound from iSight

I have a frustrating problem ! My external iSight camera has stopped working, ever since I moved from a PPC G5 to an Intel Mac Mini. I did actually have it working for a while, but I must have changed something and now nothing I do will get it to work again.
I have tried isolating the problem by removing other Firewire devices - the camera is always correctly recognised no matter where I plug it in; System Profiler shows it as present, and it is shown as available as a video or sound source. The problem is that when I actually try to use it, I just get blank (black) and no sound input.
If I plug the camera into another machine, it is recognised and works OK !
I'm sure this must be a software conflict, but I don't know what with. Console logs just show similar messages from any application that tries to use the camera, saying that it's unable to open the source for input. I'm suspecting that some 3rd party plugin or driver is being loaded and crashing out - perhaps because I migrated over from a non-Intel machine (I did a clean install, and ran the migration assistant).
Any suggestions how to find the culprit ?

Phew - got it working, but don't ask me how !!
I did a fresh install onto the internal HD (I already boot from an external one, see below). No dice. So I unplugged everything, and plugged in just the iSight.
I have a LaCie external HD which also works as a Firewire and USB hub. With this unplugged, the camera worked on the fresh install. I then re-plugged in the firewire leads for the hub, and connected the camera to the hub. Rebooted (****, OS X boots fast on a fresh install on the Intel machines !). Still working. Then I plugged in the USB leads for the hub, still working. Which is strange, because that's exactly the configuration in which is WASN'T working a few moments before ! I then rebooted into my original system (on the external FW disk), and it's STILL working.
Now this is really strange, because this is the config in which it really wasn't working before. All I can figure is that somehow connecting via Firewire first, rebooting, and then USB somehow tells the hub to work correctly as a FW hub. But this doesn't make too much sense, because other external HDs I have still worked fine before - it was only the iSight that wasn't working.
The only other thing I can think of is that in the process of doing this, I moved a small plastic photo frame that I have that was sat ontop of the mini. The thing with this frame is that it's 2 bits of perspex held together by magnets. They are only small, but I wonder if there was some interference caused by the tiny magnets that somehow effected the Firewire connection (but only for the iSight ?). Anyway, that's staying off the top of the mini for now !
I'm not sure if this explanation will ever help anyone else, but it does give you an idea how to isolate a problem. What I did was isolate the OS (by doing a fresh install), isolate the hardware (by unplugging it all, and selectively re-plugging it), and isolate apparently unrelated external influences (by removing the picture frame). If you're having strange problems with your computer, be methodical, and you will probably isolate the cause and fix it !

i guess it was uploaded/converted
but when i went to watch it on my iPod.
it played but no sound.

Ipad video no sound

when i used my ipad to record the video, the sound is too low.....but i have make the speaker level higher already!

I found the solution on @Reks: Educational Applications for Children (of all places). You can do a reset without changing any of your settings by holding down the Home button and the off button at the same time. You will see a black screen with an apple. Restarted and sound and video were back. Problem solved.

If I accept cookies, I am unable to see videos in YouTube

Yesterday I upgraded Firefox from version 3.6.13 to version 3.6.14 on two different machines (both of which use Windows XP). And then a very strange thing happened: after that I am unable to see YouTube videos. I can see hear the sound but there is no image (there is a white space instead). Furthermore, this only happens when I am a regular user, not an administrator. And it happens only with YouTube. The only way I found to fix the problem was to delete all YouTube cookies and to block any new ones. Then all works fine.

If i open more than 12 tabs with youtube videos and let then open, on every new tab video and sound corrupted.

Does this only happen with the nightly or can you reproduce this on other browsers as well?
Are videos playing on the other tabs?
To confirm what you are seeing:
12 youtube pages are open by the time you get to 12 or 13 the video and audio are corrupted?

Attach camera via USB or put card in card reader.
Go to FCP, and go to the Log and TRANSFER window.
If FCP recognizes the card, you will see your clips listed on the left.
You can view them, set Ins and Outs, and import just what you want.
Once you choose a section of video and import it, FCP converts (transcodes) from its original camera format to Apple ProRes422 - a more edit friendly video file.

I'm using the default camera app with the phone. Happens every time with videos that I take with the camera. does not occur when watching other videos, only videos taken with the phone. and when the video is uploaded to a computer or online, the hiss stays with the video.
I just bought the phone a few months ago, so this is the first time I’ve tried taking video with it. I’ve tested repeatedly to see if its intermittent but it’s constant.
