Seeking an Adobe Consultant

I would like to hire an Adobe expert to help me with download deliverability of PDF documents.
I sell continuing education courses to engineers and all courses require download of a PDF course document. Here is a sample of one such document that is particularly troublesome because of the search button. http://s3.amazonaws.com/suncam/pdocs/125_.pdf

The normal reason for stuff not working is that people are using the internal PDF libraries from Chrome/Firefox/etc. instead of Adobe Reader. All those browsers use the internal renderer by default, and of course it has no concept of 'open a menu item'.
You could craft the PDF so it will fail completely outside of Reader (e.g. by building an XFA file instead of a PDF), or you could slap a big warning message on the first page - but you cannot force a remote system to open a PDF in a specific application, either from within the PDF file or at the HTTP request level. You can't even tell what plugins someone has installed.

Well, I've never been to Boulder (although I have been to

Hybris + Adobe CQ integration issue

I'm working on external Hybris + Adobe CQ integration. My website for products display has been initialized based on geometrixx-outdoors template.
I'm using following article as an howto:

For now have some success
1. I've already loaded my catalog and with products on Adobe
2. User/Session sharing also works partially
The only problem here is for anonimous user. The method call commerceSession.getCartEntryCount() on start page -> userinfo panel throws

What version of CQ are you using?
To your problems: Have you allowed access for the anonymous user on Hybris?

Read Only HTML Forms using adobe livecycle Output ES

Thank you so much for being so kind to spend the effort and reply back, I though my question was left behind the sun... but now I am very happy in deed.
To be more specific, the Form has 2 parts. The first part "Subform1" any one can fill and sign.
The second part "Subform2", only certain users can fill and sign.
I think I found a very strong lead to my solution, when I was playing with LiveCycle Desinger few days ago.
On the Singature Field Advanced Setting, there is a place you can attach the public part of a certificate (Digital Signature) of any user, one or more.
In this part, you tell LC that only those users "signing parties" can sign the field. I tested it and it worked.
Now, if I can use this feature via JavaScript to find out if the user who is filling the form, can sign this field, then he can fill the form. If he cannot sign the field, then he cannot fill the form. I can do that by setting the "access" property of the Subform. Another solution is that I can prevent the user from hitting the "Submit" button unless he signes the designated Signature Field.
I have another small issue:
I found out that if the Signature field is part of a repeating dynamic Subform, it will not work during run-time. Very bad in deed. While I cannot understand why ?, I tool this as "By Desing" feature.
Now, if the Signature is locking parts of forms which has dynamic content (repeating subforms), it will always show somthing like "Signature is corrupted or form was changed after it was signed".
Is this normal ? Is there a way to control Dynamic Forms using Digital Signatures without such annoying issues ?

How to use generated code from "Import Web Services" with Cairngorm Framework

I recently downloaded Flex Builder 3 beta 2 and tried out the
wizard that lets you import web services. The code that is
auto-generated makes if fairly straight forward to consume web
services using the object types defined in the WSDL. No longer does
the developer need to decode the XML payload! The only problem I am
having is how does you integrate the auto- generated code with the
Cairngorm framework? This seems like a huge question for anyone who
might want to leverage Cairngorm and the auto-generated proxy code
in the same project (like me).
Here are the problems that I see so far.
1) How do you configure the generated service class to work
with the Cairngorm service locator? The service constructor only
accepts a “LCDS destination string” which implies that
you must use Lifecycle data services. Unfortunately, the project I
am trying to retrofit currently uses a WebService and does not use
data services. All I really need to do is change the endpoint URL
(ie from local to a development server). This issue is noted in the
bug https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-8456. What I think is
needed is a way to set the endpointURI in the Services.mxml file.
2) Even if I come up with a hack around #1, I do not receive
a callback to my IResponder even though I register it immediately
after the method call. I can register and listener function within
my business delegate and receive the callback, but my Command
object, which implements IResponder, does not receive the call back
even though it is registered. From what I read in the ASDocs it
should but it doesn’t for me!
These are the issues I have observed in 3 hours of messing
with this. I hope this makes sense. I would love to integrate
auto-generated web service proxies into Cairngorm but I don’t
see a straight forward way without re-architecting Cairngorm. Has
any one else run across this issue? If so, do you have any insights
on how to proceed? Any help is appreciated.

