Seeing double in Contacts

Dear Common Wisdom:
Why am I seeing double in my Contacts app on my iPad.
Each entry is in there twice!

Hmm. I see the following message: "Your contacts are being synced with MobileMe over the air. Your contacts will also sync directly with this computer. This may result in duplicated data showing on your device."
I have the "All contacts" button selected, but nothing else under the Sync Address Book Contacts heading.
I don't see the choice you mentioned. Maybe this is a bug for the next fix?

    firstly, please double check if you are using the correct Skype account (if in case you have more than one).  Then if still needed, you can contact customer service as they are the ones who can assist you in restoring your lost contacts.

  • Doubled up contacts

    Can anyone help....
    A few days ago I noticed all my contacts on my iPhone 6 had doubled up, so basically I have now over 400 contacts were I used to have over 200. I logged onto my iCloud account and checked my contacts there and discovered they were doubled up also. Does anyone know of an easy fix of this problem and if I am forced into cleaning it up myself should I do it in iCloud or on my iPhone??

    First, check Contacts on iCloud.com to see if your contacts are also duplicated there. If they are, then contact iCloud Support for help.

    No.
    One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
    But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
    Create separate computer logins for each of you.
    This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

    You don't access the iTunes store to see your music (or anything else)..
    You launch iTunes and your music is there, stored on yoru computer.
    You access the iTunes store to purchase items, which are then downloaded to your computer.

    We can not see other peoples' contact lists from our side, unless they happen to be sharing their screens and their contact list happens to be in view.
    Conversely, your own contact list would be viewable as soon as you sign on to Skype via the client software or app; I believe it is consistent across most platforms that a computer/laptop is "Contacts" and a mobile app is "People."

  • How do I see all my contacts, can't page through?

    When I open Contacts it is always on the same page and I can't find a way to page through to see my other contacts. As far as I know I haven't deleted them. All most all my contacts came via Facebook but the contact whose page seems stuck, I added myself.

    First of all make sure that you are not in a particular group of contacts. Tap on Groups in the upper left corner and then tap on Show all Contacts in the page on the left. Then Tap Done in the page on the right.
    If you have been doing a search, tap on the X in the search field to cancel the search to delete whatever is in the search field and them all of your contacts should appear. Swipe throught the list or tap the letters on the left to jump to that particular letter.

  • WRE54G: Seeing double?

    Quick background: my network is one tethered Win2K PC, one wireless WinXP Pro PC, and one desktop Mac. Had some problems with my old B + Booster setup and replaced both today.
    I set up a WRT54G router -- with WEP -- and a WRE54G range-extender. I used the auto-config button, as per the enclosed instructions. The range-extender is now in place, and although MacStumbler tells me I've got two networks with the same SSID, it only says one of them is secured. When I told the Mac to join, I entered the hex key and it worked just fine.
    Then there's my WinXP Pro PC...
    It's using a Linksys USB Wireless B adapter. Their config utility tells me that there are both the same two networks (one secure, one not) available, but won't let me change it from the one that my Mac sees. I can see that it's configured to the "unsecure" SSID, but can't change it.
    Viewing available wireless networks within Windows shows me one with my SSID, unsecure, and my neighbors networks. I tried going into the Properties for my TCP/IP connection, under the wireless networks, and forcing it to use the WEP key. This worked for about 5 minutes, and now it's back to thinking it's joined the "unsecure" network but with no real connection.
    Also, to add further insult, my PC's CD-drive isn't recognizing the installation disk that came with the range-extender, so I can't install the utilities. During the 5 minutes I had a valid connection I tried to download the software from Linksys, but can only find the firmware update.
    So, I have a Mac that had no trouble figuring out which one to join, but my PC is seeing double half the time and not letting me set it correctly. I also can't seem to get the default IP for the extender to load; it keeps timing out in my browser.
    What am I missing? I'd hate to unplug the extender, because at least my Mac is working.

    Hi… The reason you are able to see two different networks see that you Range Expander is not connected to your wireless router. You need to ensure that both the router and RE is setup with exactly same wireless settings such as SSID and WEP. The shortcut to add WEP key to WRE is that turn off the router and assign a static IP to your PC on the wireless adapter. Connect to this WRE54G’s wireless network and access its setup page by its IP address. Add the WEP key to it and turn on the router. You may need to do a power cycle, you would be able to see only one wireless network and connect to it.

    Well, let take the personal service point of view : let say, I had two calendars on my iCloud account : one for work, one for my leisure activities.
    On my MacBook Pro that I use at home as well as at my office, I would want the two calendars to show and since I am alone in my office, I would want the alerts for both my work and my leisure activities to show (and make a sound at the same time).
    But on my iPad that I only use at home, I would only want my leisure activities alerts to show (and make a sound) and on my iPhone that I only use for work, I would only want my work alerts to show (and make a sound).
    That is a personal service that simply does not work.
    Why would Apple give us the opportunity to hide some calendars on certain devices but not allow us, on these same devices, to switch off the alerts linked to these calendars that we have chosen to hide ? Why having alerts of calendars that do not even show on these devices ?
    And I am an Apple fan since 1984, since the very first Mac. I still do believe Macs and Apple devices and/or software (iOS, OS X and others...) are much better and much more efficient than " Microsoft, Windows, Google and other Android devices and software.
    But that does not mean everything's perfect (and I find that quite normal).
    Nevertheless, in this case, letting alerts make a sound on a device where a specific calendar is not shown, that does not make any sense : when uncheking those calendars, the alerts linked to those calendars should be automatically switch off (but alerts should be able to work on the calendars that are shown.)

    For some reason today, I'm seeing double and sometimes triple entries for episodes in the TV shows section of the iTunes store. For instance, on the show Damages, I see "1 Pilot" repeated three times and "2 Episode #0101" repeated twice. That's a total of five entries in the list but only represents two actual episodes.
    I'm seeing the same thing in virtually every other TV show I look at. Grey's Anatomy Season 1, for instance, is doubled with 18 entries for the 9 actual episodes... each one listed two at a time.

    Just wondering, what context is this in?
    First up, is your iTunes account part of an iCloud account?
    Secondly, if it's a free app, why don't they just download it? If they are having trouble finding it on the App Store, but you can find it easily, you can share the link for it via email with them, and if they view that email on their iPod they can just tap the link and it will open the App Store to that App for them, so they can download it themselves.
    If you were to go to the Store settings pane and sign in with your iTunes account, that should only provide the possibility for download items from your iTunes account, such as purchased apps, music and movies. However, if you signed in, downloaded the app, and then went back and signed out of the account again, there shouldn't be any access apart from the app you downloaded. This is provided you sign in using the Store section of the Settings app, not the iCloud section.
    One problem they will have if you download this in your account instead of theirs, in order to download updates for that app, they will need you to enter your iTunes password to download the updates. Doing that doesn't give them access to anythign to do with your account other than that update, but they will be unable to receive updates for it without your password. They would also likely be unable to sync the app onto their computer, as their computer would not be Authorised with your iTunes account.
    If you can answer some of the questions I've asked, I may be able to suggest alternate ways for you get them the app on their device.

    Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them.
