Seeking a LogicPro bass that sounds good on earbuds or heavy speakers?

Some people will listen to my music on earbuds and some through speakers with heavy magnets -- the bass sound in particular is notably different in these two venues. I'm seeking a bass instrument (guitar? upright? unknown?) that can be heard over the full range of speakers, from the nearly nonexistent bass inside an Air, to the acceptable but low fidelity earbuds, to heavy floor speakers with the ability to shake the windows. I don't want to shake the windows, but I do want to be heard through the Air. Can these two extremes ever meet for a bass instrument?

You statement is very interesting.
I suppose its a sound driver issue lets hope Toshiba will publish an new sound driver update. This should helps

  • Music on hold that sounds good on a cell phone..?

What is the secret to MOH sounding good on the cell phone? We have tried the built-in MOH file, tried uploading an MP3 via OfficeManager, and plugged in Muzack via the external port. All sounds good internally, all sound terrible on a cell phone. I have read some audio-techy articles on why this is true for hold music in general (not just Cisco), but what I really need to know is the tweak to CLI needed to make it sound right, if such a tweak exists..
    thanks!

I have resolved this issue and I am posting the resolution to the forum to help others.
I confirmed the UC560 preferred codec was G.711, secondary was G.729. I checked it in CLI.
I contacted AT&T. By far the worst part of this ordeal was AT&T. Basically, you have to call VOIP support and ask for tier-2. No one at tier-1 (or AT&T support-by-email!) knows what a CODEC is or even how its spelled. Tier-2 knows how its spelled, but will send you to tier-3. Shockingly, my tier-3 support person knew all about poor quality MOH with G729. She logged into the router at my client (which was Cisco) and changed the preferred CODEC to G.711 and secondary to G.729. But that didn't fix it. I had to go back to tech support tier-1 and ask for a call-back. Shockingly, tier-3 called back within 30 minutes. This time she forced all incoming calls to G.711 and outgoing calls were left at G.711/729. And now the MOH is much better!
Something else that was very handy was the fact the tier-3 person could track my test call from my cell phone through their system and confirm which CODEC was being used.
BTW, if you plan to switch CODECs, G.711 uses more bandwidth than G.729. Your provider should confirm you have enough bandwidth to make the switch.

  • Audio sounds good on computer but shakey on TV in spots

    Hello,
2 hr project. all audio levels are consistently between -6 and -12. Project sounds perfect in fcpx. When exported to dvd and played on a computer it sounds fine, BUT when played on a new hd tv audio at various points in the project make the tv's audio shake just a little.
I used bass boost throughout project cause i wanted a fuller sound. I think it might be that, but short of having to go in and adjust all bass levels i was wondering if anyone knew of a filter in fcpx that normalizes everything so that it sounds good on computers and tvs? i think there's a broadcast safe filter. Will that take care of the problem, or is there something else? A little more detail - my audio levels were originally above -6 consistently via an someone who worked on the projedct throughout entire project. when i moved them back between -6 and -12 i didn't adjust any of the bass boost levels that he originally established.
    Thanks for your help! joe

    Update....
So far, the video made with iDVD only sounds clear via the computer or surround sound system. The sound is hissing/fuzzy sounding at the "s" and "f" sounds on ALL regular tv speakers that I've tried it on, mono or stereo either one.
I saw the reply that stated there are no audio settings in iDVD with "OneStep..." So nothing can be adjusted in iDVD to make it sound good on all tvs? And no clues as to what's causing this issue?

  • What are so good setting to make vocals sound good on garageband?

i was wondering what were some good setting on garageband to help make my vocals sound good?

This is a quick-and-dirty setup for vocals.
    Two disclaimers:
    1. Even a "perfect" mix for one context will be the wrong mix for another. This is *only* a workhorse configuration and no more. Edit it to taste.
    2. Other people may give you a "basic" template to work with which doesn't resemble this one at all, and both can be good. There's no one way to do this, so be open to all input.
    - First, get a new track going. Make sure the inputs are set as they should be and the monitor is on.
    - Go to the track's "edit" tab.
    - Set the noise gate at an appropriate level. This might take a little bit of trial and error, as setting it too low (obviously) lets in hiss and setting it too high will block out quiet dynamics and the tail end of long notes. Experiment with it, as everyone will be different.
    - Turn on Compressor. Set Threshold for max, set ratio for max, set attack all the way to the left (fast) and adjust gain to taste.
    - Turn on Visual EQ. Use the high-mid band to add a little bump (about +5dB in the 2500Hz range). Then use the treble band to add a bit of "air" (about +5dB in the 12000Hz range. Depending on how it sounds you may want to play with the low-mid and bass bands to taste.
I find this is good for vocals that are buried in full-band arrangements (add reverb, echo and short reflection reverb to taste) and also for podcasts.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Looking for ringtone that sounds like a landline p...

