SeekBar Scrubbing - don't fall off!

We're skinning a video player and have a modified SeekBar. It
is simply the default SeekBar with different colors, and the handle
is a little bigger. If we drag the handle on the SeekBar but
release the mouse button off the bar, the handle sticks to the
mouse and continues to scrub the bar, even with the mouse button
up. A second click on the handle will release it. It also makes the
video very choppy. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a
fix?
If we export as Flash 8, the seekbar works perfectly, but we
need to export as Flash 9 to take advantage of the displayState
function.
Thanks.

  • When I print a web page, how do I adjust the printe margins so that the headers and footers don't fall off the page?

I have looked for a way to adjust the page margins for printing, but can't find it. I have found where to adjust what prints in the header and the footer. When I print, the headers and footers are so close to the edge, and sometimes half off the page edge at the top and the bottom, that I can't really read them. This didn't happen in the past. Maybe this has changed since the last update - I'm not sure. Is there a way that I can fix this, so that my headers and footers are readable?
    Thanks.

Someone else reported this sound last September, but there wasn't any resolution to that thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938003 After upgrading to Snow Leopard on my Mac, Firefox makes typewriter or paper crinkling sounds when going to links and sites].
Does it seem to be at all related to whether pages use Flash? Just wondering whether it is some kind of notification sound related to Flash's capabilities of using the webcam and microphone.

  • Glass separating from display "Falling Off"

My macbook pro warranty ended in December. since I bought it i've had major problems with the display. This is my 4th screen. it's literarlly falling off - as in I can see the camera from the inside that was like last month - now the everything left of the camera comes lose... can look down and see whats between the "glass". it's like the screen is held together with adhesive which isn't strong enough any longer...  everything from the right side of the camera is still sticking but I just want to keep it together until the new macbook pros come out or september for back to school specials....
I have the unibody verison from 2009 the one with the removable battery. I just feel like something I spent over 2k for should hold together a little better than this?
    Suggestions?

Call Applecare and ask to speak to a customer representative. Explain the issue. The previous repairs have been documented. Don't be surprised if they go the extra yard for you.

  • Keys falling off Retina MacBook Pro!

Since around 6 weeks ago, my MacBook Pro's keys have been randomly coming loose and falling off. Currently as I try to type this, I am missing my F1, F2, F6, Backspace, Backslash and Spacebar keys.
For a while now, I've been popping said keys back on and now because I've repeatedly snapping on the keys, all said keys will now not attach to the keyboard and stay on there because tiny little clips on the key caps have broken off. As well as my F2 and F6 keys snapping in half whilst trying to put them back on.
I don't know whether this is related to the key issue, but just before this started happening, something very odd happened with my MacBook.
One night, I went to bed and closed my MacBook and it went to sleep. The next morning, I went to go open my MacBook and the entire computer was so hot to the touch that it burnt me. There were no fans, the screen wasn't on, the computer was just ridiculously hot. Before I closed my computer, I quit all open applications and there is nothing (to my knowledge) installed on the computer to have it wake up and heat up to dangerous levels. When I finally opened the computer, the fans sped up to full capacity and it froze randomly every minute or two for about an hour. After that, it's been running perfectly. The computer wasn't on charge.
Will Apple replace my keys under warranty? It's a massive inconvenience to have missing keys as I start an Advanced Diploma course next week and I *NEED* my computer working perfectly.
    Regards,
    Aidan.

    Thank you for your responses.
As I don't have an actual Apple Store in my state, first I'll try and take it to the retailer I bought the MacBook from and see what they can do for me, and if they can replace the unit on the spot. I'll explain to them it being a retina model and it's unserviceable nature and hopefully they'll respond happily to it, JB HIFI (Australia) are usually good with this type of thing. I've also taken out a 3 year extended warranty with them when I bought the laptop so I think I need to go through them to continue to have the warranty honoured.
Since I can't be without the laptop for more than a couple of days, if JB HIFI won't replace it, my next step is to take it to a certified apple repairer and see if they'll offer a replacement. I've had a closer inspection and on a few keys which have broken, a few metal hooks that hold the "scissor mechanism" in place aren't there where they're supposed to be which makes me believe this could be why they're falling off and not staying there.

  • My "n" key keeps falling off!

Actually, its not THAT big of a deal. i would just appreciate that having just spent 1500 on a new computer that it wouldnt have to come with such a problem.
but yeah, it keeps falling off. is this covered?
other than that, i love it. its my first mac, and everything that has been said about the quality is absolutely true.

Don't settle for anything less than the best. You have the best computer out there (in my opinion), and you shouldn't settle until you're happy. The Geniuses are very nice people, and if you bring your computer in and tell them what's up, they'll help you out.
I know that with the iBook, the keyboard is a customer replaceable part, but I don't believe it is with the PowerBook.
    Anyway, good luck.

  • Chrome bezel falling off 3Gs, sim not reading and WiFi strength decreasing?