Since I posted this question, I have abandoned the notion of
auto-generated web services and embraced the good old FDS concept
where the RemoteObject meta-tag does all the conversion work for
me. We are now using the Granite DS package and it is working well
for us. I would love to consume web services, but it just isn't
worth the hassle when all you have to do with Granite (and FDS) is
cast your return objects to the proper object type.
BTW, since this posting, I have investigated competing Flex
app frameworks. After my research, I checked out the PureMVC
framework. Wow!! Cairngorm always left me with an uneasy feeling
and I guess I am not alone. Apparently, Cliff Hall felt the same
way. That is why he started the project. I like his approach alot
more than Cairngorm especially since it includes notifications
which allow me to broadcast my own app level events independent
from the AS Event framework. Check out PureMVC. For what it is
worth, it has my humble endorsement. Cliff was even gracious enough
to acknowledge the other Adobe Consulting guys for their work. Good
for you Cliff, I respect that. Check out a better way at

Running RoboHelp 10 and RoboHelp 11 on the same system

Background
Windows 7, 64-bit operating system.
Upgraded RoboHelp 10 to RoboHelp 11 this week. Upgraded my RH10 WebHelp Proj project (released with our 2.0 application) to start editing for release with 3.0 application next June .
The upgrade did not uninstall RoboHelp 10.
I work from within Visual Studio 2010 Professional. (I know that this is not a Source Control thread, but my issues are intertwined here.)
I create WebHelp Pro (even though we are not yet publishing to RH Server, although we're working on it!).
I check the output into Release folders in Souce Control, and the build picks up the files for installation with our application.
Questions
If I need to update the 2.0 application Help, does anyone know whether I can still use RH10 to update that project? (I've posed the question to an Adobe consultant, but have not yet heard back.)
If I can't use RH10 to update the 2.0 application Help (and have to open the 2.0 project in RH11 and, therefore, upgrade it), are there new things in RH11 that could affect the WebHelp Pro output and, therefore, affect the use of the WebHelp Pro HTM files by the application? (Our release engineer believes that, for version control purposes, I must make changes to the 2.0 project in the same RH Client used to develop it.)

First, (and to reiterate what Rick said) if you are not publishing to RoboHelp Server right now. Do NOT use WebHelp Pro. The Pro flavor is strictly for hosting on a RoboHelp Server installation.
The good news is that when and if you do decide to use RoboHelp Server, you simply take the Rh project (whether from Rh 10 or 11) and publish it with the WebHelp Pro SSL. It sounds like there is a some confusion between RoboHelp Server and Source Control. It is a common option to use RoboHelp Server and Source Control. But they are mutually exclusive. (While both may be used, they have nothing to do with one another.)
If you think about it, RoboHelp Server is output (by definition not "source")
So, you can continue using Rh 10 and 11 clients on the same computer, but as you note, you cannot open an Rh 10 project in Rh 11 because it is a one-way forward conversion (as Peter said).
As for publishing, be aware that when you move to RoboHelp Server, the publishing workflow is different. The web admin can't simply copy/paste WebHelp Pro output (from source control as you describe) to the Rh Server (or, as you said, "pick up files"). The project must be published from the RoboHelp 10/11 client directly to the Rh Server. This is because Rh Server is a database application and in order for the database to be "aware" of the new content, it must come from the RoboHelp client app (10 or 11). Also, in terms of Application Help and context sensitivity, there is a CSH API and a syntax that is used to call the Rh Server help topics from the application. This is covered in the online help. See the sub head "Access context-sensitive Help" in the Adobe RoboHelp Server 9 * RoboHelp Server Web Administrator tasks as well as Adobe RoboHelp 11 * Program Help for web pages

Problem to open a dashboard inside a pdf file

Viewing and Printing Acrobat 3D Files

I'm an Adobe consultant and trainer, and I have a couple questions about Acrobat 3D.
Most print service providers are not going to have copies of Acrobat 3D. If 3D objects are created or imported into Acrobat 3D, can it be opened and viewed in Acrobat Professional? Can it printed in Acrobat Professional?
What happens to the 3D? Lonn Lorenz of Adobe told me today at Adobe's Momentum in Print show here in San Francisco that it would be converted to a bitmapped proxy, but he wasn't sure if it would be low-res or high-res. Which is it?
How does Adobe Reader fit with Acrobat 3D? The data sheet mentioned Reader 7.0.7 for reviewing PDFs from Acrobat 3D files. Will that be available for both Mac and Windows or Windows only? When will it be available?

