  • BO training with SAP Development background(ABAP)

HI guys. I just wanted to see what everyone's option is regarding Business objects development.
I have about 8 years of SAP development experience. Mostly with ABAP and web dynpro.
I have given the opportunity to take BO training for our future implementation.
Is there specific class you recommend me taking?
Would I benefit in the future if I have ABAP + BO development experience? or am I comparing apple and oranges here?
would it be better if I take BW(instead of BO)?
    Just looking for you thoughts.
    thanks

Our company is currently implementing SAP BPC and BO
I was given the opportunity to take some training but I am not sure which way to go about it.
I am leaning towards BO for the fact that it integrates with 3rd party software/DBs and I dont have to be tied to SAP till eternity.
But at the same time, I have some reservations going the BO way because of my many years of ABAP experience which I think BW will suit me better in the short term( less learning curve).
Can someone who has been in my shoes provide some insight into my future?
One of the reasons I am leading more towards BO is for the  fact that HANA will provide most of the  BW functionality build into it in the future. This argument alone makes me hesitant to invest myself in BW at this time.
Also , does BO have much to do with SAP BPC?  I hear is that most of the development work will be done in EXCEL and BW? is this true? will there be need for BO developer?

  • IPhone Apps and Dev Center

I'm looking to make some iPhone Applications. Before I pay to be a Developer I wanted to get a few questions answered. I am pretty tech savvy and have a Macbook Pro. I'm not an expert at HTML, Flash, etc though. Would I still be able to make Apps? And how easy does the Dev Center make it to develop applications.
    Thanks.

You can download the SDK to start developing your applications for free. It is only when you want to submit these to the App store where you need to pay the ADC fee.
My suggestion would be to brush up on Objective C and Cocoa and download the SDK. Start playing around.

  • Restore developer's iphone

    Hi,
I have just purchased an iphone 4 second hand from an app developer. It already has ios5 on it but he reset the phone prior to giving it to me. So at the moment, when I plug the phone in, itunes tells me we're unable to complete your activation . this device is not registered as part of the iphone developer program.
Thing is, I would like to restore it to a prior version of ios so I can just use the phone while waiting for ios 5 to come out. Is there a way to ''hard restore'' the iphones ? I cannot do so with itunes....
    thx

Apple had some notice to developers about not being able to restore back to anything older than iOS 5, but they should also be able to install the final official release of iOS 5 onto a device running dev. releases.  However, the developer would need to do that, as only he has the means to restore the device and remove it from his list of dev. devices.
Copntact the developer whom you purchased from.  I'm not an iOS developer, so do not know the details of restoring a dev. iPhone to original state, but the developer would be the one who could do that.

  • Problem with Icon in App Store Browse Screen

    Hi folks,
My app just got approved and I can search for and install it fine.  However, when I browse for it on the App Store, I get a black box where my logo should be:
    <image not shown but it's self-explanatory>
Now it's possible that this is because my logo is black on transparent, but other boxes here show other colors (like white, light blue, etc.)  How do I set that so my icon shows up?  Also, do I need to go through another approval process to make
    this change?
The icon looks correct in the search screen, so this is a bit irritating.
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
I would suggest you resubmit the app again, and make notes to the testers that you are only updating the app icon. If the issue persists, go ahead and open
support ticket so this can be looked into further.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  • How do you get a developer certificate to run programs on an iphone?

Argh! This is so frustrating, In one of the help documents it says this:
    Obtaining a Developer Certificate
A developer certificate is a certificate Xcode uses to code sign your application before it uploads it to your device for testing.
    To get a developer certificate:
Launch Keychain Access, located in /Applications/Utilities.
Choose Keychain Access > Certificate Assistant > Request a Certificate From a Certificate Authority.
    In the Certificate Information window:
In the User Email Address field, enter your email address.
In the Common Name field, enter your name.
In the “Request is” group, select the “Saved to disk” option.
    Click Continue.
The Certificate Assistant saves a certificate signature request (CSR) file to your Desktop.
Upload your CSR file to the iPhone Dev Center.
Download your developer certificate and the Apple Root and Apple WWDR certificates from the iPhone Dev Center.
Double-click each certificate to install them on your computer.
But where do you upload the certificate? Where is the upload button? Please help. Thank you very much.

You have to be accepted into the Apple Beta program before any of that works.

  • Iphone 5 wont turn on, charge or connect to itunes

My daughters iphone 5 is about 18 months old, she's recently had problems with the battery draining from 100% - 0% in a matter of a couple of hours even when not in use. Last week the battery drained and wouldn't charge, i tried everything i could think of and some things i found on the net. Yesterday i took it to a repair shop and they tested the battery, the battery was dead and he couldn't get it to charge. I decided to buy a new battery and hoped this fixed the problem. The phone charged as normal and everything was fine but today the phone died in a few hours and now wont charge again.
I've tried holding the home and power buttons for different amounts of time.
    I've toggled the volume buttons,
left on charge for over an hour in the wall
I've cleaned all the conections and found no dust or anything.
I just can't get it to do anything.
I've connected it to my laptop but i can't even get itunes to recognise the phone, it's now been conected for a couple of hours and nothing is happening.
I've tried different chargers but as the chargers work with my own phone it can't be a faulty cable.
Is therre anything else i can try?

  • Creating a simple random 'quotation' app

    Hello all
I an very very green around this kind of thing.  I am a training professional and I wanted to create a job aid for a training I'm developing.
I want to develop an app for deployment onto peoples blackberry's that randomly generates a question (for use after a sales training) - I guess it will be a bit like a quotation of the day type of deal (excel;t with ques not quotes)
I have adobe CS5 (and flash builder within that) - can anyone steer me in the right direction? How would I go about this?

Mobile Apps are standalone pieces of mobile software that you design, compile with Phone Gap and then upload to Google Play or Apple's App store.  From there mobile users can purchase (most are free) download & install apps on their device.   Apps include just about everything from GPS & traffic info, to sports, games, entertainment, health & fitness tracking. You name it, it's probably out there.   A mobile app is not a web site, although the app may indeed be tied to the creator's web site so he can sell more apps.   But an app is just an app.  A web site is a web site.  2 different things.
If you want to explore Mobile App development, I recommend this introductory tutorial

  • Is there any script to scrabble the salary information in oracle apps HCM.

    Hi,
Is there any script to scrabble the salary information in oracle apps HCM.

Edited by: Maya on Feb 12, 2013 11:43 PM

    Hi Maya,
We've used a tool called Data Masker (http://www.datamasker.com/) to mask our entire eBusiness Suite database in order to make the environment suitable for training and offshore development (financials, hcm, iproc, etc) - there's an evaluation copy of the website if you want to give that a go, in the background it's just using SQL scripts to manipulate the data.
If you just wanted to scrabble the Salary information (grades & spinal points / salary?) a couple of API's would probably be sufficient (HR_ASSIGNMENT_API.update_emp_asg_criteria, HR_SP_PLACEMENT_API.update_spp), or if you're not concerned with keeping the instance supported by Oracle then a few direct table updates to fiddle the information around (PER_PAY_PROPOSALS, PER_SPINAL_POINT_PLACEMENTS_F, etc).