    Hi,
I'm looking for ringtone that sounds like a landline phone, in other words no music, movie sounds, etc., just a good quality tone that sounds like a conventional (old fashioned even) telephone ring. Any ideas what site I can get one from?
    Many thanks, etc.
PS. Handset is a Nokia 6300.

Have a look at the ones I posted here they are a more traditional kind of ring rather than old fashioned ones though.

  • Audio Sounds good in SP and bad in FCP

    Hi,
I preface: Recently i did a clean up of system with prefernce manager and pro maintenance tools.
I just sent an audio file from FCP to Soundtrack Pro (SP) to get rid of clicks. Sounded great in SP but with more clicks  than it originally had in FCP. Never had this problem. I'm sure it's related to the fact when i went to export the file from SP after taking clicks out it asked me if I wanted to Reference Source Audio or Include Source Audio. I chose Include Source Audio even though it said in the box that it wouldn't  play correctly if I didn't reference source audio, but it said i could change the setting in preferences back to the default. I did change it back to reference source audio, resaved and exported and it still has all those clicks in FCP.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    joe

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for your help. I played it in i tunes and fcp today and it sounds good in both, but yesterday it was cracking throughout. I don't understand. Bizarre.
    Thanks again!

  • The Doors doesn't sound good

Some of you might be thinking Doors don't make sound or something like that. The Doors is an old band I listen to. They don't sound as good as the other downloaded music stuff I have like Black Rain. It's sort of hard to hear their voices... The Equalizer Vocal Booster doesn't sound good either. On Pandora Radio it sounds good.
Also is an m4a file a iTunes ONLY file? I do not want my music appearing in WMA. Especially some songs that are kind of childish... Erm.... Yeah...
    HI!!!

.m4a files are regular AAC format which is one of the formats you can use to rip your own CD's into iTunes. Any hardware that is compatible with unprotected AAC format can play that time of file. I'm not sure, but I don't think that AAC is compatible with WMP which is what I think you mean. WMA is another type of format that is PC compatible only. If you are talking about store purchases, there are 2 types of files, protected AAC format, .m4p, & purchased AAC format which is also a .m4a file. The purchased AAC is the new DRM free format that is available from EMI records in the store. Hope this helps.

  • Satellite C55-A-1N1 - lack of bass, tinny sound

Just got my new Toshiba laptop.
Anyone know if there is a fix to the sound issues with this model.
It has been widely reported this model suffers from lack of bass/ tinny sound but I have not yet found a solution.
I think DTS has something to do with it but not 100% sure,
Could it be something to do with the driver?

In the past some notebook owners have reported about the same issue with sound on several Toshiba notebooks although the fact that these notebooks and your Satellite C55-A have small standard stereo speakers only. Such speakers cannot offer some high quality sound like notebooks with build in harman/kardon speakers.
So there is nothing to fix or change. All you can do is to change sound settings on equaliser for player that you use. For better sound you can use either headphones or external speakers.
Sorry but there is not much you can do about it.

Hey Guys, I have a IMAC G5 and I just uploaded Ilife 08 to it,  the problem is, when I create a DVD it sounds good until I burn it. About 1/4 of the way through it the sound stops..  What's going on with it?   Is it the encoding proocess??  I'm stumped... Help me out here!

    Hi
    A. iMovie'08 to 11 are not the tools of choice if one aim to do a DVD as they all discard the quality of the picture by discarding every second line in it. NO way around this due to that it happens between Event's and Project's so as soon as it is being edited - Quality is lost.
    B. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut
    C. if iM'08 to 11 is a must - THEN DO NOT - Share to iDVD - BUT - "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (or ev. Medium)
THEN DO - Save as a DiskImage and see that this plays OK and ALL SOUND
    D. if added audio from iTunes - then instead in iTunes - Collect all needed Audio into a NEW PlayList then BURN this as an Audio-CD (.aiff - NOT .mp3 or other) - Then use the Files on this CD in Your Movie Project's (I do)
    E. I only use .aiff audio - 48kHz 16-bit (miniDV tape Camera) or 44.1kHz Audio CD - NEVER .mp3 or .wma or other file format - ALL is converted first into .aiff - ALWAYS ! - I have very few problem with Audio in my projects in iMovie or FinalCut !