I just spent a day looking into various 3D publishing and viewing options and so far have found Acrobat 3D to be the most promising. However, after experimenting with a trial version, I have run into some problems.
At first I tried the CAPTURE feature thinking this was the best way to create the 3D image. While I was successful, the image was dark and rather large, and my CAD program bogged down badly.
Then I realized Acrobat 3D could read 3D Studio files which my program can create, and the results were excellent. The original colors were carried over, the file size was smaller and image manipulation in Acrobat 3D was excellent. But when opening the files with Reader 7.0.5 I had the following problems:
1. If the rendering is set to DirectX, the image is totally white; only setting to "Software" gives the correct results.
2. With one file, parts of the model were lost when opened in Reader.
3. The largest file (1.5mb pdf) was very slow to manipulate.
4. Lighting results are not as good.
5. Sections are not possible.
I am producing more and more work in 3D and the possibility of clients being able to view 3D models is very exciting. However, the results with the current Reader are simply not good enough to justify the investment in Acrobat 3D. I understand Reader 7.0.7 will have improved 3D capability; will the above shortcomings be addressed?

Digital Asset management

Hi all,
I've been using idImager to keep track of photos and videos. The one problem I have found with this product is setting it up in a collaborative environment.
I was wondering what people are using to keep track of the digital assests and where they are used.
The things I need to keep track of are:
Images
Video (complete and clips)
Audio files
Cubase and Ableton Live projects (and their assets)
Adobe project files
CC Prelude looks like it is only usefult for video clip pull in.
Any ideas?

We use WebDAM for collaboration and digital asset management. Its an awesome DAM Software . For all design activities, our entire team uses Adobe Creative Cloud. They both seem to work really well together. Managing your images, video (complete vids and clips), audio files, projects, adobe files, and almost any file is completly supported. WebDAM also allows us to control versions, edit and control metadata, supports EXIF and XMP metadata standards, comment on assets, automatically convert file formats, set expiration dates, get automated alerts when others work on files, easy search, viewing capabilities, control access, and share/secure/collaborate on our files anytime from anyplace. Its super easy to use. Our team also loves the video module which allows you to serve your videos and clips to various websites, control versions, etc. haha, sounds like a sales pitch. I'm pretty sure Intel, New Balance Shoes, Santa Cruz, Symantec, GE, bunch of design agencies, and almost every college uses WebDAM. Being near Adobe's headquarters in Silicon Valley, I think their software engineers interact with Adobe consultants as well.
But I guess the question is, are you looking for something to use for your entire team, company, or just for personal use? That will determine what type of software you should be looking for.

Web Dynpro to EJB

I built a small application in Web dynpro which takes an XDP and XML and renders it with a limited set of Reader Rights which works great.. What I trying to do now is to port the code to an EJB with a Web Services so that this can be accessed by other systems..
When I call my web service i get the following error.. any ideas...

Flex User Interfaces

I'm new to Flex. I've seen some great apps with great user
interfaces done in it. I have this question:
Is there ANYWHERE that helps one think about appropriately
laying out the Flex user interface? A book, a PDF, a style guide,
etc.? This would include, particularly, when to use container type
X vs container type Y, etc. Even a description of the best use of
all the containers and controls would be useful.

RTMP + HTTP Dynamic Streaming

We are about to build a flash based online application. We need the best video support, therefore we would like to have a video player that has all the advantages like adaptive bitrate, caching, dynamic seek.
We just got to know the new HTTP Dynamic Streaming solution that gives us the caching if we use a streaming solution in order to provide the adaptive bitrate functionality and the dynamic seeking.
Adobe has two products for streaming: Flash Media Interactive Server, Flash Media Streaming Server . There is a huge difference in terms of price between those two. Which one should we choose? We won't need to record any videos.
The other big question is the file encoding. As we saw we need h264 videos saved on the server. Which server side software/framework/library do you recommend to use? ffmpeg? We have a Linux server.

Regarding the difference between Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Streaming Server, the latter is specifically mentioned for only streaming use cases and no interactivity can be added to your applications. This will be perfectly suiting live scenario and video-on-demand cases. As you mentioned, this cannot/do not record any streams on the server. The former is a fully expandable interactive server where one can develop rich interactive applications including video recording (and hence DVR functionalities) and much more.
Adobe's OSMF (Open Source Media Framework) flash based players are the best fit for all the reqiurements mentioned. You might want to give it a try @ www.osmf.org
For File encoding and transcoding, we have a slew of Adobe Products that you might want to take a look at, like Adobe Media Encoder, CS5 suite, etc.
For live video Encoding , please take a look at the Flash Media Live Encoder.
