Seeing USB drivers in Remote Finder problem

I have a couple of macs, iMac and Mac Mini and I use the Mac Mini as a home theatre system. When I connect to the MM from the iMac I do not see the 5 USB HD's that are connected to it in the finder. I can only see the internal HD in the MM.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to remotely see the USB HD's?
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply;
I am connected as a registered user, but dont see everything I can see on the Mac Mini (ie mounted drives).
The external drives are FAT32 formatted, but I dont see how that could be an issue otherwise how would I see them locally in the finder on the MM?
I am not sure when connecting via the finder if the connection is via afp or not, it just works!! (forgive my ignorance).
The drives are connected directly to USB ports on the MM and not via a hub.
I have tried connecting a MAC OS formatted USB drive to the MM and I cannot see that one either via the finder remotely.
Hope this gives some suggestions.

  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

  • MS 7005 USB Drivers

    Hi
I hope there is someone here that can help me with a little problem I have.
I have the MSI MS-7005 VER 1 motherboard and I use a Creative USB Modem blaster to connect to the net ... the problem is that the modem is disconnecting after 5 - 10 minutes all the time and I cant get it to stay online.

Anyone know where to get the drivers ? or is there anyone who has had a simmilar problem and found out what the problem was ????
WinXP has the drivers in it but I just cant get the Sh** to work with these(more than 5-10 min that is).

  • I plugged in a USB drive, tried to open Finder, got the message Finder.app can't be opened - 10810, went into terminal.app, messed up, now terminal screen blank.  how do i regain terminal in order to fix finder problem?

With my iMac running, I plugged in a USB drive.  When I clicked on finder, I got the message Finder.app can't be opened - 10810.  I removed the USB drive.  I messed up while in Terminal.app trying to fix Finder problem.  Now my terminal screen is blank, just the cursor, but no action after typing a command & clicking enter.  Help!

I finally figured out a way to Restart (normal way wasn't working...) & that Restart DID FIX both the Terminal problem AND the Finder problem.  So easy, yet so elusive.  Thanks so much.

  • Problems under Windows USB Drivers (Apple Wired Keyboard)

    Hello guys,
somehow I have some issues after installing Windows 7 regarding the USB Drivers: if I install the "Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Installation Disk - 1E31"-drivers, doesn't matter if I do it from Intel's or Apple's webpage, the USB Ports of my Apple Wired Keyboard (A1243) don't work anymore; it says "Not enough power". I have already tried that workaround found on the web, by increasing the output mAh through regedit, but the point is that after installing these drivers, the section "Power Management" isn't shown anymore in the device manager.
I'm having a Macbook Pro Late 2012 with Retina display

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.

  • 64 Bit Windows7/8/8.1 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Thanks to the great folks over at Aceeca.com (makers of NEW PalmOS Garnet devices), USB drivers for 64bit Vista, Windows 7, and Win 8 operating systems are available.  There are many users reporting Palm Desktop 4.x is also working.
I have synced my TX to my Vista64 bit laptop, and Windows 8.1 HP Spectre X2 hybrid successfully via my USB cable.
    The drivers are located here:
    Aceeca Driver Downloads
Installation instructions (from Aceeca) for Windows 7 are included in the download.
    Basic instructions:
    1. Download the drivers and Extract them to the same folder.  Remember the folder you extracted them to.
    2. Try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.
    3. Open the Device Manager, and look for the Yellow Triangle next to either "Acceca" or "Palm Device" under "Other devices".
    4. Right-click on the device, and choose "Update Driver Software".
    5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software" and direct it to the folder you extracted the Aceeca drivers to.
    6. Choose "Next" at the driver file location window, and then tell it to "Always trust software from Aceeca Ltd." then click the "Install" button.
    7. I received an error message (Vista64) that told me "The drivers were installed but the device couldn't be opened." I saw that my TX had timed out and went to sleep.  I tried a HotSync and it worked!!!
    Good luck!
NOTE:  Palm Desktop 6.22 may only show Media and Install.  Here's how to fix that:
If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only shows Media and Install, try this:  Right-click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then choose "Run as Administrator".  The ther modules should appear.
To make Palm Desktop Run as Administrator every time in Windows 8/8.1:
Close Palm Desktop, if open.  (This is a very important thing to always do when using 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)
Right Click on the Palm Desktop Icon in the Metro screen, then choose "Open File Location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.
Right-click on the "Palm Desktop" shortcut file, then Properties.  Now pick the Compatibility Tab at the top.
At the bottom of the Compatibility Tab is a checkbox:  "Run this Program as Administrator", Click OK .
Try opening Palm Desktop, all the parts should appear.  You may see a box open when you close the program asking "Did the program run correctly?"   I picked "Yes", and it's been working fine since then!
If you are using a much older PalmOS device and want to try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch from Pimlico Software:

"After attempting your first HotSync and failing (as expected) you may be unable to find any trace of the device in Device Manager, making the next step quite difficult. This happened to me, and after some investigation I discovered the following tip that allows Device Manager to show hidden and non-present devices.
Open up Notepad and paste the following two lines into it:
    set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
    start devmgmt.msc
Save it as SetDev.bat into My Documents.
Open My Documents in Windows Explorer and double click on SetDev.bat. Device Manager should open.
In the View menu select Show Hidden Devices.
You may now see under the Other heading the failed device with a yellow triangle against it.
You can now proceed to install the drivers per the instructions.
Note that the driver supports most Palm OS versions. I'm actually using an Aceeca Meazura 1000 ruggedized PDA running OS 4.1  --- bobboffin"
    Hope this helps!

  • Nano, Vista & iPod USB drivers

Before I install iTunes Vista recognizes my iPod, it shows up in My Computer and I can use it as a storage device. In Device Manager it shows up under disk drives as an iPod and under USB controllers as a mass storage device. After I install iTunes it loads new drivers, or it tries to. It installs a new iPod USB driver & then it tries to install iPod drivers and never finds them. It tells me the device drivers were not found & I can't use the device until they are loaded. Now the iPod won't even show up in My Computer. When I check Device Manager there is an entry for the iPod with an exclamation mark beside it & under USB controllers it is now listed as an iPod USB device. When I uninstall iTunes it still won't recognize the device properly but if I do a system restore, back to before I loaded iTunes, and then plug the iPod back in it goes back to recognizing it in My Computer as an iPod storage device and under Device Manager it checks out OK. I think the problem is with the new USB device drivers iTunes installs. When installed iTunes will start up no problem, it's just when I plug in the iPod it loads the problem drivers & I have to do a system restore to get my iPod back again. Please help, I've had to do a system restore 5 times now & it still won't work. I can either have an iPod loaded or iTunes load, just not both at the same time. I'm very familiar with computers & software but this is driving me crazy
BTW, my iPod is a new 3rd generation 8-GB Nano

I had a similar problem under XP Pro SP2. If you have a 3rd party USB2.0 enhanced driver for your USB port, you could try replacing it with the Vista generic enhanced driver. Once you've replace the USB 2.0 driver, verify that your Nano is still showing up as a mass storage device, and then try installing iTunes again.
I was using the Adaptec driver, which always gave a blue screen error when I connected my Nano after installing iTunes. After restoring a backup, I changed the USB driver and my Nano showed back up as a mass storage device. Then, after installing iTunes, everything was fine.
    Hope this helps!

  • New ipad USB drivers for pc running on win7

Error message when downloading USB drivers for new iPad for win 7 (64 bits)

My husband's laptop which is at least 3 years older than mine has not problem with charging or recognizing my IPAD.  So I don't think the USB ports have anything to do with this problem.  What I see is that the PC wants to load MTP USB driver which fails.  I have the Apple Mobile Device driver installed and activated.  My computer does not see the IPAD but Itunes does.  How do get the PC to recognize the apple mobile device driver before it tries to download the MTP USB driver?  I am going to try the last suggestion from Diavonex to see if it will work.  This is sounding more and more like a Windows problem.  BTW both my and my husband's laptops are Dell so I might try looking there also.  Wish I had an answer.

  • 64-Bit USB Drivers: WHEN????????????