Well the chrome bezel started to fall off my phone about a month ago even though it was only purchased in May ¬¬ I'm only concerned about this now as it's just rendered my phone unuseable basically, when you touch the top of the phone, the sim goes unreadable and the WiFi only works if I'm about 2 meters away from my router, dust has also started to collect under the screen. I'm going crazy here as I need my phone for work and I don't have a spare phone. If I was to take it down to the Apple Store, would they fix it or replace it or something? I have warranty till mid 2012.

Very well could.  How could you prove that a drop strong enough to dent the case couldn't have caused the problem you're currently having?
In any case, no one here can predict what will happen.  Just go there, be nice, and maybe you'll luck out.  But be prepared to pay anyway.

  • Printer falls off after connecting to the network (wired)

Hello! I'm using a Hp Officejet pro 8600 plus printer for over 2 years without any problems.Since to day it's connected via a switch and the printer is giving a error and the display shows "please turn the printer of and restart". I've done this a couple of times and every single time it falls off.... Does anyone knows where this problem might be?

first there is the EVW3226EU modem/router from Ubee that's wired to a 5way switch from Dlink (the DGS-1005D). The printer is wired to the switch.

  • Click wheel falling off!

I searched and found many posts about unresponsive click wheels, but that's not my problem. The click wheel on my wife's 5.5Gen iPod is threatening to pop off! It's like a scab that's ready to go, just hanging in place in the top-left corner (where the ribbon cable is attached). I've googled for this problem, and can only find someone with a first-gen iPod having this issue. Has anyone else seen this? Does the wheel snap in place, or has some support broken inside? How can I repair?
The really crappy part is that I bought this iPod brand new 4 MONTHS ago. It was already old tech, but I wanted one that would dock with all the iPod stuff in the house (kitchen radio, clock radio, portable screen, etc) that I have for MY 5.5G iPod. I'm anticipating having a hard time getting service under warranty because it came from a seller on Ebay who wasn't necessarily an authorized reseller...but the traditional authorized resellers were no longer selling the 5.5G model.
This iPod has never been dropped, squished, or anything. It sits on the arm of the sofa and has never even been out of the house! It looks as good as it did on the day 4 months ago when I pulled it, brand new, out of its sealed package -- except, of course, for the click wheel that's about to fall off!
Message was edited by: snoutmeat (changed "scroll wheel" to "click wheel" throughout)

I've checked on Ebay and I see that the click wheel is sold separately by several vendors, but in their pics, the wheel has a little tab at each of the 4 corners that holds it in place. This would imply that my wheel should have 4 little tabs on it -- but it has none. As far as I can tell, the click wheel is just sitting in place. I just pressed on the wheel all the way around, hoping that this would re-seat it, and it seems to be sitting where it belongs. It's working perfectly, but...I'm afraid the wheel will pop out again. I looked carefully at the wheel, and can't see any evidence that it ever had those 4 tabs that appear on the replacement item. The tabs indicate to me that replacement involves cracking open the case (been there, done that with my old 1st Gen), pulling the face off, disconnecting old click wheel's ribbon cable, connecting new wheel, and reassembling. Doesn't seem too heinous. Anyone done it? All the wheels on Ebay seem to be black, so I'd have a 2-tone. (Edit -- found white ones on Ebay too)

  • Macbook Pro - dramatic fall off in performance

I use my MBP mainly for music applications, in particular with Ableton Live. Recently I have noticed a severe fall off in performance. I have corroborated this with a benchmark test developed by the Live user community. Others on the same or previous models to mine are getting results way below me. 20%-27% on Live's CPU meter as opposed my 38%.(although Activity Monitor shows a 76% hit on the processor. The problem is especially noticeable when using Audio Units. Having done some research I have seen people talking about two possible causes. A recent update to Core Audio, and enforced processor stepping with no option to disable it. If anyone has any suggestions as to what can be done to get my MBP back to the state it was in when I bought it in June I would appreciate it.

  • Do the rubber feet on the MBP fall off???

    Hi -
I got my MacBook Pro back in June.
The rubber feet on this thing are great, keep it gripped to the table, keep it elevated slightly...
Problem I've encounterd recently is that the rubber feet are getting some scratches on them.
I suspect it being due to my just putting it on a table, the table must have at times, had little crumbs or debris or something that could have caused it to scratch? I don't know.
The scratches are minimal - they are, for the most part, cosmetic.
My fear is that these will fall off. I've read that Apple keeps the MBP overnight and wants $50 to replace the feet, and that the feet actually screw into the case.
With all that being said, is it likely that the feet on the MBP will just fall off or break off??
I'm loving my MacBook... but seeing how these rubber feet get scratches so easily, without really even having anything sharp touching them, I am a bit concerned. I've put it on a surface, and I'm guessing something very small left over had scratched the rubber feet. I'm not sure... I'm not an expert on that. The scratches are minimal, I'd consider them to be cosmetic, but this is still a concern of mine.
    Thanks.