  • How can I turn a recorded voice into multiple voices that sound like a group of singers?

I'm using Logic Pro 9. Could someone teach me how to turn a single recorded voice into multiple voices that sound like a group singing together
by mixing or other techniques ? I don't have the luxury of a group singing together with me when I do recording. Advices would be much appreciated!

By far the most natural way to achieve this is for the singer to perform multiple takes - even if you've only one singer. At it's simplest, you could just double track the vocal part, although I prefer 3 parts - panned centre, left & right. Then repeat this process for each harmony, & mix accordingly.
Melodyne & some of the above methods do work on am single voice, but phase cancellation can be an issue if your not careful with each part's timing & panning. If you can only get a couple of decent takes from the singer, far better to perform any harmony/pitching techniques on the second take to avoid any phase issues. It's not uncommon for a singer to perform each vocal part 5-10 times, then comp (edit) the best takes so that you end up with 3 decent takes.
If you've only only one voice to work with Antares Harmony EFX is a useful alternative.

  • Corrupted images in Trash that duplicate good images

I have about 12000 images in a managed database (3.5.1).  I had not paid attention to the Aperture Trash for quite a while, but now noted a large number of entries (1200).  Some are truly images I rejected, but some images display as various dots or streaks of colors.  The image information (filename, date, project) in the Trash for the ones I sampled leads me to a perfectly good image in the stated project.  These Aperture Trash entries would appear to be due to some hiccup within Aperture.  As a test I tried to edit one of the entries using Photoshop Elements.  The message stated that the image file could not be found.  I did all of the steps in the Aperture first aid menu (permissions, repair and rebuild) without any effect.
My concern is how to verify that no good images somehow are now only in the Aperture Trash.  Bouncing back and forth from the Trash to the projects is too time consuming. I am thinking of simply being able to list the trash entries by filename somehow separately and then using the search tools to display the good photos within Aperture for comparison.
My recollection is that emptying Aperture Trash will put the files into my user trash.  If so, I could easily sort them in Finder and display using QuickView.
What is the best way of dealing with this?

Fixed it.  Did what I described above with a bit of a twist.  Updated a vault on an external drive.  Then changed the extension from .apvault to .aplibrary.  Opened it and deleted Aperture Trash.  This way the removed items will appear in my user Trash, but only while the volume is connected.  Just a safety measure.  Thankfully and surprisingly, the trashed images were all good images.  I then listed the images in the Finder and used the necessary search criteria in my library to verify their inclusion.  Then emptied the real library's Trash and then emptied my user Trash while the volume was mounted.
Bottom line this was a waste of time since nothing was removed from my good library.  But had to verify.  I don't recall any issues with Aperture, so this is a really strange quirk.  A large number of the items were random ones recently added.  I have been scanning old films to a folder and then dragging groups of newly scanned images directly into a project.  And not doing anything to the images.
All is well that ends well

  • Is that a good practice to use syncronize methods for application scope cls

Is that a good practice to use synchronize method in a application scope class, so I have a doubt, there a is class A, it has application scope and it contains a synchronized method add, so because of some network traffic or any unexpected exception client1 got stuck in the method, will that add method available for any other client...?

If it needs synchronization, then it probably doesn't belong in the application scope. Either keep it as is, or reconsider the scope, or make it static.

  • Does This Sound Good?

I'm a student and am looking at purchasing a MacBook Pro to replace and old Dell Desktop. On my laptop I plan on having about 40-50Gb of iTunes movies, Music, TV Shows, etc. Also, being a student, I am obviously going to use Microsoft Office all of the time and probably iWork '06. I am also purchasing Final Cut Express HD because I do like to play around and edit digital video. And of course, I do tons of web browsing.
This is my first mas and this is how I would like to configure it.
    15.4" Display
    2.16GHz C2D
1GB RAM (I will buy another 1GB stick from newegg.com)
    160Gb Hard Drive
    iWork '06 Pre-installed
And later in the year when I have more money, get the AppleCare PLan
Let me know if this sounds like an Okay configuration for my needs.

    Hi,
that sounds like a config that fits your needs.
    Two suggestions:
    1. Don't buy iWork preinstalled, but play with the 30-day demo, that is already on the HD.
If you like it, you can buy it later for the same price, if not, you save money.
    2. Instead of MS Office, which with version 2004 isn't Universal Binary (that should come with version 2008 later this year), have a look at NeoOffice.
It is free and capable of reading the 2007-Windows-file formats.
    Have Fun