See message subject -- it's all there. Don't tell me about "Bluetooth" or "WiFi" workarounds. Tell me WHEN there will be 64-bit USB drivers.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

I've finally solved the 64-bit USB Driver problem with my Palm T|X. I can now sync my PDA with WinXP Pro /x64 and Vista /x64 with no problems or by using funky work-arounds. Just plug it in to the USB port and away she goes -- recognized instantly!
How did I do it? Not with anything from Palm!
Bought an HP iPAQ 210 that runs under Windows Mobile Classic, version 6. Amazing how there's a 64-bit ActiveSync made for WinXP /x64. Does a number of things in addition to being able to sync using a USB cord . . . Bluetooth 2.0 (the T|X is the slower 1.0 or 1.1) . . . 802.11g (T|X is the slower 802.11b) . . . and it has a VGA 640x480 screen. Yes, it goes for a higher price than a T|X, but wouldn't even have been looking at other PDAs if there had been 64-bit WinXP and Vista drivers for it along with the loss of some features in the latest Palm Desktop (released finally for Vista). The T|X is a fine PDA, except . . . no 64-bit drivers . . . nothing about when they might appear . . . for years now . . . stone silence from Palm about it . . . and quite seriously, it's my sole reason for looking for a different PDA and dispensing with the T|X.

  • Re-activating iPhone after remote Find iPhone wipe

    Hi,
I have found a bug with re-activating the iphone after a remote Find iPhone remote wipe.
I decided to test the remote wipe on Find iPhone to see how it all worked.
As soon as I hit the the wipe button and confirmed my request the iphone instantly started wiping clean. The process only took a few moments.
With iOS 7 it is supposed to prevent you re-activating the device without inputting your Apple Id credentials.
So I decided to attempy this. When you slide the bar to re-activate it takes you through the initial activation stages, selecting a language and WiFi network. So this goes ok until it realises my SIM card is locked (has a sim lock on it) Before the re-activation process will let you go any further it tells you the Sim card is locked. There is no apperent option to input your SIM PIN and as such you can't go any further.
So I tried removing the SIM card, then it wants you to put a sim card in. In short I can't get passed this screen now.
The simple answer would to be to put the SIM into another phone and remove the SIM PIN. However I don't have another compatible phone to do that.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have sumbitted to apple to report it as a bug.

I have a problem where my iCloud password/email is different from my apple ID and I canot access the email address for the one rhat says iCloud. I ham getting a new iPhone 5 on Monday so backed up this one then decided to wipe it. You cannot without logging into iCloud which needs the email address I have no access to. I then went onto iCloud.com and remotely wiped it with a view to restore (the other problem is my playlists are not sinming with the iPhone either although no error messages pop up). Now I too cannot unlock my SIM Pin or activate with iTunes or WIFI. Stuck and frankly, fed up!!!

Do you overclock?  Use corecenter?  Flash bios recently?  Could be bios corruption....as I recall Murdok saying loss of usb can be an early sign of it.   Consider c-mos reset (carefully with power cord removed during whole process) and possible floppy flash to last good working bios.  Don't know yet, depends on your answers to those questions.  Good luck.
EDIT- By the way, do you have Ghost or Acronis installed to bring your earlier XP install back?
I do overclock but it has been running at 14x200=2800 (2600 stock) for over a year with good temps.
Do not use corecenter, not flashed the bios in months. I did a cmos reset thinking that might be a reason but still have the same problem.
The USB ports are working fine in bios, just windows doesnt load any drivers for them.
And I dont have ghost or acronis installed :O(

  • Portege 3010ct: Question about USB drivers under W2k

Can somebody point me in the direction of the Windows 2000 drivers for the Portege 3010CT USB port? I can only find Win 95 and 98 and these don't seem to work.
    Many thanks,
    Adam

    Hi
Usually its not necessary to install any extra USB drivers for W2k or WinXP.
I have read on some websites that sometimes the service packs update will solve the driver problems. You should check if you have installed all SP for W2k.
I have also found this site:
    http://www.usb-drivers.com/companies/667.htm
    You should check it.