You can get them from the Apple store. I know the geniuses definitely have them, or they used to. Don't know about the people actually working on the floor.
For the new model with the wide black feet? Already?
I take it you now have a paper-punch-sized hole where the foot was, correct?
What I might do while we wait for replacement MB AL feet to become widely available (in any case), is get some Avery removable colored dots to cover up the hole(s). If at all possible, if the missing foot is from the screwed-on case rather than the access panel, I'd move a remaining foot from the removable panel to the case. The feet look as if they can be pushed out from inside.
I'm not sure how they are installed on the MB AL case, but it'd seem you got a poorly glued one.
So far we're fine. If enough people report foot loss here's hoping Apple'l put up a tech note about it.
It's conceiveable that your foot failed so early because the MB was exposed to an unusual temperature/humidity environment, or an out-of-spec glue job slipped through QA.
Every one of these new MB's & MB Pros are warrantied till at least October of the coming year, so it shouldn't cost you anything if there are enough instances of foot loss reported.

  • Unhinged Display - About To Fall Off! (but still works)

    Hello
the other day, completely out of the blue, my laptop screen did something funny. The left hing effectively snapped, so that the furthest left white plastic thing is now no longer "tucked in" to the screen. See a picture of it at this link:
    http://stellarrunning.org/temp/IMG_1193.jpg
This then, about 4 hours later, happened to the right side. Now, the screen will not stay up when I put it up. it just sort of flaps around, such that I need to lean the screen against something so it doesn't fall flat.
It feels as the whole screen is about to completely fall off the computer, but for the moment it still works.
    I have 2 quesetions:
    1. Is this something I can fix? (with a couple spare parts, etc.)
    2. Assuming that it is not, how much would it cost to fix? Can it be done without replacing the whole monitor? (right now, the only thing broken is the hinge, not the monitor)
    thanks!

wow MINE DID TOO!just yesterday...and I am on working holiday in rome, where things dont run as smoothly as we would like, seems repairing is out of the question. as Im being told it would be 1,000 dollars to change and replace the entire screen. I've lst so far only the left hing, same thing happened out of the blue. glad to hear yours still works fine though--worried about the amount of unbacked up folders...and the possiblity of it just koncking out on me soon.. I'll check here later to see if youve gotten good news..for us both! cas

  • How do you know when items will fall off your credit reports?

Can anyone tell me how you know what date items will fall off your credit report? Thanks

Each individual type of adverse information has its own exclusion date.  They are all set forth in FCRA 605(a). DOFD applies only to a collection or charge-off, which have an exclusion date of no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the DOFD.Monthly account delinquencies are excluded no later than 7 years from their individual dates of occurence.BKs are exluded at 7 or 10 years, depending upon their type.Tax liens become excluded no later than 7 years from date paid.Judgments become excluded on the later of 7 years from date entered, or until the expiration of the statute of limitations on enforceability of the judgment. The credit report exclusion periods are imposed on the CRAs, and set forth the date after which they can no longer include that adverse item in credit reportes they issue. The CRAs are thus required to monitor the relevant date for each type of adverse item.  The consumer should no have to request exclusion or remind the CRA of the exclusion date, but it is possible that they could miss a date, so the consumer should monitor.

  • Enabling ALL VLANs on a trunk link causes downstream hosts to intermittently fall off the network

In an effort to begin collapsing switches, I began to configure our two 3750g Core switches to Allow all VLANs to trunk to a downstream 6500.
The cores are HSRP-configured and are the root bridge priorities are set to match the HSRP active router correctly.
The trunk link that currently existed between the 3750 and the 6500 allowed only about 8 vlans, and the other day I removed the restriction to allow ALL VLANs 1-4096.
Then the next day, people started noticing servers not accessible and I investigated and noticed that they were intermittently failing ping replies. These servers were DOWNSTREAM from the 6500 two switches deep using trunk links as well.
One troubleshooting step I did was I pinged one of the HSRP IPs for the subnet the inaccessible server was on, got a reply from the gateway, and then I pinged the server again, and it replied!
Another behavior I noticed was that I was starting to have trouble telneting in to the the two switches downstream from the 6500. Sometimes I could telnet to one of them, other times I couldn't. These downstream switches are the ones that had the server ports for the servers that were intermittnetly dropping off the network. So at a time when I could session into one of these downstream switches I could ping the servers from there. THen their MACs would show up in the table and then I could ping them from anywhere. I would wait for five minutes for the MACs to age out and then low-and-behold the servers were no longer accessible from the user locations until pinged them from the switches they were on.
So, I gave up trying to fix, rolled back my trunk link betwen the 3750 and the 6500 to the few VLANs allowed as before, and then everything was happy again. I could ping all the servers, I could session in to all the downstream switches from the 6500.
    Network topology: [3750-core]---TrunkLinkAllowedAll---[6500chassis]---trunklink---[3750-3-switchStack]----trunklink---[3750]
Any insights would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!

    Thanks nkarthikeyan.
VTP transparent mode and pvst+ was definitely in place. I went ahead and did exactly what you said; the only thing that was different from what you said to do was the way I had allowing ALL VLANs on the trunk from Core to the 6500. I allowed only the needed VLANs on that trunk and all seems to be fine.
I still want to know why setting the trunk to allow 1-4094 would cause hosts to fall off the network and switch flooding to not work right. I did read some articles on the effects asymmetric routing can have on unicast flooding and perhaps that's the issue, since my core 3750 is configured with another core switch in an HSRP pair.
